Not to be confused with "Outbreak At Stake".
“ | Isn't it time for Cake at Stake? | ” |
— Firey, "Get in the Van"
|
“ | Enough screaming, gems! My life is at stake! | ” |
Cake at Stake (also called Brake at Flake by Four and Gelatin in "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset", "Today's Very Special Episode" and "The Tweested Temple", Break at Plate by Two in "Fishes and Dishes", and technically Cake’s Life is at Stake by Cake in “Spore Day”) is a closed ceremony for the losers who are up for elimination in Battle for Dream Island, Battle for Dream Island Again, Battle for BFDI, and Battle for Dream Island: The Power Of Two. The ceremony was introduced in "Barriers and Pitfalls".
At the ceremony, the safe contestants get a prize and the most voted contestant is eliminated. The prizes in Cake at Stake are not always cake and are not always used to grant safety, with the prizes ranging from crackers to shovels.
In Battle for Dream Island Again, instead of commenting to vote, voters must rate separate videos (either with a like or dislike) tied to the contestants, the contestant with the most likes will be able to spin a wheel to get a prize, and the contestant with the most dislikes will get eliminated.
In Battle for BFDI, the Cake at Stake system changed again. At the voting screen, there is a letter in a bracket that stands for another character. The letter in the bracket must be commented to vote between the 48 hours after the release date of each episode. In Battle for BFDI, when a contestant is eliminated, they enter the Eternal Algebra Class Withfour.
In X Marks The Spot, the voting system has changed, with the viewers now voting on who they want to save from getting eliminated (again with the letter in square brackets). The contestant who gets the least votes is eliminated and sent to the Big Rotating Building.
This same style of voting was also used in The Power of Two up until "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters", where it was modified: two teams will be up for elimination each episode, but voters will still only be able to cast one vote per episode, with the least-voted contestant on each team being eliminated. The location that the eliminated contestants are sent to is an upside down form of the Hotel.
In "Oneirophobe's Nightmare", the voting style was changed yet again. This time, votes are done via a poll in the description of the episode. Like with the previous style, voters have only one vote to save a contestant.
In "What's Up Bell's String?", the method was changed yet again. Now, with the same idea as double voting, instead of being able to save only one contestant, voters may vote to save a contestant on each of the teams up for elimination.
The intro has been changed a lot of times, varying from the simple saying of "Cake at Stake", to a "mini song" devoted to it, and changed back.

Notes[]
- In Episode 2, the "at" in the Cake at Stake intro is pink and the intro fades out. However, from Episode 3 onwards, the "at" is green and there is no fade. This was probably the result of having to remake the Cake at Stake intro in its own separate flash (.FLA) file. The original cake at stake intro was found in the FLA source files for BFDI Episode 2 Scene 1.
- In Episode 6, the votes dropped for the first time.
- In Episode 8, there was no Cake at Stake as the Tiny Loser Chamber was too small to fit any more contestants at that time.
- In Episode 9, the Cake at Stake was for the first ever rejoin. Blocky rejoined.
- In Episode 10, the Cake at Stake intro changed to the cake eating version.
- In Episode 13, the Cake at Stake intro changed to "There's Points Now" version.
- In Episode 15, it was revealed David had 39 votes, and Announcer asked viewers to not vote him.
- In Episode 17, Pencil got her first vote by a YouTuber named englishcreamcakes. Since then, she has been receiving votes.
- In Episode 18, 2 Cake at Stakes were done: one for the regular players in the first ever contestant vote, and one for the recommended characters for the first ever debut.
- In Episode 19, Pencil became the player eliminated with the highest number of votes up to that point: 259.
- In Episode 20, the Cake at Stake intro changed to "The Points are Gone" (paper) version. David also had the most votes for elimination: 331.
- In Episode 21, the eliminated contestants vote for who should be eliminated next. Two Cake at Stake songs are also played.
- In Episode 25, the final Cake at Stake in Season 1 was done to determine the winner of BFDI. This also featured the first double elimination, with Bubble and Leafy losing and Firey winning Dream Island. However, Bubble and Leafy did not go to the TLC, since Announcer released all the other 18 contestants, and BFDI Season 1 was over.
- Throughout BFDIA, a different variation of the Cake at Stake song is played in every episode.
- In "Zeeky Boogy Doog", Teardrop gets the most likes and dislikes.
- In "Well Rested", the votes that were cast over 10 years ago were displayed, even though they were spoiled 7 years prior in "Welcome Back".
- In "Intruder Alert", there is a record-breaking number of votes again, at 269,538. This is the first time, chronologically and release date-wise, that an episode received a 6-digit number of votes.
- In "Welcome Back", there was no Cake at Stake, instead showing the votes for Well Rested.
- In "Lick Your Way to Freedom", the first Cake at Stake intro got remixed, although the "at" is still pink and still fades out. This is used for the subsequent Battle for BFDI episodes.
- In "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset", the intro was omitted.
- As a result, 2 Cake at Stake intros are played in the following episode.
- In "What Do You Think of Roleplay?", "Return of the Rocket Ship", "The Four is Lava", and "The Escape from Four", the intro uses soundbites from Patrons who donated one dollar under the "Sing Cake at Stake" reward.
- In "The Escape from Four", Spongy is eliminated with a record of 22,845 votes.
- In "X Marks the Spot", the voting switches to saving the contestants.
- In "The Hidden Contestant", Profily debuts and is eliminated via disqualification, marking the second instance of a double elimination, as Woody also left in this episode.
- TPOT uses the original Cake at Stake intro from BFDI until TPOT 3.
- In "Chapter Complete", the second ever vote to win takes place. Flower ends up winning BFB.
- In "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters", double eliminations were introduced.
Trivia[]
- In total, there are 20 Cake at stake intros.
- Counting the imaginary cake in "Lofty", "A Leg Up in the Race", "Let's Raid The Warehouse", and "Fashion For Your Face!", are the only episodes to have no prizes for the safe contestants.
- "A Leg Up in the Race" and "SOS (Save Our Show)" have the only Cake at Stakes where only one contestant is safe.
- Cake at Stake sometimes uses character corpses as prizes. For example, Pie's corpse was used in "Bowling, Now with Explosions!", Donut's corpse was used in "Get in the Van" and the Firey Speaker Box was used in "Questions Answered".
- "Get in the Van" is the only episode in the series where the winning team is also given cake, in a similar fashion to how contestants got cake for not entering the danger zone in BFDI.
- The Chinese words shown in the Lewis and TV Edition are, in order: 面粉 (miànfěn; flour), 黄油 (huángyóu; butter), and 蛋糕 (dàngāo, cake).
- In BFB, every even-numbered episode has had a proper Cake at Stake intro, and every odd-numbered episode has had either no Cake at Stake intro or a broken one. This was later broken in the 7th episode.
- After the split however, a majority of the episodes have no Cake at Stake intro.
- In BFB 8 and 9, it is revealed that Clock rings every time Cake at Stake is about to start. Likely referencing how he did the same thing in "Get in the Van".
- Cake at Stake may not have a consistent starting time as Clock’s hands have been in different positions in all three instances.
- Dora, Bracelety, Liy, 8-Ball, Stapy, Foldy, and Profily are the only contestants who haven't received any prizes at Cake at Stake.
- Foldy is the only contestant to survive a Cake at Stake but not get a prize. This is because she was dead in a period where recovery was impossible.
- "Take the Tower" is the only episode that has only one team member get a prize for being safe.
- Donut, Cheese Orb, Pie, Firey Speaker Box, Leafy, Teardrop, Lollipop, and the Carrot Cake's are the only characters that were used as prizes for Cake at Stake.
- Regular cake's light and airy structure would make it explode in the vacuum of space, but Ice Cream cake would stay in the same shape while in the vacuum of space, likely due to its denser structure. This is explained in "Gardening Hero."
- While Episodes 6 and 7 had the Asbestos Cake, the cake would not be edible in real-life, as Asbestos can cause lung cancer, such as Asbestosis and Mesolthelioma if inhaled or even consumed.
