Antes de la intro[]
El episodio comienza con Needle con traje fumigando muchos insectos en So Ha! Tienda de moda, por encargo de Flower. Flower le pregunta con impaciencia a Needle si ya terminó. Needle responde que aún no ha terminado. Esto irrita a Flower, quien le dice que está tardando demasiado y que debe darse prisa. Needle se enoja mucho con ella y decide subir las escaleras y guardar un insecto debajo de la almohada de Flower en una caja.
Luego se ve a Tennis Ball en la tienda de moda So-Ha, queriendo revivir a los miembros de su equipo. Lo hace yendo a su centro de recuperación, reemplazando su nombre con el de los miembros de su equipo y presionando el botón para recuperarlos. Confundido, Fries cuestiona el método de recuperación, pero inmediatamente ve la mochila del fumigador. Al darse cuenta de que elimina las plagas, decide fumigar a Flower. Flower se ahoga e intenta ordenarle a Fries que se detenga, pero Fries simplemente le dice que sea un mejor anfitrión para que él se detenga. Flower, olvidando que tenía que ser anfitriona, sale corriendo de la tienda. Fries se ríe de la desgracia de Flower y continúa fumigando la tienda.
Después de la intro[]
Pencil y Ice Cube juegan juntos al Spongy Cake. Ruby llega y explica que si juegan lo suficientemente bien a Spongy Cake, vendrá su Hada Madrina. Al escuchar esto, Pencil y Ice Cube comienzan a aplaudir más rápido hasta que el repelente de insectos comienza a aparecer fuera de la tienda. Ruby anima a Pencil y Ice Cube, creyendo que el Hada Madrina está llegando. La figura se vuelve más clara. Ruby abraza la figura hasta que aparece Flower, anunciando que es hora de Cake at Stake. Se reproduce la introducción de Cake at Stake, pero TV decide darse por vencido.

Después del concierto, Pan Flute pregunta a su audiencia su opinión sobre el programa. Sin que él lo sepa, toda su audiencia ha sido envenenada. Pan Flute toma esto como si lo disfrutaran ya que ninguno de ellos dijo que no les gustó. De repente, aparece Hojita mala y Pan Flute comenta que incluso Hojita mala lo disfrutó.

En el subconsciente de Pin y Coiny, Pin habla con Coiny sobre su plan. Ella le dice que deben ir para recuperar la forma de Pin en algún lugar "muy, muy lejano" y que, para llegar allí, tendrán que "compactarse".

- Kevin MacLeod guest-stars in the episode. He is the composer for most of the royalty free music used as BFDI's soundtrack in the first three seasons.
- Ruby's line "That means this episode features a cave in ma' cloud." teases his special appearance later on in the episode.
- He performs "Call to Adventure", a piece that previously played in "The Long-lost Yoyle City".
- This is the fourth time a FreeSmart member is eliminated.
- Ice Cube is also the first female to be sent to the WTF.
- Ice Cube was eliminated by viewers for the first time. Her only previous elimination was by contestants and recommended characters in "The Glistening".
- The contest (Bug-Filled Dodgeball Insanity) also has the initialism of BFDI.
- The vinyl record created as a collaboration between Kevin MacLeod and jacknjellify shown at the credits is called Bops, Famous Ditties & Instrumentals.

- The dodging pattern is done once again, this time with Fries. This is the second time Fries has done the dodging pattern, the first time was in "Meaty". However, this is the first time he did it by himself, as he did it with Tennis Ball previously. Although unlike the previous patterns, it is subverted this time around as someone fails to dodge projectiles in this pattern the first time. Here, Fries gets hit by one of the bugs.
- This episode marks the first canonical appearance of Ruby's sisters, who first appeared in the camp ABCDEFG.
- Ruby does her BFDIA Intro pose when the bugs start chasing the cast (5:11)
- This episode marks the first in-universe appearance of Snare Drum, a failed TPOT debuter.
- The Challenge Wheel wedge that says "Find the Great Goikian Gem" is a reference to the BFB episodes "Return of the Rocket Ship" and "Don't Dig Straight Down".
- Nickel's line "Wait, is that... Jack and Jelly Fries" is a pun on the YouTube channel name Jacknjellify.

- Ruby, Needle, Pencil, Golf Ball, Tennis Ball, Coiny, Bomby, and Fries running through many different locations possibly references Golf Ball, Tennis Ball, and Fries walking through different locations in "Intruder Alert". Some locations were even the same as the ones they walked through.
- When Spongy's icon gets moved, he cries just like the time he crushed his house in "Don't Pierce My Flesh".
- The auditorium has posters referencing BFDIA 5b (with Waffle, Lego Brick, and Tune), and GTTTATINT, which can both be seen at 15:35.
- Pan Flute saying that his performance must be a smash hit because none of the people in the audience said they didn't like it is a reference to the Bubble Transformer ad from "Puzzling Mysteries"; the people who could have said they didn't like it are also dead in both cases.
- During Pan Flute's Adventurous Overture, the side effect of anti-poison which said in "Zeeky Boogy Doog" (eating one contestant) still occurs when Golf Ball and Tennis Ball attempts to throw bug to Fries.
- In the stinger, Pin tells Coiny her plan where in order to get her limbs back, they have to get "compacted". "Compacted" is said in a robotic TTS voice, referencing the The Underworld in episodes 9 and 10, and it is also most likely that the location will be revisited in the next episode.
- Tennis Ball's trebuchet makes its first in-universe appearance in this episode. In release date order, the trebuchet itself first appeared in the BFB episode "Getting Teardrop to Talk", even though it was mentioned in "Get in the Van".
- Pin and Coiny being able to read each other's thoughts is a nod to "Intruder Alert", where they were able to telepathically communicate.

- One of the teaser images posted on various social media platforms is a reference to the TV show Breaking Bad.
- One of the prize wheel slices says "Unlimited bacon, but no games", referencing the meme with the same name.
- When Tennis Ball said "tater haters," he also said "they must be out of their minds," a reference to the classic song "Tater Haters" by FRED.
