"Gardening Zero" is the 4th episode of Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two and the 65th (by release date) or 75th (by in-universe order) episode of the overall series. It was released on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

Plot[]
Before the intro[]
Pillow and Cake are seen at the beginning of the episode playing Yoyle Chess on top of Are You Okay's rollercoaster. Nickel then asks about what's going on. Pillow responds saying that she was teaching Cake how to play Yoyle Chess, with Cake also saying that Yoyle Chess is really fun. Cake says that Nickel can play Yoyle Chess with him next, but Book says that she thought she was going to go next. Nickel then questions why they are on top on the rollercoaster. The train of the rollercoaster then begins moving, with Yellow Face on it. Pillow dodges the rollercoaster by jumping, taking Book and Cake along with them. Nickel, however, is knocked out from the rollercoaster. He then lands near Two, making them exclaim that they are "riiiccchh!" because they're able to afford a gumball from a gumball machine.
After the intro[]
Two is chewing on the gum they bought from the gumball machine (where Nickel was stuck in). They explain that Team8s and The S! are both up for elimination, and Fries tells them to "spit out that gum and be a respectable host". Two then blows a bubble and says that it won't be a problem anymore. Bottle then requests that the spot to do Cake at Stake would be at her team's stage, since they built it. Two agrees to this and cuts a ribbon, meaning that it's the new Cake at Stake spot. Just when Bottle almost gets The S! onto the stage, Two tells Bottle that it's a terrible idea, and that they mustn't do it. This causes Bottle to get upset and cry. Two comforts and explains to her that Team8s must have their Cake at Stake first because The S! at least built something, while Team8s' building was destroyed. Two comes up to Gramophone so they can play the new Cake at Stake song.
Cake at Stake[]
The song playing is titled "Hey Two!". The song was made by Antony Kos, and it was animated by Ivan Maslov. Barf Bag complements the new song, saying that she loves it very much, with Two thanking her and announcing that the prize this time will be some burritos (which Two says are "smart, creative, not overly dramatic, they'll listen to your problems, and they love writing!"). Gaty is optimistic, but Pin questions why, since one of them is about to be exterminated, and Donut tells her that what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. And that he's trying to talk right before Two starts speaking, as it statistically increases his chances to be safe first. This fails, as Pin starts to speak but is cut off by Two stating she is first one safe, much to Donut's anger. Coiny, Barf Bag, Gaty and Needle are declared safe. Donut and Saw are in the bottom two and both fear being eliminated. Two reveals that Saw is the eliminated one, falling just a few votes behind Donut. Saw says that she will always treasure having built the restaurant alongside them, and asks Two how many votes she was short of Donut, asking if it was "perhaps... eight?", Two tells her it was exactly eight, a strange coincidence.
The S! is invited onto the stage, Yellow Face is excited to be on the stage intended for him, and since he talked right before the elimination, he is safe. Winner, Rocky, Clock, and Bottle are also declared safe, with a burrito falling into Bottle, her exclaiming that soggy burritos are her favorite concoction. Cloudy and Ice Cube are also afraid of being in the bottom two, Cloudy saying that the water contestants have it difficult these days, because the two of them are among the last two and are made of water, to which Fries assumes it's because they evaporate too easily, demanding that they just stop doing so. Two complains that Fries is made with obscene amounts of oil, so he's not much better, and after a bit of suspense, Two reveals that Cloudy is eliminated. He thanks his team for letting him collect so many memories together, saying goodbye happily. Two waves their hand in front of Saw and Cloudy and they disappear.
Challenge[]
To mourn Saw's elimination, Team8s go to the Funny Plant Pin and Saw smelled together. Gaty informs the team that the Funny Plant species has three lives. Immediately, Cake, knocked out by the car offscreen, flies into Barf Bag, and her barf spills onto the plant, making it lose one life. Then, the bubble from Two's gum pops on the plant, and it loses another life. Bottle then trips on Gaty, spilling out her concoction onto the plant, killing it. Bottle is sad her concoction spilled and Pin is sad the last memory of Saw was destroyed. Fanny is angered, as that was the last Funny Plant in Goiky. Two comforts her, stating there were seven remaining Funny Plants, each scattered across seven different biomes, all down to their last life.
Two then makes the challenge to protect a Funny Plant in a specific biome. They give out a hat with paper slips so that each team can choose their biome. Marker pulls out Jungle for Death P.A.C.T. Again's biome, Snowball cheats and pulls Snowy Tundra for The Strongest Team on Earth.'s biome and Eggy scolds him, Winner pulls Outer Space for The S!, Coiny pulls Yoyleland for Team8s, Book pulls The Desert for Just Not, Are You Okay pulls Davidland, and Tear Drop pulls "The Real World", making Teardrop horrified at it.
Two gives all contestants bracelets Golf Ball built, capable of transporting them to their biomes. Tennis Ball compliments her for her new technology. Barf Bag asks Two how the bracelet would take them to their location and Two tells her to put it on. She puts it on and is transported to Yoyleland, where she is excited to be at. She however starts freaking out when she notices that none of her teammates are with her, The bracelet falls off of her arm and she is transported back. Golf Ball tells Barf Bag to just take off the bracelet of she wants to leave. Basketball jokingly asks Golf Ball if she wants to join her "shape hater club" and in response she quickly puts on her bracelet and leaves.
Two tells the contestants to put on their bracelets to go to their biomes and protect their Funny Plants, with the first two teams to lose theirs being up for elimination. Tree compliments them for making a challenge for protecting plant life, with Grassy agreeing. Robot Flower tries to be appreciative too, but Tree tells her that he didn't know if she could be considered a plant.
Two puts a bracelet on Tree's torso and he's immediately transported to the Jungle. Soon after, his team arrives. While Death P.A.C.T Again is in the jungle, a cherry introduces itself as "Cherry Jr The Orphan" suddenly appears, surprising Remote. Lightning goes ahead to pat the Funny Plant, calling it "cute" before accidentally zapping the plant and Cherry Jr., causing his team to neglect him by taking off his bracelet since he failed to prevent death.
The Strongest Team on Earth. appears in the Snowy Tundra with Snowball enjoying it only because he's made out of snow, while Eggy just distastes the place since it's cold, but they are forced to protect their Funny Plant in the cold because of Snowball's ego. Basketball asks for an idea on how to warm up the Funny Plant, and Bell has a idea to ring her bell to make the Funny Plant warmer, since sound waves generate heat. This solution works great as the plant then begins to grow and warm up.
Back at the Desert, Pillow and Cake are playing Yoyle Chess again. While Cake was playing, Book corrects Cake about the name not being a truck piece, but rather called a Freesmart Supervan. Nickel then reminds his team that they have a Funny Plant to protect while they were playing. Pillow mentions that playing is fun, but babysitting a plant is not, but Book tells her that Nickel is right. Naily checks the plant and says it's getting really dry, and Price Tag has an idea, saying they should split up to fetch water across the desert, to which everyone agrees. Before leaving, Pillow swaps Cake's pieces on the Yoyle Chess game.
Back with Are You Okay, Eraser asks Tennis Ball where Golf Ball went, with him responding that she already transported to Davidland. Puffball was eager to come along, but Tennis Ball told her that she couldn't participate in the challenge due to the events of last episode. As her team equips their bracelets and leave, Lightning comes in to confess to Puffball about his( Lightning's) exclusion, while going to Ice Cube, another neglected member of her team because she could be in risk of evaporating in space after a certain amount of time, leaving her vengeful.
Meanwhile, when Bell is almost done warming up the Funny Plant to full health, her bracelet falls off and she is teleported back home. Robot Flower suggests using Touch-Tone Telephone to bring her back, but Eggy responds, saying that Bell is not the type of gal to be "wired up all the time". While the Funny Plant starts to die out, they start to think about Plan B, having Snowball to light Grassy on fire with a matchstick, leaving Grassy be worried and frightened.
The S! is seen to be floating in Space in their Space Pods, having a Gamma Ray blast them off, but barely any effect happens since the Space-Pods are pretty protective, but not enough to make sure Clock and Rocky doesn't become nauseous. Then Rocky vomits and he's drowning. Winner mentions that they can see Yoyleland from there and wonders what's going on down there. Team8s arrives at Yoyleland, having Barf Bag excited enough to grab a Yoyleberry, but not to eat it and rather save it as a souvenir. But sadly, according to Gaty, the only collector isn't present anymore, so they can't have the chance to get it from her. They check out the Funny Plant as it seems to grow thanks to the fertile soil, leaving Donut amazed as it "grows in real-time". Coiny is impressed with Pin's knowledge about Plants, as she's been reading Yoyle Biology.
We can then see Teardrop in The Real World, as she drips down on a window, taking care of her plant that seems to be growing, presumably due to the rain. Are You Okay appears in Davidland, with Golf Ball, Fries, and Tennis Ball remembering the times they have been there. Pen is spooked since it's his first time travelling there, questioning the size of the Davidians as the David they have been interacting with was a smaller version; Golf Ball then explains to Pen that most Davids are that size and the David they saw way back then was simply a smaller variant of the species.
Tennis Ball finds the Funny Plant sitting next to one of the Davids, with Golf Ball having TV calculate the reverberation units of the Davids saying, "Aw Seriously?". Fries seems to be sarcastically fearful, but is being serious if that's a big deal, which Golf Ball answers it is. She explains that if they provoke the Davids, they will say "Aw, seriously?" in an extremely loud volume compared to when they were in the sky, making the plant break and destroy everyone's eardrums. Golf Ball and Tennis Ball goes to hold the lips of Pen, Eraser, and Fries since they were about to say something negative about the Davids. The David was turning around, until they blinked, having Golf Ball relieved.
Naily asks Bomby if he's fine with dying just for the challenge, in which she kills him when he said yes by throwing him onto the Cactus. And gets water from it as they have water inside of them. Naily uses the Water for the Funny Plant, with Price Tag and Nickel using two fancy Water Bottles they found from some Abandoned Vans. Book wasn't able to find any water, but uses herself as a poem to make the plant feel good about themselves, making them grow some more. Meanwhile, Cake goes to find some water, mistakenly some from an abandoned Yellow Face Skeleton from "The Long-lost Yoyle City". The skeleton is cursed, as Book, Naily, and Nickel didn't remind him about it.
Back in Goiky, Lightning requests if him, Puffball, Ice Cube, and Bell could do something, like charades. Puffball still wanted to contribute to her team, so she asks if Lightning still had his bracelet, convincing him to put it back on. Although Lightning still had his bracelet, he is reluctant to put it one as he didn't want to over-assist and felt that his team intentionally wanted him to stay back home. Puffball takes that chance to try and steal Lightning's bracelet so that she could go to the jungle herself and "shake things up". Every time Puffball attempts to grab the bracelet, Lightning zaps her in defense. Two notices the fight in amusement. Puffball comes up a better motive by grabbing Bell onto the rollercoaster.
As the rollercoaster moves rapidly, Bell's string cannot go any further, causing Puffball to slingshot towards Lightning, in which she hits him and steals the bracelet. Then she is transported to the Jungle in an effort to sabotage Death P.A.C.T. Again on behalf of her team. Tree then presents the walls they built around the Funny Plant as its "castle", showing that no dangers can enter it, but Puffball simply flies into the castle. Tree tells Black Hole to use his flying abilities to pull Puffball out of their castle. Black Hole tries to do this, and as a result some of castle's walls are sucked up. Black Hole didn't want to risk killing anybody, and then Tree is reminded about their main goal of preventing death.
As Puffball is about to eat the Funny Plant, Remote reminds her that if she kills any of the Funny Plants herself, her team will be up for elimination. Fanny taunted Puffball for Two's rule stopping her, but Puffball thought of a new idea. She takes off the bracelet and brings Ice Cube to the jungle with her. Then, Puffball drops Ice Cube into the ground where the Funny Plant was located. Remote questions her motives, and Puffball explains that the Funny Plant is absorbing water from Ice Cube instead of the soil. This would mean that Ice Cube could shrink and die in mere minutes. She puts Death P.A.C.T. Again's goals to the test by giving them the option to either cut their Funny Plant to halt Ice Cube's absorption, putting them up for elimination, or letting Ice Cube die so that they will avoid elimination. Tree complimented Puffball's cleverness as she gave them a tough choice. Puffball takes off the bracelet and leaves the jungle.
Cake returns with the water from the ancient Yellow Face skeleton. Price Tag tries warns him, but it is too late as Cake gives the water to the Funny Plant. Nickel told Cake that any water that came in contact with an ancient Yellow Face skeleton was cursed. This causes the Funny Plant to shatter into small bits. Cake frantically tries to put the pieces back together in a futile effort. Two shows up, frightening the team. Naily asks how they got to the desert, and Two explains that they have a color-changing bracelet to teleport to any biome they wanted, impressing Price Tag. Two tells Just Not that they were up for elimination as their Funny Plant was the first to die. Cake apologizes to his team for letting that happen, but Book comforts him by saying that they were ones who didn't remind Cake about the skeleton. Then, Cake is shocked that he went from 5 points ahead of Pillow to 30 points behind in Yoyle Chess. Pillow says that was one of the consequences of being cursed by Yellow Face's skeleton.
Meanwhile in the Real World, Teardrop is shown on the window sliding down to one of her family members, presumably having a "family reunion", according to the text. The next number of scenes cuts back and forth between the Strongest Team of Earth. and Death P.A.C.T Again. Grassy is shown to be set on fire as Snowball lit him with a match offscreen. Although their Funny Plant was warm again, Basketball was worried of their plan being dangerous. Robot Flower notices Grassy's bracelet burning, but Eggy assures that is it'll be fine. Eggy asks if they have any other backup plans if Grassy's bracelet completely burns into ashes, but Snowball didn't have any. Then, she asks Robot Flower for ideas because she was the same species as the Funny Plant, to which Robot Flower said that Tree didn't consider her as a plant.
Meanwhile, in the jungle, Remote attempts to pull Ice Cube out of the ground, but she can't do this as Puffball inserted Ice Cube really deep and it exerted 110% of Remote's battery. Marker suggests to take the bracelet off Ice Cube's leg, but Fanny mentions that if Ice Cube teleports back home, she could noclip into the ground and suffocate. Tree suggests that they have to decide between letting either Ice Cube or the Funny Plant die. Then, Black Hole makes the final decision to kill the Funny Plant to save Ice Cube's life, as preventing death was far more important than losing. Tree mentioned that they needed a way to cut the plant, and Marker gets the idea to grab Two's scissors that they used to cut the ribbon earlier in the episode.
Tree happily tells Marker to go and grab the scissors. Marker takes off his bracelet and successfully collects the scissors. Grassy's bracelet is burned by the fire and teleports back to Goiky, as Marker runs into him, catching on fire himself. Although in pain, Marker manages to put on his bracelet to come back to the jungle. Tree congratulates Marker for getting the scissors in the nick of time and collects the scissors from him. Tree uses the scissors to cut their Funny Plant and save Ice Cube in the process.
Two shows up and tells Death P.A.C.T Again that they're the second team up for elimination, and Black Hole, Tree, and Remote accept the loss as a "necessary sacrifice." Fanny yells at them for not noticing that Marker was on fire, and the entire rainforest catches on fire from it. Two quickly takes off their bracelet to leave. The episode ends as Two tells the viewers to vote to save one contestant from Just Not and Death P.A.C.T Again, having one vote total. The contestants with the fewest votes from each team would be eliminated.
Stinger[]
A card is shown with the text, "But what is the fate of the 5 remaining Funny Plants?", along with footage of said funny plants below the text. Shortly afterwards, a montage of scenes showcasing the five other teams is shown.
Beginning with The Strongest Team on Earth., the team's Funny Plant is shown encased in a block of ice due to there being no suitable heat source to keep it warm. Basketball and Eggy complain about it prior to the flower breaking off from the stem. Afterwards, Are You Okay is shown, with Eraser complaining about the Davids' bad smell. The nearby David promptly takes offense at this comment and looks around before staring intently at them and yelling, "Aw, seriously?", at all of them, with the resulting shockwave killing the Funny Plant.
The S! is shown again, with Rocky barfing on the walls of his protective capsule once again, creating a lens that could refract gamma rays shot by the quasar. Just as Clock explains the phenomenon to Yellow Face, the quasar, which is 2,763 light years away (as later explained by Gaty), shoots a gamma ray onto Rocky's capsule. The lens splits the gamma-ray burst into three beams; one destroys The S!'s Funny Plant, and the other two head down to Earth. One destroys Team8s' funny plant (freeing up Donut); the other kills Tear Drop's funny plants. Afterward, the funny plant species became extinct, as exclaimed by Bottle. Two then celebrates both the rainforest fire and the funny plant's extinction, before congratulating themselves on their management ability and then waving the viewers goodbye.

- The title is a direct reference to the episode "Gardening Hero". However, unlike that episode, this episode actually involved gardening and plant care.
- The scene of The S! encountering the quasar mirrors the scene in "Gardening Hero" where Black Hole first appears.
- It's also likely that the quasar is a relative of Black Hole.
- The Teardrop family reunion is a reference to "Are You Smarter Than a Snowball?", released 13 years prior.
- The beginning of the new Cake at Stake song shows Two looking at the camera with a pencil and paper. This is a reference to TPOT 2's ending. The new intro itself and Two telling Gramophone they've been preparing for weeks is also a reference to this.
- Davidland and Yoyleland, both recurring locations in Battle for Dream Island Again and the latter being a main location in IDFB, appears again.
- So does the dead Yellow Face still stuck in the glue from the FreeSmart SuperVan, which has decomposed into a skeleton after the events of "The Long-lost Yoyle City".
- It is also revealed that the giant Davids in Davidland are the normal size for their species, and the David that has competed in the series is a smaller specimen.
- The music piece "Childhood Memories of Winter", also known as the elimination song in Ten Words of Wisdom and Algicosathlon, plays once again. It was last played in the series proper in "Take the Tower".
- Pin mentions the time she and Saw sniffed a funny plant together in "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life".

- In the scene where the quasar is about to fire for the first time, Yellow Face can be seen making an expression similar to the "PogChamp" emote from the livestreaming site Twitch, also called a "pog" face for short.
- Fanny uses the word "noclip", a term used to describe a video game cheat that disables clipping and allowing players to pass through walls, ceilings and floors.

Goofs[]
- Cindy Jiang is credited as Foldy even though she doesn't appear in the episode.
- Contrary to what Clock said, Ice Cube survived just fine in space in "Gardening Hero" and the events from "Four Goes Too Far" to "Questions Answered", although this may be because of the fact that there are no longer any budget cuts in TPOT.
- During his only 4 lines ("Hi there!", "Sure!", "Woah!", and "Oh my gosh!"), Bomby's voice is unusually low. Most likely there was an audio mistake where his voice wasn't pitched up.
- At the timestamp 26:28, the Cake at Stake Stage is misplaced out of the A-twos-ment Park.
- At the timestamp 22:41, Puffball isn't changing colors while she speaks.
- Fanny claims that Ice Cube would be 3 feet underground, but as confirmed by Leafy, Ice Cube's dimensions are either above or below 3 feet (8x9x11).
