Hello viewers! So, have you heard of BFDI Season 1?
Do you remember Take the Plunge?
Take the Plunge came out on January 1st, 2010. Well, as of today, which is October 17th, 2022, it turns...
...4672!...
...days old. And why is that significant?
That's how old we were when BFDI Episode 1 came out.
We were just about 12 years, 9 months old, and now the show itself is 12 years 9 months old. That means this silly little animated show has existed for exactly 50% of our lives. And for some of you viewers who have been around for like a decade or more, it might have been around for even more than 50% of your lives!

Pretty funny if it just cuts to, like, this motion and you hear the barks! So to celebrate this historic moment, I wanted to take a look back to the best moments of Season 1. But I didn't wanna do it based on subjective opinion, because every opinion is different. I wanted to use objective data. I spent about a week coding some intense scripts on my computer to find out what timestamps you viewers commented under each video the most. Obviously, the more comments there are that feature a timestamp of a moment, the better that moment must be, right? The season starts with episode 1a, which introduces us to the 20 contestants and a mysterious speaker box that falls from the sky and invites them to a competition to win Dream Island. Which three timestamps throughout the episode do you think viewers commented on the most?

Yeah, I know, she was so surprised.

Really?

Oh, for sure! I mean, it wasn't very big, just a little bug, but Flower went crazy-

...hold on a sec! We didn't agree to that!
Look, when I win the island, I'll let you on to the island.
Pin! This still isn't fair!
Only one of us can win.
Pin raises her middle finger.
Um, Pin? Wrong finger.
Whoops.
Pin quickly withdraws her finger.
Heh heh... Anyway, still, only one of us can win.
That's where you're wrong. The tw-

Let's run her over!

Yeah!
Uh oh!
Pin and Leafy run toward Flower, who kicks them off.
Hey! We're flying!
You're right! Woo-hoo!
Uh oh!
The two hit Teardrop, and they all fall. Leafy grabs onto the beam, and also grabs one of Pin's legs. Teardrop reaches out an arm and also grabs Pin's leg.
Pull up!
I... can't!
Okay, so it seems like the mathematically best part of the episode is when people found Eraser flying through the air in the background. The timestamp when Eraser shows up (5:10) appeared in 215 comments. So you guys like to do detective work, huh? Anyway, that's pretty cool, but, lets move on!
In episode 1b, Leafy and Pin choose the teams. The contest is to build a boat and cross the Goiky Canal before the other team does. Which three timestamps throughout the episode do you think viewers commented on the most?

Aw, seriously?

Yeh.

I agree.

See, I knew T.B. and G.B. had a crush on each other! T.B, G.B, sitting in a tree, K.I.S.S.I.N.G!

Shut it, Coiny! I only like Tennis Ball in a platonic way!

A fish bites Blocky

Youuuuuch!

Blocky flies into the air

A giant fish monster seemingly eats Blocky
Ahhhhh...
So it's pretty obvious that you guys like the sound that the leak made and also that Firey screamed with a really big mouth, but what I love reading is all the different ways that you spelled the word "leak".
In episode 2, the remaining nineteen must traverse an obstacle course, filled with ski lifts, boxing gloves, needles in haystacks and more. Which three times- you know what, no. I can't keep saying that phrase over and over again. You know what I mean.

I'm stuck!

(Bubble is wedged between the spike and the floor)

(Golf Ball and Tennis Ball run and accidentally push Bubble out, then fall in the gap)
Hehe! Thanks, TB and GB.
We gotta go, Pencil.

(Match jumps successfully, while Pencil's lead gets chopped off by the spike, as she is dulled)

Oh no! I've been DULLED!

If you kick me out, I'll CRUSH you with my ANNOUNCER CRUSHER!
Well, too bad for me; because Golf Ball is safe at one vote...
(Cake tosser tosses cake at Golf Ball, making the cake splat all over her face)
...and you, Flower, are out with four votes.
Grrrrrrrr!
(Flower activates the Announcer Crusher)
Okay better webcam angle. So I though this moment got number 1 because people were appreciating Announcer's Crusher artwork. But they're really just saying "announcer is gone!" Which is like funny, because I think this video is going to be more finding small quirks in the episodes rather than "best moments". Whatever.
In episode 3, the announcer gives the remaining 18 contestants an academic exam which quickly devolves into cheating, wildfire, recursive pencil doodling, rainstorms and other mayhem. Only three contestants come out the other side with a completed non-zero test score. Anyway, let's look at the top three commented timestamps

This time it's the Squishy Cherries who lost. Let's do Cake at Stake.

Just drew a little doodle!
A recursive doodle of Pencil, many doodles appear on her doodle to where it makes a doodle illusion
Okay I think that was a pretty self-explanatory top 3. We all love the recursive Pencil doodle, but I just wanna point out that one commenter, Admin, said, "4:24 jojo reference". And Jojo's Bizarre Adventure came out in 2012; this episode came out in 2010. So maybe we have some time travelers? I don't even know what the reference's supposed to be. But anyway, let's move on to Episode 4.
In episode 4, the contestants try baking their best cake. And then the Announcer, Flower and the Magical Die of Judgment rate them out of 26 points. Then there's this disgusting chocolate ball eating contest. Both teams end up tying exactly, so Snowball rips the tiebreaker to secure victory for his team - the Squashy Grapes.

Match runs over to Leafy

Leafy, we need 3 cakes. Here's $15.

*Cut to Ice Cube, who is dancing*
Snowball throws the two metal balls he formed away. One of them hits Ice Cube and she shatters
The other metal ball smashes the Ice Cube Recovery Center, and a sign appears on the Ice Cube Recovery Center Creator that reads 'Est. Time Left: 75 min.'
Cut to Needle, who is pouring yeast into her bowl as Teardrop passes by
Okay I don't have much to say for this one except that I love the fact that the "Buh!" Pencil-to-bubble moment made it to the top three because I just love the "Buh!" because it's just a funny way you can see why Bubble "Buh!"
In episode 5, Needle's cake grows astronomically large and becomes a star but Needle pops it away. Then we see the Tiny Loser Chamber for the first time. For the contest, both teams must cross a rickety bridge over a very deep gorge but not a single contestant makes it across.

Snowball, you're not gonna throw me off, are you?
Okay this is the second time that the "Do-da-da-da-do-do-do" song makes it to the top 3. But also, let's talk about JUNYTONY YES BFDI PIN YES. Did they actually comment 8 times on this video? No, they only commented once. But because their comment has 11 timestamps, their comment gets drawn for every one of those timestamps. And no one else commented in that time span so they get this whole consecutive chunk to themselves. Good job, JUNYTONY! Let's move on to episode six.
In episode 6, the votes go down for the first time. Then the contestants are split into five teams of three and have to race across three islands in the style of The Amazing Race. Despite leading for the majority of the contest, Ice Cube's team finds two fake keys and falls into last place, putting them up for elimination.

Coiny, Icy, Needy...

You're the 5th and last team! One of you will be eliminated.
Viewers out there, vote between Coiny, Ice Cube, and Needle.
(While Announcer tells the audience to vote, the contestants up for elimination make sounds in distress. The sounds create a sort of a capella; Needle yells the melody, Ice Cube makes the bassline, and Coiny makes the beat.)

(on loop, simultaneously) No!

Don't they make a great team?
-OOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo-
No comment. And I'm probably gonna stop doing commentary for the rest of this video just so I can wrap it up quickly.
In episode 7, no team gets put up for elimination, but both teams get locked in a windowless room until they can solve a ridiculously easy nine-piece jigsaw puzzle. The Squashy Grapes win first, so as a prize, they get both Firey and their freedom.

Which is...?

I'm getting to that right now. Anyway, in the next contest, this contest's winning team chooses a contestant from the contest's losing team to be on their team. So no one gets sent to the TLC.

In episode 8, both teams participate in a five-versus-five relay race, where each contestant must carry the person running after them. Since the Grapes have many more members, they spend ages figuring out which members should participate. The rest of the episode is a montage of Ice Cube dying repeatedly using the technique shown in Blocky's Funny Doings International

In episode 9, Blocky is the first contestant in BFDI history to return to the game. After that, since the Squashy Grapes have twice the members of the Cherries, they get split into the Grapes and a new team called "Another Name" by Golf Ball. For the contest, it's a grueling five-legged race, including a section across a tightrope.

Well, Coiny, you're about to find out. Oh, and don't call me a Weird Speaker Box.

[Cake at Stake intro plays]
So, the votes are in-
-and with that, we've reached the end of the first phase of BFDI, and you can tell that because the Cake at Stake place changes in the next episode. So that's it for this video! And I know you might be thinking: Oh Cary's just recycling content at this point. And that may be true, but I do want to point out that this chat log is something that is new that I've been spending a lot of time on that I haven't seen many other YouTubers try to implement. I know that YouTube has this new Beta feature called timed comments, which are sort of similar, but you definitely don't get this fun, data-licious graph on the top of the screen that fascinates me so much. So I definitely think that this project provides a new perspective to old content. And I'm gonna be honest, I don't know if it's actually enjoyable for you guys to watch, so let me know if I should make more, or if it's not actually that interesting to watch, you know this will probably be the only one. But if you viewers really like it, then maybe I'll try it for other BFDI videos, who knows? Anyway, thank you for watching this video, and also hooray to 4,672 days of BFDI!
Cary Huang and Michael Huang throws BFDI Plushies to each other. Cary Huang bends down to catch a Firey plushie and a *rip* sound can be heard.
Did I rip something? Did I actually rip...
Michael Huang turns around while Cary Huang turns his back.
My underwear! I ripped my underwear!
*laughs*
The Footage is replayed twice to highlight the *rip* sound, with the second time being in slow motion.
And no, we're not gonna talk about the fact that 4,672 backwards is one away from a very special number in the BFDI Universe.
