Ean (Ean) is a Variable character who first appeared in "Seasonal Shift". They are described as "the iconic 27th letter of the English alphabet".

Appearance[]

In "Seasonal Shift", they appear to be a lime green letter Ean, which appears to be somewhere between a T and a square root symbol. Unlike all other Algebralians, they only have one leg.

Personality[]

Not much is known about them, because they only appeared once for a few seconds. However, they may have a personality similar to Two.

  • There was actually a 27th letter of the alphabet, being the ampersand (&). However, since the late 19th century, it has been removed from the alphabet.
  • Ean is the first Algebralien with a speaking role to have only one leg.
  • Ean is the second variable to have a speaking role and host a season of BFDI, the first of course being X.
  • Ean is the first Algebralian to be based on something completely made up.
  • Various facts about Ean have been revealed by their voice actor, Ian Woodside:
    • Concept art for Ean has existed since 2023.[1]
    • Ean represents the 'ean' (IPA:ˈi͡an) sound in words like 'Caribbean'.[2]
    • Ian Woodside voiced the character solely due to them sharing a similar name.[3]
  • He is the third character voiced by Ian Woodside, following Gelatin and Printer.
