During at the time of the year, the twins went to Hawaii, when they got back they started to think of making their comic strip to a flash animated series. They cancelled Total Firey Island and quickly went on production of Battle for Dream Island.

The creation of BFDI (2010–2013)[]

On January 1, 2010, Michael and Cary uploaded the first episode of Battle for Dream Island. Over time, their viewer count started growing. At one point, their animation called "Scale of the Universe" even got viral on Newgrounds and ABC News. By 2012, Season 1 had ended. In episode 24, they said that BFDI would be cancelled, but both twins decided to make a season 2 if they had more than 1,000 total votes.

The second season, called Battle for Dream Island Again, was released on YouTube on June 29, 2012. Each episode received thousands of votes. By 2013, Michael announced that they needed to take a break from BFDI to focus more on school. The series was suspended after the delay of BFDIA 6.

On March 6, 2014, jacknjellify's AdSense account was suspended for an unknown reason. They sent YouTube two appeals; however they were both rejected. Since then, they have gained over 115 million views.

On June 15, 2016, jacknjellify revealed on Twitter that their AdSense account has been restored,[3] thus meaning that they can once again receive income from their videos, further guaranteeing that BFDIA 6 will be released. Also, thanks to this, the show will hopefully be in its full production again, if not just a bit slower. jacknjellify also created a slideshow[4] for their thoughts about what caused the account's block in the first place.

A few hours later, jacknjellify, once again confirmed that their AdSense account is unbanned through a post on their Facebook account,[5] also including the said slideshow's link for the Facebook users.

The comeback of BFDI (2016–2020)[]

The season only had one episode since, IDFB got delayed two times, when Michael and Cary had to focus on college and when they said they have to work on other projects. Also in 2016, they won Wikia's Food Award.

During 2017, they decided to make a new season with a whole new cast and assets to make it smoother. The new season was called Battle for BFDI (BFB), which had 64 contestants and 2 hosts. It started growing the viewers, subscribers and algorithm that even the channel got affiliated and partially produced by Channel Frederator. The first era of that season had 16 episodes due to Two splitting the show and having 40 of their contestants. The second era of the show had 14 episodes and 15 contestants (including Profily).

BFB's finale was announced on March 2021, but it was delayed to April 9, 2021. In the same month, they reached 1,000,000 subscribers. Michael and Cary said that they would be taking a break of BFDI episodes and focus and shorts and parts of their lives. On January 22, 2022, they won the Cartoon Crave Awards. jacknjellify had its own office for the summer of 2023 until September 30, 2023 at Water Garden in Santa Monica, California.[6][7] Ten years after Battle for Dream Island Again was widely thought to be cancelled, jacknjellify uploaded BFDIA 6 on September 1, 2023, titled "Well Rested", a decade after BFDIA 5e was uploaded. "Well Rested", "The Seven Wonders of Goiky", and "Intruder Alert" were developed in the jacknjellify office.

King of the Web[]

jacknjellify once ran for King of the Web. Their goal was 12,500 votes and if it was reached, BFDI would be weekly instead of monthly. They said you could vote 10 times per day. Blocky was in the cameo and at the end, you could vote for one of these reasons:

  • A: Like BFDI
  • B: Like clean water
  • C: Like clicking on pink buttons.

The goal was never reached, so BFDI never became weekly.

  • During the credits of "Return of the Hang Glider", a message was put at the end that said, "Subscribe to our new channels," which listed the personal channels of Michael Huang (Fernozzle), Cary Huang (Carykh), and Andrew Wang (Losmmorpg), meaning that Andrew was once noted as a member of jacknjellify.
  • Michael said in a livestream that the channel name was based on a series they made in kindergarten.
    • It's about a boy named Jack (from the video "I Can Make A Difference!") and his little brother named Jellify (who is not in that video). However, it's actually pronounced /ˈdʒɛləˌfaɪ/, but they just had no idea. But this might be a character made from their elementary comics.
