Objects are various sentient items with limbs and/or faces in the Battle for Dream Island series and other object shows. They roam Goiky and are the dominant species. Objects are very social, as they make friends and enemies. Objects can be based on synthetic, organic, or refined items.
Objects are seemingly inclined to challenges and valor, often partaking in competitions, but only for prizes. They could also be referred to as "people".[1] even though they're not human.
Note that objects and items are extremely different—objects are alive, while items are inanimate. For example, Taco is alive, but the item known as a taco is inanimate.
The first usage of the term 'object' to describe the species of the Battle for Dream Island characters came from Sweet Tooth, in which Match addresses that objects have feelings except for Pin.
Objects appear to have a very long lifespan, as a book written by Golf Ball was made over a billion years ago. However, it is unknown if she was telling the truth about the book’s publication date.
Appearance[]
Objects are generally household items that are anthropomorphized. Some objects generally have two black feet that are semi-ovals with flat bottoms and some of them have two black hands that are generally black spheres, though they can grow fingers and retract them at any time given. Objects that have legs but no arms use their feet as hands, however, there's a chance that armless objects have feet that are secretly shaped like hands.(Just like how non-human primates have hand-shaped feet).
Objects also have black (sometimes white or different colors) eyes and mouths. The eyes are (usually) black (or white) ovals. Objects also have eyebrows, but they simply appear when needed, generally to convey their emotion to each other or the viewers.
Behavior[]
All objects in Battle for Dream Island are usually competitive and are very social. Some objects form groups called alliances that they become friends in. Objects all have eyes, mouths, often limbs, and the ability to speak (besides Teardrop). While most objects in the series are known to speak English, some characters speak other languages (e.g. Woody speaking an unnamed language).
Objects also exhibit physically behavior mimicking humans and other organic organisms, such as sweating, breathing, blushing, relieving themselves, hunger, crying, and vomiting.
Objects as a whole appear to be easily influenced, with many of them being willing to join competitions and alliances with very little incentive or explanation to the reward behind said prize.
Diet[]
Objects appear to consume many sweet things, such as cakes, gumdrops, and Yoyleberries (which likely have a sweet taste). Although sugary things appear to be the primary source of sustenance, objects appear to be omnivorous, being able to consume meat, fish, nuts, and fruit. However, it seems that at least some do not require food and water to survive.
Some objects appear to be able to consume each other, though doing such a thing is called out as cannibalism. For example, in "Happy Birthday, Battle for BFDI!", Bottle and everyone else ate Cake (the character). Notably, cannibalism in objects appears to take two different forms even though they are not differentiated. This would include cannibalism by an object consuming an item that is the same as the object the character is (such as Fries consuming fries in "The Reveal") or cannibalism by an object consuming another object (such as Ruby biting into part of Donut's body in "Get in the Van").
Non-objects[]
Some characters in Battle for Dream Island are similar to objects but are not true objects. They are called "non-objects". The following species are technically non-objects:
Trivia[]
- It is unknown if objects have organs, such as heart to pump blood.
- Objects may be able to produce waste or excrement, as Tennis Ball has mentioned the need to use a bathroom in "Are You Smarter Than a Snowball?"[2]
- According to Coiny in BFDIA 11, living objects would float in water, while dead ones sink. Coiny then tests this with Pin after she lost her face, and she sinks but eventually resurfaces, indicating she was alive.
- Flower canonically has a brain inside of her head as seen in BFB 18.
- This also shows objects can live without faces.
- Objects in BFDI walk around barefoot. This was proven when Flower wore Yellow Face's Non Slip Shoes which appear visible on her feet from the audience's point of view.
- In most circumstances, Objects immediately or slowly lose their limbs and face on death, either by them falling off or disappearing without a trace.
