Episodes suggesting a conflict[]
In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4", Tennis Ball and Golf Ball plan to collect anti-poison from the queen bug at the Bug Hive. Needle and the FreeSmarters try to stop them. Near the end of the contest, Needle throws a bug at Tennis Ball which poisons him.
In "Start the Shift", Needle rejects Tennis Ball's Quasi-Rhombi pact along with everyone else's efforts to team with her and picks Fries instead.
In "Airplanes in the Night Sky" After Golf Ball reveals Tennis Ball had the least dislikes, Needle nervously looks off to the side. When Tennis Ball is contemplating which team to disband he jokingly refers to FriesMart as an iconic dynamic duo, which Needle asks if he's serious, with him replying he isn't and promptly disbands W.O.A.H. Bunch. After FriesMart disbands Tennis Ball is considering teaming with Needle, however, after Fries recommends not doing so (after being stabbed by her) Tennis Ball decides against it. Later in the episode, Needle gets annoyed after Tennis Ball deactivates her beacon. After a brief montage of the remaining contestants turning off each others beacon's and turning their own back on, Tennis Ball suggests to everyone that they agree to not turn off each others lights, with Needle awkwardly looking at him. Needle then says she'll have to be faster then everyone else, presumably rejecting his offer. After Tennis Ball locks his switch into place, he tapes together all the switches, including Needle's. As Needle is running towards the watch tower, Tennis Ball tells her to stop and points out how they are the only two contestants who aren't saboteurs, and suggest they work together. Needle rebukes that claim and points out how he tried to shut off her beacon, Tennis Ball then calls himself cordial and kind hearted most of the time, afterwards, Needle rejects him and tells him how she's playing for herself from now on. After Tennis Ball is knocked away he audibly groans and takes Gelatins Zap Shooter and shoots at Needle with its grapple mode, causing her to be stuck in the grapples rope, which Tennis Ball then promptly throws at the light house, causing Needle to call him a villain, which he apologies for in a long winded speech. Later when Needle arrives in the watch tower, Tennis Ball gets startled and frantically runs out of the tower while apologizing repeatedly. When everyone is rushing towards the last beacon, Needle asks for help, and Tennis Ball accidently steps over her, apologizing for it. After getting up, she then grapples him, accidently also knocking herself off. After Pin betrays Coiny, Needle, alongside Tennis Ball, fall into the forest.
In "Welcome Back", Needle tries to stop him and Golf Ball from entering the Science Museum.
Neutral interactions[]
In "Take the Plunge: Part 2", Needle listens to Tennis Ball's reasoning on why they should let Flower on their team, though she doesn't like the idea.
In "Lots of Mud", Needle gets attracted by Tennis Ball's magnet, dropping the keys she had earlier, in the process and prompting Fries to pick them up.
In "Respect to the Wicked", Needle likes the idea of sticking with Tennis Ball for the challenge, but apologetically ditches him when Pencil reminds her of her obligations to FreeSmart.
In "Oneirophobe's Nightmare", Needle and Tennis Ball are looking for Barf Bag. Tennis Ball tells Needle that Barf Bag has been missing since she was recovered. Later, near the end of the contest, Needle gets recovered by Tennis Ball.
Episodes suggesting a friendship[]
In "Spore Day", they are put into a trio together with Bomby. They work together throughout the episode.
In "Start the Shift", Needle, still trapped in the cave, races to escape Evil Leafy's pursuit. As she runs, Evil Leafy relentlessly follows, closing in on her. Meanwhile, on the surface, Tennis Ball is using a metal detector to track Needle's location. Back in the cave, Needle realizes she’s reached a dead end, unable to escape as Evil Leafy draws closer. Just as Evil Leafy is about to act, Needle suddenly feels herself being lifted into the air. She’s thrust upward, emerging from the ground. It turns out, Tennis Ball had used a magnet to attract her metal. Needle thanks Tennis Ball for saving her, but Tennis Ball reveals that he needed her to create a makeshift bike. He scolds Needle, calling her foolish, before adding Needle to the bike. Needle later says to Fries that she thinks it would be nice to work with TB, but doesn't know if she can.
