If Among Us Was a BFDI Challenge is a short animated video on the jacknjellify channel based around the 2018 video game Among Us. It was released on Sunday, November 20, 2020.
The video starts with Gelatin attempting the infamous "Card Swipe Task" in Admin on The Skeld. Gelatin swipes the card, and it rejects it, with Remote saying that he is too slow, and he needs to try again. After a second attempt, with Remote saying it was too fast, Gelatin succeeds, but Remote means that his card is gloopy. Gelatin doesn't believe her, though it is revealed that his card is goopy with little pieces of jelly stuck to it. Gelatin then licks the goop off the card.
Cafeteria, part 1[]
Eraser starts by "asking" Coiny about the emergency button. Then it flashbacks to "Reveal Novum". Eraser then points toward the Among Us "emergency button". With both of them not knowing what it is, Match and Pencil then insult them, and go to MedBay to do a scan together.
Admin, part 2[]
Back in Admin, the card is swiped too aggressively and then too daintily. Gelatin then bursts into anger.
Unknown task room[]
Four and Lollipop enter the unknown room, which has a single task. Lollipop says that the task requires to shatter a vase with their voice. Lollipop attempts to do so, but fails. Four then shatters it with his Screechy, and Lollipop compliments him. She then asks why Four is wearing a body of a Teletubby. Four said that he and X agreed to do this together. Lollipop then leaves, whilst tipping Four over, leaving him stuck.
Admin, part 3[]
Back in Admin, the card is swiped too circular, too squarely, and then too pentagonally. Gelatin then states that he doesn't even know what a pentagon is.
Medbay[]
Match and Pencil both go to Medbay to do the Medbay scan. Match presses the "Go" button and says that it tickles while scanning. After Match's scan, it is Pencil's turn. Pencil chose the wrong move by accidentally breaking the touch-screen, which disallows Pencil to scan. Tennis Ball gives Pencil "a working model of the Medbay scanner", which turns out to be a deathtrap, and Tennis Ball turns out to be an impostor, as the deathtrap kills Pencil.
Admin, part 4[]
Back in Admin, the card is swiped too wiggly and straight. Bracelety then appears and points out to Gelatin that the admin card was an 'Ice CubeAppreciation Post Card'. She also points out that the real admin card was on the floor behind him. Gelatin proceeds to swipe the card, but the doors close as soon as he is about to swipe it. X then appears behind him, revealing himself to be an impostor. X then kills Gelatin.
Cafeteria, part 2[]
Back in the cafeteria, Eraser proceeds to press the emergency button, which brings all of the BFB contestants (minus Pencil and Gelatin, who died earlier), including Four and X, to said cafeteria. Eraser then states his opinion that in the BFDI world, ships should not exist. This makes Bell alarmed. Then, the ship that Eraser was talking about disappears, and all of the BFB contestants, Four, and X get sucked into Black Hole, who says that Black Holes always win in the end.
Trivia[]
This video was possibly made in response to BFDI fans saying "What Do You Think of Roleplay?" was ripping off Among Us
This short marks the third time Black Hole kills in a non-canon video, with the first two instances being "Happy Birthday, Battle for BFDI!" and the "Instagram Promotion" for the BFDI Character Guide.
This is the first time Stapy and Liy (the two characters that never died) died. However, this is not canon.
This is the first BFDI short and the second video from jacknjellify to make it onto the trending tab of YouTube.
The short is known to be the first video to trend in the US.
Eraser and Coiny directly reference their lines about an emergency button back in "Reveal Novum".
Eraser talking about "ships" and how they should not exist in the BFDI world could be a reference to the many fan-made shippings regarding BFDI characters. Shipping, which is short for "relationship", refers to non-canon romantic relationships between two or more characters in a certain genre.
According to the video, this was made simultaneous to AnimationEpic's ship.
The working title for this video was "Battle for Among Us", as revealed by Thomas Chick on May 7th, 2022 when he showed a folder containing his voice clips for Tree on the Jacknjellify Patron Discord.[2]
Cultural references[]
When Four screeches to destroy the vase, He looks similar to the Tounge Kill animation the Imposter can do.
Lollipop references the British children's television series Teletubbies when she questions why Four is wearing a "hide unethically scraped off the body of an innocent Teletubby".
This is also a joke surrounding the design of the crewmates in Among Us, which people have pointed out looks like the body of a Teletubby with no arms and head.
Four, X, and the 62 remaining contestants are all swallowed into Black Hole (except for Book, due to an animation error/goof/mistake).
Goofs[]
Tree did not show up when Eraser pushed the Emergency Meeting button, despite Tree appearing when the ship disappeared, and when he got swallowed by Black Hole.
Book did not show up when the ship disappeared, despite Book appearing when Eraser pressed the Emergency Meeting button in the Cafeteria.
In the Emergency Meeting scene, David and Dora's bodies did not appear, due to the floor of the ship being the same color.
In this short, Eraser says that his brain is telling him to press the button.
However, in BFDI 25 and later Twosday, he says that erasers don't have brains.
