Back to the main Unused or unseen content page.

Throughout the history of Battle for Dream Island, there exists content that generally was not intended to be seen, noticed, or otherwise was lost to the basic audience at one point in time. Content here could include items from the drawings (TFI, TFP), the show (BFDI, BFDIA, IDFB, BFB, TPOT), hidden content out of bounds in .fla files for animations, or other media that is BFDI related.

Please note that for all intents and purposes, none of the information documented is considered to be canon with the rest of the series.

Teams[]

Eggy was originally going to be in BEEP, and the contestant who was going to take her spot on The Losers! was either Nickel or Roboty (but Satomi doesn't remember which of them).[1] It's most likely that it would be Nickel due to Roboty naming the team BEEP, but it's possible the team name would be something else without him.

Purple Face as the 64th contestant[]

It should've been purple face

Purple Face was originally going to take Loser's place, but Michael and Cary didn't know if it would add up to such a perfect number. Eventually, he was replaced with Loser because of Cary suggesting a character called Loser.

Loser's Design[]

On the same message about Purple Face, Loser was going to have his face in the same place as Blocky, but the crew didn't want a character in the same shape as Blocky. As a result, Michael thought Loser's face should be on the vertex of his body.

Nonexisty as a contestant[]

Nonexisty Deconfirmed

Nonexisty was briefly considered to be a contestant in BFB, but the crew shot down the idea because they agreed that he would be a waste of a slot. He would later return as a possible debuter in TPOT, but would be disqualified due to technically not existing.

BFB being biweekly[]

In the video "The Secret Behind BFB's Split", Cary mentions BFB originally being called "Sloppy BFDI", with episodes being made in only a couple of days. A remnant of this exists in the library of the BFB intro, with there being a symbol of text saying "EVERY OTHER FRIDAY" meaning that BFB was originally going to released every other week on Friday.

BFB intro every other friday

Getting Teardrop to Talk[]

Swapped Genders[]

Screenshot 20200424-130901

In the storyboard, Loser's line about telling Pencil to put down Naily, he refers to Naily as a male. According to Satomi Hinatsu from a tweet in 2017, this was because Naily was intended to be male early in production, but this was discarded due to the voice that Katherine Sun gave her sounded too feminine. The same tweet thread also states that Naily and Cloudy swapped genders, indicating that Cloudy was a female during the episode production. This was changed likely for the same reason Naily's gender was changed, but in this case, Michael Huang made Cloudy's voice too masculine.

Behind the Scenes[]

In a Humany video titled "CARY REACTS TO BFB EPISODE 1", Cary Huang reveals a change between the storyboard and the final episode.

  • Book was supposed to be angry to be an alternate when she mentions it to the alliance (mainly Pencil) but Cary said that the first episode shouldn't have negative feelings like anger.

Four Sketch[]

Beta

The .fla for the intro contains a sketch of Four's intro pose.

Four's unused mouth[]

UNUSED FOUR LIPSYNC

In 1-33.fla, When Four is pointing to X's baskets, a fully animated, lip-synced mouth is present. This is because by drawing the mouth and arm, Four is able to get the odd, scribbly animation they have in the early episodes.

Recovery Centers don't get sucked up?[]

Screenshot 20180809-180636

In a storyboard depicting the first part of the BFB intro, some notes are suggesting at one point, the recovery centers were not going to be sucked up by Black Hole. The idea was originally that the recovery centers were indeed going to be sucked up, but an edit in red ink later changes adds a "don't" before later the decision that the recovery centers would be sucked up, and the "n't" in "don't" is scribbled out.

Eraser's weird face[]

Screenshot (938)

The weird face.

In 1-1.fla during the scene where Pen says that the parallelogram is a Rectangle, offscreen Eraser makes a weird face & Pen looks at him strangely.

Gaty’s unused line[]

There's a cut line in 1-42.fla of Gaty saying an unused line of dialogue with the writing "OMIT THIS":

Gaty

I'm hanging, I'm hanging!

It is unknown why this line exists. but it's more likely that Gaty's death was possibly going to take place inside of the World's Largest Oven.

Shortened Donut line[]

In 1-3.fla, Donut had an extended line of dialogue saying:

Donut

Yeah, I... know that, but why?

...Which was shortened to:

Donut

Yeah, but why?

The scene is completely lip-synced, and it is unknown why it was cut (most likely it is because Donut has known about forks before). A user found it, which it can be found here. Another user uploaded the full scene here.

Strange drawing and F[]

In Copy of 4dance.fla, a drawing in the asset library can be seen, this concludes of 2 strange human characters and the letter F. They are most likely joke drawings.

Strange
EFFFFFFFFFFFAHHHH

Asset Intro[]

In the intro-charzoom.fla a hidden layer can be accessed and displays every asset from the contestants in the normal orderly fashion sped up to end before the title screen. This was most likely just a reference for the order of everyone during it.

Lollipop taking Eggy's Role[]

In the scene where Teardrop was sitting at the end of the cliff and Eggy talked to her about silence, Lollipop was intended to fill this role. She still retained her lines and role after she appeared on screen and shows off her Fork Repellent.

Armless Lightning[]

Armless Lightning

Lightning was depicted as armless early in the storyboard, but during the team picking scenes, he gains arms. It was likely that Lightning was originally supposed to stay limbless in BFB.

Pillow Swears[]

Pillow Swears

In the scene where Pillow explains her research on arm fluttering, Pillow was supposed to say the F word. In the final episode, she says "fluff" instead.

Lack of leg is NOT CANON[]

Not canon

When Four says "The Losers! are safe!", there's an off-screen text saying "Lack of leg is NOT CANON".

Dora's Rant[]

Dora speech

After Lollipop tells Dora to shut her pie hole, Dora responds angrily. However, it appears that the actual dialogue for her was created. This was possibly cut due to the 4-second timeframe of Dora's comeback made it near impossible to display.

It was later revealed on the Battle for Dream Island Wiki Discord server that the reason why the speech was cut was according to Satomi Hinatsu, dropped by Michael Huang due to it "dampening the comedic timing".[2]

Four says "hey guys" before crushing Black Hole[]

In a storyboard that can be found in 4dance.fla, it is shown that Four would have said "Hey guys" before crushing Black Hole to a smaller size. This was also done by Two in "The Escape from Four".

Satomi is best girl[]

Nickel's asset contains some hidden handwriting saying "satomi is best girl".

Nick le

Fanny with arms[]

In the storyboard, Fanny is shown with arms for a single drawing. It is unknown if this was an error or if it was intentional, though it's likely this was just a mistake.

Teardrop slaps Gaty[]

Teardrop originally slapped Gaty instead of Taco in the desert scene.

Flower original line[]

Flower was originally going to say "I swear I've changed!" instead of "We don't have to be!"

Early Foldy Asset[]

An early version of Foldy's asset hidden on guide layers. It has slightly different colors than the final Foldy asset, and is made up of 4 layers instead of being one single layer.

Nickel using Pre-BFB Asset[]

In .flas for BFB 1 that take place before Nickel appears, his asset is his pre-BFB asset.

Fanny in Thumbnail[]

The thumbnail.fla file for BFB 2 contains remnants of BFB 1's thumbnail.fla file, and of those remnants are graphics of Fanny being electrocuted, likely meaning Fanny was going to be in the thumbnail instead of Flower.

Unused Four in intro[]

An unused version of Four appears in the background scenery after the title appears, but it is covered by the title.

BFB intro unused four

Lick Your Way to Freedom[]

Deleted Recommended Characters[]

There are several recommended characters whose assets are left in the flash files of BFB 2, but were not displayed as recommended characters. Most of these characters were likely cut due to the content contained within them being copyrighted.

Ice cube's shortened line[]

In 2-12.fla, there is a storyboard piece and it has a cut line:

Ice Cube

Thanks!

It was changed to:

Ice Cube

Yay!

It's possible that the "Thanks!" said would be a reused line, like many of Ice Cube's lines were.

Cloudy at the Waterfall[]

Cloudy visits Roboty

In a storyboard located in 2-16.fla, there is a scene that depicts Cloudy flying above the waterfall that Roboty visited. If Cloudy visited the waterfall, he would have been the 2nd member to visit the Waterfall before Woody.

Unused Yellow Face commercial scene[]

In a storyboard for this episode, there is an audio-only scene depicting one of Yellow Face's commercials, but on May 12, 2020, it was confirmed that this scene is not canon, since it is audio-only. Here is the cut scene:

Fries

Ok Yellow Face, let's see those leadership skills in action. What should we all do?

Yellow Face

Need a more efficient way to burn through jawbreakers?

Yellow Face

Follow this easy four step guide!

Fries

What is this thing? What do I do with it?

Eraser

Marker snatches TV and Eraser puts Yellow Face's cassette tape into TV.

Yellow Face

(voice only) 1, collect a lot of saliva. 2, dump the saliva onto the jawbreaker. 3, let it all sit for just a few seconds. 4, CHEOOOOOMP!!

Free Food all spit into Bell and they pour the spit onto a jawbreaker. Stapy breaks it open and Fries interrupts him just before he can finish Step 4.

Fries

Wait, Stapy! What if someone is inside? You could hurt them! It can be Foldy!

Stapy

What's so bad if it's Foldy?

Blocky proceeds to take TV and announce his plan to ABNTT.

Blocky

Okay guys, I think we have a new plan.

The cut scene ends and it switches to X telling Leafy that their team is missing a team member.

This is what the fourth last line was changed from before the scene was scrapped entirely:

Fries

Wait, Stapy! What if Foldy's in there? You could hurt her!

It was changed to this before the scene got scrapped entirely:

Fries

Wait, Stapy! What is someone inside? You could hurt them! It can be Foldy!

If you want to see a fan-recreation of the scene with the audio, click here.

Yellow Face's 4-Step Guide VHS[]

There are two unused files of Yellow Face's 4-Step Guide VHS, which can be found in some of the .fla files of BFB.

Leafy's extended line[]

In 2-18.fla, there is another storyboard piece and it has another line that was cut:

Leafy

Nickel, you have a new job.

It was changed to:

Leafy

Nickel, I'm sorry to take away your job, but I have a new one for you.

This line means that Leafy is hiring Nickel

Balloony dabs[]

Balloony Dabs in BFB 2

In a storyboard in 2-25.fla, there is an alternate cut of the scene where Woody dabs, but Balloony dabbed instead of Woody.

Alternate Leafy line[]

In a storyboard when Leafy pops Balloony her line is different.

Scrapped Thumbnail[]

Thumbnail0001

On the first frame of the thumbnail.fla file for this episode, there is a scrapped thumbnail that shows Nickel and Woody. Woody's pose in this thumbnail was reused in the final thumbnail, just saturated, and Nickel was removed and replaced by Taco in the jawbreaker.

Unused Voting Icons[]

There were 8 unused rectangular voting icons for members of BEEP. These can be found in 5-vote.fla. The character poses from these were reused in the rectangular voting icons.

Why Would You Do This on a Swingset[]

Four screeches Cloudy[]

When Cloudy said "I noticed you were gone!", Four would have screeched him.

Double dab[]

Bfb3storyb

After being told he's safe, Nickel told his teammates to dab, but no one listens.

Gaty mad[]

Originally, Saw wouldn't have been mad at Taco, and it would have been Gaty instead.

It's possible that if this idea carried on, Saw would have knocked sense into Book in BFB 13 instead of Gaty.

Bomby a little bit exploded[]

When Gelatin says "It's okay Bomby, you're only a little bit exploded", he and his teammates would have been charred.

Swingset Concept Art[]

Inside some of the .flas of the episode contains some concept art of the Swingsets.

Beep loses[]

BEEP Loses BFB 3

Satomi Hinatsu has previously stated that Beep was intended to lose again in BFB 3, but the idea was dropped in favor of Team Ice Cube!.

Nonexisty[]

In a scrapped storyboard of BFB 3, Ruby asked Four why Nonexisty wasn't included in BFB, the scene was dropped and isn't counted within the show's canon.

Uncropped BFB 3 scene[]

BFB_3_(Uncropped)

BFB 3 (Uncropped)

During when Four tells X that nobody noticed that he was gone, X crying was shown throughout until when Four tells the contestant to get into their swings.

Reverse Race[]

In the same scrapped storyboard for BFB 3, the contest was going to be a reverse race. Whichever team was the last to start running would lose. It was dropped for being "genuinely unfunny" and too short.

When questioned on Discord, Satomi Hinatsu provided additional details regarding the production of the storyboard. She apparently wrote the storyboard by herself, and once considered it funny, which she now disagrees with. The storyboard was written on November 20th, 2017 and was scrapped a few hours later when Michael Huang went to record the lines and criticized the storyboard due to a lack of jokes. Satomi does not recall Cary Huang seeing the storyboard.[3][4] At the end of Lick Your Way to Freedom, many characters are seen running, so it's possible that this was already a concept before BFB 3 started production.

The idea of stabbing Naily into the ground would eventually be reused in The Four is Lava.

Early Thumbnail[]

The original thumbnails for BFB 3 were different than the current thumbnail. These thumbnails show Book pushing the swings with Saw and Dora flying out of them. The first version isn't contrast, while the second version is contrast.

Today’s Very Special Episode[]

TV says Error[]

In 4-1.fla, when the intro's audio starts, it is stopped in less than a second with a staticky sound then a ding. TV says "Error" after the sounds play.

Unfinished Rocky Assets[]

In the files of BFB 4, files for what appears to be a top view of Rocky that transitions to his normal view is present in the files. A .zip archive of these assets can be found. those assets are used in BFDIA 6. here.[dead link]

Marker's original RPS moves[]

In the storyboard, Marker was originally intended to play a five-pointed star instead of a house, alongside the Declaration of Independence rather than a hecatonicosahedroid.

Stapy's line cut short[]

In 4-2.fla, when Marker was playing rock paper scissors and played Four, Stapy was originally going to say:

Stapy

Oh my God, Marker!

but it got cut to:

Stapy

Marker!

Get your butts over here[]

5297C280-03BB-4BF7-952B-B018BC7B3F34

As seen in Cary voicing BFB 4 lines, Four was originally going to say:

Four

Get your butts over here.

It was later changed to:

Four

Get your feet over here.

It was likely changed since objects don't have butts (not counting the BFDIA 5b thumbnail, which depicts Firey and Coiny with butts).

Satomi up for voting[]

Type -I- to eliminate SATOMI

In the .fla of the voting screen for Death P.A.C.T., there is something off-screen that reads "Type [I] to eliminate SATOMI". "Satomi" refers to Satomi Hinatsu, who is one of the animators for Battle for BFDI, and this joke was offscreen, making it unseen content.

Early Tennis Ball Icon

Old Tennis Ball Voting Icon[]

In 4-12.fla, the voting icon for Tennis Ball can be found, despite never being up for elimination. There are 3 differences in this early voting icon: 1, a leg is missing, 2, Tennis Ball is lower and 3, it's not as saturated.

Fortunate Ben[]

Storyboard Piece[]

Screen Shot 2018-01-12 at 8.38

A storyboard fragment of Stapy descending with staples can be seen. It is dated January 12th, 2018.

Cake's Role[]

Cake Confirmed BFB 5

In a Humany video featuring Cary Huang recording his lines for BFB 4, part of the BFB 4 storyboard is visible. For a portion of the video, a part containing the night scene contained a note in green text by the storyboarder saying that they wish that they could give Cake screentime, but felt that Eggy and Teardrop were more important. In all capital letters, they say that they want "MORE CAKE IN BFB 5!!!!!".

In the actual episode, Cake only appears on his team's paper plane and has no lines of dialogue. It is unknown why the idea of Cake receiving a role in BFB 5 was dropped but it is likely that Kenzie was feeling sick before she voiced all of her characters. This part of the storyboard was intentionally cropped out in the BFB 4 storyboard video.

Bitmaps[]

Bitmaps of Free Food and BEEP are able to be found in the episode's files. They are all low resolution images of the contestants on each team's members. Interestingly, Leafy is present in the bitmaps despite her being eliminated in "Lick Your Way to Freedom". A .zip document containing the bitmaps can be downloaded here.

Unused Liy Line[]

Schermafbeelding 2020-10-20 om 17.39

In the elimination, Liy was actually supposed to say:

Liy

Oh no, I'm in the bottom two? Hmmm, I said one pun two months ago so that should switch me from "not safe" to "safe".

Instead of:

Liy

Oh no! I'm in the bottom two? Hmm... I said one pun two months ago.. so voters should see me in a positive light!

Possible reasons why this line was changed was to keep it short and simple, or keep Liy more enthusiastic and in-character.

Four Goes Too Far[]

Donut's changed line[]

According to Cary reacts to BFB Episode 6, when Donut said:

Donut

Huh? This can't be real...

It was originally going to be:

Donut

Oh dear God...

They considered this phrase to be too harshly worded.

Original rocket landing[]

Caedmon Johnson, one of the BFB animators, wrote a post on Twitter, saying that the rocket landing was originally going to land in a humorous way, but this got changed during production.

The Liar Ball You Don't Want[]

Original Bomby pop toy color[]

Outside of the border of 7-1.fla on the scene where Bomby gets launched in the air from the red popper toy, the original color for the popper toy was orange outside the border before the part played.

Whatthe

Donut's unheard line[]

According to Cary's reaction to BFB 7, when Loser was eliminated, Donut was supposed to say that he is the first contestant to get a number of votes with 5 digits.

Top Hat was here[]

In 7.3.fla, there is a drawing of the head of TopHatTheHat's persona that is found in the symbol of the recommended character Duck Bill, next to the head says "Top Hat was here". which he is joking as he designed Half of the Recommend Characters of this episode.

Top Hat was here

Different Donut line[]

In 7-4.fla, there is an audio file of the scene, but instead of Donut saying "Looks like we've got our seventh contest!", he says "Looks like we've got our sixth contest!"

Glitchy noise[]

In 7-6.fla, after Basketball says "And there's someone I know who can receive orders!", a weird glitching noise can be heard.

Yellow Face and Pen[]

Outside of the 7-7.fla file when Remote receives A Better Name Than That's connection, in the background Pen would've been seen taking the liar ball from Yellow Face.

Off-screen[]

Off screen things

On the 7-7.fla file, a text says 'OFF-SCREEN THINGS ARE NOT CANON' after Blocky alerts ABNTT that the Liar Ball was heading for Bleh's goal.

Questions Answered[]

Behind the Scenes[]

In a Humany video titled "CARY REACTS TO BFB 8", Cary Huang reveals some changes between the storyboard and the final episode.

  • Someone was going to say Clock wasn't supposed to ring or was at the wrong time. It was cut because he thought it was dumb and conflicted with Clock's honest character.
  • When GB said to TV not to fudge the results, TV was originally going to show an X, but was cut because "it ruined the joke".
  • Donut was going to say to Lollipop "Hey, it's a subconscious habit!", but was dropped because he didn't want BFDI to be "overly wordy".
  • They were about to mess with the one-way portal thing for a few extra pages of storyboard (4 or 5). Cary cut it because he didn't want the Cake at Stake to be too long.
  • Someone was supposed to tell Saw "Yeah, that's dangerous" after she inhaled the 8-Ball fumes, but was cut.
  • According to Cary, the reason why Match and Snowball bullied Bubble was because he feared a quiz contest would be boring so he needed to add more substance.
  • Donut was supposed to say "Barf Bag, I've been trying to give you easy shots!", but he thought it sounded weird so he used "pieces of cake" instead since they're already established in BFDI.
  • The reason why the final question involved seasons is that Cary initially wanted the question to be 3 answered with both teams getting it wrong, realizing the third (correct) answer, and race to answer it. He doesn't know why he chose seasons instead, and the "race to the correct answer" idea was dropped.

TV Should Win[]

In one of the .flas, when TV is off-screen it says "Comment 'TV Should Win'".

Gelatin's Nervousness[]

Additionally, In 8-1.fla, When Gelatin slides over to Barf Bag, he is seen with a much different facial expression than in the actual episode. He nervously taps his hands together twice while talking to her, it is unknown why it was removed but it is likely that the file was changed or a copy or the final version of this wasn't released to the Google Drive. (Extra reason: Might look like Gelatin might have a crush on her, they didn’t want them too think that.)

Unused_gelatin_animation

Audio Changes[]

In the 8-1.fla file, Match's voice is unedited.

In the 8-12.fla file, Clock's voice is TV's voice used in TPOT.

BFDI_Unused_and_Unseen_Content

BFDI Unused and Unseen Content

In some scenes, Donut's voice sounds lower in the Flash files than the actual episode.

During the ending when Match shows Donut the footage, there's an extended version in one of the .flas of him watching the footage.

Scratch up for voting[]

8-9

In 8-9.fla, for one frame after Bubble answered zob-zap, there is text outside the borders that says "[❤️] to eliminate scratch" meaning that the said-animator who made this animation is also Up for Elimination.

"Don't read this" and character icons[]

In 8-15.fla during the voting screen, there is text above the border reading "Don't read this". During the same voting screen, at the bottom of the border, the voting icons for Flower, Fanny, Lightning and Snowball are next to each other. A big version of Stapy's voting icon is at the right side of the border.

Floating Fries[]

After Stapy cheats, Fries's body floats onto his legs offscreen.

Fries Oh, I finally get it! Good job!

This Episode Is About Basketball[]

Hidden text & "SUBSCRIBE"[]

Not x text

"definitely not x"

Hidden text is scattered around the .fla files. In 9-3.fla during the scene where Lightning holds Gelatin to grab X out of Fries, there's text below where X's head is shown which says "definitely not x" (the easter egg can also be found in BFB 8 when Gelatin sees X on Fries).

Subscribe text

"SUBSCRIBE"

In several scenes, the word "SUBSCRIBE" appears commonly outside of the camera. In 9-3.fla when Gelatin bites X, there's written text to the right of the scene off-screen that says "SUBSCRIBE" that appears a frame before the scene switches. this hidden text word was written by Satomi most likely

In 9-4.fla when Donut gives X the job as a host, there's text below X saying "DO YOU LOVE TEXT? SUBSCRIBE". In 9-5.fla when X says "sorry", it appears on the picket fence to the right, with the word spread in individual letters on the top of each part. It appears for 1 frame to the right when Free Food agrees with strawberry cake, at the bottom when Stapy hears he got eliminated, on one of the tiles for 1 frame when Stapy walks away, and in 9-16.fla at the bottom in frame 166 and 183.

In 9-18.fla at the beginning, there's text to the left saying "@satomi add in the free food balls when you do the digging scene so its the same balls". This is most likely a note to add the balls in at a later date.

In 9-night (old fixed).fla, after Donut told X he did a good job, the letter "C" randomly appears at the bottom right outside of the camera.

Unused X line[]

In 9-4 when X questions if it's okay to have a regular cake, he says "sorry" with his right hand behind his back. There's a message onscreen saying "OMIT THIS WORD" when he says it, so the footage would be cut on that part as X was .

Animatic[]

There's an animatic for 9-8.fla hidden in one of the layers at the top named "animatic."

Weird Donut[]

Dont

In 9-night (old fixed).fla in the scene after Donut told X he did a good job hosting, the body that was used when Donut was walking away contains him with tiny arms waving along with tiny eyes making an "O" mouth. This was probably a joke, as it was off-screen.

Enter the Exit[]

X's sigh[]

In 10-6.fla, after X talks about the contest and gets interrupted by Clock, he has a brief, soft sigh and a look of disappointment, in release he does the same, except being at the end of the fla, it was likely just muted.

Firey's unused line[]

In 10-8.fla, there is an unused "Grr..." said by Firey. There is text saying "OMIT GRR".

Hidden text and "SUBSCRIBE"[]

Much like the previous episode, the hidden "SUBSCRIBE" text are scattered throughout the Flash files.

Firey's omitted grunt[]

In 10-8.fla, Firey can be heard grunting before using the syringe on Donut.

Poorly drawn syringe[]

Poorly drawn syringe

offscreen syringe

In 10-8.fla, while Firey is holding the syringe with Four inside, there is a poorly drawn syringe offscreen.

Weird face[]

In 10-8.fla for a frame, there is a weird face.

This is X

This is X[]

In 10-12.fla, at the scene where Four is eliminating Loser while he's in the liar ball, there's an unseen text written on X's half reading "This is X".

"Type [J] to waste your vote"[]

Waste your vote

In 10-14.fla there is a text that reads "Type [J] to waste your vote".

Blue Ball[]

In 10-18compf.fla, when Leafy says her line, a part of Four's body has a poorly-drawn character saying "its me blue ball". Two extra non-colored drawings possibly resembling this also appear in the last two frames of this scene.

Unfinished Renders of The Exit with 3D models of characters[]

In the fla's for exit scenes, there are images of unrendered versions of The Exit that also contain 3D models of the characters that appear in that scene and their positioning. These images are rendered in fullbright, have multiple instances of the Blender camera model visible, and the 3D models are shown are actually stuck on the image itself, so there are no actual "assets" of the 3D models; just images of scenes.

Some of the 3D models visible appear to be rather detailed and true to the assets made in Flash, like Roboty and Pencil's models, but most lack outlines and are basically unfinished; Leafy, Liy, Bracelety, and 8-Ball's models resemble the main assets minus details but lack outlines; Stapy consists of just two red blocks, Four is just an outlineless picture of himself and David is just a black stick figure with the legs slightly misplaced.

These images appear to be meant to be storyboards in some way to help with the positioning of characters and likely weren't meant to be used. Considering the detail on Pencil and Roboty's models though, it might be possible that the characters in EXIT were meant to be fully 3D modeled at some point in development, but this concept was scrapped.

Get to the Top in 500 Steps[]

Vote for Mario[]

Maro

In 11-1comp.fla, when Four enters the Exit some text can be seen off-screen that says "Type an [M] to vote for Mario". which the text was refers to be a person (like 'Sam' in BFDI 2), or possibly the video game character, Super Mario.

Unrendered Images of The Exit with 3D models of characters again[]

Just like Enter the Exit, there exist images of unrendered scenes in the Exit that contain 3D models of characters in the spots they appear in. These are present as .pngs in the .flas the scenes are filmed in, which likely indicates that everyone would have originally received slices of the Photo Cake and then would soon become CGI before the idea was cut.

Rule of thirds[]

Some scenes have invisible layers with a black 3x3 grid. This grid does not show up and it appears that the grid was used to help keep the sizes of the characters in the scene consistent.

Hidden X Stair Frames[]

Two unused frames of X walking up the stairs from 11-6.fla that aren't seen due to them not being in view of the camera.

Rough drawing of Ruby laying down[]

A rough drawing of Ruby laying down in 11-7.fla that appears off-screen for a single frame. It is most likely a reference drawing.

WT text[]

Hand-drawn text saying "WT" appears off-screen in 11-8.fla for a single frame. What it stands for is unclear but it possibly refers to the Win Token.

Feather drawing[]

Also off-screen in 11-8.fla is what seems to be a drawing of a feather.

Bfb 11-8 hand

Asset guide layer[]

A guide layer is present in both 11-8.fla and 11-9.fla, containing assets for Stapy from the top and front, orange David, Pin's cake and its corresponding slices, a mutilated Naily, tea cups, a golf club, and win and gratitude tokens.

Alternate 11-16 audio[]

There is alternate audio for 11-16.fla, with the only difference being Dora's wind sound being shorter.

Alternate 11-17 audio[]

There is alternate audio for 11-17.fla, where Flower's footstep sounds say at the same volume and don't become quieter as she gets further away from the camera.

What Do You Think of Roleplay?[]

Storyboard Piece[]

Bitmap 4

A storyboard of Golf Ball doing a strange face dated July 6th, 2018 can be found in 12-7.fla is it likely used as posing ref for GB.

Joshua[]

IMJOSHUA

In 12-11 there is a hidden drawing of a person saying "I'M JOSHUA" with a shirt and a star. He is fully transparent and stays there for the entire scene, despite this, he doesn't appear in the episode. Joshua is a contestant from Caedmon Johnson's object show that they canceled, "Battle for Drawpile"(one of the possibly creative difference reason is because she wanted to make his new object show rather that animating BFB 13).

Return of the Rocket Ship[]

ZOOM OUT I GUESS[]

11111

A note written out of bounds when Taco walks away from Barf Bag covering her "ears" can be seen, reading "ZOOM OUT I GUESS" which most likely uses as Reference for the camera.

Diagrammers[]

Diagrammers

The version without Barf Bag.

Diagrammers fixed

The version with Barf Bag, which can be found in 13-9.fla.

Revisions of a partially unused image named "Diagrammers" can be found in the episode flas. It shows icons for each contestant stretched to fit the same resolution. For some reason, one revision of the image shows a duplicate Ice Cube in Barf Bag's place. While some icons were used, the rest remain unused thus far.

Hidden text "Sub scribe"[]

Subscribe bfb13

Like in BFB 10, the text "Sub scribe" appears offscreen. It appears in the scene 13-10.fla, right before the camera cuts to Firey Jr. getting eliminated.

Satomi Hinatsu insignias[]

Xxxxxx

The scene where Four and X stand there before X starts to descend into Earth has what appears to be Satomi's symbol out of bounds.

Satomi Symbol in 13-25dirty

In the file 13-25dirty.fla, a Satomi symbol can be seen out of bounds.

Evil Leafy Jumpscare Sound[]

In the file 13-25.fla, there's Evil Leafy's Jumpscare sound with Book, Ice Cube, and Spongy screaming. This is the same sound from Get Digging, except it's pitched down. This sound effect is Book, Ice Cube, and Spongy screaming. It is unknown why the sound effect was pitched down in Get Digging, but most likely to prevent it from being bland and just have Book, Ice Cube, and Spongy screaming.

Unseen Dictionary Definitions[]

In the .flas of BFB 13, there are a few unseen entries in Book are present. Barf Bag's entry appears to foreshadow her losing her barf and eventual death, which appears to be part of the reason why BFB 13's files weren't released until after BFB 14 was released.

Don't Dig Straight Down[]

Storyboard Piece[]

BFB 14 Storyboard Fragment

A storyboard of Barf Bag and Gelatin dated May 22nd, 2019 can be found in the internal files.

Inverted Planet Planning Sketch[]

Weird Ground Thing

A sketch for the entrance to the Buried Forest, with Taco, Book and Lollipop sketches. It is unknown why they would be here, as Team Ice Cube! is the team that entered the Buried Forest.

Second Barf Bag[]

During the scene where Bomby fills Barf Bag up with the lake water, you can slightly see a second Barf Bag body in the bottom right corner.

Unseen Firey cameo[]

Fireys bfb14 appearance not shown just hidden

Other than being shown in clips, Firey makes no physical appearance in this episode whatsoever. However, if Spongy and his spaceship during the iance's message scene, located in 13-71a.fla, is removed, he can be seen crossing his arms, possibly trying to ignore Leafy based on his position. Eggy and Leafy are also seen playing Tic-Tac-Toe.

Balloony's unused facial expression[]

Balloony unused facial expression

In 13-71b.fla, the last two frames consist of Balloony making an angry expression which isn't seen in the episode.

Naily's deleted line[]

In the files of BFB 14 during the scene where Coiny and Cake encounter Woody and Naily, Naily has a completely animated line that was cut. She says:

Naily

Well, I'm not Golf Ball, and real Golf Ball's dead, so... no.

The line was cut possibly because Naily's way of pronouncing "Golf Ball" was erroneous, sounding like "Gulf Ball". The line can be seen here.

Fortnite[]

Handwritten text saying "FORTNITE" can be found out of bounds in 13-67.fla.

OH MY GOD WHATY

Dramatic Cat, Again gif[]

In 13-87.fla, there are images of Mylo the Cat turning his head labeled "catturn1_*number*". They come from a video called Dramatic Cat, Again, uploaded by Mylo the Cat (@hiddentracktv2). It is possible that when Woody was falling down the stairs, Mylo the Cat would have been shown looking at him, or that the gif was added to the file as a joke.

Catturn

Electric Blocky[]

An image of the BFDI 25 recommended character, Electric Blocky. The image is named "th.jpg", which can be found in 13-87.fla. That’s possibly to be a ref of the 3rd Recommend Characters scene

In some .flas there are unused images like when Puffball is spinning Bell, Bell has a lot of images of her blurry than transforming to normal.

Satomi Symbols[]

In the file 15-04_candidate7.fla, a symbol from Satomi can be seen offscreen.

Satomi Symbol in 15-12 candidate2

In the file 15-12_candidate2.fla, two symbols from Satomi can be seen offscreen.

Scrapped Needle Line[]

In 15-16.fla, there is a clip of Needle saying "I don't have time for this" before grabbing Coiny. It was never animated.

Scrapped Tennis Ball Line[]

In 15-15.fla, before Robot Flower has the flashback of Basketball figuring out how she worked, Tennis Ball said "Oh, if only Basketball were here, she would know how to fix you."

Coiny, Leafy, and Firey's reactions to Eggy shouting[]

In the scene where Eggy shouts "She what!?" after Firey says Leafy stole Dream Island, there are unseen reactions to Eggy's shouting.

Four Sketch[]

In 15-11.fla there is a sketch of four throwing Death P.A.C.T out of his mouth titled "4 drawing"

BFB 15 4 drawing

Maroue Reus' Desktop[]

Cd

The desktop of an in-process animation of Death P.A.C.T. putting their arms out of Four's mouth can be seen. Also, several other private production tidbits can be seen, such as a Microsoft Azure account called "Tracknjellify".

Bitmap 293 copy[]

Bitmap 293 copy

In the file 15-17_final.fla, a bitmap file shows a Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar (a Belgian military plane) inside a military location. It was likely used as a reference for the recommended character "FLYING BOXCAR".

The Escape from Four[]

Unrendered images of EXIT with 3D models of characters yet again[]

As with "Enter the Exit" and "Get to the Top in 500 Steps" before it, the .fla of scenes 16-1, and 2 (EXIT scenes) contains unrendered images of The EXIT with 3D models of characters. The images are fully rendered instead of being fullbright for some reason, and 8-Ball's model has been squished. Two new placeholder models can be seen used for both Dora and the Liar Ball.

Storyboard Pieces[]

Unused EXIT Render[]

Alternate Ending Scene[]

There is an alternate fla for the part where Two tells the viewers to vote for someone to join TPOT, where they calmly say "TPOT" instead of excitedly shouting "The Power of Two!"

Weird Four[]

Cursed four bfb 16

When Ruby talks to Four before Four upgrades to a BFB, Four has a tiny face and limbs. This was probably a joke, as it was offscreen.

bfb here?[]

You can see a white text with a black background saying, “bfb here?” in front of a BFB offscreen. This was probably a ref

Gelatin's cut beatbox[]

TopHatTheHat posted a tweet of an uncut Gelatin beatbox scene. At 0:03, there was a second part where Gelatin continues beatboxing.

Two With an Ok Hand[]

16-20comp
Twokay rough

In 16-20.fla, when Taco is walking over to Four, if you remove Taco, you can see that Two is doing the ok hand.

Two's Poses[]

Screen Shot 2020-03-27 at 7.10

Some parts of the episode have random sketches of Two, found in the .fla files due to them being off the view from the main episode. One example is when Four is recovering Bottle, some of these sketches are present. A possible reason for these sketches is because an animator (most likely XanyLeaves) was practicing drawing Two's shape.

The TPOT Cast's Reactions to the Recommended Characters[]

TPOTCastReactionsToRCs

In 16-23comp2.fla, when the camera pans to the recommended characters for the first time, most of the TPOT cast originally looked at them after cheering (most of them with check-it eyes, only a few had a different expression or didn't react). Due to how fast and soon the pan occurred, however, only Remote's and Tree's reactions are seen, with the latter's only being visible for a single frame. The rest only react offscreen in the .fla file.

Blender’s Original Audition[]

In the .fla file for BFB 16, there’s an unused Blender audition that was slower than the one that appears in the episode.

Alternate Final 14 Cast Photo[]

Alternate Final 14

In 16-26comp-power.fla, there is an unused alternate cast photo of the final 14, this includes Ruby and Woody switching places. Woody was originally going to remain the same, staying as tiny, orange, and dented.

Moldy English Cream Cake placeholder[]

In 16-12comp.fla the asset for the Moldy English Cream Cake is replaced with a placeholder consisting of a crude drawing of the Cake with text of its name on it.

CreamCakePlaceHolder

30 recommended characters up for debut for TPOT[]

At one point, there was originally going to be 30 recommended characters up for debut for TPOT instead of 26. Cake Pop, a recommended character, was also going to be one of the recommended characters up for debut. This was mentioned by Cary at the near end of his BFB 22 reaction, later got scrapped as the voting system only carried 26 letters.[5]

Early Thumbnail[]

Static-assets-upload2688887662803411850

In the BFB Patreon Only Discord Server, Satomi posted the original thumbnail of BFB 16. It looks different than the current thumbnail, as it showed Pencil and Match looking at the liar ball, and the arrow instead saying "SECRETS?"

Liy escaping the EXIT[]

Liy was going to be on TPOT

Liy was originally going to escape the EXIT with Loser and Spongy. While Loser and Spongy did escape in the final episode, Liy was planned to escape it as well and go to TPOT. However, this was scrapped for unknown reasons, possibly to continue the story with Liy and the door at the back of the EXIT.

"Whoever gets the most votes will participate in TPOT!"[]

In 16-26comp.fla, there is an alternate line where two says "Whoever gets the most votes will participate in TPOT!" instead of "Whoever gets the most votes will participate in The Power Of Two!"
