For the species that resemble humans, see Davidians.

Cardboard cutouts of Jacknjellify as seen in BFB 2, as humans.

The concept of humans in Battle for Dream Island is a topic that is rarely addressed.

Background[]

Humans made their very first mention in "Half a Loaf Is Better Than None", in a split second text passage after Announcer gives the remaining armless contestants 10 sympathy points, where the text says that a human would be so excited that their heart's BPM would reach 2,400, ultimately causing their death. The same text passage praises the armless contestants for not experiencing what humans would.

In "Cycle of Life", pictures of a human being cooking and a child kicking a soccer ball are seen on the pink "YOU DO!" paper.

It is established that the characters are aware of the existence of humans, such as Firey in "Gardening Hero", where after David is eliminated, he says that David looked like a human with Firey commenting afterwards "whatever that is".

In "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know", Puffball's favorite screen is shown to be that of Abraham Lincoln on the US penny. However, it should be noted that this could be a reference to the Homestar Runner Easter egg on the "Fluffy Puffs Commercial" animation, where when playing the original flash animation and pressing the L key would create a border of a head resembling Abraham Lincoln.

In "Getting Teardrop to Talk", Gelatin is choosing the last few members to fill up what would become Team Ice Cube!. He excludes David for being human and calling him weird. David responds saying "Aw, seriously?", presumably in frustration or disappointment.

In "Lick Your Way to Freedom", once Donut is flung away by Four and X, a group of Recommended Characters can be seen, with one of them among the crowd being Jacknjellify, which consisted of the key members at the time: Michael Huang, Cary Huang, and Satomi Hinatsu. Notably, they are drawn as humans rather than Davidian. More recommended characters that are humans would appear later on, such as Amor Boretto, Kenzie Bryant, Jack (based on Jack Frew from I Can Make a Difference!), and Jellify are all based on humans. Although Satomi Hinatsu confirmed the ones based on members of the jacknjellify crew to be cardboard cutouts, their human-like depiction could still imply the existence of them.[1]

In "Catch These Hands", someone who enters Hell has a realistic limbs as well having a nose with no ears, and they look identical to real life humans.

In "Lots of Mud", Jack Frew makes an appearance in the episode's opening, where he talks to Fries. After Fries insults Jack's enjoyment of eating mud, he shakes the former until he is unconscious. After this, he exclaims "April Fools!" and disintegrates, leaving only his ears and hair.

Humans would make an explicit mention in "Fashion For Your Face!", where during the epilogue after Flower gets Purple Face to wear a sweater, it is mentioned that "scientists" discovered that the Yoyle dust used as the glitter for Flower's sweaters caused itchiness on human skin, and in rare cases, death.

Rubber Spatula and Shampoo call their voters by name in "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?".

The voters who vote on episodes are humans.

David's species[]

While David has been referred to as a human before, there is evidence that points towards him not actually being one. For example, Firey refers to David as a human, but then comments that he doesn't know what a human is. Therefore, it's likely Firey doesn't have much of an idea of what a human is and might have mistold David's species.

David also shows multiple abilities that humans don't have, for example, being able to survive poisonous bugs and inflate his head (at least shown in one of his clones).
