This article lists the interactions between Book and Pencil.
In BFDIA, Book joined Pencil's alliance as an alternate but progressively was considered a more valuable member after "The Long-lost Yoyle City". In BFB, Book is seen to have became on bad terms with Pencil and decides to split off from the alliance, deeming it as unhealthy. In TPOT, Book is seen to have became archenemies with Pencil after the latter debuts in "Category One". Pencil tries to have an alliance with Book again numerous times, but Book and Ice Cube stay split off from her alliance, and Pencil is left distraught at this.
Episodes suggesting a friendship[]
In "Well Rested", Pencil asks if they should get balloons from the balloon store and Book agrees with the idea, the idea allows the FreeSmart SuperVan to float. Later when the team notices a pipe coming out of a building, Book tells Pencil to drive in reverse but they're in the sky so it's useless. At the end of the episode, Book and Pencil agree to the idea of making video diaries along with Ice Cube and Ruby.
In "Meaty", Book, Pencil and the alliance explore the remains of the Aerospace Manufacturing Plant, Pencil puts some gears as earrings and Book calls them "attractive". Later at the Cake at Stake, Book rejoices when Pencil is declared safe along with Ice Cube.
In "Lots of Mud", Book, Pencil and Ruby all celebrate Ice Cube getting declared safe. In the challenge, Pencil works with Book and Ruby to bribe Flower by getting her a new look, and later at fighting Coiny for the last key.
In "PointyPointyPointy ♫", after witnessing Pencil get poisoned by the bugs, she decides to fling Spongy to their location to kill them. Book points out Pencil would've liked being buried in the FreeSmart Super Coffin and gives it to Needle to help her and Pencil in the challenge. Pencil and Needle redirect the water of Teardrop's island to help them swim up and skip Dora's island. While inside the sunken pirate ship, Book helps Pencil along the other FreeSmarters escape Evil Leafy.
In "Spore Day", Both of them agree to form a team of three along with Needle, but they're separated as the method of separating the teams was misleading. Book later refuses to steal from Pencil for the challenge even in different teams.
In "Respect to the Wicked", Pencil brags to Book about beating her personal record. Throughout the episode the two are seen together, and Pencil seems to respect Book more now that she's the final full FreeSmart member other than herself.
In "Welcome Back", Book urges Ruby and Ice Cube to save Pencil from falling off the Yoyle Needy, but Ruby kills herself in the process. Book saves Pencil from the fall and tells her not to act so rowdy, they both go to the HPRC to recover Bubble, Ice Cube and Ruby.
In "Enter the Exit", Pencil has doodled all of her alliance members including Book on her desk.
In "Category One", Pencil is excited to see Book and Ice Cube again after years, she tries to ask them if Ruby or Bubble are with them but she gets dragged by Two to present her new team. Pencil tries to make an alliance between Book and her, but Ice Cube takes her away since they went their own way, Book later asks Ice Cube if she thinks if Pencil's changed at all, which could suggest that Book could forgive her.
In "Bottle For Dream Island", Book asks why Pencil can't give her the distance she needs, as Book did for Ice Cube, and Pencil says that Book is all she has left, and she wants to put her friendship back together.

In "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know", Pencil accidentally sets Book on fire with her breath.
In "Get Digging", Pencil warns her teammates including Book to watch out for wild Leafy.
In "No More Snow!", Match and Pencil laugh when Book considers rescuing members of Team No-Name from Evil Leafy. When Pencil angrily asks Ruby on if she's ever gone to Gem School, Book tells her that Gem School is only for diamonds.
In "It's a Monster", Book and Pencil have a conversation about the Leg-powered Recovery Center, Pencil tells her that she'd regret using her hands on it. Book does it anyway, which causes Pencil to yell at her and ask why she did it. Book tells her she didn't trust her words because she thought she was just trying to scare her.
In "The Long-lost Yoyle City", Book recommends that the team kills Pencil when a Fish Monster catches her with its tongue. Later, when Pencil kicks Rocky away for barfing on her, Book mentions how that happened two years ago, and Pencil tells her to stop talking and start climbing Yoyle Mountain.
In "Getting Teardrop to Talk", Pencil tries to get Book to help the alliance find who popped Bubble but Book refuses. Pencil then threatens to kick her out from the alliance but Book reminds her that she's just an alternate, Pencil grunts in response. When Pencil asks her alliance who the two other members should be, Book and Ice Cube decide to cut ties with FreeSmart and join Gaty's team, which makes Pencil and Match scream.
In "Bottle For Dream Island", Book explains what the Fourse is to Pencil.
Episodes suggesting a conflict[]
In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 3", Ice Cube asks Pencil if she can be in her alliance and Book also wants to be in it. Pencil nervously tells them they can be alternates, which seems to make Book incredibly angry.
In "Get in the Van", when Book and Ice Cube arrive at the The Clubhouse of Awesomeness, Pencil interrupts them and tells them they're not allowed in because they're only alternates, and they can only join the alliance when one of the members are eliminated. Match agrees with her and kicks them both out. During the challenge, Pencil yells at Book and Ruby for having a snowball fight inside the van.
In "Return of the Rocket Ship", Book tells her team that she and Ice Cube left Pencil's alliance due to being mocked and neglected by them.
In "Don't Dig Straight Down", Book tells Pin that she doesn't want to associate with Match or all of FreeSmart.
In "Category One", when Pencil joins the game and goes to talk to Book and Ice Cube, Book looks displeased at the news. Later, when Pencil offers to cross-alliance with Book, Ice Cube snatches Book away from her and she runs away, Book smiles at Ice Cube during that scene. At the end of the episode, Pencil and the rest of CloudYAY throw the fish monster towards Two's room since Book refused her offer, which causes Book and Ice Cube's team to lose.
In "I SAID CAREFUL!!!", Pencil keeps nagging Book and Ice Cube about joining her alliance, which annoys both of them a lot. Late in the episode, Book says she's tired of Pencil already and teams up with everyone to get Pencil's team put up for elimination.
In "Bottle For Dream Island", Book scolds Pencil for being selfish while on top of the Fourse, exclaiming that she would never be in an alliance with her ever again, to the point where she even yells "I HATE YOU!", much to Pencil's shock, and as a result, they end up fighting, with Book bringing up how she doesn't want to be friends with Pencil or be in an alliance with her because she doesn't want to be used for her selfishness. Afterwards, Pencil then flatly says "Then what good are you?" and tosses Book off the Fourse. Pencil then looks at Book with an angry, but eventually sad look, walking away to her clubhouse in frustration.
In "Last One Standing", Pencil uses part of her acquired Limitless Power to zap Book and steal her powers since they are no longer allies.
