Cold open[]

The episode starts with a crowd of Davidians by a stage with curtains on it, with crickets in the background. The curtain then reveals, Lewis, who now has sunglasses, and all of the Davidians cheer for him. It then cuts to Lewis relaxing in a hot tub. He then drinks a martini, and then it cuts to him driving a fancy car past Tennis Ball, Fries, and Firey Speaker Box. Fries asks if that was Lewis, with Tennis Ball confirming it is Lewis, and him saying that he definitely loves cars with mirrors. Fries asks the Firey Speaker Box on how Lewis afforded his fancy car, with Firey Speaker Box telling him that he won the lottery. Tennis Ball asks if he won it for real, and Fries is interested and asks if he can enter the lottery, with Firey Speaker Box telling him to go knock himself out. Fries says awesome and runs over to the lottery machine and places a ticket inside. The machine's auto generated voice says that his ticket has been received, but he has to come back in 2 days for results. Fries sits down, and says that he'll wait.

Before Cake at Stake[]

Book, Ice Cube, Ruby, and Pencil walk to the smoldering remains of the Aerospace Manufacturing Plant. Ruby says wow and calls it an anti-beauty. Pencil declares that they should rummage through the wreckage, and jumps in a pile of wrecked gears. Book finds an ancient spaceship laser shooter, and even though she is unsure if it still works, she says she'll hold onto it for historical reasons. Ruby then finds a pile of small gears, and Book says they look so attractive. Ruby says they'd look fabulous as earrings on Pencil. She puts them on her, and corrects herself and calls them gearrings. Pencil says she's right because they compliment her "metal headband" just exquisitely. The Firey Speaker Box arrives and says hello to the FreeSmart member with the ugly earrings, and others. He asks if they want to do Cake at Stake. Pencil does a lip smack and says no, but Ruby excitedly exclaims she wants to do it, annoying Pencil who says "gosh dangit, Ruby!". Ruby asks the Firey Speaker Box if they can do it at their Clubhouse of Awesomeness, since it has cultural significance to them. The Firey Speaker Box agrees to do so. They travel on foot through the Goiky Canal, which is still littered with the team's dead bodies from BFDIA 5d. Pencil catches a corpse of herself while they're walking to TCOA, and looks digusted. She throws it away and they continue their journey through the desert, across the Plains, and finally up the Eiffel Tower and into the Clubhouse of Awesomeness. The Firey Speaker Box comments on how dark it is, with Pencil saying that they have to "turn on the Liy". Book tells Ice Cube that they're in the Clubhouse of Awesomeness, and compliments it by remarking that it's a technological marvel. Ice Cube is also impressed, and says that last time they were here, they got kicked out. Book says that Match isn't here to exclude them anymore. Firey Speaker interrupts and begins the Cake at Stake ceremony.

Cake at Stake[]

The new Cake at Stake intro is played, with TV and Lewis doing Kung-Fu with Chinese text above them that reads "Flour, Butter, and Cake" in English. Book dislikes the intro and asks if it's officially the Cake at Stake intro now, and Firey Speaker Box confirms it is. He also announces that he brought Firey and Gelatin, with Firey greeting FreeSmart. Ruby is shocked and points at them saying they are not FreeSmarters. She raises her right leg and is about to kick Firey and Gelatin out of TCOA, until Book stops her by stepping in the way of Firey and Gelatin, saying that, since she is an inclusion handbook, the team must include them. Ruby cracks into 9 pieces due to the force of Book blocking her kick. Firey asks Ruby if he can have her yoylite, with Gelatin's headphones playing the noise again. Book looks angrily at Firey after he says this. Firey Speaker Box gets irritated and says enough. He tells FreeSmart that since they failed to build a dungeon last episode, they're on the chopping block. Firey Speaker Box shows who got the most likes from viewers with them receiving a prize. While the votes are being displayed, Book calls the TV a historic Clubhousian innovation, with Ice Cube in awe. Ruby wins the prize with 33,642 likes. Firey congratulates Ruby, but asks how her dead shards will spin the wheel. Ruby then suddenly reappears, much to Firey's shock. She spins the wheel, and it lands on "Time Travel to 10 seconds ago and be reassembled". Ruby says that that's a weird prize, and that she'd like to request a new one. When she finishes saying this, her shards disappear. Ruby wonders what just happened, with Firey Speaker Box saying that was her prize, and telling her to be thankful. Ruby says she's not, and Firey Speaker Box slaps her with a smaller version of the Sender Scoop Thrower.

Firey Speaker Box then says it's onto the dislikes. He says that if any of them are safe, they will receive a slice of Asbestos Cake, but if one of them got the most dislikes, they will be eliminated. The first contestants safe are Ruby and Book, with 7,871 and 9,200 dislikes respectively. They both receive their slices of Asbestos Cake, and Book thanks the Firey Speaker Box, but then realizes that this is the same cake from last episode. Firey Speaker Box nervously says maybe, with Book getting close, saying that no W.O.A.H. Bunchers actually ate their asbestos. Book then realizes that's a good thing, and jumps in the air yelling "Hooray!", with a text in the background saying "Don't eat asbestos, kids". She then falls on top of Spongy. He says that he ate the asbestos cake, with Firey Speaker Box telling Spongy that he is next-level weird. He then announces that the next contestants safe are the headphone duo, Ice Cube and Gelatin, with 11,398 and 11,439 dislikes respectively. Gelatin and Ice Cube both catch their slices, both gleefully exclaiming.

Pencil is sitting down until Ruby zooms over to her, and shakes her repeatedly, telling her to wake up, yelling "Danger alert!". Pencil says that she is awake, and asks what the big deal is. Ruby says that the vote is down to between her and Firey. Pencil scoffs, telling Ruby that she's not worried, since the voters would never pick a non-FreeSmarter over her. Firey hugs Gelatin and tells him he's scared while hugging him. Gelatin tells him to not be, since the last time this happened, he got the most likes, and that the fans love him. Firey Speaker Box shows the votes, and the votes are displayed with a drumroll, with Firey looking nervous, and Pencil looking bored. The votes are revealed, and Pencil is safe with 13,530 votes, while Firey is eliminated with 14,028. Pencil says that she knew she was fine, with Book and Ice Cube cheering with her. Firey yells, and tells Ruby that he hopes she enjoys her stupid Yoylite, as that's the whole reason he's even on this team. Ruby takes a bite out of her apple, and says to not blame her, but blame TB, saying that if he wanted the Yoylite so badly, he should've just switched to FreeSmart. Firey realizes Ruby is right and yells "CURSE YOU, TENNIS BALL!". It cuts to Golf Ball still glued to the tree in the Yoyle Woodlands, with Tennis Ball there too. Tennis Ball worriedly says that it sounds like Firey is having trouble getting them the Yoylite. Golf Ball tells Tennis Ball to trust the process, and that he'll get it for them eventually. It cuts back to Firey still screaming, with Pencil suddenly putting a Yoyleberry in Firey's mouth to make him stop screaming. She says that the yoyleberry will make him not burn down the WTF, and laughing after The Sender Scoop Thrower flings him to the WTF. He says goodbye to Tennis Ball, and that he's Rocky's friend now, who agrees with him happily.

Before the contest[]

After Firey's elimination, Firey Speaker Box uncontrollably starts crying. Pencil points out that he had his owner, Firey, for many years until now. Book concludes that Firey Speaker Box is a "complete emotional wreck," thus is too distraught to host. This gives Pencil an idea to bring back an old host. She turns on the magnetizer to retrieve Puffball Speaker Box, who had been stabbed and vomiting since BFDIA 5a. The magnet pulls the knife out of PSB, but Pencil's gearrings turn out to be magnetic. Pencil asks Ruby if this is true, who confirms that it may be. The magnet then flips Pencil to the front of it, with her screaming. The PSB and the knife both crash into TCOA, with the knife landing on Pencil, causing her to scream again. Puffball Speaker Box lands on the floor and asks where she is. Ruby picks her up, saying her name, and PSB says hello to her, and calls her "weird one". Ruby asks if she can host BFDIA for them, which she agrees to. Ruby asks what they should do first, and PSB says they can spin the wheel to choose the next contest.

Contest[]

The contest chosen is to paint the Eiffel Tower, whichever team's color has the least visible paint being up for elimination. FreeSmart's team color is pink, Team No-Name's color is green, and W.O.A.H. Bunch's is purple. Tennis Ball learns that Fries has won a car from the lottery ticket he submitted earlier and they use it to drive around and dump their team's paint onto the tower.

Book asks Gelatin if he's still on the team with the latter saying yes, continuing his quest to get the yoylite for Tennis Ball. Back with W.O.A.H. Bunch, Needle worries when she realizes her team color is purple. Pin asks what's wrong, realizing that it's because of Yellow Face's severe hatred for the color. Pin sends Coiny to Gelatin's Steakhouse, currently rebranding to Gelatin's Shadeshouse, to retrieve sunglasses for Yellow Face that can swap the visibility of yellow and purple colors. After a heated argument, Yellow Face ends up knocking Bomby off the tower. Nickel scolds Yellow Face for doing this at first, but when he learns that Bomby can explode purple paint on the tower, he encourages Yellow Face to continue.

While pouring green paint, Tennis Ball realizes Golf Ball isn't with them in the car. As it turns out, she is still glued to the tree from last episode, with her wondering where her team is. She hopes they will return and feels 99.9% sure about it. Tennis Ball also asks where Firey and his yoylite are, with Fries dismissing him and telling him to just keep pouring paint, and that Firey and the yoylite are "probably underground", to Tennis Ball's dismay.

Realizing Freesmart falling behind, Pencil grabs Book's laser shooter and aims at Fries and Tennis Ball. Fries tells Tennis Ball to invent something to reflect the lazers, but Tennis Ball can't build without Golf Ball's expertise in mechanical engineering, as evidenced when he built a satellite dish to use as a shield, only for it to fall to the ground, to Fries' dismay. Fries then rips off the car mirror and tells TB to use it to deflect the lasers. The lasers reflect off of the car mirror, but one laser hits the bucket of pink paint on top of the Eiffel Tower. The bucket of pink paint lands on the ground and it all spills into the satellite dish, worrying Ruby.

Coiny is seen trying on the different types on sunglasses at the Shadeshouse, with him saying that "ladle fashion" is in, but it's not quite his style after trying a pair of ladle sunglasses on. He then tries on a butcher's knife sunglasses, and calls himself "good lookin'", but he then says that he doesn't feel comfortable with Yellow Face wearing something like that. He then tries on a pair of hot sauce sunglasses, confusing it for ketchup at first, and asks why they tried to make sunglasses out of a ketchup bottle. Barbecue Sauce then chimes in, letting him know that the place used to be a steakhouse. Coiny is surprised by this and asks who they are. BBQ Sauce tells him that they used to go by Barbecue Sauce but says that they haven't heard that name for a while. Coiny says that he is super hungry, and they look super tasty. He asks BBQ Sauce if they have anything to eat. BBQ Sauce then breaks into a song about steak. Coiny says that that sounds appetizing and tells them to serve him some meat now. BBQ Sauce shushes him and calls him a dum dum. They say they were joking and tell him to take a look around here and see if there's a kitchen around here. Coiny says that he guesses he doesn't, with BBQ Sauce saying exactly. BBQ Sauce then explains to Coiny that Gelatin pivoted from steak to sunglasses after "the rancid recession of 2013". After that, all of their savory friends had to either go find other jobs or get killed and turned into consumable eyewear. Coiny gets scared by this information and discards his sunglasses. BBQ Sauce also tells him that his name was Hot Sauce, not Ketchup. Coiny apologizes, and BBQ Sauce sighs and says that since he came in here to buy sunglasses, they don't want to get in his way. He gives him a pair of blue and green sunglasses and tells him to buy these. He then rings the bell on the counter 3 times. Gelatin hears the bell being ringed and says that he feels himself being summoned. He jumps in the air and does a heroic pose. He then lands into the Shadeshouse. BBQ Sauce hides when Gelatin arrives. Gelatin says hello to Coiny and calls him a customer and asks if he'd like to purchase a product. Coiny says yes and shows him the pair of blue and green sunglasses. Gelatin asks if he smells BBQ Sauce, even after last month's fumigation. Coiny nervously says that he doesn't think so, and kicks BBQ Sauce, causing them to roll out of the Shadeshouse, with the door slamming afterwards. Gelatin guesses not and says that Coiny chose a nice pair of "sunnies". He opens up the cash register and asks Coiny how he'd like to pay. Coiny realizes that he forgot to carry cash on him, but Gelatin signals that he could just pay with himself. Coiny realizes this too. Gelatin says that that will do, and he puts Coiny into the cash register and closes it. He then wishes Coiny a good day, and turns off the lights and closes the door, leaving Coiny in the cash register.

Back on the Eiffel Tower, Nickel asks the PSB if there's a HPRC up here. PSB says there sure is, and shows a French themed HPRC, saying that's how she brought them up here to start this challenge. Nickel then says that he wanted to recover his friend, Bomby. PSB tells him to go for it. He types Bomby's name into the HPRC, but the crank won't budge. Nickel asks Spongy if he wants to help him out since he is stronger than him. Spongy agrees, remarking that he is the good coin after all. Pin notices Spongy saying this and asks him what the big deal is, wondering why he is being such a meanie to her friendy Coiny lately. Spongy denies this at first, but Pin says that he has. Spongy then admits it and says that he just can't forgive him for throwing him on those spikes a few months ago, and that it was so painful he wanted to scream. Pin feels sad for Spongy and says she has no idea that happened, and that it does sound harsh. Pin then suggests to Spongy that she, Coiny, and him can talk things out together when he gets back, to soothe Spongy's feelings. Spongy says that he'll think about it.

Book asks to have a word with Pencil and says that it's because of her aggression that their team lost their only source of pink paint, but Pencil is quick to prove her wrong, showing her a syringe with pink paint inside it. Book is surprised by this and says she doesn't follow. Pencil jokes that the laser shooter is more like a paint shooter now, injecting the syringe into the laser shooter, turning it pink. She then laughs and starts shooting pink paint at Team No Name again, with Fries dodging it like Leafy, Spongy, and Puffball. Some of the pink paint lands on TB, turning him pink. He comments on this, saying that he now looks like a cotton candy glob. Pencil laughs again and asks Ruby if she wants a go at it, with her being excited, yelling "OH MY GUMDROP, YES!". She then shoots the paint at the Gelatin's Shadeshouse Gelatin icon, turning it pink, GB's underground factory sign, turning it pink as well, the cattle for dream island, turning all the animals pink, and finally shooting pink paint at the recommended characters, which splatters pink paint all over them. Fries says that they must stop FreeSmart's rampage, with him then asking TB if he has any ideas on how to distract them. TB says he's not sure, but then looks up at Ruby's Yoylite and says that he does have a idea. Fries asks to hear it. TB whispers the plan to Fries. Fries gets worried and says that there's no way they can survive that, but TB says they have no other option, with Fries reluctantly agreeing. He speeds up the Eiffel Tower, with it directly hitting Ruby's Yoylite. Ruby is shocked by this and jumps to get her Yoylite, and Pencil jumps to get her paint shooter. The car crashes into both of them. They all are in the sky for the moment, until they crash down and die next to Gelatin's Shadeshouse. Gelatin is seen walking obliviously next to the car accident.

Nickel says that he will type, and Spongy cranks. They recover Bomby, and he says hello to them, with them saying hello back. Spongy tells Needle to throw Bomby since she has the arms of the team. Needle says she's on it and throws Bomby onto the tower, with him exploding and getting more purple paint onto the tower. Nickel and Spongy recover him again, with Bomby telling them that was very rude, as he only wanted to just hang out with them. Needle says she's still on it, and throws Bomby at the tower again, with him getting more purple paint on the tower. Spongy tells Needle to repeat at super speed, which she does.

Pin looks at the screen and tells Yellow Face that their team is in first, to which he gleefully exclaims "YAY!". Pin also tells him that Coiny has been gone at Gelatin's Shadeshouse for a really long time, and asks if they should go check on him, with him saying that he sure does. They both jump down to go to the Shadeshouse.

Book worriedly tells Ice Cube that it's just them left for FreeSmart, and wonders how they could possibly win when they have no pink paint left. Ice Cube says they do. Book is confused by this and says that Pencil definitely flew off with the last of it in the syringe. Ice Cube then grabs onto the tip of the Eiffel Tower and tells Book to pull to the left. Book is confused but Ice Cube tells her to just do it. Book says okay, and Ice Cube tells her to pull right, then left, then right, then left, then right, then left, then right, then left, then right, and Ice Cube then says let's do it, and they pull right, which pushes the tip into the dish of pink paint, turning Book, Ice Cube, Needle, Nickel, and Spongy pink.

Pin and Yellow Face arrive at Gelatin's Shadeshouse, with Yellow Face remarking that it smells so "meaty meaty". Pin says it sure does, but asks Coiny if he's in here. Coiny, inside of the cash register, answers Pin, but his words get muffled due to him being in the cash register. Pin says that she hears Coiny's voice but wonders where it is coming from. Yellow Face tells Pin to use his 50% off Coiny Detector to find his exact location. Pin says that it's so convenient, and that it's pointing her to the counter. Yellow Face tells "Coiny Woiny" to "come out, come out wherever [he] is". Pin, behind the counter, says that he must be somewhere around this side of the store, but she doesn't know exactly. She wises something sharp could point at his exact location, and conveniently, the Eiffel Tower tip bursts into the Shadeshouse, pointing at the cash register. It then picks up the cash register. Yellow Face tells Pin to grab it, but she exclaims that she doesn't have arms. The Eiffel Tower flings Coiny into outer space, with him still stuck inside the cash register. Book says that their strategy is genius while swinging on top of the tip of the Eiffel Tower. Ice Cube tells her to keep going, as they're not done yet. Book says for them to keep pushing, with the Eiffel Tower top repeatedly going back into the dish of pink paint. PSB then appears, saying that one hour is up, and goes to check out how much of the Eiffel Tower is colored each color. 70% is pink, meaning FreeSmart is the first team safe. Ice Cube and Book cheer and high five each other. PSB is about to announce the second team safe until Gelatin asks her if she wants to wear these trendy new sunnies, with her agreeing. She puts them on and says she looks so fashionable. She then looks at the tower again, saying that she sees a ton of pink, a little bit of green, but no purple at all, which means Team No Name gets second place. PSB asks W.O.A.H. Bunch why they didn't get a single drop of purple paint on the tower, and she calls them pathetic. Nickel is upset about this and tells her that there is literally so much purple paint, saying that it's right there in front of her eyes, but PSB says that she has no eyes. Needle calls Gelatin a nasty little troublemaker and that it's all his fault, but Gelatin says that since he is Team No-Namer by blood, he has to keep his No-Name brothers safe.

Stinger[]

Golf Ball, still glued to the tree, says that she's the star of the show, but she didn't even get to participate in today's contest. She thinks this is unfair and says she deserves more screen time immediately, with Fries covering her saying "No you don'-", and then the episode ends.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first episode of several things:
    • The first appearance of BBQ Sauce.
    • The first BFDIA episode after the 10-year hiatus to not be produced at Jacknjellify's Water Garden offices and to instead be produced remotely. This is because Jacknjellify vacated their Summer 2023 office space at Water Garden in Santa Monica on September 30, 2023, a day before "Intruder Alert" was released.
    • The first episode of BFDIA where a contestant does not switch teams.
    • The first episode where a team cheats/sabotages a team without being caught.
    • The first episode of BFDIA to take place in Southern Goiky since "Get in the Van" and the first episode to have a contest take place there since "Zeeky Boogy Doog".
    • The first episode where characters could be recommended through means other than Patreon since "Welcome Back". In this case, recommended characters can be requested for the next BFDIA episode via a form.
  • This is the second episode where a speaker box cries, after "Rescission". (In this case, Firey Speaker Box cries because his owner got eliminated and is no longer with him.)
    • Ironically, Firey was the least voted to be eliminated in "Rescission", whereas he got the most votes to be eliminated this episode.
  • This episode was the first BFDIA episode since "It's a Monster" to not be released on the 1st day of a month.
  • This is the 5th episode in a row to feature a FreeSmart character on the thumbnail.
  • Cary said that BFDIA 8 would be cancelled if AnimationEpic reaches 500K subscribers before jacknjellify reaches 2M, but Adam later stated it was only a joke.
  • While FreeSmart and the Firey Speaker Box were at the TCOA, Pencil refers to a lightswitch as a Liy, which is a reference to a character with the same name.
    • Liy also appears as a recommended character.
  • Going by release date order, this is the second BFDI episode overall to mention the featuring of a special guest in the title, with the first being "Fashion For Your Face!".
  • As of BFDIA 8, the 8th word said is "definitely". Therefore, the current message is "Don't try that thing again, because it definitely—".
  • This episode is tied with "Lofty" for the shortest title, at only 5 letters each.
    • This episode is also the first since "Hurtful!" to feature a one word title.
  • Going by release date order, this is the first episode since "SOS (Save Our Show)" to not be announced on jacknjellify's community tab prior to its release.
  • This is the first episode of BFDIA (if BFDIA 5 is counted as one episode) where nobody enters the TLC/LOL.
  • The three season one contestants who received the most votes to join BFDIA, ignoring disqualified players, have all been eliminated. First being Teardrop, then Rocky, and Firey lastly.
  • Going by release date order, this is the first time since Cycle of Life where the 8th episode of a season did not have fake voting.
  • This is the last BFDIA episode of 2023.
    • In-universe, this is the last BFDIA episode of 2013.

Elimination[]

  • In terms of release date order, this episode marks the second time Firey got eliminated, since the first time in "The Tweested Temple" in Battle for BFB.
    • But in universe-order, this was the first time Firey got eliminated.
  • Due to Firey being eliminated this episode, this is the second time in a row where the contestant eliminated had switched to the team the previous episode.
  • In season chronology, this is the first episode where Firey doesn't participate in a challenge and also marks his first elimination.
  • Firey is the fourth original BFDI contestant to be eliminated, following Teardrop in "Zeeky Boogy Doog", Match in "Get in the Van", and Rocky in "Intruder Alert".
  • Firey is the third BFDIA contestant voiced by Michael Huang to be eliminated, following Donut in "Get Digging" and Puffball in "Well Rested".
    • This leaves Book, Coiny, and Fries as the only contestants voiced by Michael Huang still competing in BFDIA.
  • Firey is the first and only contestant to win the previous season and get eliminated in the next season.
  • In release date order and universe-order, this marks Firey's first time not making it to the merge.
  • Firey is the second post-split BFB contestant to be eliminated, following Teardrop.
    • However, after Ruby's elimination in BFDIA 15, no more post-split BFB (Battle for BFB) contestants are still competing in BFDIA.

Continuity references[]

  • One of the challenges on the challenge wheel was "Bowling (no explosions)", a reference to "Bowling, Now with Explosions!".
  • Nickel and Spongy recover Bomby over and over again just to kill him by throwing him into the Eiffel Tower just like how Blocky and Pen did with Ice Cube in "Are You Smarter Than a Snowball?" to put out a fire, and Winner also did with Ice Cube in "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life" to neutralize the pH of Rocky's acid barf and "Fishes and Dishes" to throw her into the Goiky Canal to freeze it.
    • This is also the first time this has been done with a character other than Ice Cube.
  • The scene where Fries interrupts Tennis Ball by saying "Car!" is a reference to TPOT 4.
  • The music played when Pencil, Ruby, Book, Ice Cube, and Firey Speaker Box are walking to the Clubhouse of Awesomeness is "Stringed Disco", the same music played in "Get Digging" when Puffball was flying Gelatin and Needle to Yoyleland.
  • During the scene where FreeSmart and Firey Speaker Box travel across the Goiky Canal, we see multiple clones of the drowned FreeSmart members' corpses, which is a reference to "It's a Monster" and "Fishes and Dishes".
  • Coiny says "Hey, good looking!" again, just like in the episode, "The Seven Wonders of Goiky".
  • The scene where Firey yells "Curse you, Tennis Ball!" almost starts the TPOT intro. It even uses the same camera zoom effect that is used to start the TPOT intro.
  • The laser gun is the same one from "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life" and "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters".
    • Although, chronologically, this is its first appearance.
  • Ice Cube's strategy of shaking the Eiffel Tower to cover it in pink paint is a nod to the episode, "Zeeky Boogy Doog", where Pin shakes the Eiffel Tower to get Book, Firey, Gelatin, and Tennis Ball down from there.
  • The scene where Pencil uses a magnet to recover Puffball Speaker Box is a partial reference to the episode "Enter the Exit" where Pin successfully recovers Four by using a syringe containing a liquidated Four after Firey removes the syringe from Donut's body as part of the The Losers' strategy to recover Four in said episode.
  • The dodging pattern is done once again. This time, Fries uses the pattern to avoid FreeSmart's pink "paint bullets" with Tennis Ball in his new car, albeit the pattern is vertical.
  • The wedge on the Challenge Wheel that says "Goiky Quiz" is a reference to the BFB episode "Questions Answered".
  • This is the second time where Coiny was being used as currency in exchange of another item. The first one was in "Sweet Tooth".
  • When Pin asks Yellow Face if they should go look for Coiny, Yellow Face responds with "Mmm.... I SURE DO!!", which is the same thing he said when Pin asked him to join W.O.A.H. Bunch in "Zeeky Boogy Doog".
  • Spongy references the events "No More Snow!", when Coiny threw him on the spikes at the bottom of the Evil Canyon to save their team from landing on the spikes themselves. A flashback to this episode is also featured.
    • Additionally, Pin says that she wants to talk it out with Spongy to soothe his feelings, which is a quote she first said to Leafy in "Return of the Hang Glider".
  • Golf Ball predicting a 99.9% chance of Tennis Ball and Fries coming to save her is a reference to "The Long-lost Yoyle City", when she told Puffball that their team had a 99.9% chance of winning that episode's challenge.
  • The scene where Firey Speaker Box says "Hello, FreeSmarter with the ugly earrings and others!" is a partial reference to the BFB episode "SOS (Save Our Show)" where Announcer does the same thing to Taco, Blocky, Woody, and Spongy.
  • In the stinger, Golf Ball shouts "This is so unfair!" when she complains about not being able to participate in this episode's contest. This is a reference to Pin saying the same line after being recovered without her arms in "It's a Monster".
  • Fries telling Tennis Ball that Golf Ball and Firey probably being underground references Get Digging.
  • This is the first time that Puffball Speaker Box appeared without Puffball.
  • When talking to Puffball Speaker Box about a recovery center, Nickel reuses part of Coiny's movement animation from BFDIA 5e.
  • Puffball Speaker Box saying "Wow, I look so fashionable!" (at 16:44) has a similar melody to a slew of Puffball's lines, specifically "Don't call me Puffy, but I'm not going to slap you, cause I'm nice." from BFDIA 3, "How do you know that this isn't a shortcut?" from BFDIA 5e and multiple occurrences of Puffball screaming in BFDIA 6 as well as BFB 15. However, this might just be a coincidence.

Cultural references[]

  • When Book talks about the metal gears, the Tomodachi Life selection sound plays.
    • A similar sound from the same game plays when Pencil talks about the gears as she is wearing them as earrings shortly after.
  • Firey saying that he's no longer friends with Tennis Ball, but with Rocky, could be a reference to the "Friendship ended with Mudasir" meme, a meme originating from a Pakistani government official.
  • The "Box of cows" slice from the prize wheel may be a call-back to Cow Box, a contestant from the object camp "Barely Involves Any Stress" that was played by Michael.
  • One of the prizes on the prize wheel is "The Meatball Man", an obvious reference to the Meatball Man from the video "Little Runmo", created by Gooseworx.
  • The episode's challenge is heavily based on Nintendo's video game series, Splatoon. Where in the challenge, the team has to cover the area with their respective team's paint color with the variety of gadgets and weapons to choose from. Just like said game, the team that covers the most painted area wins the game.
    • Interestingly, this episode shares identical title proportions with "Lofty", whose episode challenge was also based on a Nintendo game, namely Balloon Fight.
    • Oddly enough, when considering the time this episode is set, Splatoon was not released yet.
  • The recommended characters Brainstorm and Green Needle next to each other are a nod to the internet debate over a toy from the Ben 10 franchise.
  • One of the challenges on the challenge wheel was to "Mine & Craft", an obvious reference to Minecraft.
  • During the stinger, the channel profile picture during the end screen and Fries' hand covering up Golf Ball may be a reference to the Monsters, Inc. film franchise, where Mike Wazowski is prone to being obscured when on camera.
  • Ruby refers to the pink paint that has filled Tennis Ball's invention as the healthcare product "Pepto-Bismol".
  • After the scene where the pink paint fills up Tennis Ball's invention, Ruby looks down from the edge and says, "That's not good." This scene (along with Ruby's reaction) may be a possible reference to the fourth episode of the object show Object Insanity, which features a similar scene in which the character Glass throws a boat off a cliff, followed by the character Tree looking down and repeating a similar line.
  • Ice Cube repeatedly shouting "Left!" and "Right!" while Book pulls the Eiffel Tower in said directions may be a reference to the 1996 film Twister and the 2004 film The Polar Express, in which similar instances had occurred.

Deaths[]

  • Ruby shatters when she kicks Book.
  • Bomby exploded six times after being repeatedly thrown onto the Eiffel Tower.
  • Tennis Ball, Fries, Ruby, and Pencil all fell to their deaths.

Goofs[]

  • Fries' voice is strangely higher-pitched and faster in the beginning of the video.
  • Fries' arm-shaking animation is stuck on the first frame at 8:59.
  • The layering on Ink Bottle is incorrect, as they go behind Lucky 7-Ball's name card.
  • The top of Wheelchairy's asset is cut off and pasted besides them.
  • At 14:14, the GO button text on the French HPRC is a different font to when it is shown at a different angle in the next scene.
    • The letter Q is also a different font during these scenes. The W in only one scene.
    • The text on the GO button is also bolder during the mentioned scene, and also during the recovery-kill gag.
  • When Fries takes off the mirror off the car to give it to Tennis Ball, it reappears again when they drive in the same direction.
    • During the dodging pattern, the mirror is shown on the car but the next scene, it disappears after it ends.
  • BBQ Sauce's special label pattern and shape are reduced to just a plain square while rolling.
  • At 16:33, Spongy and Nickel appear to be standing slightly above the top of the Eiffel Tower.
  • Puffball Speaker Box is seen on top of the Eiffel Tower, but when she inspects the Eiffel Tower, her POV is changed to show the entire Eiffel Tower.
  • Despite dying during the challenge, Fries was still shown during the stinger in Yoyleland, where no one there could have recovered him. The next episode would also show him as dead and needing to be recovered for the challenge.
