— Four, "Last One Standing" and "Alone"
|
Four (4) is an Algebralien and the main host of the fourth season of the Battle for Dream Island series, Battle for BFB. While he is first officially introduced, alongside X as the co-host, (within the Battle for Dream Island series) in Battle for BFB as the main host of the show, never appearing in any BFDI season prior to this, he does make his first appearance, alongside X, in the 2008 educational video "X Finds Out His Value". Four also doesn’t tolerate criticism in early BFB, known to act with violence as shown in "Four Goes Too Far".
Especially seen in early BFB, Four exhibits very surreal mannerisms, including being able to mutilate, revive, screech (causing either the stunning or death of the victim), shoot energy beams from his hands (causing the paralyzing and painful shock of the victim) or suck other characters into his body (sending them to the EXIT).
In "B.F.B. = Back From Beginning", Four merged into the Desert. He reformed to his original state in "Chapter Complete."
Four makes a cameo on both TV and in the stinger in "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?". He reappears and returns in "The Great Goikian Bake-Off" as a chef with X.
As of "Last One Standing", Four is sapped of their powers due to Pencil absorbing them from him. In "Alone", Four was trapped by an overpowered One in the same Moon she broke out of, who kicked it far away into space, as a means of revenge for doing the same thing to her in the past.

Appearance[]
Four, as his name suggests, appears to be a blue Arabic numeral four (4), whose design is based on the version of "4" with an open top, most likely taken from the original Minesweeper. He is drawn simplistically and have limbs that are lighter colored. Like every algebralien, Four has four fingers.
Whenever disgusted, he can have a more teal colored body.

Personality[]
2008-2017 (incl. X Finds Out His Value)[]
Four seems to be a fun-loving and friendly character, as he helps X discover his value. He also appears to be intelligent, since he is good at math. Four is also thoughtful, as after Three's murder by One, he publicly recognizes the dangers he feels One poses to society, and proceeds to organize & steward the ostracism of One from the number playground, including her exile inside the Moon that lasted from 2009 to 2023.
However, Four's personality may also have had a menacing and/or unhinged side during this time period, as when the other algebraliens realize he has a large amount of power, they make him give most of power to Two as they feel Two is highly unlikely to do anything evil with his power. However, Four still has enough power to cause significant damage, as when he and X get their hosting licenses in spring 2017, Four is able to start and self-fund an entire season of BFDI with the help of X, but due to his mistreatment of his contestants (at the beginning of which there are 64), and Two advertises a new season, all but 14 leave his side.
Battle for BFDI[]
When Four came to Earth after shrinking Black Hole back to his normal size, he at first appears as a strange number with little known about him, partly because he is crudely drawn. He comes off as erratic and somewhat reckless, as Four demonstrates his powers, though sometimes at the cost of killing other contestants, like deforming Pin and screeching at Donut, Taco, and even X. He casually refuses to recover some contestants he killed when Coiny asks him, but later does so with a simple hand, implying he might have a somewhat kinder side.
During his time as a host, Four was shown to want a sense of dominance in the show, like in "Fortunate Ben," and gets furious if talked back to or has tasks done for him. When provoked, Four would show no mercy and would even do things such as dissemble close friends out of anger, even lacking remorse in the process. In "Four Goes Too Far", Four mistook Nickel's response to calling David and Roboty "the only two non-objects on the team" criticism (which they could not tolerate very well). Four threatens to zap Nickel, with A Better Name Than That's plan being the only thing stopping the attack.
In "Enter the Exit", Four seems to be a lot calmer, friendlier, and humbler, most likely because the contestants recovered him. He was noticeably less violent than before. After his return, he didn't screech at anyone, adding onto how friendly he became, but still will not hesitate to zap those who bother him.
"The Escape from Four" shows Four's personality in more depth as well as his possible motivations: He seems to be childish and, according to Michael, showing his autistic side. Four acts like a control freak because he wants everyone to stay with him forever, explaining his narcissism and cruelty when hosting the show. Four throws tantrums when things don't go his way and strongly dislikes being abandoned (possibly due to him losing his playthings) to the point where he cries and refuses to let X console him since he thinks that X will abandon him too.
Battle for BFB[]
In the aftermath of the split, Four appears to act nicer towards the contestants. After Two took nearly all of the contestants, Taco tells Four that they lost over half of the cast. Instead of being angry or sad, Four eventually copes with it and makes light of the situation by saying BFB has "advanced" to its final 14 contestants.
In "Uprooting Everything", when it comes to Purple Face asking if he could be a co-host, Four immediately declines. Four was down about the last four contestants complimenting X's position and saying he was a "good host" but not reciprocating the same to Four.
Finally, in "Chapter Complete," Four shows his insecure side. His suppressed thoughts are represented as imaginary versions of the EXITors, who initially seem to support him. Later, when they overhear Profily asking Four to wake up, they tell Four that nobody in the real world likes him, and they are all the friends he needs. After Four realizes that he made them up, the Imaginary EXITors act unfriendly towards him, saying the contestants won't care if he leaves them forever. Four attacks Imaginary 8-Ball for saying this, causing the other Imaginary EXITors to point out how rude Four is. These rude things include killing people for fun, torturing the EXITors with eternal math and getting angry at them if they don't do it, guilt-tripping, and being overpossessive. Four then deletes them from existence and runs away. When the contestants confront Four on the sun, Gelatin scolds Four for expecting them to like him even when he constantly treats them badly, especially after they stayed with him after the events of "The Escape from Four". Hearing this, Four finally accepts that he was wrong and apologizes to Gelatin. After this, he is on good terms with the Battle for BFB contestants, Purple Face, and the Announcer.
However, this does not completely change Four's heart after the events of the fourth season. As of today, he still holds some resentment towards certain individuals, including Two (formerly), the TPOT contestants, the EXITors, and One. Although, it is implied that Four regrets putting the contestants in the EXIT in "Chapter Complete," which is shown when Four listens to Two's request to let them go in "Out Of The Blue".
TPOT[]
In "The Great Goikian Bake-Off," Four reverts to his chaotic behavior, likely due to lingering anger at the old contestants or his commitment to guarding the hotel's food. Additionally, in the stinger for "The Seven Wonders of Goiky," Four punishes Roboty for escaping the EXIT, showcasing his aggressive and controlling nature towards those who defy his rules. His rage intensifies when Clock, his "friend," is trapped in the elimination space by Two in "Oneirophobe's Nightmare" prompting a destructive rampage alongside X.
However, in "Out Of The Blue," Four's demeanor shifts slightly. While he still tries to prevent the EXITors from escaping, he becomes somewhat more amiable when they assist in the hotel's kitchen, suggesting a possible softening in his approach, at least when it involves cooperation and help.
When Four takes over Two’s role as a host during their depression in "The Power of Four," he starts to show more of his old personality from early BFB—though less bizarre than before. Even with the changes seen by "Chapter Complete," Four still has no problem harming or even killing contestants without remorse, especially when they break the rules. This includes splitting Pillow in half with his tongue after she ate one of the cakes. One of the clearest examples of his cruelty shows when he smiles maniacally after zapping Yellow Face into ashes. The grin, along with Yellow Face’s ashes on him, makes it clear how dangerous and downright frightening he can be.
By the time of "Last One Standing," Four's behavior is completely different, now understanding that One has escaped the Moon that he used to imprison her and poses an immense threat to the entire world. He focuses on helping the contestants, rather than deliberately hurting them, to stop her progress. He fights alongside Liy against Pencil to try and get the latter to stop being reckless with Two's power he gave her, but faced his past as well as getting his powers taken from him, much to his horror. In his last moments with Pencil before being taken by One, he shows a brief moment of self-awareness of all the damage he has caused to his past contestants, and even screams for X for help just before getting taken.
Alone-TPOT 20[]
In the past- 16 years prior to TPOT’s events- Four has been shown to have relatively the same personality, but a few stark differences show in his behavior. In his first depictions, Four has been shown to be quite unforgiving if given a reason to hold a grudge, such as when One killed Three. Even after she brought her back (albeit poorly), Four was not willing to give One a second chance and locked her away with no regard for her feelings. This ruthless behavior when dealing with people deemed a threat by him is driven by his protectiveness for X and possibly the other Algebraliens.
Over time, he eventually grew guilty about leaving One locked away for sixteen years; this is shown when, after being trapped inside the moon by One, Four becomes visibly saddened, with clear tears in his eyes.
Powers and abilities[]
- Omnipotence (formerly): Thanks to the source of power from the Yoylite, Four was shown to possess limitless power. Four can control fundamental forces such as space, time, matter, and energy. Fours full power is similar and rivaling that of Two, though with a blue aura compared to Two’s green.
- In Last One Standing, Pencil stole Four’s power — along with a portion of Two’s — rendering Four an ordinary, depowered algebralien, even though his body remains naturally invulnerable to heavy objects.
- Ultimate-level reality-warping: Four can manipulate most, if not all, aspects of existence, allowing them to do virtually anything.
- Screechy: Four can emit a screechy that stuns any targeted contestant. When expressing affection or excitement, this ability also produces hearts that can fling others away, as demonstrated with Eraser.
Four screeching at X.
- Electricity Generation: Four can fire beams from their hands, electrocuting targets and reducing their health. They may need to charge up for more powerful beams, but can also shoot instantly. The known victims include Gelatin, Stapy, Snowball (possibly), Grassy (possibly), Tennis Ball, Two (possibly), Bracelety, Pen, and Pencil.
- Creation: Four can create items such as cakes, buttons, pillars, Paper Planes, Buzzer Boxes, soup, and jawbreakers from thin air.
- Paint firing: In "Four Goes Too Far", Four shoots orange paint to turn Beep orange. In "The Power of Four", this ability is used to tag contestants with blue paint. Physical contact isn’t required for it to work.
- Gravity manipulation: When Donut was infused with the "factor of Four", he could toggle gravity’s effects selectively — for example, affecting only the Moon.
- Four also compressed the massive Black Hole into a smaller, less gravitationally intense form so he could compete.
- Shape-shifting: In "What Do You Think of Roleplay?", both Four and X are shown to alter their appearances and those of others.
- Size manipulation: In several episodes (e.g., "Return of the Rocket Ship", "Take the Tower", "The Tweested Temple"), Four grows to immense sizes, sometimes large enough to hold Black Hole (planet-sized) in their hand. They can also shrink, as seen in The Seven Wonders of Goiky and Outbreak At Stake.
- Brain manipulation: In "What Do You Think of Roleplay?", Four swaps contestants’ personalities and bodies, which then shape-shift back into their original appearances.
- Perspective violation: Four can defy 2D visual logic, appearing in front of and behind objects simultaneously.
- Self-voice manipulation: Four can amplify their voice to cosmic levels.
- Clouds manipulation: Four creates timers made of clouds to visually represent time limits during challenges. Donut also used this via the "factor of Four".
- Terraforming: In "Take the Tower", Four raises hills beneath the teams’ towers with a wave of his hand.
- Physical video conversion: In "Chapter Complete", Four transforms the BFDI and BFDIA into a literal object: a deep-fried box.
- Warping: In "Chapter Complete", touching a cactus representation of Four causes Profily to warp, ascend, and pop.
- Mutilation: Four can abstractly deform contestants, effectively killing them, accompanied by a harp sound.
- Inception/Astral projection: Four can enter his own dimension to communicate with "EXITors", and still interact externally — suggesting inner space is larger or functions non-linearly.
- Teleportation: Four can teleport when the number "4" is invoked and can teleport others with a snap. They also send contestants to the elimination space.
- Thought manipulation: In "The Four is Lava", Four sends happy thoughts to safe contestants during Cake at Stake. It’s unclear if other thoughts can be created.
- Possession: Four can possess objects like trees, buildings, and even the sun, which then turn blue.
- Assimilation: In "B.F.B. = Back From Beginning", Four merges with the Desert, reshaping it to resemble himself.
- Air manipulation: In "A Taste of Space", Four provides air in space.
- Black hole immunity: Four can touch and move Black Hole without harm — though he was later sucked in and died in "If Among Us Was a BFDI Challenge".
- Memory reading: In "Who Stole Donut's Diary?", Four reads X’s mind using a memory beam to solve the diary mystery.
- Mind reading: In "Oneirophobe's Nightmare", Four hears Ice Cube’s voice in Winner’s dream.
- Telekinesis: Four, like X, can levitate objects with a snap, shown in "The Game Has Changed".
- Nigh-omnipresence: Four can exist in multiple places at once, such as being inside the Eternal Algebra Class Withfour while partially present outside.
- Malleability: Four’s body can stretch, contract, and morph. In "Oneirophobe's Nightmare", his hand emerges from his mouth.
- Recovery: Four replaces Recovery Centers by reviving contestants with his hand, and even teaches X the skill. He can also recover others in unconventional ways, such as through jawbreakers.
- Elimination: Four absorbs contestants for elimination, replacing previous devices like the Tiny Loser Chamber. He sends them to the EXIT, an alternate realm.
- Superhuman speed: Four travels to the Sun in 12 seconds (≈45 billion km/h) in "Chapter Complete".
- He is approximately 42× faster than light.
- Superhuman strength: Via the "factor of Four", Donut once pushed the Earth using only his feet. Four also crushed the FreeSmart Supervan barehanded.
- Flight: Four can fly, such as when eliminating Roboty in "Enter the Exit".
- Regeneration: In "Enter the Exit", Four reconstitutes himself from a liquid state.
- Fire resistance (external): Four withstands lava and can stand on the Sun. However, he suffers when fire touches him internally (as in "The Escape from Four" and "Out Of The Blue").
- Superhuman intelligence: Four fluently understands multiple obscure languages, including Insulavoric, Morse code, and non-verbal communication from characters like Teardrop.
- Superhuman hearing: Four can hear from extreme distances, including as far as the Sun.
- Despawning: Four can remove contestants from existence by despawning them, indicated by a white flash or laser. In "B.F.B. = Back From Beginning", X uses a white laser eye beam to despawn Teardrop.
- Music Generation: According to the BFB theme title, Four can generate music using his hand.
- Dream Manipulation: Four can insert characters into others’ dreams, similar to Two’s method.
- Autotomy: Four can remove his own eyes or limbs painlessly, as shown in "What's Up Bell's String?" and "Seasonal Shift".
- Color Manipulation: Four changes Pin’s color in "The Power of Four", and turns his own hand green to activate the elimination zone.
- Laser Eyes: In "Chapter Complete", Four uses laser vision inside his mind to destroy 8-Ball.
- Cooking: Four is an exceptionally talented cook, even impressing Two.
- Painting: In "Out of The Blue", Four is seen painting a version of "The Son of Man".
- Power Transfer: In "Last One Standing", Four absorbs and distributes Two’s powers to help stop a catastrophic event.
- Sensing Death: In “The Power of Four”, when Price Tag is killed by Pillow, Four appears and says, “What’s going on here? Someone perished! I can sense it!”
- Superhuman vehicular excellence: Four has a Class-B driver's license in good standing, and managed to drive his bus for three weeks (504 hours) straight through the desert without sleeping, stopping, crashing, or even refueling the bus, and barely flinched when he hit Purple Face, turning on the wipers to get him off the windshield.
Weaknesses[]
- Simplification: Four becomes vulnerable if multiplied by 0, or anything resembling zero (e.g., Donut’s insides). Contact with 0 liquefies Four, transferring most powers to the 0 until removed.
- Limited stamina/Exhaustion: Four failed to eliminate and suck up Spongy to the EXIT, due to his massive size in "The Escape from Four".
- Burn intolerance: Internal fire causes pain and psychedelic effects, curable only by feeling better (often via a Juice Box).
- Yoyle metal: Yoyle Metal resists Four’s zappies. Snowball was unharmed by beams while yoylefied in "The Great Goikian Bake-Off".
- Slight stupidity: In BFB 23 ("Fashion For Your Face!"), Four didn’t realize the courtroom jail cell was made of cardboard tubes painted to look like metal.
- Poor aim: In "The Great Goikian Bake-Off", Four repeatedly missed his target, leading to mishaps (like zapping a sandwich).
- Anger issues: Frequently lashes out in Battle for BFB, resulting in unnecessary zaps, mutilations, and eliminations.
- Communication difficulties: Early in Battle for BFB, Four struggled to interact with contestants and misunderstood concepts like "recovery."
- Internal pain intolerance: Fire inside Four causes severe distress, unlike external fire. Shown in "The Escape from Four", and treated with a Juice Box.

Trivia[]
- Four's favorite holiday is Halloween, as stated in "The Game Has Changed".
- During the production of "Getting Teardrop to Talk", he was originally planned to be a giant spider.[8]
- He has the ability to translate Woody's speech, as shown in "Who Stole Donut's Diary?" and "The Game Has Changed".
- He appears in the HTwins.net game Tidepool, as a level 23 creature in the "Classic" character set.
- Four, Two & X, are the only hosts in BFDI that are genderless.
- Cary described Four as a "weird alien creature who doesn't know how to communicate" in his reaction video. If he is an alien, this could explain his strange powers, general behavioral quirks, different eye and limb assets, and his screeching.
- Another implication that he is an alien was shown in "Enter the Exit", in which he says "We don't have that (gender) where I'm from", indicating that he's from another planet or universe.
- Four seems to be nigh-omnipotent or seems to have near godlike powers. However, being nigh-omnipotent doesn't grant him the ability to give good solutions to the problems which he is faced with all of the time.
- In the first three episodes, Four starts the intro by raising his right arm in a fist, then the contestants assume the pose when the intro starts.
- Four can talk with his eyes, as shown in "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset".
- Four seems to hate the closed-form of four. (4)
- This is implied in "Today's Very Special Episode" when he, X, and the recommended characters deem Death P.A.C.T.'s makeover to be the worst one, while he ranks
's as the second-best makeover.
- This is implied in "Today's Very Special Episode" when he, X, and the recommended characters deem Death P.A.C.T.'s makeover to be the worst one, while he ranks
- If Four were to be multiplied by zero, or anything that resembles a zero (like Donut), he would teleport into the zero he was multiplied by.
- This was foreshadowed after Donut was multiplied by Four, he states that he had obtained the "factor of Four" within him, granting him some of the powers Four has. Also, when Four was recovered by Pin and Firey, they had to extract Four from the inside of Donut using a syringe before squeezing him into a four shape.
- When Four screeched at Tree in "Fortunate Ben", the screech was the original audio clip in reverse.
- Despite being absent in "The Liar Ball You Don't Want", "Questions Answered", and "This Episode Is About Basketball" until his recovery, Four's likeness still makes indirect appearances in each episode. Respectively, in a cameo in a made up scenario from Blocky, his screeching that was recorded by Donut, and in a flashback.
- Four tends to misname A Better Name Than That as "Another Name Than That", as heard in "Today's Very Special Episode", "Get to the Top in 500 Steps", and "What Do You Think of Roleplay?". This may be a reference to Another Name and how Golf Ball accidentally named both teams.
- In “Return of the Rocket Ship”, there is a scene where Four is shown speaking in sign language. This implies that Four knows sign language.
- Fittingly, Four's voice is four semitones higher than the original voice clip of their voice.
- On TikTok, jacknjellify said that Four screeches when experiencing intense emotion.
- In "BFDIA 1 Re-Animated By 95 People! - (Fan-Made)", Dora's favorite screen of the number four was re-stylized to look like Four.
- "The Hidden Contestant" shows that Four can recover other dead Algebraliens from his hand.
- In "Uprooting Everything", Four says that he inherited BFDI, but in "SOS (Save Our Show)", this appears to be false, as Announcer had stated that Four had "stolen [his] show", implying that Four did not have permission from Announcer to start a new season.
- In "Chapter Complete", when the BFB completed "recording" the footage of this season, it deep fries and becomes an image, like the BFDI. It had an image of Four's infobox from this page on the Battle for Dream Island Wiki.
- During the time in their mind in "Chapter Complete", Four reveals that they're aware that:
- Bracelety loves Ice Cube.
- Pencil could care less for Ice Cube.
- 8-Ball doesn't have a favorite number and often brings this up unprompted.
- His treatment towards the contestants is cruel, and may have played a part in why they don't like them.
- They can be overpossessive.
- In "Chapter Complete", when Clock asks Two if they're more powerful than Four, and to do something about Four being the sun, Two replies with "Don't know where you heard that, but anyways I'd rather stay out of this.". This implies that Four is more powerful than Two, or they are on the same power level.
- Four might secretly hate Five possibly because they are a number greater than him.
- Four's personality may be a reference to how the number four is considered to be synonymous with death in Chinese and East Asian culture.
- Four's screeching sound has been officially transcribed on the Jacknjellify TikTok account to be "EEEYYEARGGG".[9]
- Four's color and shape are similar to that of the character of the same name from the 2006 British children's TV series Numberjacks. It’s unknown whether if this is intentional or not.
- Four is the first algebralien other than Two to start the intro of Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two.
- Four is one of the three characters who have a location associated with their body, the others are Evil Leafy, and Tree.
- In Four's case, he has a pocket dimension inside of him which include EXIT and The Fourest.
- He is also the only non-plant character who has a location associated with their body.
- Four is one of the algebraliens that can turn their teeth into fangs, along with Six, X, and Nine.
- Four is the third character to be seen driving a vehicle. The others are Pencil, Ruby, and Fanny.
- They are the only one who has hosted a series.
- They are the only one who hasn't driven the Freesmart Supervan.
- Four is Michael Huang's favorite character, as stated in "What the "BFDI & II Tour" in NYC Was Like".
- Cary has also stated he is Four's biggest fan.
- Four is the first non-temporary host to have a full set of limbs.
- Four is on the autism spectrum, as confirmed by Cary in the BFDI X Inanimate Insanity 2025 Tour.[10]

This meant at that moment Four was also last seen canonically and chronologically. However, a later flashback is shown of the episode's "Present" occuring on October 17th, where the episode does not show Four in his current state. Four is destined to be stuck inside the moon for 14 years, or likely for the rest of his life.
