Mushroom clouds are a running gag in Battle for Dream Island. They are usually seen when something or someone explodes as an expanding black cloud of dust and debris, first seen in "Barriers and Pitfalls" when Flower's Announcer Crusher explodes after nearly crushing the Announcer.
Appearance[]
Mushroom clouds in BFDI, like in real life, are composed of two main parts: the head (found in .fla files as "Shillouette cloud" and the stem (found in .fla files as "Shillouette stream". They also have a less prominent dust cloud at the bottom. In "Barriers and Pitfalls", the mushroom clouds are shown to be made of Announcer Crusher particles, and in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 3", they are made out of glass shards from the challenge. On both instances, the debris pop Bubble.
Effects on characters and surroundings[]
Mushroom clouds are often seen with a single character flying away from the explosion's epicentre (specifically Flower and Loser).
Trivia[]
- Mushroom clouds are only seen in some explosions. Sometimes, they are absent, like in "Zeeky Boogy Doog" when Bomby explodes and destroys Team No-Name's Dream Island.
- In some instances, an explosion is completely removed, showing only the aftermath, like in "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset "when Bomby explodes.
- Mushroom clouds are very similar to mushroom clouds seen in warfare, such as the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki or the nuclear test of Bikini Atoll.
