In "Taste the Sweetness", Needle defects to FreeSmart after being allured by Icy's "beautiful face". Despite this, when Puffball Speaker Box announces the costume to be to sell the most ice cream, Needle shatters her in a bowl to keep the ice cream cool.
In "Airplanes in the Night Sky", Ice Cube tells Pencil that Needle's not actually a FreeSmarter after she reacted to Fries killing her. Pencil replies to Ice Cube that you're not actually a FreeSmarter. Later on, Pencil, Ice Cube, and Ruby activate their wheel formation and roll across the water towards Yoyleland to revive her.
Episodes suggesting a conflict[]
In "Rescission", Ice Cube tells Bubble "Needy's got to join", and afterwards, Needle slaps her from the TLC.
In "Lots of Mud", after the Cake at Stake, when Golf Ball flips Ice Cube, she along with the rest of his team backs away from Ice Cube to form a new team by bullying Ice Cube. Later, when Ice Cube angrily talks to Flower, Needle puts Ice Cube down.
In "Well, Look Who It Is!", Needle laughs at the WTF prisoners (including Ice Cube) for being eliminated.
In "🥚", Ice Cube tells Fries after he doesn't want to host that she wants to watch the final 5 (including Needle) be tortured as they struggle to compete and that it's not fair that they outlasted both of them.
Trivia[]
Both characters were originally voiced by Cary Huang, before starting to speak mostly with reused lines throughout the first 2 seasons due to Cary's puberty making him unable to pull off their voices. Both were voiced by one-time people after Cary became unable to keep voicing them and before Satomi and Kenzie joined the team, one of them being Keiko Eng or her brother. Then Satomi and Kenzie joined the team, Both were voiced by Satomi Hinatsu at one point and are currently voiced by Kenzie Bryant.
Also, both characters are the only original contestants who have been consistently voiced by people outside of the Huang twins.
Coincidentally, Ice Cube placed 7th, while Needle was the 7th contestant eliminated in BFDI.
