Pencil's alliance is an alliance that originally consisted of Pencil, Match, Bubble, and Ice Cube (as a temporary substitute). However, Ruby and Book later joined the group with the former being an official member and the latter being an "alternate". In "Get in the Van", the alliance becomes a separate team named FreeSmart. Later, in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4", Needle joins the alliance as an "alternate's alternate" after Ice Cube is eliminated and Ruby's sisters take turns taking Ruby's place until "Spore Day".

Total Firey Island[]
In Total Firey Island, Ice Cube was one of the original members, but was cast out of the group after a disagreement.[1]
Battle for Dream Island[]
In "Take the Plunge: Part 1", Bubble told Pencil and Match that they should form an alliance. They agreed, but Pencil didn't let Ice Cube join when she wanted to.
In "Take the Plunge: Part 2", Pin picked Pencil to join her team instead of Leafy's team to keep Ice Cube, who was on Leafy's team, from joining the alliance. Pencil picked Match and Bubble because of the alliance.
In "Barriers and Pitfalls", the alliance was briefly separated after Pin assigned Pencil to find Blocky. The alliance rides in the same seat on the sky lift.
In "Bridge Crossing", when Bubble fell down, Pencil and Match jumped down shortly afterwards.
In "Power of Three", the whole alliance was a team of three. The alliance team gets third place.
In "Puzzling Mysteries", Coiny mentions the alliance when trying to decide which Squishy Cherries member should join the Squashy Grapes.
In "Don't Lose Your Marbles", the fact that the alliance stayed together for so long is mentioned.
In "Half a Loaf Is Better Than None", the alliance is finally broken by Match's elimination, but she is soon replaced by Ice Cube.
In "The Reveal", Pencil says Ice Cube is not in her alliance right now, because she picked Bubble to pair up with.
In "Reveal Novum", Pencil says that her alliance stays for another day, as Ice Cube is safe.
In "Rescission", Bubble tells Ice Cube that the alliance is too small, and Ice Cube wants "Needy" to join, being slapped shortly afterwards. Ice Cube says she is no longer in the alliance after Bubble considers giving immunity to her. The alliance is over for BFDI.
In "Return of the Hang Glider", the alliance members ask to enter Dream Island together.

In "Get Digging", Ruby joins the alliance after Pencil and Match invite her. Ruby intentionally hesitated because of the other alliance members, Bubble and Ice Cube, but after hearing the two's reasons why they are no longer in the alliance, she accepted it. Later, they talk about reviving Bubble with a bubble blower, but Ruby questions why reviving her is necessary, as Pencil and Match are doing fine even without her presence.
In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 3", the alliance didn't participate in the contest. Before Pencil and Match revive Bubble with the bubble blower, Ruby confesses that she acted weird because she fears that if Bubble is back in the alliance, she will be kicked out. Pencil and Match forgive her, and said she won't, as they will have an alliance of 4 members. After Bubble is revived and rejoins the alliance, she is surprised upon Ruby's presence and kicked her away because she thought that Ruby wasn't in her alliance. Ruby blames Pencil and Match for lying to her, which the two told her that Ruby is also in their alliance now, and asks why Bubble rejected her. Bubble didn't want Ruby to be in the alliance because Golf Ball said that an alliance of more than three members would split up. After Pencil tells her that Golf Ball was wrong, Bubble accepts Ruby. Ice Cube wants to join again, as well as Book, and they were accepted as alternates.
In "Zeeky Boogy Doog", Pencil says that she might have to expel Ruby from the alliance for recovering Flower, but this is quickly revealed to just be a joke.
In "Get in the Van", Pencil and Match have Ice Cube and Book kicked out of the Clubhouse of Awesomeness because they are just alternates. Later, Match is eliminated, but Pencil uses her elimination prevention plan to keep her in the game. The alliance becomes a separate team named FreeSmart, which includes both the alliance's members and the alternate ones.
In "The Long-lost Yoyle City", Match and Bubble are discovered by the Firey Speaker Box, and forcibly ejected from the game. Match is sent to the TLC, while Bubble is sent to an unknown location and is presumably killed.
In "Well Rested", Pencil starts treating Ice Cube as a more valuable member to FreeSmart.
In "Intruder Alert", Gelatin and Firey join FreeSmart to get Ruby's Yoylite. Despite the two being on the team, Pencil does not consider them a part of the alliance; they were only allowed on the team because Book wanted to be inclusive.
In "Meaty", Firey is eliminated and thus leaves the team.
In "Catch These Hands", Gelatin leaves FreeSmart. Later, Pencil accidentally brings back Bubble and the alliance rejoices. Unfortunately, PSB mistakes Ice Cube mentioning Bubble's name as her guess for the prompt, killing both Pencil and Bubble with the trash compactor.
In "Taste the Sweetness", Ruby, Ice Cube, Bomby and Needle consider making an alliance named "Taking Out the Trash". Ice Cube is happy to have other options when FreeSmart dissolves, but Ruby refuses, even going so far as to kill Ice Cube for not being loyal. At the team switch phase, Ice Cube shows off her beautiful face, which makes Coiny and Spongy switch to FreeSmart. Unlike Firey and Gelatin, Pencil actually considers them alternates, and encourages Ice Cube to keep doing her beautiful face. This leads to everyone except Fries switching to the alliance's team, though it is unknown if Pencil considered every new member an alternate, or just Coiny and Spongy.
In "Lots of Mud", Pencil, Book, and Ruby all leave Ice Cube after she makes an ugly face, leaving Ice Cube as a solo team. However, after Book notices how heartbroken she is, they all go back to her, reuniting the alliance.
In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4", Pencil and Ruby force Needle to join FreeSmart after Ice Cube is eliminated. However, Pencil tells Needle that she isn't actually a member, and that she must perform an act of sacrifice first. Later on, Needle saves FreeSmart by killing Coiny, cementing herself as a FreeSmarter. Ruby's sisters also take turns in Ruby's place.
In "Well, Look Who It Is!", Needle asks what perks she gets as a FreeSmart member, but Pencil says that she didn't see her act of sacrifice, so she's still not a member of the alliance.
In "PointyPointyPointy ♫", Pencil brings Bubble back again, and the alliance is delighted to see her. Later, though, Bubble is electrocuted by Pin, killing her.
In "Spore Day", Ruby, along with her sisters, are eliminated, leaving Pencil heartbroken. Needle tries to reassure her by bringing Bubble back, but Bubble is quickly killed again after she calls Needle "Needy". Later, Pencil again tells Needle that she didn't see her act of sacrifice last episode, and that she's still not a member.
In "Respect to the Wicked", Needle faces increasing pressure from WOAH Bunch and FreeSmart, eventually opting to play for both teams at once.
In "Start the Shift", Pencil is eliminated. Needle also leaves FreeSmart, instead choosing to team with Fries because he was the only one who didn't pressure her to team up.
In "Airplanes in the Night Sky", FreeSmart is dissolved as a result of the merge. Despite this, Needle remains on good terms with the alliance, with them going out of their way to assist her in the challenge several times.
In "Shattered" , During the elimination when Book is Safe Pencil was happy and offered her some cake. During the challenge (or at least a part of that challenge specifically at Pencil 's challenge station) She almost tells book about the challenge but zooms away at the last second with Pencil replying "Wow rude." Tennis Ball also didn't help Pencil until Needle comes over and Pencil asks her if she's doing her challenge or skipping. Needle chose to skip which surprised pencil who stopped her, Needle then tries to convince Pencil she can win for herself but Pencil replies that doing that wouldn't make her win and that she can have ALLIES or FRIENDS in the game which makes needle feel shame and says "I don't know" Pencil tells her she's doing fine in her own but isn't going to win without other people to help her sometimes also adding "there's nothing wrong with being a little NEEDY". Needle sighs thinking that she's obviously going to lose the challenge but Pencil encourages her to keep going and that she's owed a redo of her challenge which got her eliminated.. needle excepts and decides to do the challenge which turns out it was actually simple going around without tagging the super van Pencil says technically Book and TB already did it but didn't stay for the challenge so she gave it on Needle to do it. Needle does it then Pencil as a reward offers her a free ride.

In "Getting Teardrop to Talk", Pencil demotes Bubble from Member to "bember" because she stopped Lightning from zapping Flower. Book and Ice Cube leave Pencil's Alliance and join 
, because Book thinks being in the alliance is "too unhealthy".
Pencil is eliminated in "Lick Your Way to Freedom", which leaves only Match, Bubble, and Ruby in the alliance.
In "Questions Answered", Bubble is once again demoted to “bemb” by Match.
In "What Do You Think of Roleplay?", Match was eliminated, which leaves only Bubble and Ruby in the alliance.
In "Return of the Rocket Ship", Ice Cube joins Team Ice Cube!, but then leaves and joins Iance instead. Flower mentions she can't do that but Bubble says to let her think what she wants. As of now, the alliance consists of Bubble, Ruby, and Ice Cube (though unofficially).
in “The Escape from Four”, Liy said that she would demote Pencil and Match to bember for not wanting to help the others escape the EXIT, meaning that she could have possibly joined Pencil’s alliance. However, she is probably referring to the ranks of the Exitors instead of the alliance.

In "Category One", Pencil joins the season, and chooses team CloudYAY, unaware that Book and Ice Cube were on Team 2. Later, she tries to reunite with Book and Ice Cube, even suggesting a cross-team alliance, but this is turned down.
In "I SAID CAREFUL!!!", Pencil continues trying to form a cross-team alliance with Book and Ice Cube. She creates a leaflet and hides under it, rebuilds the Clubhouse of Awesomeness, and even turns a damaged van into the "CloudYAY Mega Supervan." This leads to Book getting sick of her antics. On the other side of the world, Match reunites with Bubble and Ruby.
In "Seasonal Shift", Pencil goes on a rant to Golf Ball about their time in The EXIT and how all the FreeSmart members are gone except for Book and Ice Cube who refuse to talk to her. Pencil tries to use the Yoylite to change her past, but is stopped by the rest of CloudYAY.
In "The Power of Four", Pencil gets into a fight with Price Tag, due to Price Tag "getting in the way of [the] alliance". Later, Pencil tells Donut and Golf Ball that they might be welcome into her new alliance if they do good work. Pencil also calls her and Golf Ball "the true heart and soul of the team".
In "Bottle For Dream Island", Pencil accidentally calls Golf Ball "Match" in a moment of panic. Later, she gets into a confrontation with Book, which results in Book firmly declaring that she hates her because of how selfish she is to them, and has no interest in joining Pencil's alliance. Afterwards, Pencil seems to have completely given up on the FreeSmart alliance, saying in a fit of anger that she can do everything by herself and that FreeSmart means nothing to her; it is unknown if she will follow through on this, or if this was just said out of anger, though it's more likely she said it out of anger.
In "BFB 31", it was revealed Match had become on good terms with Bubble and Ruby again.
In "Last One Standing", Match was seen worrying about Pencil after the sky went black. Later on in the challenge, Pencil used Two's power to zap Book to death and steal her bit of power. Later, she confronts Four about trapping her in the EXIT for six years and goes on to steal his power, too. After the fight, Pencil made a deal with One to go back in time in exchange for Two and Four's powers.
In "Alone", it was revealed that One had sent Pencil back in time to 2010 or "Take the Plunge: Part 1". Match then says her line of "Yeah I know, she was so surprised." before Pencil looking up at the sky, noticing the rift.
Others[]
In Total Firey Island, Bubble, Pencil, Match and Ice Cube were all the "popular girls" friend group, but in an unknown Total Firey Island book, Ice Cube gets cast out due to a disagreement, this was confirmed by Cary in one of his videos[2]
In "BFDIA 6 Deleted Scenes", Pencil uses the Freesmart Supervan to steal the Eiffel tower (which has the Clubhouse of Awesomeness at the top), which smashes the building that Golf Ball and Tennis Ball were going to live in. Pencil doesn't allow Ice Cube and Book inside since they're alternates but allows them to stay on the roof.

- As of "Getting Teardrop to Talk", Book and Ice Cube are no longer in the alliance
- As of Seasonal Shift, Needle has left the alliance to pursue independence separate from FreeSmart. Due to the nature of post revival Battle for Dream Island Again, Needle being a former member of the alliance isn't mentioned in IDFB, BFB or TPOT until Bottle For Dream Island, in which Pencil firmly states that Needle has left the alliance.
- There is no "leader" rank, but Pencil was in charge of the alliance before being eliminated. Match seemed to take on this role after Pencil, but as she is now eliminated, the "leader" is unclear. It's possible Ruby has taken on the role, but this is not confirmed.
- Although Pencil was the leader of the alliance before being eliminated, Bubble was the one who originally formed and founded the alliance.
- Every official member & alternate of the alliance is female.
- Despite being demoted twice, Bubble does not seem to have lost any privileges.
- Ice Cube seemed to have unofficially joined the alliance in "Return of the Rocket Ship", despite Flower saying that wasn't possible.
- Due to Pencil's insistence that Ice Cube join her alliance in Category One and I SAID CAREFUL!!!, it seems that Ice Cube has once again left the alliance.
- Bubble is the highest placing alliance member in both BFDI and BFB, while Pencil is the highest ranking member in BFDIA[4].
- From "Who Stole Donut's Diary?" to "Category One" there were no members of the alliance left competing in any BFDI seasons unless you count Ice Cube unofficially rejoining in "Return of the Rocket Ship", in which she was the only alliance member competing in a season, TPOT. However, due to Pencil's insistence that both Ice Cube and Book join her alliance in Category One and I SAID CAREFUL!!!, it seems that Ice Cube rejoining the alliance was just a fluke.
- That is only if you don't count the revival of BFDIA, in which the lack of alliance members competing went from Who Stole Donut's Diary? to Well Rested.
- Since Pencil's debut in TPOT and Needle having been an alternate from Insectophobe's Nightmare 4 to Start the Shift, there are a total of four TPOT contestants either currently or formerly in the alliance.
- TPOT was the only season without alliance members, only alternates (Book, Ice Cube and Needle), all of whom quit the alliance at some point. It was true until "Category One", when Pencil joined the season.
