In "Get Digging", Needle is concerned for Book and the others who are knocked off of Puffball.
In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4", Book welcomes Needle onto FreeSmart.
In "PointyPointyPointy ♫", Book feels guilty about leaving Needle to drag Pencil's dead body around, so she and Ruby send her the FreeSmart Super Coffin to help. Later, when Needle complains about her dead team member, Book says they'll give Pencil a stern talking-to at the next alliance meeting. When FreeSmart reunites on Dora's island, the two are part of the group hug. Later, Book helps stop Needle from popping Bubble.
In "Airplanes in the Night Sky", Book offers to make Needle a pair of wings, though she ignores the offer. Though offended by this, Book remains loyal to her former teammate, offering to help her and Fries out later on. This time, Needle accepts the offer, but Fries sabotages Book for his own amusement. Book later unties Needle from the final tower and tells her to come with her. She passes Needle a grappling hook to attack Tennis Ball.
In "🥚", the two run into one another as the challenge nears its end. Needle is surprised to see Book's massive crowd of recommended characters, and laments that she will never be able to win with only a spaceship. Book cheers her up by pointing out that the spaceship, if broken up, could count as multiple items.
In "Launch Party", Needle recovers Book along with Pin because she'd rather it be Coiny and Tennis Ball up for voting. Later then, Needle recovers Book again, after Book realizes there's 2 minutes left, she says it's fine and she can just collect more items, only to realize her basket is missing because she left it on the Really Weird Planet in the Orion Nebula. Needle, realizing this, gives Book an Immunity ticket, stating that Needle herself doesn't need it and there's someone else she'd rather put up for elimination.

In "Well, Look Who It Is!", Book tells Pencil that she was dead all of last episode, meaning she doesn't remember Needle doing an act of sacrifice.
In "Spore Day", Needle asks Book if she does not like her prize (her pages becoming sentient), and Book says she would rather just have cake. She looks surprised when said cake knocks Book onto the cloud below her.
In "Respect to the Wicked", when Needle got pressed to (not) switch teams, she starts sweating akin to what was seen in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 3", before choosing to be on FreeSmart and W.O.A.H. Bunch (FreeSmart being Book's team) at once, Book looked unimpressed, with the latter telling Needle that she's "definitely going to be up for elimination this episode".
In "🥚", Book again asks Needle to team up, but Needle is too busy playing for herself.
In "Launch Party", after the fish monster states that Needle can decide who can be safe or not, Book, along with the others, gasp.
Episodes suggesting a conflict[]
In "Start the Shift", Pencil's elimination leaves Book and Needle as the final remaining FreeSmarters. Book wants to keep working with Needle, but tells her she has to pick a side, since her both-teams strategy nearly got her eliminated. Ultimately, Needle chooses to work with Fries, much to Book's dismay.
In "🥚", Needle kicks her basket in front of Pin and Book's to steal Book's ice-cream sundae and recommended characters, leaving Book looking betrayed and confused.
In "Balancing P.A.C.T.", Book tries to fight off Needle because she was a threat, leading to Needle violently slamming her across the beam to get her off.
