Nickel is a male contestant in Battle for Dream Island Again, IDFB, Battle for BFDI, and Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two.

In Battle for Dream Island, Nickel was one of the 30 recommended characters that had a chance to join the show in "The Reveal". The votes for the debut were revealed in "Reveal Novum" and he only received 43 votes, which was not enough to join, placing 3rd to join, just behind Bomby and David.

In Battle for Dream Island Again, Nickel joined the season with 892 votes, being placed 2nd to join the season. Nickel competed on Team No-Name until "Get in the Van", when he switched to W.O.A.H. Bunch. However, in "Taste the Sweetness" he then switched to The Beautiful Face Devotion Institute, and switched back to W.O.A.H. Bunch in "Lots of Mud". In "PointyPointyPointy ♫", he teamed up in a duo with Tennis Ball, and in "Spore Day", he teamed up in a trio with Book and Pin, named The Stars. In "Respect to the Wicked" and "Start the Shift", he competes by himself on a solo team due to being kicked out of W.O.A.H. Bunch by Pin. Nickel was eliminated in "Airplanes in the Night Sky" with 14,893 votes, placing 7th overall.

In IDFB, Nickel is currently free due to not being eliminated before "Intruder Alert".

In Battle for BFDI, Nickel competed on Beep until the split in "The Escape from Four" where he left the show to compete on Two's show.

In Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two, Nickel competed on Just Not until "Oneirophobe's Nightmare" where he was eliminated with 14,392 votes, originally placing 28th overall. However, due to Liy and Pencil joining TPOT in "Category One", he ended up placing in 30th overall.

Appearance[]

Nickel appears to be an American five cent coin. His main body is gray/silver, and his shading is slate. His design until "Getting Teardrop to Talk" was a gray recolor of Coiny's asset.

Changes[]

Personality[]

BFDIA[]

Nickel is generally a pessimist, as stated by Pin, while also being one of the more rational and levelheaded characters in the season. He more often than not has a bored expression whenever onscreen. In post hiatus BFDIA, Nickel seems to be much more happy-go-lucky than he was previously, perhaps his more modern personality seeping into the writing of his character. However, he only says one of his iconic nonsensical phrases in "Well Rested", so it seems as if he hasn't gotten accustomed to doing this frequently yet.

BFB[]

Nickel seems to be far more erratic than in previous seasons, sometimes spouting nonsensical sayings and phrases. He also cannot easily tell when someone's being sarcastic. However, Nickel becomes more cynical and unamused after "This Episode Is About Basketball", believing that they won't be able to win challenges and is less friendly and excitable than he was previously. Despite this, he can still be shown having fun, such as when telling Woody to "tongue it" in "Return of the Rocket Ship".

TPOT[]

Nickel retains his happier personality, even returning to his erratic phrases, though he can still get easily frustrated when pushed, like when dealing with the Singing Narrator in "The Great Goikian Bake-Off". He wants to do well in challenges and doesn’t like when others ignore teamwork or act irrationally, like Pillow often does. Despite that, he’s capable of trust and teamwork when things are going well, and when they’re not, he isn’t afraid to speak up.

Official Character Guide biography[]

Nickel is a worrier and doesn't often believe in himself. He often suggests giving up, and he is always complaining about how hard things are. Interestingly, he was once the exact opposite, always saying "I just know I'M going to win!" He once believed he would become "the new Coiny", but that dream has since faded.

Due to economic inflation, Nickel is currently worth six cents, and he is forecasted to hit seven in just a few years.

You Don't Say! Nickel has a way with words! Some of his favorites are:

  • Dab it, my boyonocerus!
  • Oobily goobily weezer beezers!
  • Holy roly poly crawling in my guacamole!

Abilities[]

  • Money Explosion: If Nickel is too close to Coiny, not only will a black vortex appear in the middle of them, but the vortex will also eventually blast coins and dollars up into the air. This happened in "The Long-lost Yoyle City", where Pin pushed him into Coiny, causing them to create a money-blasting portal.
  • Blinding/Burning Light via Teeth: Although (presumably) only available with Tennis Ball's brushing, in "PointyPointyPointy ♫", Nickel's teeth were so shiny that he could burn Bob-Omb just by smiling at him.
  • Pain Tolerance: In "Spore Day" and "Respect to the Wicked", Fries punches a large hole in Nickel. This doesn't affect him at all, apart from possibly slowing his reflexes.
  • Electricity Manipulation: After being caught in a thunderstorm during “Respect to the Wicked”, Nickel was able to effortlessly manipulate static electricity through Bundle O’ Balloons. Using this power, he can unleash lighting strikes that are powerful enough to reduce Tennis Ball’s tungsten steel-reinforced Obelisk to rubble.
  • Speaking to Bugs: In "Start the Shift", Nickel was walking up a staircase with Tennis Ball, and stopped to talk bug-ese to a bug and bring it to him.

Nickel in Battle for Dream Island. His arms were prosthetic arms which he doesn't wear anymore because of reasons.

In "A Leg Up in the Race", he is named Quarter and was recommended by BlockyCuzco. He can be seen burning in the stinger.

In "Half a Loaf Is Better Than None", Nickel runs into a vat of hydrochloric acid to get the Announcer's marbles.

In "Vomitaco", a picture of Nickel appears when the Announcer reveals that the cake is a bunch of nickels.

In "Bowling, Now with Explosions!", he holds a sign that says: "To do list: Kick Blocky Cuzco's Nickel!!" He is then trapped in a metal box that sets on fire in the stinger.

In his joining audition in "The Reveal", he says, with an uncharacteristically deeper voice, that he is the "New Coiny" and holds a sign saying, "To do list: Replace Coiny".

In "Reveal Novum", when there are only 15 recommended characters remaining, Nickel boasts that they're going to win. However, he only gets the third most votes to join and is sent to the LOL.

In "Return of the Hang Glider", Nickel watches the final Cake at Stake.

Battle for Dream Island Again[]

Nickel in BFDIA 1

Nickel's Smile Screen.

In "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know", Nickel is confirmed to join BFDIA, getting 892 votes, the second most votes out of all the contestants, only exceeded by Rocky (with 1,008 votes). Nickel originally goes with the new contestants, but shortly afterward switches to the team with season 1 competitors. In the screen montage, Nickel's favorite screen is a happy face. He also tells Pin to switch teams, and she does end up switching. His team of 19 easily beats the other team in the tug of war challenge.

In "Get Digging", numerous clones of Nickel laugh at W.O.A.H. Bunch as they walk to Cake at Stake. When Match asks if her bowl is big enough for the contest, Nickel replies "Nowhere near, but mine is!", but his bowl is still too small, and an even bigger bowl designed by Golf Ball is used instead. Later, Nickel digs underground after Fries demands him to find the ingredients underground.

In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 3", Nickel's team lost the last episode, so they all walk to Cake at Stake. After seeing the multiple Coinies, Pins, and Teardrops, Nickel asks "Where are these guys coming from? This is getting out of control!"

Nickel doesn't receive the prize, however, he is not eliminated either, as he gets the 10th slice of cake. After Dora is eliminated, they do the next challenge, in which they have to destroy the most bugs. Nickel comes up with an idea to use Bomby to kill the bugs. Gelatin and Firey agree and go with Nickel's plan. Firey ignites Bomby, Bomby explodes, and they win the challenge.

Nickel in BFDIA 4

In "Zeeky Boogy Doog", Nickel is first seen when Puffball Speaker Box asks him to get Gelatin, Book, Tennis Ball, and Firey off of the Eiffel Tower. He declares it to be too long and far away up, so Pin gets them off the tower instead. Nickel tells Pin to stop shaking the tower because all four of them already fell off the tower and Pin is shaking it for no reason.

Nickel later asks Gelatin if he has more anti-poison, which Gelatin answers by telling him that he only has enough anti-poison to revive one person. Nickel tells him that Teardrop should be revived since she has to spin the prize wheel. Gelatin gives him the syringe with anti-poison and he uses it on Teardrop, who later eats him. Later in the episode, Nickel is revived with the brand new recovery center, thanks to Gelatin. Nickel then revives Yellow Face.

During the challenge, Nickel participates in Golf Ball's plan. He says a few minor things throughout the challenge portion, but in the end, they lose when Coiny throws Bomby in the incinerator, and Nickel is put up for elimination along with everyone on Team No-Name.

In "Get in the Van", Nickel is recovered by Leafy and Bubble. Nickel's team faces Cake at Stake once again. When Firey Speaker Box tells Team No-Name that the cake is Donut's corpse chopped in pieces for everyone, Nickel comments on how it is "kind of gross". The Speaker Box says that Donut was recovered, but Nickel informs the Speaker that he meant the cake was gross, not the fact that Donut is dead. Firey Speaker Box scolds Nickel for not being thankful. Nickel, however, is safe from elimination, only getting 145 dislikes, which is the 3rd least of everybody. He receives a piece of Donut's corpse.

Once the elimination is over, Pin asks Nickel to join W.O.A.H. Bunch, but Nickel points out that Coiny is on her team. Coiny then tells Pin that if he and Nickel get close together, "bad things happen". Pin disregards this and forces Nickel onto her team. When the race to Yoyleland begins, Coiny realizes they're the only team walking, and Nickel asks what else they could do. Nickel also notices that the other two teams are way ahead of them.

In "No More Snow!", after his team reaches the Evil Forest, still just on foot, Nickel says they should probably give up. Pin tells him to stop being pessimistic. Later, they get out of the snow and Nickel happily yells the episode title. His team then falls into the Evil Canyon. Nickel tells Spongy to let them use his body to survive the spikes, saying he'd die either way.

Thanks to Coiny, they get to use Spongy's body to save themselves. Nickel then calls Needle "Needy" in order to get slapped out of the canyon. Realizing there was no way to save Needle, Nickel suggests killing and recovering her when they catch up to FreeSmart, which they do. However, once they catch up with what's left of FreeSmart, they learn the HPRC was crushed. The Firey Speaker Box arrives and gives them an HPHPRCC, which they must crank in order to make a HPRC. After hearing how long it could take, Nickel sarcastically responds "Oh great, how fun. I've been reduced to a cranking slave." In the stinger, Nickel tells Match to put out the fire on her head since they're in a forest.

In "It's a Monster", Nickel spends most of the beginning arguing with Match while cranking the HPHPRCC. When they learn that it will either self-destruct or disappear, Nickel says he's feeling lazy and will take his chances. Luckily it disappears. He also celebrates when FreeSmart leaves after they recover their teammates. Later, Nickel tells the team that simply walking to Yoyle Mountain will take a very long time. The rest of the team agrees and decides to threaten Puffball into flying them there, but this plan results in Nickel and his team getting frozen and left behind.

In "The Long-lost Yoyle City", Pin pushes Nickel into Coiny. The scene between them starts to morph, and the characters around them become extremely distorted in appearance, and money begins to shoot out of a portal. During the race to Yoyle Mountain, Nickel doesn't say anything or do much besides cooperating in the contest, which they place 2nd in.

Nickel in BFDIA 6

Nickel sleeping in bed.

In "Well Rested", Nickel continues falling with everyone from the summit of Yoyle Mountain. Nickel and Bomby play a prank on Book and Coiny before they eventually hit the ground. For the challenge, the contestants must find a building to sleep in. Nickel assumes that since they're the largest team, they deserve the largest building. Nickel leads his team to an abandoned Aerospace Manufacturing Plant, which he claims is the largest building in Yoyle City.

However, as they are all about to fall asleep, a cloud forms inside the building, due to it being large enough to sustain weather systems. Luckily the team uses a dehumidifier to shrink the cloud. Unfortunately, the FreeSmart Supervan crashes into it, and eventually starts turning it, because of the weight. Everyone tries to pull it back in place, but their efforts fail. Both teams now are on opposite ends of the balanced dehumidifier and start fighting. Evil Leafy eventually appears to their location and puts both teams at a stalemate on the dehumidifier (which is now dunking each team as Evil Leafy teleports to them). Ice Cube gets her team the win, and W.O.A.H. Bunch is put up for elimination.

In "Intruder Alert", it's revealed that Nickel and Coiny were taken by Firey Speaker Box and placed next to each other to create a money portal. They are later both brought back to their team via a magnet. When Bomby's color changes to purple as his prize, Nickel calls him a cute little Yoyleberry, though Bomby doesn't like this name. He is revealed to be one of the first two safe shortly after, cheering as he receives his cake. During the challenge, he asks Spongy and Needle what to do, and likes the latter's idea of using material from the plant to create a chamber.

Once they get rid of the water in the plant, Nickel leads the team on making the chamber, telling them to add dangerous things such as handcuffs, crushers, chainsaws and pictures of Flower's face. He says he wants the chamber to be as brutal as possible since Firey Speaker Box wanted it to be secure. However, he is then asked by Spongy on what if he was eliminated. Nickel thinks of the torture if that was to happen, but decides he would have deserved the punishment if he got eliminated and orders them to double the crushers.

In the episode's stinger, all of W.O.A.H. Bunch eat some red chili peppers, but since they previously drank Bomby's gunpowder fluid, with Nickel explicitly saying the combination doesn't feel good, they all explode.

In "Meaty", Nickel and the rest of the team are recovered via the Eiffel Tower's Hand Powered Recovery Center. When he sees Yellow Face push Bomby off the tower, he begins to scold him, but upon seeing the explosion is helping them in the challenge, he changes to complimenting him. He later asks Puffball Speaker Box on if there was a recovery center and if he could use it to recover Bomby. He tries to, but isn't strong enough to crank it, so he works together with Spongy to recover Bomby, which they do many times as he's repeatedly thrown off the tower.

When Book and Ice Cube bend the tower to cover it in pink paint, some of the contestants get painted in pink, Nickel included. Despite W.O.A.H. Bunch covering most of the tower in purple paint, Puffball Speaker Box sees it as yellow due to her sunglasses and believes the team didn't get any of their color's paint on the tower. Nickel argues, saying that there's purple paint right in front of her eyes, further annoyed when PBSB just responds with how they don't have eyes. W.O.A.H. Bunch is put up for elimination.

Nickel in BFDIA 9

Pink Nickel and Pink Needle.

In "Catch These Hands", Nickel is first seen trying to scrub off his pink paint, angry that it won't come off, though does see the appeal after looking at "Strawberry Milk Cube." He's knocked over by Ruby who wants to try tasting the strawberry milk, and when she finds out it it doesn't taste like it, Nickel explains it's paint and tells her brain to rest in peace before walking off.

When the elimination starts, Puffball Speaker Box is confused at the new Cake At Stake intro and asks who Lewis is, to which Nickel simply responds, "lottery winner." Needle is scared about being eliminated and asks Nickel how he handles it, but he's also scared. Yellow Face has a printer which prints Win Tokens, though Nickel doesn't know what they are. After Needle explains it to him, he excitedly asks Yellow Face for a token, but gets declined, partly for being pink.

Later, Needle suggests to Nickel that they could get a Win Token from Yellow Face, but Nickel says the "bigot" wouldn't lend them any. The two of them are revealed to be safe next, to which Nickel is relieved they didn't need tokens. He triumphantly says he won't be corroding and wishes Spongy the best before flying off in a paper plane.

After the elimination, a paint thinning machine ordered by Nickel arrives, and he and everyone else uses it to remove their pink paint. He wonders who shipped it since he ordered it from Yellow Face's store, even though Yellow Face just died. He thanks Bomby for volunteering to go in the trash compactor since he was panicking he'd be first. Nickel's able to guess Bomby's charade of a sweater, but because he guessed this, he and Bomby swap places. Realizing what just happened, Nickel starts yelling, though no one on the outside can hear him.

He gestures Evil Leafy by angrily stepping back and forth, and Spongy guesses correctly, releasing Nickel who is happy to be out. He laughs with the rest of his team about all their impressions, up until he's brought back in and has the charade prompt of "Nonexisty." Nickel, not even knowing what he looks like, tries to channel his inner nonexistent self and does nothing. The rest of the team doesn't understand this, even thinking Nickel didn't understand the game, and eventually Nickel is crushed by the compactor.

Nickel later appears in Hell, coming in with Pin and Fries, asking if Pencil if they know what's going on. He thinks Pencil also not knowing is "sorrowful news" and then tries warning her about the high combustion level. Pencil doesn't understand this at first, but does after she catches on fire, and the two congratulate themselves on their clear communication. He later explains to Pin in verbose that they all got sent to Hell by being crushed by the trash compactors.

Nickel in BFDIA 10

In "Taste the Sweetness", Nickel and rest of the contestants still in Hell are seen swimming through the lava in attempt to escape, before they are recovered by the HPRC in Yoyleland. All of W.O.A.H. Bunch's members switch to Ice Cube's team due to her beautiful face, with Nickel encouraging Pin to switch by reciting his first line in the season "Pin, you should switch!" When Puffball Speaker Box asks what the team's name is, Nickel and Coiny both start saying (in verbose) how they joined due to Icy's face. Since they're next to each other, a distortion is seen while this happens. During the challenge, Nickel is assigned the role of marketing, along with Needle and Pencil.

While going to the top of the roof, he asks Needle why she brought the bowl of Ice Cube's remains. He agrees with Pencil to making the sign as flashy as possible but is suspicious with her calling him "American 5-cent Denomination" (the name to which he was referred to in Hell, which no one seemingly had any memory of). Needle just passes this off as Nickel having two names because he's adopted. He is later seen drawing posters and putting them on the wall (albeit all over each other) and on Fries' dead body from "Meaty."

When Pencil gets the crowd to chant, Nickel tells them to make it a remix. After getting no response from this other than an angry look from Pencil, he changes the request to a dubstep remix, which happens. Despite their efforts, The Beautiful Face Devotion Institute lose the challenge and are up for elimination.

In "Lots of Mud", Nickel says he's fine walking to the elimination area as long as no one heckles him, which ends up happening as thousands of Fries clones laugh at the losing team. When Pin receives her prize for being safe, it hits Nickel instead, who is then worried about being in the bottom five. He is then revealed to be safe. When it's the bottom 2 between Ice Cube and Spongy, the screen cuts to FreeSmart hoping Ice Cube is safe, and then cuts to Nickel, who initially says he's not Spongy's ally before halfheartedly hoping Spongy's safe.

After the elimination, most of TBFDI leaves Ice Cube's team for her ugly face, with Nickel thinking her open aperture was gross. The open aperture ends up being part of the full name of the reformed W.O.A.H. Bunch. When Fries returns and asks what he missed, Nickel tells him Spongy was eliminated and that the teams are back.

When Flower announces her challenge, Nickel calls her "Daisy" and protests, saying they choose challenges by spinning a wheel. This grants him a slap from Needle for calling her Daisy and also as a way for him to stop angering Flower. After Flower throws the keys to her petals in the lake, Nickel quickly dives down there, being the only one on the team (besides Pin) without a snorkel. Because of this, he starts drowning, stopped by Bomby lending him his own snorkel. Nickel then tastes some of the fish food being poured down the snorkel by Vegemite and Black & White Cookie, disgusted by how the "air" tastes. Nickel returns the snorkel to Bomby once he starts to drown, but ends up on the verge of drowning himself again later. He and Bomby try sharing one snorkel and both breathing through it, but this doesn't work and they both drown.

Tennis Ball in BFDIA 12

Nickel raising his foot for the token.

In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4", Nickel lies to Ruby about liking Freesmart to avoid getting chosen to be reduced in size by the shrink ray. During team switching, he begs Freesmart to pick him to join their team during team switching, but Pencil rejects him and chooses Needle instead. When the bugs become the host, Bomby is able to understand them. Nickel was surprised by this, saying he didn't know Bomby spoke Buggese, but seconds later a bunch of bugs crawled into his mouth and start speaking for him. Bomby tells him Buggese isn't hard and that he's picking it up so fast. Bomby spins the wheel to choose the next contest, which landed on Bug-filled Dodgeball Insanity, and Nickel spits out the bugs and says he loves that game.

The bugs in question head in Book's direction, killing her. Nickel asks how they win, and Needle responds saying that the last team alive will be up for elimination. As Tennis Ball is showing Fries a picture of the latter and Jack in the woods together, Nickel walks by and makes a Jack and Jelly Fries joke, to which Fries laughs at. Chaos erupts in the clothing store, so Nickel hides in Tennis ball's recovery centre and uses Pin's point to gain access. Tennis Ball gets mad at at this, however, and sucks up all of the bugs using the fumigator backpack and unleashes them into the recovery center. Screams from inside the recovery centre can be heard, until he eventually dies, becoming the second person to do so. His team ends up losing the challenge, and is up for elimination.

In "Well, Look Who It Is!", Nickel is recovered by Ruby, but accidentally stabbed by Pin's point. Ruby asks if they should also recover Yellow Face, but Nickel reminds her that he's eliminated. Ruby adds that he's dead, so they agree to recover him anyway. Upon recovery, the BFDIA contestants take turns carrying him to the WTF, and laugh at the eliminated contestants for losing before departing.

Nickel in BFDIA 13

Nickel getting stabbed by Pin's point.

On their way back, they come across a loop-de-loop, so they wear the Super-Stick Shoes So-Ha that Tennis Ball refurbished. Nickel comments that the loop-de-loop is scary and isn't sure if he can do it. Fries reassures him that it's easy before demonstrating. Fries eaches the top, but all of his fries fall out, so he quickly goes to the bottom and catches them safely. Nickel compliments his save and follows in his footsteps.

In "PointyPointyPointy ♫," everyone is gathered for Cake at Stake. When the bugs speak in their language, Nickel can't understand them, so Golf Ball uses her Yoyle-straw to translate Buggese into English. Nickel is amazed as the bugs start talking in English, but he is soon hushed by Poison Bottle, leaving him puzzled since they were the ones who bought tickets to watch the event.

During the likes announcement, it's revealed that Pin received the most, earning her the prize of regaining her face and size, along with a State-of-the-Art Mech Suit. As Pin levitates and transforms back to her nearly normal self, WOAH Bunch, including Nickel, start chanting, "Pin shall rise!" followed by "Return of the WOAH!" Pin is thrilled to have her face and size restored, though she briefly thinks her face might be on the wrong side. Nickel sarcastically remarks that perhaps Pin can get her brain back too. Bomby then presses a button to adjust Pin's face so it faces the rest of the group, and the WOAH Bunchers celebrate her triumphant return.

In the dislikes segment, Nickel finds himself in the bottom four alongside Bomby, Fries and Golf Ball. The bugs reveal that the lead in dislikes switched between them multiple times and that each of them received at least 10,000 dislikes. The bugs label them as "repulsive dislike magnets," which bothers Fries, who points out the irony of being called repulsive. Nickel, in contrast, says he wouldn't describe his hosts as repulsive. Nickel is eventually announced as safe with 10,749 dislikes and receives a poisoned instrument, noting that "kindness wins again."

Nickel with Tennis Ball in BFDIA 14

Nickel hugging Tennis Ball.

For the next challenge, the contestants are instructed to form pairs. With Golf Ball eliminated, Tennis Ball is uncertain about who to team up with. Nickel steps up and offers to be his partner, pointing out that they share the same shape and limbs. Although Tennis Ball is hesitant, he eventually agrees. Nickel then hugs Tennis Ball with his legs and says he feels so appreciated right now.

The BFDIA contestants are transported by the LOLers to the base of the spiral for the challenge. Taco explains that the teams must navigate through five different islands, each featuring its own mini-contest, before reaching the bunk bed at the top to win immunity. Bottle adds that the last duo to do so will be sleep-deprived and put up for elimination. Nickel notices this means only two people will face elimination, highlighting how unusually small that number is, but they proceed with the contest anyway.

As everyone heads towards the first island, Tennis Ball becomes anxious about falling behind and starts aggressively shaking Nickel. Nickel tells him to stop, noting that he's not surprised by Tennis Ball’s concern since they are the only ones without arms. Suddenly, Tennis Ball has an idea and spits into a jar, claiming he's invented "metal-to-fuzz-glue." He applies it to himself and then attaches Nickel to him. Nickel asks what he's doing, and Tennis Ball explains that by combining their efforts, they now have four limbs. Nickel cheers, and with their newfound advantage, Tennis Ball quickly climbs the vines leading to the first island.

Upon arriving at the first island, Tennis Ball constructs an oil rig designed to extract as much cherry filling as possible, which they plan to use for their jetpack to advance to the next island. Nickel gives Tennis Ball a high five but feels guilty for not knowing how to contribute. Tennis Ball suggests that Nickel could help by using the Yoyle-straw to suck the pollution out of the air. Nickel tries this, but it makes him cough. Just then, the oil rig completes its extraction of the cherry filling, and the duo gets ready to move on to the next island. Donut points out that they are now in first place and congratulates them on the win.

Nickel in BFDIA 14

On the next island, Nickel comments on the picturesque setting and notices a bucketload of anti-poison. Tennis Ball inquires about who is hosting the island, and just then, Dora appears. Dora advises them to take a pillow, which confuses Nickel, who questions how Dora can host an island when she usually eats them. Tennis Ball quickly tries to hush him, but it’s too late. Dora realizes there’s an island right in front of her and attempts to eat it, but is unable to because she’s in the LOL. Nickel jokes that she must have the munchies.

Dora sighs and announces the challenge: contestants must eat a detectable island to advance. Nickel expresses his dislike for the sound of that challenge. At that moment, Bomby and Fries arrive. Nickel asks Fries about Bomby, and Fries explains that Bomby is experiencing a sugar crash.

Tennis Ball attempts several times to feed Nickel parts of the island but is unsuccessful. Nickel then suggests that Tennis Ball should eat an island, but Tennis Ball explains that he can’t because he’s allergic to minerals, according to his doctor. Instead, Tennis Ball decides to cook and season the island to make it more appetizing for Nickel. Although Nickel hesitates, he eventually tries it but immediately spits it out due to the terrible chemically aftertaste. Tennis Ball insists that Nickel should just stomach it, forcing the island into Nickel’s mouth while stating that vegetables are good for him and that grass is technically a vegetable.

Suddenly, Needle and a deceased Pencil, approach the island. Needle quickly uses the anti-poison to bring Pencil back to life, and Pencil immediately starts eating an island as soon as she recovers. Nickel recognizes this as a side effect of the anti-poison, which Needle finds unusual.

Tennis Ball continues trying to feed Nickel an island, but Nickel spits it out, complaining about the bad taste. Tennis Ball suggests that the taste might be due to the gunk in Nickel's mouth and begins brushing his teeth. After a while, Nickel asks if Tennis Ball is still brushing, to which Tennis Ball responds that he’s only 2% of the way there.

Evil Leafy then arrives, prompting Nickel to urgently ask if his teeth are clean yet. Tennis Ball replies that they are almost clean and expresses frustration with the brush not being fast enough. At that moment, Toilet Brush falls, inspiring Tennis Ball to use it for quicker cleaning. The plan proves effective, and Nickel's teeth are soon much cleaner. Tennis Ball then feeds Nickel the island just before Evil Leafy starts chasing them. The duo rushes to the gate and uses the waterfall to advance before it’s too late.

When Nickel and Tennis Ball arrive at Teardrop's island, Tennis Ball is immediately squashed to death by Bomby and Fries, forcing Nickel to go back and recover him. Tennis Ball warns Bomby and Fries not to kill him again, so Fries, respecting his wishes, kills Nickel instead. Tennis Ball then has to recover Nickel.

The duo grab onto Bomby and Fries, and they soar toward Match's island, but Bomby, annoyed, throws them off. They plummet toward the beginning, but Tennis Ball's bounciness sends them back to Teardrop's island. Nickel jokingly calls him "jiggle boy," but Tennis Ball tells him not to call him that.

On the fourth island, Teardrop directs Nickel and Tennis Ball to her cousin Blood-drop, who is being annoyed by Bob-Omb. Nickel concludes that she wants them to quiet Bob-Omb, and Teardrop confirms. The duo approach Bob-Omb and Blooddrop, and Nickel gives them a bright smile, blinding Bob-Omb and causing them to disintegrate.

Nickel and Tennis Ball's safe icon

Blood-drop expresses gratitude and rewards them with wings, which they use to ascend to the next island. Once there, they quickly start building. Nickel asks Tennis Ball if he's sad about Golf Ball being gone. Tennis Ball admits that he is but notes that her absence gives him more space to focus on improving his building skills. With their raft complete, they ride it up the volcano and head towards Puffball's island. Nickel picks up a bedtime story and steps onto the platform to perform his lullaby. Tennis Ball, eager to help, begins singing too, but Nickel slaps him with his foot, frustrated that his singing wasn't lullaby-like. Despite this, their combined efforts send the other contestants to sleep, so Puffball lets them advance. The platform lifts them to the bunk beds, and Nickel lets Tennis Ball get in first, saying he earned it. Tennis Ball cheers, dedicating the moment to Golf Ball before getting into bed, securing their immunity and becoming the first duo to do so.

In "Spore Day", Nickel is first seen reminding Book and Ruby that they are up for elimination, and has Tennis Ball change Ruby's icon whenever one of her sisters appear in her place. He is given the teardrop cake along with the other seven safe contestants at Cake at Stake. At the beginning of the challenge, Nickel attempts to fit inside the birdhouse to look inside it, but is unable to and is taunted by Firey Jr. for it.

Nickel initially plans to team with his fellow W.O.A.H. Bunch members, but is told off by Pin due to three members already being on the corresponding mats. He then teams up with Tennis Ball and Fries, but is divided from them and put on The Stars with Pin and Book. After Book wanders off to talk with her fellow FreeSmart members, Nickel brings her back over to The Stars. His team decides to steal the shrink ray from The Hearts, but as Pin and Book argue on how they don't want to steal from their friends, Nickel suggests stealing it from Fries, which they agree to. Nickel walks over, and Fries punches a square hole into him offscreen.

After learning the whereabouts of one of the shrink rays from an illustration of Golf Ball in Book's pages, Nickel climbs the tree it is located at, but drops the shrink ray when Amethyst collides with him as she falls. Nickel falls onto the tree stem, which gets stuck in his hole, but gets freed when he is accidentally shrunk and snaps the top of the tree. While observing a water droplet, Tennis Ball sucks up the water in a dropper and deposits it onto Nickel, putting him inside the droplet. He tries to get Book's attention so he can be regrown, but fails to do so.

As more contestants get shrunk to his size, Nickel swims away from lead paint that came off the birdhouse, and he believes its interior can protect them from it. He ends up swimming towards the birdhouse and gets poisoned, but is revived by Tennis Ball's antidote. As everyone passes the blame for the shrinkage on each other, Fries tries to use him to prevent himself from getting shrunk further, only for a shrink laser to pass through Nickel's hole and hit him.

Videoshot 20241006 201439

Nickel is shrunk further by Pencil, and gets caught up in a fight that leads to everyone getting shrunk down to an atomic size. As The Hearts remove lead protons and hit opponents with them, Needle tries to block the hit but a proton passes through Nickel's hole, and Nickel himself is poisoned by all of The Hearts throwing several lead protons at him. He is put up for elimination.

In "Respect to the Wicked," the BFDIA contestants play around with atoms inside the birdhouse, until two of them collide, triggering a massive explosion. The water droplet they were in is launched onto the window of the Locker of Losers (LOL) and eventually lands in Balloony's eye.

Later, dust enters Balloony's eye, causing it to turn red. As he begins to close his eye, the contestants inside panic. Nickel urges Tennis Ball to construct reinforcements to protect them, and while he quickly complies, the structure only holds for a few seconds before collapsing. Balloony's eye closes completely, crushing everyone inside. However, Balloony promptly recovers them all, bringing them back to life.

Upon being recovered, Nickel notices that his square hole has vanished, leaving him visibly upset. Fries offers to help and carves a triangle into Nickel's face instead, prompting Nickel to retaliate by biting him, grumbling that it wasn't a square. Later, during the elimination, the contestants assemble, and Nickel is revealed to be the fourth safe with 13,297 dislikes. As his prize, he receives a single grain of rice. When Bomby is ultimately eliminated, Nickel waves him goodbye as he’s launched to the Weak Trembling Fortress (WTF).

The remaining contestants are brought to the grasslands, where all teams formed in the previous episode disband. Coiny rallies all W.O.A.H. Bunch members to regroup, but when Nickel joins, Pin immediately tells him to leave. Nickel, undeterred, asks if anyone else wants to join his team, but everyone gradually backs away, leaving him to form a team on his own.

With the teams now established, the contestants are instructed to spin the wheel to determine the next challenge. Nickel steps forward to spin, and the wheel lands on "Scavenger Tag." Balloony explains that each team must first select a prized possession to protect. Nickel chooses the small chunk that fell from his face, expressing his hope that it never gets lost. Fries, surprised, questions why that’s Nickel's most prized possession. Nickel replies that it’s all he has left.

Nickel turns to Fries, asking what his trinket is. Fries casually pulls out a balloon, much to Nickel's surprise. Balloony then instructs the contestants to hide their prized possessions from the other teams while ensuring no one else can come into contact with them. The last team to keep their trinket untouched will win immunity. Without hesitation, all teams scatter to hide their possessions and quickly return, marking the start of the challenge.

The contestants soon spot the FreeSmart Supervan, poorly concealed behind a tree, and rush to tag it. In a frenzy, Book and Pencil toss the van between each other to keep it out of reach. As the others close in, they finally give up and drive away, narrowly escaping. Nickel is briefly shown lying on a blanket atop the van, enjoying the ride, but his attention is suddenly drawn to Fries’ balloon floating high in the air.

Acting swiftly, Nickel leaps from the moving van and soars toward the balloon, attempting to grab it. However, he misses and plummets toward the ground. Determined, Nickel resumes his chase and eventually bites onto the balloon's string, securing it. As he descends, he inadvertently floats into a cluster of more balloons. The balloons get tangled and tied to him through his triangle hole, leaving him suspended and drifting in the air.

Nickel in BFDIA 16

As Nickel slowly drifts through the air, he reflects on his solitude, feeling a strange sense of peace despite his sadness and isolation. However, his tranquil moment is interrupted as he floats into dark storm clouds. Later, amidst a surge of lightning and thunder, Nickel drifts back toward the rest of the contestants. Using the storm to his advantage, he manages to tag Fries’ trinket, eliminating him from the challenge. With only Tennis Ball left, Nickel turns his attention to the final trinket.

Tennis Ball reveals his elaborate protective layer surrounding his obelisk. He has reinforced it with tungsten, struts, limestone, and tempered glass, confident that it is virtually indestructible. However, Nickel uses the power of the storm and his balloons to strike the obelisk with relentless lightning. The protective layer crumbles, and the obelisk itself is obliterated into rubble.

Tennis Ball, furious, protests that the challenge was to tag the obelisk, not destroy it, so Nickel nonchalantly jumps down, tags the pile of rubble, and declares victory. Balloony confirms Nickel’s win, granting him immunity. As a result, all other contestants are up for elimination.

In "Start the Shift", Tennis Ball devises a makeshift bike using Nickel, Fries, Needle, Pin, and Coiny's lifeless body as components to ride to Yoyleland and recover Book, Coiny, and Pencil. Although the bike initially works, it crashes en route, though the contestants survive the impact.

Just then, Balloony arrives with plans to kick off the next Cake at Stake. However, Pencil openly criticizes him, calling him annoying. Her sentiment is echoed by the other contestants, with Nickel loudly declaring Balloony's presence completely unnecessary. Sensing a shared disdain for Balloony, the BFDIA contestants unite in their decision to get rid of him.

In their plan, they recover Spongy and hurl him high into the air. As Spongy begins his rapid descent, Balloony panics upon realizing he's directly in Spongy's path, right above the Locker of Losers (LOL). Balloony attempts to dodge, but Spongy lands squarely on the LOL's fan, getting gruesomely shredded in the process.

Realizing he's no longer wanted, Balloony leaves solemnly, taking the rest of the LOLers with him and effectively ending his tenure as host. The new host is revealed to be Firey, joined by the other eliminated contestants. During the W.O.A.H. Bunch reunion between Nickel, Bomby, Coiny, and Pin, the atmosphere is noticeably tense. Unlike the warm and joyous embraces shared by other teams, their reunion is marked by awkward silence and sidelong glances, with none of them appearing particularly happy to see one another.

As the Cake at Stake segment begins, Ice Cube asks who won the previous challenge. Nickel proudly announces that he did, prompting Ice Cube to laugh in disbelief before asking again, thinking he must be joking. Tennis Ball confirms Nickel's victory, leaving Ice Cube thoroughly baffled. Gelatin is equally confused, questioning how the contestants allowed Nickel, of all people, to win. Bomby, unbothered by the skepticism, happily tosses a slice of cake toward Nickel as his prize. Nickel eagerly devours the cake, savoring the moment.

After Cake at Stake, the remaining contestants advance to the final seven. During the team-switching phase, a massive argument erupts over who should have Needle on their team, as everyone fiercely competes for her to join them. Nickel, following the crowd, eagerly joins the fray, insisting that Needle should be on his team as well. The disagreement quickly escalates into a chaotic and heated altercation, with contestants yelling and trying to outdo one another. Overwhelmed by the commotion, Needle shocks everyone by snapping and making an unexpected decision—she chooses to team up with Fries, leaving the others stunned and silenced.

The contestants gather around the wheel to determine their next challenge. The wheel lands on "Be your truest self". Golf Ball steps forward to explain that this contest requires all participants to restore their original appearances, as many have undergone significant changes throughout the competition. A scanner will evaluate each contestant, and for a team to be deemed safe, every member must successfully pass the scanner's approval.

Before Golf Ball can finish explaining, Nickel interrupts with a question. He asks what would happen if someone already likes their current appearance. Golf Ball responds curtly, stating that such a person would win, before asking Nickel if he actually likes his appearance. Nickel replies that he doesn't, calling himself hideous and pointing out the large, triangle-shaped hole in his face. Golf Ball, unimpressed, sarcastically thanks him for making such a big deal out of it. She then brushes him off and officially starts the contest.

Nickel in BFDIA 17

As the contest begins, Book laments being the sole representative of FreeSmart, pointing out that she feels she's the furthest from her original appearance compared to the other contestants. Nickel steps in, skeptically asking if she's sure about that before redirecting her attention to Fries, who had just been splattered to death moments earlier. Book tells Nickel that it isn’t a competition, only for Nickel to remind her that it literally is, given they're in the middle of one. Book states that she's so disheveled she would need a superstore's worth of makeovers to even come close to restoring her original appearance.  As she finishes her complaint, Book conveniently spots a nearby superstore. Without missing a beat, she promptly leaves to pursue a much-needed makeover.

Realizing that Tennis Ball still has the chunk that fills the hole in his face, Nickel decides to approach him. He greets him abruptly, but his sudden appearance startles Tennis Ball, who reflexively kicks him away. Shaking it off, Nickel asks what’s going on. Clearly frustrated, Tennis Ball vents about the stubborn cake stuck in his fuzz, complaining that it won’t come off no matter how hard he scrubs. Nickel empathizes, mentioning that he’s been through the same struggle, and suggests Tennis Ball try taking a shower.

Annoyed, Tennis Ball asks why Nickel is even here. Nickel explains that he needs something from him and tries to grab the chunk still taped to Tennis Ball’s back from the previous episode. However, Tennis Ball keeps moving around, making it nearly impossible for Nickel to retrieve it. Nickel, exasperated, tells Tennis Ball to hold still, explaining that he needs the chunk to pass the challenge. Skeptical, Tennis Ball asks why he should cooperate since they’re not even on the same team. Nickel offers a deal, suggesting Tennis Ball scratch his back while Nickel helps with the cake residue problem.

To strengthen his proposal, Nickel presents a Yoylite straw he had found in the auditorium, suggesting its potential to remove the cake residue from Tennis Ball's fuzz. However, Tennis Ball quickly snatches the straw before Nickel can demonstrate its use. Tennis Ball cautiously handles the item, fully aware of the catastrophic effects Yoylite could cause if mishandled. Nickel, seemingly indifferent to the risks, casually dismisses the warnings, treating the straw as an ordinary tool. Tennis Ball’s frustration grows as he struggles to convey the gravity of the situation, emphasizing Yoylite’s extraordinary, reality-altering properties and the recklessness of Nickel’s dismissive attitude.

Just then, Fries comes back to life, his eerie blue hue a clear sign of the regenerative properties in the underground algae he consumed. This prompts Tennis Ball to wonder if combining these properties with the energy of the Yoylite could restore his own appearance. He removes one of Fries' fries and begins experimenting with fusing the algae's regenerative effects with the Yoylite's reality-bending energy. Nickel, observing closely, cheers Tennis Ball on but reminds him about returning his chunk, still taped to his back. Tennis Ball, however, ignores this and remains focused on his work.

After completing his invention, Tennis Ball excitedly presents it to Fries, Needle, and Nickel, explaining how he combined the algae's time-altering regenerative properties with the Yoylite's energy to create a device capable of reversing the effects of the cake splatter. Confident in its success, he uses the machine on himself, restoring his original appearance and celebrating his triumph.

As Tennis Ball prepares to head to the scanner to finish the job, Nickel interrupts, demanding his chunk back. Without warning, Nickel leaps onto Tennis Ball, startling him and causing him to stumble. Tennis Ball asks Nickel what he's doing and tries to shake him off, but Nickel refuses to let go, clinging tightly and insisting that he needs his chunk.

In the ensuing struggle, both fall backward onto Tennis Ball's machine. Realizing the disastrous consequences of the situation, Tennis Ball panics, urgently warning that the mishap could destroy the fabric of reality itself. Before he can stop it, the machine activates, and both Nickel and Tennis Ball are suddenly transported through time, landing in the future.

Nickel and Tennis Ball inn 2017.

Nickel and Tennis Ball in the future.

Nickel and Tennis Ball find themselves unexpectedly teleported to 2017, during the events of "Getting Teardrop to Talk". Tennis Ball, still disoriented, asks where they are, and Nickel makes a joke about the situation while also expressing curiosity about their new location. Noticing the futuristic architecture, Tennis Ball figures out that they have traveled three years into the future. Nickel finds it cool but quickly shifts his focus back to his missing chunk.

The scene then cuts to reveal Nickel's chunk resting on top of a towering fork sculpture. Tennis Ball, however, dismisses it as a secondary concern, emphasizing their priority: returning to the present. He warns Nickel that if anyone discovers their presence, chaos could erupt. At that moment, future Donut appears and asks if Tennis Ball and Nickel have always been there. Tennis Ball, nervous, quickly denies it, suggesting that Donut must be imagining things. Meanwhile, Nickel begins scaling the fork sculpture to retrieve his chunk. Tennis Ball urgently pleads with him to come down, warning that their actions might disrupt the timeline, but Nickel ignores the warning and continues his climb.

After retrieving his chunk and restoring his original appearance, Nickel leaps down from the fork sculpture, landing directly on Tennis Ball's machine. Tennis Ball quickly reassures Donut and Bottle that what they just witnessed should be completely ignored. Before either of them can respond, Tennis Ball and Nickel activate the machine, teleporting away.

Next, the duo are teleported to 2021, during the events of "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?". They materialize in the kitchen of the hotel. Nickel, taking in the surroundings, comments on how nice the setting looks. Tennis Ball asks if this is really a kitchen before pointing out that they’re not supposed to be there either way.

Tennis Ball suggests that they quietly exit before anyone notices. However, before they can make their escape, Nickel’s chunk is knocked out of his possession when Needle is shoved into the wall by Team8s. The chunk bounces down the hallway and heads upstairs. Nickel expresses frustration over the loss of his chunk, and Tennis Ball threatens to leave without him. Nickel, however, reminds Tennis Ball that leaving him in the wrong time period could wreak havoc on the timeline. Realizing Nickel’s point, Tennis Ball reluctantly agrees to chase after the chunk.

As they run down the hallway, they pass an elevator where Just Not is stuck inside. The future version of Nickel calls out to Rubber Spatula for help. Rubber Spatula responds, saying they'd do anything for their best mate, Nickel. Confused, Nickel asks Rubber Spatula who they are, while Tennis Ball, trailing behind, tells Rubber Spatula not to pay attention to anything they've just seen.

Eventually, Nickel manages to catch up to his chunk and retrieves it, allowing Tennis Ball to activate the machine again. This time, they're teleported to 2024, during the events of "Category One". Tennis Ball groans in frustration, annoyed at the series of wrong time periods they keep landing in. Nickel hesitates, taking in the surroundings. He notes that the location seems similar to their previous stop, but with some key differences—there’s a giant hole in the wall, a massive thunderstorm, and a disturbing number of bugs.

Still annoyed, Tennis Ball comments that at least they can leave without causing any disruptions. Nickel, however, questions why they should leave so quickly. He suggests that, since there’s a storm, he could just control it like he did last time. Tennis Ball warns him not to try, reminding him that it would only end with him losing his chunk again. Nickel dismisses the concern and confidently tells the storm to disperse. However, Tennis Ball is unexpectedly struck by lightning moments later.

Struck by lightning

"OUCH!" The Yoylite then gets caught by the high speed winds.

The shock causes the Yoylite to detach from the machine, getting blown upwards into the wind. Knowing that they can't leave without it, Tennis Ball is seen visibly upset. Nickel casually remarks that it's a real shame, but adds that the place isn't so bad. Determined to retrieve the Yoylite, Tennis Ball suggests heading to the roof to get it without drawing attention. He asks Nickel if he thinks they can manage, to which Nickel bluntly responds with a no. Tennis Ball shrugs him off, and the two set off in pursuit of the Yoylite.

As Tennis Ball and Nickel dash down the hallway, they encounter Kitchen Sink. Tennis Ball quickly warns Nickel not to engage, but Nickel ignores him and asks Kitchen Sink who they are. Kitchen Sink simply responds, "It's me, Kitchen Sink!" but Nickel, unfazed, calls him a bathroom sink. Tennis Ball, frustrated, drags Nickel away, repeating his plea to avoid making contact. The pair resumes their race up the stairs, panting from the effort. Meanwhile, Nickel starts speaking in Buggese, attracting a bug. He greets it with excitement, but Tennis Ball urges him to focus and hurry. Nickel finally shifts his attention back to the mission, and together, they continue climbing the stairs.

After a long climb, the duo finally reaches the roof and retrieves the Yoylite. Tennis Ball, determined to create a rift back to the correct time period, watches as Nickel draws a circle on the wall. Tennis Ball initially warns him not to touch the Yoylite, but after a moment of realization that Nickel’s actions were right, he relents and compliments him for his efforts.

Nickel, sensing the growing storm, insists that they need to leave quickly. Tennis Ball, understanding the urgency, agrees. The two jump through the rift, landing safely back in 2015. Once settled, Nickel reflects on the chaos the Yoylite has caused and decides it’s time to part with it. Tennis Ball protests, reminding Nickel that the Yoylite belongs to him, but before Tennis Ball can stop him, Nickel throws it back through the rift. The Yoylite disappears into 2024 just before the rift closes. Nickel admits that letting go was difficult but stands by the decision, believing it was for the best.

Tennis Ball collapses to his knees in disbelief. The weight of the loss sinks in as he struggles to process what just happened. Nickel, sensing the tension but unwilling to address it, mentions that now that he has his chunk back, it's time for him to head off and scan himself. He waves goodbye and walks away, leaving Tennis Ball alone to wrestle with the sudden, unexpected loss of the Yoylite.

Nickel sprints toward the scanner, desperate to get there before Needle and Fries. He reaches the platform first, eager to be scanned, but just as the scanner begins to activate, Needle kicks him off and places Fries, now possessed by Evil Leafy, onto the scanner instead. The scanner, however, rejects Fries. Moments later, Tennis Ball arrives, running full speed toward the scanner, intent on scanning himself and winning the challenge. Nickel greets him, but in the rush, Tennis Ball trips over him and crashes into Fries, causing a massive explosion.

Nickel quickly apologizes for the mishap, but Golf Ball, furious, scolds everyone for mishandling the Yoylite. She laments that they may never encounter another sample and demands to know what they were thinking. Just then, Coiny and Pin arrive, and Nickel can be seen in the background, still trying to approach the scanner.

As Coiny and Pin question Golf Ball about the Yoylite, Nickel finally steps onto the platform, just seconds away from completing the challenge. But before he can finish, Coiny shoves him aside, causing Nickel to lose his chunk. Coiny places Pin on the scanner and uses his own limbs as a replacement for hers, ensuring the scanner approves her. As expected, the scanner grants Pin approval, making her and Coiny safe from elimination. With the challenge officially over, everyone else, including Nickel, is put up for elimination.

In "Airplanes in the Night Sky", Nickel and the other contestants gather for Cake at Stake. For the likes, Tennis Ball is revealed to have received the most, with Nickel coming in second. Nickel admits that he thought he had a chance at winning, but Tennis Ball remarks that maybe he would have, if he hadn’t nearly caused the world to end. Nickel laughs off the comment, pointing out that the world didn’t end, but Tennis Ball counters that it very well could have.

Nickel in BFDIA 18

As Cake at Stake progresses, Nickel finds himself in the bottom two alongside Needle. He gulps, trying to stay hopeful about his chances of survival. However, when he asks if anyone agrees, an awkward silence follows. Pin then remarks that the fact that Nickel even made it this far is a miracle in itself.

Ultimately, Nickel is eliminated with 14,893 dislikes, much to his disappointment. He sighs, admitting that he should've seen this coming, to which Tennis Ball bluntly agrees. Nickel claims that he knows it will be really hard for everyone to see him go, but he wants them all to win for him. Tennis Ball points out that they can't all win, but Nickel insists regardless. Before departing, he wishes everyone luck and tosses his triangle chunk to Tennis Ball. Though Tennis Ball tries to reject it, the chunk ultimately lands in his mouth.

Following this, the contestants agree to relocate for the next challenge. Gelatin, Firey, Ice Cube, Pencil, and Ruby all leave the Weak Trembling Fortress (WTF) to go host. Golf Ball protests that eliminated contestants aren’t allowed to leave the WTF as she complains about the unfairness of the situation. Seeing this, Nickel decides to stay behind, stating that he’ll “endure the torment” with her. Bomby, Yellow Face, and Rocky also opt to remain. Golf Ball briefly considers defecting, but before she can act, the contestants, along with half the WTFers, make their swift departure, leaving the others behind.

IDFB[]

In "Welcome Back", he talks to Pin and notices that she lost her color. He says that her losing her color is like him losing his color, but she is confused as Nickel has always been grey. Pin then explains to Nickel how Golf Ball took her color and used it to give her a new set of limbs, and Nickel isn't seen for the rest of the episode.

Battle for BFDI[]

Nickel in BFB 1

Nickel in Battle for BFDI

In "Getting Teardrop to Talk", Leafy asks Nickel, Cloudy, Gaty, and 8-Ball if they want to be friends with her. Nickel quickly agrees to this. He is also surprised when Cloudy reveals that he has thirty-seven favorite numbers. When picking the teams, Leafy picks Nickel, along with Woody, Cloudy, and Rocky to be on hers as she believes they need assistance. When deciding on the team name, he agrees that the team name, which was just a bunch of whispering until it was called Beep, was perfect. When Cloudy is trying to bring the basket to X, Nickel points out that there's a big distance between the two.

In "Lick Your Way to Freedom", he becomes worried after being told that Four won't like that Roboty is missing. After told about Roboty's disappearance Nickel blurts out the phrase " oobly goobly Weezer beezers!". Nickel gets back to licking the jawbreaker until he notices Rocky doesn't have a job yet. After Balloony makes him vomit all over the jawbreaker, claiming that the "salt and vinegar" will speed up the process, Nickel is hesitant to lick it again and is fine with his job being changed. His new job is to get Woody to scream so he can reveal his tongue so Leafy can grab it to lick the jawbreaker. Woody later screams again upon seeing Roboty get crushed. Leafy thinks Nickel made this happen, but he says it wasn't him. However, Woody's tongue quickly goes back into his mouth and Nickel struggles to get him to scream again. Beep loses the challenge, but Four says that the "voters aren't safe". Relieved that they aren't last to finish, Nickel tells Woody to dab. Their celebration ends once Four and X tell them that it was a joke and one of them would be eliminated next episode. In the episode's stinger, Nickel tells David to stop licking the jawbreaker as they've already lost. Unfortunately, doing this leaves Taco stuck in the jawbreaker.

In "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset", after hearing Four singing, Nickel states that Cake at Stake is starting. He is then slapped by him because he said it wrong. When Balloony is being confronted by Four about knowing about EXIT, Nickel asks how many votes they got as a distraction. Nickel is the second safe and receives an earth as a prize. Because of this, he believes he is worth six cents. When Leafy, David, and Roboty are in the bottom three, he says it's down to nature, man, and machine. He thinks the team could do without the machine before being asked by Cloudy what a man is. Nickel refers to David as a man, much to Cloudy's disgust. During the challenge, the tactic that Free Food uses surprises him.

In "Today's Very Special Episode", Nickel notices that the cake they're making for Four is made out of Rocky's vomit. He says that it's gross, but he's actually referring to the cake and how it had no sprinkles, which he adds. They place 4th.

Nickel in BFB 5

In "Fortunate Ben", during the challenge, Nickel is drawing and nearly loses his paper. When the plane starts malfunctioning, Balloony makes a fake compliment on David's piloting, but Nickel doesn't get that it's sarcasm until Cloudy tells him. When they start falling due to weight on the plane, it takes him a few seconds to realize that his teammates' worries that they're falling isn't sarcasm. Nickel suggests for them to aim the plane for the cliff to delay the impact, but is told by the others they'd be first to hit the ground and lose the challenge if they did. Despite their efforts, they end up hitting the cliff and are up for elimination.

In "Four Goes Too Far", Nickel is the second safe at Cake at Stake again and gets turned orange as a prize(Because of this, he looked like an armless Coiny). Upon hearing that David and Roboty are non-objects, he asks if Four is implying that he's just an object. Four thinks this is criticism and is about to zap him until A Better Name Than That multiply him using Donut and X, much to Nickel's relief. Nickel is one of the characters to get the Twinkle of Contagion but lose it quickly while the characters are arranged in the shape of a heart.

In "The Liar Ball You Don't Want", Nickel can be seen playing with the poppers with the other characters. He then looks at Loser, surprised that he lied. Nickel also leaves the Cake at Stake area when Donut tells everyone to clear the area.

Nickel during the contest in BFB 9

In "This Episode Is About Basketball", after seeing Puffball eat the cakes meant for Foldy and Bell, Nickel says for her to leave some for him. She throws up what's left of the cake, which is followed by him thanking her. During the challenge, Nickel thinks they should just give up after seeing Woody scared to throw the ball. When it's down to Beep and Death P.A.C.T. to finish the challenge and the members of Death P.A.C.T. start throwing balls, Nickel thinks they've lost. He is happy to see that Woody landed a ball in the basket, however, Beep still loses because Death P.A.C.T. threw multiple balls into their baskets, while Beep only threw one. Nickel is shocked to hear they had to throw more than one ball. Nickel is told by X to pay more attention to the challenge rules next time, but he says his rules were kind of hard to follow.

In "Enter the Exit", during Cake at Stake, X excitedly asks if Beep is sitting. Nickel monotonously replies with yes. He is the third safe. When it's between Rocky and David, X asks if they are scared, with Nickel replying that he is a little bored.

In "Get to the Top in 500 Steps", when Leafy rejoins the game, Nickel, along with the rest of Beep, back away from her.

In "What Do You Think of Roleplay?", Nickel attempts to scare Woody with a fork to figure out if he is the impostor or not. Balloony yells at him to not to stab Woody, to which Nickel replies he wasn't going to, but now they know he's real since he screamed in response. Balloony ignores this and still attempts to wrestle the fork from Nickel. They slip and the fork flies in the air and lands on Balloony, popping him. In response, "Rocky" exclaims that the popping was loud. Due to Rocky never talking, Nickel immediately points out Rocky as the impostor.

In "Return of the Rocket Ship", Nickel falls with the rest of Beep into the hole iance dug. Later, he agrees that Balloony is an airhead. When Woody's plan to use Rocky's acid to dig is successful, Nickel tells Woody to "tongue it".

Nickel in BFB 14

In "Don't Dig Straight Down", Nickel is glad that Rocky's vomit got them out of that dungeon and says it's just smooth sailing from here. Balloony disagrees with Nickel, and Nickel asks what he meant. He then realizes that they are about to land on Rocky's acid. Cloudy is scared that they will disintegrate, but Nickel does not know why he feels that way and points out he can fly, now that his bandages are gone. Cloudy realizes it and Nickel tells others to grab onto Cloudy.

Later, when Nickel sees Naily failing, he isn't concerned about her. Instead, he asks about the heat and notices the lava above them and tells Cloudy to turn around. When they are trapped, Cloudy says they need to get Rocky to barf more acid, to which Balloony replied that his stomach is empty. Nickel then jokingly suggests that Rocky needs a refill. Balloony misinterprets it and assumes Nickel volunteered to be eaten by Rocky. Nickel tries to correct Balloony, but gets eaten by Rocky anyway.

In "The Escape from Four", Nickel is recovered by Four. He is later seen walking with the other contestants to inspect Four as he struggles to suck up Spongy. Nickel leaves Four's show to join TPOT after seeing Two turn the sun into a spike ball to hit Four with.

Nickel in Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two

In "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?", when Two is atop the building, they tell Nickel to get everyone up for Cake at Stake, but Nickel can't hear them. When on the building, he asks them why they're doing Cake at Stake before being reminded about the debut. During the final three with Winner, Price Tag and Nonexisty, Nickel says he can only see two, to which Two takes as compliment to themself.

Before the team picking, he asks about how many teams there'll be. Book chooses Nickel onto her team since they both cranked the HPHPRCC in "It's a Monster", with the latter saying it sucked. Nickel's confident that their name will be good until it becomes Just Not. During the challenge, he follows his team into the elevator. On the way up, it gets stuck due to Snowball prying the doors open. Thanks to Snowball and Basketball, the elevator gets fixed and they end up being the fourth team to reach the top. He's later seen yelling at Two with other contestants for not projecting their voice.

In "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life", Nickel is first seen walking to the elevator to make use of their remaining free time before the intro. During the challenge, Nickel, Price Tag, and Cake suspect Tree of wanting to knock down their stack. He instead intends to steal their blocks, and does so with little resistance. The three then decide they should defend their stake in case someone else tries doing the same thing, but Price Tag ends leaving immediately afterwards. Later, Nickel, Cake, and Book discuss where most of their teammates went. When the challenge is almost over, Nickel and Cake attempt to defend their stack from Remote but she kicks it down. Bomby and Book manage to stack up six blocks just in time, so their team is safe.

In "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters", Pillow suggests they shred Book for the attraction, which Nickel agrees and states that he loves creating anagrams. Cake suggests that they use a pile of stuff, which confuses Nickel. Price Tag explains that Cake was talking about prizes people can get at the park, making Nickel realize and compliment the idea. He then tells his team to go to the hotel to find gadgets that could work for prizes. Inside the building, Bomby finds random items which he calls "garbage", which Nickel says to not call it that because it is amazing. Naily tells Nickel that Bomby told him it was literal garbage, which causes Nickel to tell her "Value is in the eye of the beholder, Naily!" Pillow asks if he's truly saying that, or if it's because he's a nickel, which Nickel responds that it's a bit of both. Nickel asks his team if they heard Two's announcement so they can hurry up and grab the garbage. Nickel's team gets a 3/10 for their attraction, for the prizes having a value.

In "Gardening Zero", Nickel meets up with some of his teammates and asks what they're doing. Pillow says she's teaching Cake and Book how to play Yoyle Chess. Nickel asks why they have to do it on top of the rollercoaster. Before Pillow can answer, she notices a car coming and grabs everyone and takes them to safety. Except for Nickel, who gets hit by the rollercoaster and is sent flying because he questioned the rules of Yoyle Chess. He lands next to Two, who uses him to purchase gum from a gumball machine. Nickel's team is sent to the desert for the challenge. Nickel interrupts his team as they are still playing Yoyle Chess instead of helping with keeping their Funny Plant alive. Everyone decides to split up and find water across the desert. Nickel finds Water Bottle inside a mobile home and pours some of their sparkling water on the plant. When everyone notices that Cake is still missing, Nickel becomes concerned as realizes that nobody told Cake to avoid the ancient Yellow Face skeleton. Cake ends up arriving back with water from said skeleton and pours it on the plant. The cursed water kills the plant, so Just Not is up for elimination.

Nickel in TPOT 5

In "Fishes and Dishes", Nickel is the 4th contestant safe in Cake at Stake with 2,970 votes. During the challenge, Cake suggests that they should dive into the canal by falling into it from a great distance. Nickel criticizes the idea as they have no scientists on their team or any way of getting up so high, and that all they have are some items from the canal. Pillow manipulates the definition of gravity and uses said items as an infinite staircase to fly, to Nickel’s shock. Nickel then tells his team to follow Pillow's lead.

Along the way, Puffball and Fries show up to interfere. Puffball bites onto Nickel and doesn't let go as Nickel begs for help. Pillow ignites Bomby and throws him at Puffball. Puffball let's go of Nickel to move out of the way, but the explosion causes Nickel to fall back to the ground, wishing his team luck on his way down. His team is safe when Pillow returns one of the plates to Two.

In "The Great Goikian Bake-Off", Nickel is seen playing a game of Goiky Dragon's with the rest of Just Not. He was given the role as the thief, but eventually ends up dying in the game with the rest of the team due to Pillow exploding Bomby. Nickel then shows frustration to Pillow, telling her that just because she is their fighter, doesn't mean she gets to overrule everyone else and that she should let Bomby play. Shortly after, it is shown that Just Not was small, and are playing the board game inside of Tree's head. He is then shaken out of Tree's head with the rest of Just Not. Golf Ball guesses that they want to return to regular size. Two spawns in and brings them back to regular size.

Nickel in TPOT 6

For the challenge, Nickel's team decides to slay a dragon and serve it to Two. In the beginning of the challenge, Nickel compliments how their team gets an own narrative singer to accompany them for their journey to slay the dragon. Much to Nickel's dismay the voice calls them brave heroes besides Nickel. Although as the challenge progresses even further, the team notices and gets tired of listening to the voice and going down unnecessary paths. Nickel asks why they are listening to the voice as it's just wasting their own time. Shortly after, Nickel starts to get angrier with the narrative singing voice and gives them a last chance as they go down the scarier path.

Eventually after a while, Nickel grows tired with the narrator singing after it tells them to jump on some spikes. He angrily shouts against it and tells them that the team are doing the journey their own way. Nickel asks Book to use her Goiky Map, and notices they are close to the dragon. The dragon suddenly shows up. Although the team was encouraged to fight it, Nickel stops Pillow from exploding Bomby with a match, and pushes her into the fire, giving her several burn marks. He then tells Bomby that he trusts him and allows Bomby to stop the dragon from choking. The team decides that Cake's remains and the chocolate ball is suitable enough for Two's dish. Two gives Just Not a 3/10. Despite the low score, Just Not is safe. In the stinger, Nickel gets zapped by X after attempting to steal their food.

In "The Seven Wonders of Goiky", Nickel's team decides to trade items with the other teams, hoping to end up with what they need to fix the rollercoaster. First, they trade a block for wires from The Strongest Team on Earth. Just Not then ends up at the Balance Beam, where they offer to trade the wires for Team8s' broken mirror. They leave behind the broken mirror for The S! and take their glass panel. They end up at the World's Largest Oven, where they trade the glass panel for Tree's decapitated body. They arrive at the canal to trade Tree's dead body to Teardrop in exchange for the Dream Island gates. Lastly, Just Not ends up with the "missing rollercoaster piece" after trading away the gates to Are You Okay. Due to it being rigged by Puffball and Golf Ball, it explodes and absolutely destroys the rollercoaster, leading to Just Not being up for elimination.

In "Balancing P.A.C.T.", Nickel is first seen at Cake at Stake where he is the third contestant safe with 5997 votes. During the challenge, Nickel is upset with the thought of possibly losing again and he asks his teammates for strategies. After Pillow gives her idea, Nickel is seen hanging upside down below the balance beam with the rest of his team except Pillow. Later, Needle tries to get Just Not off the Balance Beam, slapping Nickel. Bomby and Book attempt to fight off Needle but both fail. Price Tag and Nickel run away from Needle until Yellow Face comes to save them, Nickel thanks Yellow Face but when he says that he wasn't thinking of calling Yellow Face "heroic, strong and brilliant" he is thrown off the balance beam. Price Tag manages to stay on the balance beam so Just Not is safe.

In "Outbreak At Stake", Just Not runs off after Barf Bag and Pen turn into zombies, Nickel is later seen over video call inside Gelatin's Steakhouse but he struggles to communicate with Two due to the bad reception, because of this he asks Two to repeat the challenge since he didn't hear it the first time. While Two is explaining the challenge the connection is breaking up and Pillow interprets that the challenge is to kill her teammates making Book and Nickel back away from her. Later, when Book is negotiating with Just Not on how the challenge couldn't possibly be to kill each other, the lights go out and Nickel disappears. Later, Nickel calls Book over and tells her that the stress was just too much for him and that he found a bed that he could sleep on, as he lies down on the bed he grabs a pillow to rest his head on as he sleeps. Nickel gets frightened when he realized that he accidentally picked up his teammate Pillow, Pillow picks Nickel up and slams his face into the bed frame multiple times, killing him. Nickel remains dead for the rest of the episode and Just Not loses the challenge, leaving Nickel to be up for elimination.

Nickel in TPOT 10

In "Oneirophobe's Nightmare", Nickel is recovered along with the rest of Just Not, in which he tells Pillow to stay back. He then argues with the group of contestants. After that, he goes to Cake at Stake. He continues to be angry at Pillow before she is revealed safe, saying that he hopes it's her that leaves. Once it's revealed that he's in the bottom two, he panics, asking why he's not safe when Pillow is. He's eliminated with 14,392 votes, and before leaving, he starts the intro. He then states he was the last Beep representative, and to get Pillow out, as he is sent away, placing 28th.

Trivia[]

Comparisons[]

  • Nickel is one of the few contestants who are a form of currency, the others are Coiny and Ruby.
    • He is also the only currency character who's armless and has a name that doesn't end in y.
  • Nickel is one of the four contestants who received a change in limbs after already debuting as a potential contestant (in Nickel's case, he lost his arms in BFDIA 1). The other three are Tree, Fanny, and Lightning.
    • He is also the only non-Death P.A.C.T. Again member to do this, and is the only one who didn’t start out limbless, and also the only one not to go to the LOL in Battle for dream island again.
  • Nickel, Saw, and Grassy are the only characters whose body assets had a significant overhaul in BFB.
  • Nickel and Bomby share a few similarities:
    • They were the two most voted recommended characters who failed to debut in BFDI 18.
    • They were the two most voted recommended characters to join BFDIA.
    • They were on the only two teams in BFB that lost three times, Team Ice Cube! and Beep.
    • They both competed on 5 teams and were together in 4 of them.
    • They were eliminated back to back in TPOT.
    • In "Don't Dig Straight Down", they were the only contestants whose deaths weren’t caused by getting completely scorched in lava. Although Bomby's fuse was exposed to the lava.
      • If this fact is considered, Nickel is the only contestant whose death during that episode had nothing to do with lava.
  • Nickel is the first character to have their inanimate counterparts be used for Cake at Stake (which was used in BFDI 15). The second was Salt Lamp, where their inanimate counterpart was used in the "How Loe Can You Grow?" Cake at Stake.
  • Nickel is one of the contestants who have canonically entered The Underworld in "Catch These Hands", along with Pencil, Fries, Spongy, Pin, Golf Ball, and Tennis Ball.
  • He is one out of two newbies whose voice actors weren't the Huang Twins or a Text To Speech, the other is Gelatin.
  • Nickel is one of few contestants to have a team named after them, along with Fries, Cloudy, Ice Cube, Loser and Teardrop, as well as the other members of Bleh.
  • He is the second BFDI contestant to have a hole in their face after Donut.

Competition[]

  • Nickel got into season two with the second-highest number of votes: 892. The only competitor to beat him was Rocky, with 1,008 votes.
    • This makes Nickel the most voted newbie to join BFDIA.
  • Nickel is the only armless contestant, with legs, who debuted competitively in BFDIA.
    • If Leafy, Bubble, and Flower had been present, Nickel would've been the only armless newbie in the season.
  • From BFDIA 11 and onwards, Nickel is the only armless character on W.O.A.H Bunch.
  • Nickel is one of the five contestants who've been the sole member of a team, along with Firey, Tennis Ball, Fries, and Teardrop.
  • As of "Respect to the Wicked", Nickel is the highest ranking recommended character on W.O.A.H. Bunch.
  • Nickel holds the record for most likes received in one episode without winning the prize at 53,053.
  • Nickel is the highest ranking contestant who didn't reach the merge in BFDIA.

  • Nickel and Cake are the only two contestants in BFB to receive the same number of votes at an elimination, with 826 votes each.
  • Nickel is the only member of Beep in TPOT who doesn't compete on The S!.
  • As of "Gardening Zero", Nickel has gone the longest out of the Beep contestants without getting voted off.
    • However, if Nickel gets eliminated before the finale in BFDIA, than Cloudy will have actually gone the longest, chronologically.
  • As of Rocky's elimination in "Balancing P.A.C.T.", Nickel is the highest-ranking Beep contestant in TPOT.
  • Nickel being eliminated in "Oneirophobe's Nightmare" makes team Beep completely dissolved.
  • Nickel, Pie, and Foldy are the only TPOT contestants who were voted off in episodes where only one character was eliminated, while there were still teams.
    • Unlike Pie and Foldy, they were eliminated before the two teams are up for voting twist was implemented, while Nickel was eliminated singularly in "Oneirophobe's Nightmare" due to Teardrop being instantly eliminated after the challenge was finished in "Outbreak At Stake".
  • Nickel is one of the five contestants who always compete on the worst performing teams in every season they're in. The others are Bomby, Woody, Spongy, and Naily.
    • W.O.A.H. Bunch and Team-No Name are tied for the most losses in BFDIA, at five each. The Beautiful Face Devotion Institute is also the only team in the entire series to never have a single win.
    • Beep had lost three times, being tied for the most losses in pre-split BFB (along with Team Ice Cube!).
    • Just Not was the only TPOT team that lost four times.
  • Nickel was the sixteenth contestant eliminated in both BFDIA and TPOT.
    • Coincidentally, he also quit BFB in the sixteenth episode, making the number 16 synonymous with all of his eliminations.
  • Every time Nickel has been eliminated by viewer voting, he has received 14000 votes, getting 14,392 in TPOT 10 and 14,893 in BFDIA 18. Both of these numbers also have 90 in them, both being followed by a prime number
  • Every episode Nickel has been eliminated in released in March.
  • Nickel is one of the five contestants who are consistently eliminated in every instance where they fall in the bottom two. The others are Match, Loser, Eraser, and Dora.

General[]

  • Nickel is similar to the character of the same name from the object show Inanimate Insanity, and both characters are voiced by Adam Katz.
    • In the BFDI universe, it is confirmed that Nickel is not the same character, but in the II universe, there are contradictions on if they are the same or not.[2]
  • Nickel's favorite screen, as seen in "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know", is a smiley face.
  • In "Get in the Van", Coiny said that when he and Nickel get close to each other, "bad things" happen. When Pin made Nickel stand next to Coiny, the area around them started to blur, proving that what Coiny stated was true.
    • As seen in "The Long-lost Yoyle City", when he and Coiny are near each other, a portal is formed and various coins and dollar bills explode out of the portal.
  • In "Welcome Back", he says that Pin lost her color just like him. This could mean that he used to be a coin and then lost his color to make him look like a nickel.
    • It could also be seen as a reference to how he said he would be the new Coiny.
  • In his debut, "The Reveal", Nickel has a different, sadistic, and much deeper voice.
  • He is the first character to have a line not spoken by either Michael or Cary Huang, as he is voiced by Adam Katz. This is also a reference to Nickel from Inanimate Insanity.
    • Nickel is voiced by Adam Katz, who also voices Nickel from Inanimate Insanity.
  • Nickel has been eaten by contestants twice, those being Teardrop and Rocky.
  • One of Nickel's catchphrases, that being 'Holy roly poly crawling in guacamole', is likely a reference to episode twelve of Inanimate Insanity, in which the subtitles say the exact same thing.
  • Satomi had confirmed that Nickel is one of her least favorite characters, and the reason Beep kept losing was because she hoped that he would get voted out. She then states that she regrets it and it won't happen again.[3][4]
    • Ironically, Nickel would end up becoming Satomi's favorite character for a brief time during TPOT 1's production before she later revealed her favorite being Saw again.[5]
    • Even more ironic, in Nickel's BFB asset, you can see handwritten text saying "Satomi is best girl".[6]
  • Despite being a five-cent coin, it is revealed that Nickel is actually worth six cents in "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset" and Battle for Dream Island: Official Character Guide.
    • The only accurate calculation between the two is the Official Character Guide, as US$0.06 in August 2019 (the month when the book was published) equals US$0.05 of buying power in February 2011 (Nickel's first appearance in BFDI is in "Half a Loaf Is Better Than None", which released February 1, 2011).
      • This would make Nickel worth US$0.07 as of December 2024.
  • Nickel is the first recommended character to be voiced by (one of) their recommender(s). The second is Pan Flute.
    • This almost happened with Marker, but was later scrapped.
  • Nickel is a relative of Yellow Face, according to a joke in "Well Rested" and "Taste the Sweetness".
  • Every contestant before "Oneirophobe's Nightmare" that was told "value is in the eye of the beholder" by Nickel was coincidentally eliminated in a later episode.
  • In "Well Rested" and "Taste the Sweetness", Needle says that Nickel is adopted, which proves that some objects actually have families as Nickel does have a mom and dad.
  • When in The Underworld, Nickel has a British accent despite his temporary name in The Underworld being "American 5-cent Denomination".
  • The date Nickel was made was 1954, as shown in The Underworld.
