Plot[]
Cold open[]
The episode begins with Coiny ominously sitting within the lighthouse from "Airplanes in the Night Sky." The episode then cuts to a shot of Ice Cube, Pencil and Ruby in a hole underground. Ice Cube instructs Pencil and Ruby to push the Hand-powered Recovery Center underground so that the remaining contestants won't have to be in Yoyleland when they are recovered. Ruby then uses glue thinner on the glue attached to the HPRC to make pushing the HPRC more efficient. Ice Cube asks where Ruby got the glue thinner, and as Ruby is thinking it cuts to a shot of Yellow Face, Bomby, Nickel and Rocky throwing pieces of wood at Golf Ball and gluing them on to her. Golf Ball then goes behind a bush to collect her "secret bottle of glue thinner." Nothing is there but a letter from Ruby that reads "I took your glue thinner, bozo. —THE RUBINATOR". The BFDIA intro plays.
After the intro[]
Firey and Gelatin take turns sliding down a slide that Tennis Ball built for them. Tennis Ball asks if they like it, and Gelatin says yes before thanking him. Then, Tennis Ball suggests that since he was generous enough to build the slide, maybe they could return the favor, like giving him immunity or letting him win the game, which Gelatin agrees to. Needle, surprised, tells Tennis Ball she didn’t know he accepted bribes. Tennis Ball says it’s not a bribe—he’s just being his usual clever and charming self, which are qualities winners have. Firey disagrees, saying he isn’t charming or inventive. Needle warns him not to rig the game, but Gelatin defends it, saying it’s not cheating and shows a rule list that says if someone builds him a slide, they win. Needle says she hopes Tennis Ball gets eliminated, and Firey asks him to bring over the Cake at Stake area. Tennis Ball agrees and uses a magnet to pull it over.
Meanwhile, Golf Ball is chasing down FreeSmarters through the hole. While the FreeSmarters are still pushing the HPRC, however, Ice Cube sees the other end of the tunnel but it's too high, saying that she didn't think that they could push the HPRC outside. Suddenly, the magnet's wave moved past them and the enraged Golf Ball, travelling through many regions (past the WTF, through the Goiky Canal, the Desert, the Evil Forest) to retrieve the Cake at Stake area from Goiky and then travels all the way back to Barren Plains through the hole again. Meanwhile, Pencil comments that she feels 30 times uglier down here, Ruby warns there's a "hideous monster", which is Golf Ball. Ruby reveals that she heard that if one was type their wish into the HPRC enough times, it would come true. Hearing this, the FreeSmarters type in "Bozo Ball Begone" into the HPRC multiple times, but to no avail, as Golf Ball continues to catch up to the FreeSmarters. Just as Golf Ball pounces on FreeSmart, she suddenly feels rumbling in the hole, which is the Cake at Stake arena get pulled into the hole, hitting the FreeSmarters with the HPRC and Golf Ball, which removes all of the glued boards. Now, both the Recovery Center and the Cake at Stake area are in the Barren Plains.
Tennis Ball uses the Recovery Center to bring back Book and Fries. As soon as Book is recovered, she comments on her last death, calling it the most horrifying death she’s ever experienced. Fries tells Book that he forgot how “abhorrently nauseating” her cover is, and Book kicks him in retaliation. Fries clutches his leg in pain, dramatically declaring that no one has ever felt more pain than he does right now. Just then, Firey steps forward and announces the next Cake at Stake.
Cake at Stake[]
Ruby welcomes everyone to Cake at Stake, then turns to the elimination. Since Pin won the last challenge, Needle, Book, Tennis Ball, Fries, and Coiny are all up for elimination. However, Coiny and Pin are seemingly nowhere to be found. Gelatin asks where they are, and Tennis Ball replies that Coiny’s been isolating himself in the tower lately, before suggesting they leave him be.
Just then, Pin shows up, excited to see who’s getting eliminated. She wonders what the cake will be this time, before suggesting Gelatin’s remains. She grins menacingly before crushing him to death. Pin cheerfully says she "loves the taste of Gelatin’s rancid corpse", and Ruby tells her to take a seat. Pin sits with the others, but they all scoot away. She tries to move closer, but they keep backing off. Pin says she appreciates the space but adds they don’t need to be that far and threatens the contestants with her drill point. Then Pencil tells her to “park it" before spraying pepper spray in her face. Pin begs her to stop, but calms down after sniffing paprika.
Firey announces that 448,129 votes were cast, and Tennis Ball (wrongly) points out it's a prime number. Pin blows paprika and mocks him, calling him a "nerdy weirdo", and Tennis Ball claps back, saying she has no friends, offending Pin. Pin insists she does have friends, like Teardrop, claiming “she never once didn’t not say she didn’t not ever never dislike her".
The likes are revealed. Tennis Ball gets the most with 78,622 likes. Everyone groans as he steps up to spin the prize wheel. It lands on “Universal Translator”. Tennis Ball hopes it can interpret anything, like languages, animals, and aliens, before adding that he’s always wanted to know what his pet amoeba is thinking. Pin tells him that "there’s no way it’s anything nice".
The contestants move on to the elimination, with the safe contestants being rewarded with a sip of bubble tea, Ruby comments it is yummy. Pin reminds everyone she has immunity before asking for hers. Hearing this, Ruby spits tapioca pearls in her face. As Cake at Stake progresses, Coiny is revealed to be safe first with 14,176 dislikes, followed by Book and Needle with 15,579 and 16,811 dislikes respectively. This leaves Tennis Ball and Fries in the bottom two. Tennis Ball is shocked, saying he’s never been in this position before, while Fries doesn’t care. As the results come in, it’s revealed that Fries is eliminated with 30,414 dislikes. Despite this, Fries remains nonchalant as he walks away, whilst Tennis Ball is relived to be safe.
Pre-challenge[]
Firey informs Fries that, as an eliminated contestant, he now gets to co-host alongside the other eliminated contestants. However, Fries just walks away. Pencil tries to stop him, insisting he can't just leave, while Ruby asks if he wants to join the other hosts. Fries refuses. Gelatin encourages him by saying it would be fun, and Ice Cube adds they need all the help they can get. Firey pleads with him not to go. Despite their efforts, Fries ignores them and keeps walking away. The WTFers start chasing after him, desperate for him to stay and help. Pin notices the commotion and attempts to intervene, but the WTFers follow Fries into the water, with Firey dying in the process. With the group gone, Tennis Ball points out that they now have no host.
Meanwhile, the pepper spray drifts to the tower, interferes with the beacons, and causes an explosion. Shortly after, Coiny opens the door with a tired and gloomy expression. Book, Needle, and Tennis Ball look at him with concern. Coiny comments that it would've been nice to be woken up properly from his afternoon nap, but quickly shifts to a cheerful greeting. When asked if he’s okay, Coiny responds that there’s no reason he wouldn’t be. Needle reminds him of what Pin did to him last episode, but Coiny brushes it off, saying she just wanted to win, and he respects that. Tennis Ball says he’d still like to see her obliterated, and Coiny replies that while she may have won last time, he won’t make it easy for her this round. He then asks what’s going on, and Tennis Ball informs him that Fries just got eliminated, and all the hosts left with him. Coiny realizes he missed Cake at Stake, his favorite part, but adds that at least no one important was eliminated.
Book asks what they should do now, and just then, Pin emerges from the water, announcing that she brought the hosts back. Book asks how, but before Pin can answer, she reveals a large fish monster and introduces it as the new host. The fish monster roars, and Tennis Ball notes they can’t understand it. Pin pulls out his prize, the universal translator, and feeds it to the monster. She then asks if it has anything to say. The fish monster simply asks to be returned to the water. Seconds later, after being greeted rudely by Pin, it insults her, calling her a "nasty, wretched, puny pinhead plastic". It then demands to know why it was brought here. Pin explains that it’s now the host of BFDIA. The fish monster is thrilled to hear this and looks over the remaining contestants, expressing pride in them all, even though they aren’t the final five it had expected.

Challenge[]
Book is annoyed that they are stuck with the fish monster as the host, and Coiny tells the fish monster to give the challenge wheel. The fish monster spits out the challenge wheel, which Coiny spins. The wheel lands on "Collect and distribute goods". Coiny asks what that means before the fish monster wraps it's tongue around the remaining contestants and eats them, then it swims through the Goiky Canal, before spitting them out at the Pristine Plains.
Upon arrival, the fish monster explains the challenge. Each contestant must collect ten unique items and place them in their own baskets. The first to do so will advance further in the competition. Baskets will update in real-time as new items are added, and no item can be collected more than once by any contestant. Lastly, once an item is taken, no one else can claim said item. Pin asks if stealing from others' baskets is allowed, but the fish monster clarifies that it is not.
With the rules set, the challenge begins. Coiny quickly gathers five items: grass, dirt, a pebble, a flower, and his own spit. Proud of his fast start, he teases the others, pointing out that they can no longer collect any of those items. However, the others ignore him and scatter in search of new items. The fish monster then comments that no one likes a showboater, but Coiny dismisses the remark.
Meanwhile, Book turns to Needle, hoping they can help each other in the challenge. But before she can say more, Needle cuts her off, saying she needs to find more items before hurrying off. Book then tries asking Tennis Ball to team up, but he declines, saying Book isn’t exactly a “power player”. Book asks what he means, so Tennis Ball explains that he feels like he’d be helping her more than she’d be helping him. He leaves, leaving Book frustrated. She briefly considers teaming up with Pin, but quickly decides against it.
Elsewhere, Needle kicks a tree, and a branch drops. She takes it and adds it to her basket. Tennis Ball arrives and kicks the same tree, knocking loose some bark, which he collects before leaving. Book wonders what she could gather, and when she kicks the tree, a huge beehive falls down. She carefully picks it up and returns it to her basket. Finally, Pin shows up and decides not to waste time. She drills into the tree with her point and cuts it down entirely.
The four contestants return to their baskets to drop off their items before heading out again. When Pin adds the whole tree to her basket, Book approaches her and questions if that’s really a good idea. Pin insists it is, saying she can get a lot of use out of it. She kicks the tree, and with each kick, a different item (leaves, apple, kite, house, nest, many eggs and a toilet) falls out. In no time, Pin has eight items in her basket. She boasts to Book that she’s way ahead, but Book reminds her the challenge isn’t over yet. Pin sharply replies that she’s not stupid.
Meanwhile, Tennis Ball and Coiny approach a waterfall. Coiny dares Tennis Ball to jump off it, and Tennis Ball considers the idea, noting there could be all kinds of unique mineraloids at the bottom. Before he can act, Coiny spots a rock nearby and quickly grabs it, running off. Tennis Ball peers over the edge and notices what he describes as an "orderly organic pile adorned with orbs of ores" below. Intrigued, he jumps down, collects the items, and bounces back to the top: only to be startled by Leafy, who suddenly appears and greets him.
Back at the baskets, Coiny deposits his rock. Book questions the value of the items being collected, arguing that if the goal is to impress the fish monster, they should be gathering rare and unique items. Coiny jokingly suggests "air" and blows into his basket, but to his surprise, the basket registers it as a valid item, bringing his total to seven. Excited, he dashes off again.
Book reflects on how the fish monster probably sees plenty of rocks and dirt underwater and concludes it must want something extraordinary that it could never find in the ocean. The fish monster, unimpressed, clarifies that it doesn’t actually care. Book, undeterred, reassures it that she’ll find something truly exceptional. The fish monster sarcastically wishes her luck, implying she’s wasting her time.
Needle discovers a pumpkin near a tree and picks it up, but as she does, a hidden buzzsaw suddenly bursts from the ground, startling her and forcing her to jump back in alarm. Meanwhile, Tennis Ball asks Leafy why she’s here, and Leafy explains that she wants to help an old friend. When Tennis Ball asks who, she says it’s him: she’s there to support him in the challenge. She suggests if he manages to collect all the WTFers and put them in his basket, it should be enough for him to win.

Skeptical, Tennis Ball argues that Golf Ball would never agree to something that breaks the rules. Leafy then pulls out a knife and suggests he use the kill-and-recover trick on them so that they won't have a choice. Tennis Ball is still visibly unsure, so Leafy insists that if he wants to lose again, that’s his choice, before reminding him she was a former finalist and knows how to win. Hearing this, Tennis Ball decides to consider it. Leafy cheers at his response, claiming she’s doing him a favor by offering such great advice. But before she can say more, Tennis Ball has already left.
Tennis Ball returns with the mineraloids and places them into his basket. Coiny immediately steps in, pointing out that those items shouldn’t count as unique since he already collected a rock. Tennis Ball refutes the claim, explaining that his items aren't generic rocks, but specific minerals: one is calcite, another is malachite, and the third is arsenuranospathite. The basket confirms this, registering them as distinct items, bringing his total to four.
Tennis Ball tells Coiny that his minerals are clearly unique and therefore valid. He turns to the fish monster for confirmation, but the creature flatly replies that it doesn't really care. Hearing this, Tennis Ball smugly tells Coiny that the fish monster agrees with him, but the fish monster reiterates that it doesn’t care either way. Tennis Ball shrugs it off before asking the fish monster to take him back to Yoyleland. The fish monster asks why it should do that, and Tennis Ball simply responds that it's because he's awesome. The fish monster agrees without argument, and Tennis Ball hops into its mouth as it swims off, carrying him back to Yoyleland.
Needle places the pumpkin into her basket, bringing her total to two items. As she glances over at Coiny and Pin’s baskets, both already brimming with items, a wave of discouragement hits her. Book points out that at least Needle’s doing better than she is, but Needle responds that everyone always seems to do better than her. Book offers a small encouragement, saying it’s about quality over quantity, but Needle quickly dismisses the idea, arguing that it doesn't apply to this challenge.
Book bets that an ice cream sundae will count as 2,763 items. However, the fish monster cuts in, stating that she’d lose that bet, and the challenge, since it would only count as one. Needle tells Book that she’s not just losing the challenge, but her mind too, before sprinting off to find more items. Left alone, Book walks away quietly, disheartened, before she unexpectedly bumps into Leafy. Book takes a few cautious steps back, explaining that she’s been explicitly told not to interact with her. But before she can retreat any further, Leafy sweeps her up and dashes off with her.
Meanwhile, Tennis Ball arrives in Yoyleland and joins Bomby, Nickel, Rocky, and Yellow Face in a spirited game of badminton; only instead of a shuttlecock, they’re using Golf Ball herself. As she soars through the air, Golf Ball yells that they’ll all face an excruciating demise at her hands before crashing down next to Tennis Ball. He greets her warmly, and Golf Ball is surprised to see him there. When she asks what brings him here, Tennis Ball claims he just wanted to say hi to everyone. Nickel spots him and excitedly rushes over, soon followed by Bomby, Rocky, and Yellow Face, all thrilled to see him again.
Back in the Pristine Plains, Pin notices she’s only two items away from winning the challenge. She ponders what else she could collect when Coiny approaches, suggesting she check out the Super Awesome Totally Legit Big And Fully-Stocked Super Mall. The scene then cuts to reveal a sad-looking cardboard box labeled with the mall’s exaggerated name.
Skeptical, Pin accuses Coiny of trying to trick her, but he insists it’s "totally legit" before asking if she really thinks he’d lie to her. Pin replies bluntly that he would but decides to head inside anyway. However, once she enters, she’s shocked to find that the interior is massive, bustling, and incredibly luxurious; nothing like its boxy exterior.
Meanwhile, Leafy is seen baking, while Book watches curiously and asks what her plan is. Leafy explains that she’s making a giant ice cream sundae for Book to turn in as part of the challenge, and then they’ll become best friends. Book, noticing the sundae’s massive size, asks why it needs to be so big. Leafy casually replies that’s just "how she rolls".
Book, trying to keep things friendly, formally introduces herself. Leafy responds enthusiastically, saying they should totally be best friends, and even gives Book a gift: a taped-up map. Book thanks her, and Leafy excitedly suggests they could hang out all the time and maybe even start an ice cream shop together. However, before she can go further, Book gently cuts her off, saying it’s all a bit overwhelming and suggesting they focus on the challenge for now.
As the sundae finishes, Leafy’s tone shifts. She said she had burnt her efforts to help Book and asks why Book can’t even consider being friends, then accuses her of just using her for the challenge before planning to discard her as soon as she's useless. She warns Book that, at this rate, she doesn’t see her lasting much longer in the game, and that some people clearly don’t appreciate free ice cream. With that, Leafy storms off. Book, now alone, looks around and notices a crowd of recommended characters charging toward the sundae. Thinking fast, she grabs it and runs, the crowd in hot pursuit. As she glances back, she realizes there are at least ten recommended characters chasing her, which would be enough to fulfill the item requirement for the challenge. With this in mind, she heads straight for her basket, planning to dump the sundae in and let the characters follow.

Back in Yoyleland, Nickel curiously asks Tennis Ball what brought him there. Tennis Ball casually explains that he simply wanted to gather everyone for a “pleasant excursion”. Nickel finds the idea intriguing, and Yellow Face enthusiastically agrees, saying it sounds like fun. With that, Tennis Ball leads the group toward the fish monster. Just before they leave, however, Golf Ball stops Tennis Ball. She eyes him skeptically, accusing him of only doing this to gain an advantage in the challenge. Tennis Ball tries to deny it, but before he can continue, the fish monster interrupts and bluntly confirms that this is indeed part of the challenge. It then introduces itself as the current host of BFDIA.
Golf Ball, now visibly upset, turns back to Tennis Ball, expressing her disappointment that he’d stoop to cheating. But before she can finish, Tennis Ball suddenly strikes her with a mallet. Shocked, Golf Ball questions his actions, but he apologizes mid-swing, explaining that he had hoped to bring her peacefully. Since she refused, he claims he has no choice but to force her into the basket. With one final, powerful blow, Golf Ball is shattered by the mallet, killing her.
Bomby, now realizing Tennis Ball’s true intentions, is horrified. The rest of the WTFers break into tears (except Rocky, who throws up in distress). At that moment, Fries, Gelatin, Ice Cube, Pencil, and Ruby arrive, with Fries announcing his recent elimination and that he now gets to hang out with the rest of them. However, upon seeing the emotional wreckage and chaos left behind, he turns around and leaves without another word.
Meanwhile, Needle continues scavenging for unique items when Leafy suddenly emerges from a bush, proclaiming herself to be a unique find. Needle quickly dismisses the idea, pointing out that Pin already collected leaves earlier, implying that Leafy wouldn’t count. Offended, Leafy expresses disbelief that their long-awaited reunion begins with being called “boring”, but Needle clarifies that’s not what she meant.
Leafy admits she’s feeling generous and wants to help Needle with the challenge. When Needle questions her motivation, Leafy insists it’s because they share a special bond, reminiscing about “the good ol' days”. A flashback plays, showing Needle repeatedly slapping Leafy, Leafy trying to pronounce Needle's name properly and Leafy slapping Needle from last season, before cutting back to the present. Needle fondly admits those were some of her most cherished moments, but says she no longer relies on alliances and now plays for herself.
Leafy sarcastically questions how that strategy is working for her, pointing out that Needle hasn’t exactly been racking up wins lately, causing Needle to slap her. Leafy shrugs it off with a nostalgic smile, saying she’ll forgive her since it reminds her of the past, but she warns Needle that she can't win without others' help. She guides Needle to a spaceship, calling it one of her greatest treasures and instructing her to take good care of it. However, Needle just picks up the spaceship and speeds off without a word, leaving Leafy standing there, berating that Needle is supposed to say "thank you".
Pin steps out of the Super Awesome Totally Legit Big And Fully-Stocked Super Mall, declaring it a productive day of shopping. As she exits, she spots Book sprinting across the plains, tailed by a horde of recommended characters. Puzzled, Pin briefly wonders why none of them stopped to compliment her beauty before blasting off using her rocket boosters.
Meanwhile, in Yoyleland, Tennis Ball justifies his actions by insisting that winning is worth any cost—even mass elimination. Bomby, hearing this, simply shrugs and tells him he should’ve just said so from the start. Nickel eagerly agrees, asking Tennis Ball to destroy him. Though confused, Tennis Ball obliges, one by one crushing Nickel, Bomby, and Rocky with his mallet. When he turns to Yellow Face, however, the mallet bounces off due to Yellow Face’s squishy texture. Apologizing, Yellow Face says he’ll figure out his own way to die and eventually succumbs from the stress of overthinking it. With the deed done, Tennis Ball cheers and leaves Yoyleland aboard the fish monster.
Back in the Pristine Plains, Pin flies overhead as Book continues to outrun the recommended characters, eventually making it to her basket. As Pin prepares to place her shopping bags inside her own basket, Coiny swoops in and snatches them, lightheartedly teasing her for falling for his trick. He dumps the contents into his own basket—only to find it’s a pile of paprika. Confused, he questions her choice, and Pin proudly tells him it’s "so yum!". Coiny points out that she still needed one more item to win, and Pin reveals the shopping bag itself was supposed to be the final item. Hearing this, Coiny tosses one of the bags into his basket, bringing his total to nine.
Now only one item away from victory, Coiny begins frantically scanning the area for something new. At that moment, Tennis Ball reappears. Coiny asks where he's been, and Tennis Ball casually replies that he was on a “quick li'l murder spree”, revealing his plan to recover everyone into his basket. Pin, horrified, demands to know if the fish monster devoured his brain, reminding him that the Hand-powered Recovery Center is still back in the Barren Wasteland. Unfazed, Tennis Ball pulls out a magnet and activates it, attracting the HPRC to his location.
As Needle places the spaceship into her basket, she spots a swarm of recommended characters in hot pursuit of Book. Curious, she bounces from one character to the next, eventually catching up to Book and inquiring about the chaotic scene. Book explains that the crowd is drawn to the ice cream sundae she’s carrying. Needle quickly realizes she won’t reach ten items before Book does. However, Book encourages her to view things differently—by disassembling the spaceship into components like the jet, wings, and metal scraps, each part could count as a unique item. Realizing the strategy could work, Needle rushes off with renewed determination, prompting Book to follow, not ready to give up herself.
As the remaining contestants scramble for last-minute items, Coiny spots Needle hauling the spaceship. He intercepts her, demanding she hand it over so he can win. Needle refuses, asserting her independence, but Coiny insists it’s all in good fun. When she challenges him to move aside, he charges at her—only to be struck by the Hand-powered Recovery Center, which had just been summoned by Tennis Ball’s magnet. The magnet drags both Coiny and Needle in, distorting Needle’s body. She pleads for Tennis Ball to shut it off, but not in time. He quickly apologizes and shakes them both free. Coiny, now disoriented, finds the spaceship on the ground and begins pushing it toward his basket.
Meanwhile, Tennis Ball types Golf Ball’s name into the HPRC. She revives inside his basket, confused by her surroundings. Tennis Ball beams with confidence, claiming victory is close as he recovers the rest of his teammates just in time to notice Book approaching rapidly with a massive crowd.
Tennis Ball begins to rapidly recover all of the deceased WTFers into his basket, recovering Bomby, Nickel, Rocky, and Yellow Face in that order. Coiny continues dragging the spaceship, while Book continues to race towards her basket. Lastly, Tennis Ball starts to type in Firey's name in the HPRC just as Book prepares to deposit the sundae. However, Pin slyly uses the HPRC’s leftover glue to trip her. The sundae slips from Book’s hands and appears headed straight for Pin’s basket. Pin looks over her shoulder with happiness, while Coiny and Tennis Ball glance over in surprise. Book screams "NOOO!!!!" while Pin screams "YESS!!!" as the sundae slowly flies towards Pin's basket in slow-motion. But just before the sundae can land in Pin's basket, Needle kicks hers forward at the last moment, knocking Pin’s aside and redirecting the sundae into her own.
Pin looks on in shock while Book is still on her knees with a face of devastation. Unfazed, Tennis Ball quickly points out that Needle still only has three items in her basket. But before anyone can react, the recommended characters swarm in to devour the ice cream. With each bite, the item count skyrockets, eventually reaching ten, securing Needle the win and safety from elimination. Needle cheers as she bends her body returns to normal. However, the fish monster announces that the challenge isn’t over. When Needle asks the fish monster what it means by that, it explains that since she’s now won immense power in the game, and that it’s time to begin the challenge's second phase.
Stinger[]

Ruby pleads with Fries to reconsider hosting, while Pencil chimes in, warning that if they step down, the show might replace them with something "gross", like the fish monster. Unbothered, Fries announces that he's leaving. Gelatin reminds him of the responsibility they all have and questions who would take over if not them. Fries shrugs off the concern, casually suggesting they let the viewers decide instead. Pencil scoffs, questioning if he seriously trusts them. Fries remains indifferent and writes a note before shoving it to the camera, telling the viewer to click the link in the description to vote for a new host.
Votes[]
417,715 votes were collected, incorrectly stated to be 448,129. This is because Fries' dislikes were counted twice.

Trivia[]
- The votes from this episode will decide who the host is in BFDIA 21.
- The candidates include every character that appeared in BFDI and BFDIA.
- Phase 2 of the challenge will commence in BFDIA 20.
- This is the second BFDIA episode to be released in May, following "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4".
- This episode's title:
- Is the first episode in the series to not have any words in it (not counting BFDIA 5b).
- Is the first episode in the series where it is only an emoji.
- Is the first episode title that doesn't contain ASCII characters.
- Has the shortest title length in BFDI history, at only 2 characters, because emojis count as 2 characters (not counting BFDIA 5b).
- Is the second episode to have a special character in the title, following "PointyPointyPointy ♫."
- Is the first episode to have an emoji in the title.
- This is the second two part episode, the first being "Return of the Rocket Ship".
- This is the second episode to have the title been said in-episode by Pin, the first being "PointyPointyPointy ♫".
- She is the third in ranking of how much of a character’s line has been the title of a BFDIA episode. Second being Fries with “Get Digging”, “Catch These Hands” & “Respect to the Wicked” (3), and first being Pencil with “Get in the Van”, “No More Snow!”, “It’s a Monster”, “The Long-lost Yoyle City” & “Taste the Sweetness” (5).
- This is the sixth (and the 4th in universe) episode to be broken up into multiple parts. The others are BFDI 1a and 1b (Take the Plunge), BFDIA 5a-5e, BFDIA 13/BFDIA 14, and BFB 13/BFB 14.
- This is the third time it has been a two parter in the same season.
- The 19th word of this episode is "twenty". As of now, BFDIA's secret message is: "Don't try that thing again, because it definitely won't work this time. Instead, you should string together the twenty...".
- If each part of an episode counts as an episode and "BFDI Is Back", "Paper Towel", and "Plan Dissolve Adhesive" are included, this is the 100th BFDI episode.
- This is the first BFDIA episode where you type in your vote.
- This is also the first BFDIA episode where viewers vote via a google form, like TPOT.
- As of this episode, Tennis Ball has won the most prizes out of any other contestant in BFDIA, with a total of four times.
- Technically, this is the episode with the most voting options, due to any character from BFDI and BFDIA being eligible to host in Launch Party.
- This is the first BFDIA episode where everyone who was up for voting got at least 40,000 likes at Cake at Stake.
- This is the first BFDIA episode since "Well, Look Who It Is!" to not feature a member of W.O.A.H. Bunch in the thumbnail.
- Fries writing "VOTING ENDS MAY 12th 2025" reveals that the characters are aware that the viewers are in the future.
- The same music that was played during the Cake at Stake ceremony is the same music played during Don't Pierce My Flesh. Coincidentally, both times were in the final 6.
- The name of the episode originally used a different egg emoji that was similar to the egg emoji for Android 7.0.
- On devices that cannot display the egg emoji, the episode title appears as ☒.
Elimination[]
Due to Fries being eliminated...
- Bomby and Fries is the first BFDIA 14 Duo to lose all of it's Members
- This also means that Fries is the second solo team to lose all of its members, after Nickel in "Airplanes in the Night Sky".
- This season's winner will be the first one to have a name that doesn't begin with the letter "F".
- It is his first elimination in-universe, and his second elimination overall, following his elimination in "The Great Goikian Bake-Off".
- This is the first time a former member of The Beautiful Face Devotion Institute isn't eliminated since Gelatin's elimination in Taste the Sweetness.
- Needle is the highest ranking member from FriesMart.
- He is the highest ranking male BFDIA newbie.
- Book is the highest ranking BFDIA newbie.
- Coiny is the highest ranking male contestant with both arms and legs.
- Coiny is also the highest ranking contestant still competing in BFDIA from The Hearts.
- Pin is the only primarily red contestant left in BFDIA.
- Tennis Ball is the highest ranking contestant from Team No-Name still competing in BFDIA.
- Tennis Ball is the only male non-metal contestant still competing in BFDIA.
- Coincidentally, this is his second time being the bottom two with Tennis Ball (in terms of release date) and being eliminated, after "The Great Goikian Bake-Off".
- The streak of FreeSmart members being eliminated every 2 eliminations since "Meaty" is now broken.
Continuity references[]
- Needle calling out Tennis Ball for taking bribes is a reference to "Reveal Novum" when Tennis Ball says that to Leafy.
- When Tennis Ball claims that he's charming and inventive, which are the typical traits of a winner, Firey challenges his claim, arguing he isn't charming or inventive (despite being a winner). This references the fact that Firey was the winner of the previous season.
- The audio of the WTFers (except for Golf Ball and Rocky) laughing is recycled from "Get Digging".
- Gelatin holds the game rules paper from "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know", albeit only showing the third and fourth rules in addition to an extra fifth rule being added.
- The third rule "No reading behind" is a reference to the same episode where the third rule read "No reading ahead" when Eraser was reading rule 2.
- When trying to convince Fries to host, Pencil calls him "King of Hearts", referring to "Spore Day", where they were both on the Hearts together with Coiny. In that episode, she called herself "Queen of Hearts", and Coiny called himself "Jack of Hearts"; thus, she completes the set in this episode.
- Tennis Ball using a magnet to attract the Cake at Stake place (and later the HPRC) is a callback to "Half a Loaf is Better Than None", where he uses a magnet to retrieve the Announcer's marble collection from a 10-foot vat of hydrochloric acid. Him attracting the latter with said magnet is also a reference to "It's a Monster", where Pencil does the same thing.
- The magnet he uses in this episode is the same one they used in "Start the Shift", now with a couple of wires on the back, an activate button and also a text-to-speech voice, which is also the same voice used for TV in the BFB episode "Today's Very Special Episode".
- During the Cake at Stake intro, as the line "nothing's allowed to stay the same" is sung, many greyed-out objects and pictures can be seen in a pile alongside the cake. They all represent elements that have been part of BFDIA in the past and illustrate the chaotic and ever-changing nature of this season, as most of them aren't in use anymore:
- In the pile, we can see logos of former teams (FreeSmart, W.O.A.H. Bunch, Team No-Name and the duos and trios from episodes 14 and 15), former hosts (TV and Puffball Speaker Box) and former elimination places (the LOL and the WTF).
- We can also see a wheel, a shovel, the Yoylite, one of the fake cows from Dream Island Again, the laser shooter, and Fries' drill shooter from last episode.
- The recommended characters going after Book with an ice cream sundae is a reference to "Taste the Sweetness". Book’s comment about the recommended characters liking ice cream also references the episode, as the challenge was to serve ice cream to them.
- Golf Ball's scream from "Barriers and Pitfalls" is used when she is hit by the HPRC.
- Pin references her "extra paprika" line from "Spore Day" numerous times in the episode.
- The sound effect that is heard when the contestants put the items they collect into their respective baskets is the same one from "PointyPointyPointy ♫".
- Pin mentions that Teardrop has never said she hated her, which is a reference to "Get Digging".
- Book mentioning on being instructed not to make contact with Leafy also references the same episode.
- Leafy makes an ice cream sundae for Book in a similar fashion to "Sweet Tooth" when she made a cake for Pen and Eraser. She also gets extremely close to the camera when she asks Tennis Ball if she's a good friend for helping her, which is also another nod to that episode.
- The ingredients she uses change every frame she appears in while making the ice cream sundae, just like in "Get Digging".
- Fries insults Book's cover, mentioning that he forgot how "abhorrently nauseating" it is, which is a reference to "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know".
- Pin's suggestion of using Gelatin's corpse as the cake for Cake at Stake is a reference to Donut's corpse being used as such in "Get in the Van".
- Tennis Ball audibly spelling the names of the people he recovers may be a reference to "It's a Monster", when Coiny does the same when he recovers Puffball.
- Leafy offers Needle her rocket ship from "Gardening Hero".
- When Tennis Ball mocks Pin, she makes the same shocked expression she made in "Get in the Van" and "Catch These Hands".
- After Book says "quality over quantity", Needle tells her that it doesn't apply to this episode's challenge. This may be a reference to similar lines she used in "PointyPointyPointy ♫" and "The Liar Ball You Don't Want".
- Firey's being killed by water is a reference to his death in "Hurtful!".
- Flashbacks to various episodes from Season 1 are shown, particularly those of Needle slapping Leafy and vice versa.
- When Rocky, Nickel, Bomby, and Yellow Face discover that Tennis Ball tricked them, the latter cries the same way he does so in "The Power of Four" (which also references Ruby's crying from "No More Snow!"), while the former barfs vertically just like he did in "Don't Lose Your Marbles".
- Ruby mistaking Golf Ball for a hideous monster and FreeSmart panicking over Golf Ball is a reference to "It's a Monster".
- This coincidentally happens underground in a tunnel, which might be a reference to "Don't Dig Straight Down".
- Leafy's Map being covered in tape is a reference to it being torn to pieces by Pin in "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know".
Cultural References[]
- Ruby's signature on the note she left for Golf Ball seems to be a reference to Richard Watterson's signature from The Amazing World of Gumball. It might also be a reference to the action of "burninating" or the title of "burninator" from Homestar Runner.
- When Pin introduces the Fish Monster as the new host, she exclaims "Big fish!". This may be a reference to the title of the 1998 novel Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions and its 2003 film adaptation Big Fish.
- "Perfectly Generic Object" on the wheel may be a reference to Homestuck, where there is an item with that name that resembles a green cube.
- The recommended character "Tisha" bears a resemblance to the Toon of the same name from Dandy's World. In addition, the name may also be a reference to the video, "The Lost Ice Cube Recordings", which contains the phrase "Numbers are evil, using a tisha."
- Tisha also bears a slight resemblance to Tissues from Inanimate Insanity II.
- Pin knocking numerous items out of the tree into her basket may be a reference to the Animal Crossing franchise, where players can sometimes find various furniture items by shaking trees.
- The recommended character "Yoshi Egg" is a reference to the item of the same name from the Mario games.
- The recommended character "Pack of Sunflower Seeds" looks identical to Sunflower's seed packet from Plants vs. Zombies.
- The recommended character "Beach Ball" looks identical to the beach ball prop used throughout the Angry Birds franchise.
- When Coiny grabs the spaceship from Needle, he shouts "Spaceship!", which may be a nod to Benny from The Lego Movie, who is known for being obsessed with spaceships and anything space-related.
Goofs[]
- At 1:07, the radio tower can be seen standing, despite being collapsed by Fries in the previous episode, when Ruby used it to display the votes, it went back to being collapsed.
- At 4:30, Pin crushes Gelatin causing him to splatter everywhere. But in the next shot, he fully disappears.
- The vote total displayed on screen (448,129) does not match the sum of all individual vote counts (417,715). Therefore, at least one of the displayed numbers is incorrect.
- Additionally, the difference between both numbers is exactly 30,414, which matches the number of dislikes received by Fries. Therefore, it is highly likely that Fries' dislikes were accidentally counted twice when calculating the vote total, meaning all individual vote counts would still be correct, and the results of the prize and elimination votes would be accurate.
- The controversiality of Fries' votes led to Cary Huang clarifying whether Fries' votes were rigged on the Humany channel via a community post.[1]
- Tennis Ball says that 448,129 is a prime number, when in reality, it is divisible by 11 and 40,739, making it a semiprime.
- At 6:13, Coiny and Needle's dislikes are displayed with a comma, this is immediately fixed after Tennis Ball and Fries' dislikes appear.
- Tennis Ball said he's never experienced being in the bottom two before, but he had experienced that last season 4 times: in "A Leg Up in the Race" with Coiny, "Don’t Lose Your Marbles" with Snowball, "The Reveal" with Blocky, and "Reveal Novum" with Leafy.
- He was also technically tied for bottom two with Golf Ball in "Barriers and Pitfalls."
- It is most likely the case that he was referring only to season 2, as he has never been in the bottom two this season until this episode.
- In one of the scenes, Golden Woody loses his/their face.
- Mop by marshadoo is listed twice.
- At 5:09, the HPRC’s keyboard and “GO” button has the wrong font.
- At 18:53, Coiny's basket says 8/10 items. Pin had only finished shopping and paprika is still to be put in Coiny's basket as the 8th item.
- At 20:17, Coiny's outline is thicker than normal.
- At 20:20, the HPRC is shown before Tennis Ball magnetically pulls it from Yoyleland.
Deaths[]
- Gelatin is ran over by Pin.
- Firey runs into the Goiky Canal and is killed from exposure to water.
- Golf Ball, Nickel, Bomby and Rocky are smashed by Tennis Ball's mallet.
- Yellow Face dies from extreme stress.
