Gelatin's Steakhouse first appeared in "Get in the Van" when Leafy asked Bubble and Pin if they had any recommendations for where to eat. Bubble suggested it, but she added the fact that Gelatin was dead.

The steakhouse in the Grasslands later appeared in "What Do You Think of Roleplay?" Several contestants, such as Blocky, Pen, Eraser, Flower, Ruby, and Spongy, were seated outside of the restaurant on picnic benches. Foldy and Marker were seen standing outside the restaurant though hard to see as only a part of them were shown. The steakhouse was the location for Cake at Stake, and the members of iance sat on the benches. When the recommended characters were shown, Gelatin grabbed the steak recommended character Jordan, presumably for his steakhouse.

The Gelatin's Steakhouse in the Grasslands appeared as the location for Cake at Stake again in "Return of the Rocket Ship". Ice Cube can be seen walking past the steakhouse toward the benches, where the members of Team Ice Cube! sat. Black Hole can also be seen near the steakhouse when he explains that he just got Bomby a banana.

The same steakhouse then became the Cake at Stake location for the remaining 3 episodes of BFB before the split, excluding "Don't Dig Straight Down" and including "The Four is Lava" and "The Escape from Four", but then it got abandoned by its owner (Gelatin) in "The Escape from Four" when he stayed in BFB and left the Grasslands.

At the end of "Chapter Complete", it is shown that Gelatin has built a brand new steakhouse in the chain, in collaboration with Flower's fashion line. It is a steakhouse and a fashion store.

In "You can help BFDI win an Award!", the steakhouse in the Grasslands appeared (the landscape being that of BFB's landscape before the lava overflow). Tennis Ball said that he ate some food from there, despite there being a notice on the wall that said it was closed for 37 health code violations, including the one about maggots.

In "The Great Goikian Bake-Off", long after the restaurant in the Grasslands was abandoned in "The Escape from Four", Death P.A.C.T. Again goes into the steakhouse and uses the kitchen inside of it to cook a meal for Two, and end up leaving with a fish roll, wanting to revive the fish outside of the steakhouse. Also, Teardrop steals 100 Chocolate Balls to give to Two.

In BFDI Mini Delicious, a Gelatin's Steakhouse restaurant appears in some background shots, looking just like it did in BFB before the split (not the landscape from BFB, however)

In "Firey and Gelatin Steal a Van", Gelatin is seen trying to bring steaks to one of his steakhouse's, and due to how heavy the steaks were, he decides to borrow the FreeSmart Supervan after being persuaded to do so by Firey, who comes with him. After a long trip that takes days, a fight for the steering wheel, a ride down a deadly path, making it to the top of a mountain on the deadly path, chasing the steaks that hopped out of the van, and getting the steaks back after the steaks hit someone, they make it to the steakhouse Gelatin wanted to go to. It appears to be different from any other steakhouse owned by Gelatin we've seen thus far.

In "The Seven Wonders of Goiky" Pen says that if he had limitless power, he would want to do cool stunts, and imagines himself backflipping off the roof of the steakhouse. Eraser then says that he could do it without the power.

In "Meaty", the Gelatin's Steakhouse restaurant in the Plains appears to have changed its name to Gelatin's Shadeshouse, a sunglasses store owned by BBQ Sauce. This was due to the "Rancid Recession of 2013", when Gelatin pivoted from steaks to sunglasses, other employees that worked at the restaurant may had to look for other jobs or be put to death and be transformed into consumable eyewear, according to BBQ Sauce.

The Steakhouse was the place that the Beautiful Face Devotion Institute used as shop for selling ice cream in "Taste the Sweetness".

In "Outbreak At Stake, both the shade house and the steakhouse appear again. Just Not hide in the steakhouse for the episode. Later, The S! use the steaks from the steakhouse to cure the zombies. The steakhouse was destroyed when Bomby lit his fuse to take out Pillow.

In "Oneirophobe's Nightmare, A Melted Shrunken Snowball is fed with clean Vomit flavor meat by Winner on the top of steakhouse as a reveal flashback.

Appearance[]

The Gelatin's Steakhouse restaurant we saw in BFDIA was very realistic, drawn in an art style completely different from the rest of BFDIA. It is a black building with a neon outline with a gray roof and a neon sign that reads "Gelatin's Steakhouse," which is next to a glowing picture of Gelatin smiling. The smile was turned upside down when Bubble said that Gelatin was dead.

In "What Do You Think of Roleplay?", the presumably same steakhouse changed drastically. It was redesigned to be visually in tune with the other buildings and structures of Battle for BFDI. The front of the building retains the green awning and Gelatin decoration, though it loses its neon lighting (which may just be turned off due to the scene taking place in daylight) and other details. The steakhouse also now has sets of yellow picnic benches which are often used for Cake at Stake. The steakhouse itself is also seemingly in a different location, being in an open field rather than adjacent to a road and other buildings. However, it could be possible that this is another location in a chain of Gelatin's Steakhouses.

The steakhouse remained this way, even after the overflow of lava from "Don't Dig Straight Down" and "The Four is Lava", it appeared undamaged. It also appears just like normal in "You can help BFDI win an Award!" and in BFDI Mini Delicious.

This same restaurant in the Grasslands ends up getting abandoned in "The Escape from Four", due to Gelatin staying in BFB, leaving the Grasslands, and moving onto other chains.

There is a brand new steakhouse, most likely in the same "Gelatin's Steakhouse" chain in "Chapter Complete". It is combined with a fashion store and has 2 floors. The first floor being colored beige and featuring a green and white awning with a black sign saying "Gelatin and Flower’s Steakhouse + Fashion Store: Grand Opening!", and brown windows and doors. The second floor is pink with blue windows, and features a dining table.

In "You can help BFDI win an Award!", the steakhouse in the grasslands is in the same area & condition as it was before the lava overflow and before Gelatin abandoned it.

We see the old steakhouse from the Grasslands again in "The Great Goikian Bake-Off", and it appears very run down, due to it being very old and long abandoned.

In BFDI Mini Delicious, the steakhouse looks just like it does in BFB before the split and in, "You can help BFDI win an Award!", except it is in a different landscape, a landscape with grass of a color similar to Blue Green or Turquoise. There are also blue trees in the background.

In "Firey and Gelatin Steal a Van", the steakhouse appears much different than it did in BFB, suggesting that it's a steakhouse haven't seen before. with 2 small canopies, a grey roof with the text, "Gelatin's Steakhouse" and a silhouette of Gelatin on it, a window, a door, and a small trashcan. It is also in a different landscape from previous ones, a landscape with orange grass, trees with orange and red leaves, and a volcano in the back.

Gelatin's Shadeshouse[]

Gelatin's Shadeshouse is a variation of Gelatin's Steakhouse seen in "Meaty". Gelatin rebranded it to a shadeshouse after the rancid recession of 2013, where he pivoted from steaks to sunglasses. BBQ Sauce and Pineapple used to work there.

Appearance[]

The building has a green and white awning, hanging just below its logo. The logo is similar to that of Gelatin's Steakhouse, displaying red text with a brown backdrop reading "Gelatin's Shadeshouse". In the top right corner, a depiction of Gelatin wearing shades can be seen. To the side of the building is the power source. The building sports off-white walls with orange windows and salmon foundations. A chimney can be seen protruding through the roof.

Coverage[]

In "Meaty", Coiny enters the building in hopes to find glasses to make Yellow Face see yellow instead of purple and vice-versa, due to his racism and hatred of the colour purple. Coiny decides to try on the shades, only to have Barbecue Sauce interrupt him. Coiny begs them for something to eat, causing them to break into song, but they rhetorically ask if he sees a kitchen anywhere. Due to the "rancid recession of 2013", them and their friends were either forced to leave or were killed, which causes Coiny to immediately discard his hot sauce glasses. They hand Coiny shades and ring the bellhop, provoking Gelatin. Coiny purchases the shades with himself, so Gelatin shoves him inside of a cash register. Gelatin then leaves, locking Coiny in the cash register. Soon after, the logo is seen getting covered in paint by Ruby's reckless paint-shooting. Later, Yellow Face and Pin enter to search for Coiny. As they are looking for him, the Eiffel Tower launches the cash register into outer space, leaving Coiny locked in indefinitely.

Trivia[]

  • In BFB and TPOT, the shadeshouse seems to have rebranded back to being a steakhouse.
    • It is also possible that it is a different location or chain altogether, as the Grasslands are not the same as the Plains.

Trivia[]

  • As Gelatin's Steakhouse apparently ceases operations when Gelatin is dead, it can be assumed that he is the only one who works there or he does something that is vital to the functioning of all steakhouses.
    • However, the restaurant could also be shut down in memory of his death.
  • There is a design for what appears to be a dumpster in the BFB design. This may be the dumpster that Four was referring to as where he got the fortunes in "Fortunate Ben".
  • In "The Great Goikian Bake-Off", Black Hole says that the restaurant in the Grasslands was slightly abandoned due to Gelatin moving onto new chains. Unless Gelatin actually did make new chains, this seems to be incorrect, and it also seems that Black Hole meant to say that he moved onto new restaurants in the same chain.
  • Gelatin's Steakhouse is based on a restaurant that the Huang Twins' father worked at when they were teenagers. [citation needed]

References in other videos[]

  • In Cary's "Cary teaches you how to time travel" video, Gelatin's Steakhouse appears to be the restaurant mentioned near the beginning.
  • In "Hello Woody! (Now available to order)", a restaurant named "Gelatin's Bakehouse" is visited for test #2.
