500-step platform[]
- Main article: 500-step platform
“ | The eleventh contest is to pick one of your teammates to climb those stairs and press the button. | ” |
The 500-step platform is a structure that first appeared in "Getting Teardrop to Talk", that most of the time appeared as a straight pillar, then reappeared in "Get to the Top in 500 Steps", as the challenge for the episode, and appearing more of the time as a staircase. It was also reused again in "B.F.B. = Back From Beginning", as part of the challenge, which consisted of all the challenges altogether.
Appearance[]
The 500-step platform is a vertically dominant platform that consists of 500 steps to reach the top. It is unknown how tall the platform exactly is; however, it presumably takes a reasonably long time to scale up. This is based on the amount of time it took the contestants in "Get to the Top in 500 Steps" to reach the top. It is assumed to be half a mile tall by Pencil.
Coverage[]
The grey platform played a somewhat important role in "Getting Teardrop to Talk", where X stood on it while waiting for his baskets. The only team to interact with it directly is , using the steps to deliver X's basket.
In "Get to the Top in 500 Steps", the platform was again used in the challenge where a representative from each team had to climb the stairs in order to reach the top. Up there they would find a button, to win the challenge for their team they needed to press that button. When the challenge starts, Flower gets knocked over by the other contestants, with Pie telling her to "move it or lose it".
Announcer's Home[]
Announcer's Home is the place that Announcer and the other speaker boxes presumably originate from.
In "Rescission", Announcer's Diary mentions that he isn't from Earth, implying he's from another world.
At the end of "Return of the Hang Glider", the speaker boxes come to collect Announcer. It was actually mentioned for the first time when Teardrop Speaker Box says that BFDI wasn't a success and that Announcer must return with them and it was "time to go home."

In "SOS (Save Our Show)", a flashback taking place during or after "Getting Teardrop to Talk" shows a glimpse of the Announcer's home. All that is shown of it is a ball pit with attached television, located in a purple area of which very little is seen.

It was first mentioned by Four in "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset", when asked where X was by Cloudy. X presumably went there because Four roasted him by telling him that at least he's "not the one that doesn't know their value".

It can be used to download information, but that can only be done if there is a stable connection. It also can tell when someone will die.
Coverage[]
In "The Liar Ball You Don't Want", the teams and A Better Name Than That worked together to send Robot Flower to the Data Void. While she was inside it, Tennis Ball and Basketball used Robot Flower's panels and legs to control Remote's actions, hoping they could use her to defend their team goals.
The connection becomes unstable, and Remote is once again able to control herself. She sends a message into the Void that programs it to download a bomb. Another message is transferred to Robot Flower, which notifies her that her teammates, along with the members of , are going to die.
Robot Flower is given the option to close the connection, which she previously told her team she wouldn't do. She is torn between going against her team's wishes, and causing them to lose, and risking their lives so they can win a contest.
Robot Flower decides to close the connection to save her team and from dying allowing Remote to score in their goal and Death P.A.C.T. to win. Robot Flower then leaves the Void and is brought back to the moon.

” |
— FreeSmart, "No More Snow!"
|
Gem School is an alluded location in Goiky. According to Book, it is an educational institution campus for diamonds exclusively. However, this would later turn out to be false.
In "No More Snow!", as Ruby was pressing buttons on Evil Leafy to escape from her, she pressed buttons that screwed up the process, killing Pencil, and exploding Match and Ice Cube. After Ruby presses the yellow button, Pencil scolds Ruby and asks her if she went to Gem School. Ruby says that she did not go there, but Book mentions that Gem School is only for diamonds.
In "Catch These Hands", Ruby said she couldn't read, and explained that the reason was that she didn't go to Gem School. Later, it turned out that Ruby was only lying so she would get sympathy points from Pencil.
In "Lots of Mud", Flower calls Ruby a Gem School drop-out, which implies that Gem School might indeed be a real place, but Flower could possibly be just guessing.
In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4", it is revealed that Ruby's sisters indeed all went to Gem School and lied to Ruby saying it's just for diamonds, as revenge for her getting to be the star of BFDI amongst the family.

All the contestants eventually shrink down to the atomic level, where they remove protons from the atomic structure to transform the lead into gold. During this, they throw protons at each other, killing Bomby, Needle, Tennis Ball, Book, and Nickel. Pin avoids this by being shrunken down to the subatomic level by Pencil. This allows Pencil, Fries, and Coiny to pass into the birdhouse without dying to lead poisoning.

The names of the nickels in the auditions are BFDI's Nickel as we know him, Nickel the II, Nickel the fourth, and Blickel, each having a slightly different look.[citation needed]
