Episodes suggesting a conflict[]
In "Start the Shift", Nickel, along with all the other BFDIA contestants still competing, are tired of Balloony and all the other LOLers (including Pillow)'s hosting, so they try to get rid of them by recovering Spongy and flinging him at the LOL to crush it.
In "Gardening Zero", Pillow lets Nickel get hit by Yellow Face with his rollercoaster car and says that it was because he questioned the laws of Yoyle Chess. Later, when Nickel calls out his team for playing Yoyle Chess instead of helping with the plant, Pillow says Yoyle Chess is fun and babysitting a plant isn’t fun.
In "Fishes and Dishes", Nickel gets tossed off the hotel by Pillow when he's safe in Cake at Stake. When Pillow suggests that they throw items repeatedly to fly into the sky, Nickel tells her to stop messing around, until he sees Pillow actually doing it.
In "The Great Goikian Bake-Off", Nickel gets angry at Pillow for not letting Bomby play and that she doesn't get to overrule everyone else. Pillow just covers his mouth and tells him to be quiet. During the challenge, when fighting the dragon, Pillow nearly blows up Bomby but Nickel stops her by putting her match out while burning her in the process.
In "Outbreak At Stake", when Nickel is getting ready to sleep, he unknowingly grabs Pillow, who looks angry. When he realizes this, Pillow slams him against the bed frame, killing him.
In "Oneirophobe's Nightmare", when Nickel is recovered, he blows his tongue at her and tells her to stay back, blaming her for the reason they lost, and continues to do so when everyone is arguing and during the elimination. He tells her he hopes she gets out when she goes over her research. Before he's eliminated, he blames Pillow more for him getting eliminated, pleading for his teammates to get her out.

In "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters", When Nickel tells Naily that value is in the eye of the beholder, Pillow asks if he truly means that or if he's only saying it because he's a nickel. Nickel answers that it's a bit of both in a defeated tone. Later, when Nickel tells his team to grab the garbage they collected and then Robot Flower, Pillow asks why he told them to grab the same thing twice.
In "Gardening Zero", Nickel asks Pillow what she is doing. Pillow says that she is teaching Cake and Book how play Yoyle Chess, and later asks why they are playing it on the dangerous rollercoaster from last episode.

In "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life", Nickel becomes concerned saying that Pillow has left their team for a long time. Later, when she wanders back to her team with Remote following her, Nickel warns her, saying she's been followed.
In "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters", Pillow suggests that they shred Book for their attraction. Nickel likes the idea, saying that he loves creating anagrams.
