Please go to Plot hole fixes and backshadowing to view any plot holes that have since been fixed.
In fiction, plot holes refer to inconsistencies and errors within a piece of media's plot. This is a list of plot holes in the Battle for Dream Island series. Note that these could be fixed or explained by ongoing seasons.
A possible canonical reason for many of these unexplained plot holes may be due to the timeline being broken in "Seasonal Shift". Even after One repaired the rift in space-time, there was enough damage done for some things to stay different, this even being acknowledged by the characters themselves.
Battle for Dream Island[]

- "Take the Plunge: Part 2"
- When Teardrop goes underwater, she remains in her droplet form. However, multiple episodes after this (specifically "The Four is Lava", "Fishes and Dishes", and "The Seven Wonders of Goiky") show that she always merges with any water she is in contact with.
- She may have only gained this ability after being shot by the Enhancement L-Yoy-Ser in "Well, Look Who It Is!". It also might be an ability she can activate at will.
- When Teardrop goes underwater, she remains in her droplet form. However, multiple episodes after this (specifically "The Four is Lava", "Fishes and Dishes", and "The Seven Wonders of Goiky") show that she always merges with any water she is in contact with.
- "Barriers and Pitfalls"
- Bubble has been shown to pop from lesser things in past and future episodes, so the spike crushing Bubble should have also popped her.
- Announcer explains to Pin the functionality of a Win Token: if you're about to be eliminated, you can use it to void half of your votes. But when Pin tries to use it in that exact situation in "Power of Three", Announcer doesn't allow her to do so, saying it is "too late". Even during episodes 3, 4, and 5, he asks Pin if she wants to use it, as if he never gave the initial explanation, and changed the rules of how it works.
- "Cycle of Life"
- This is the only episode to say that Ice Cube's body needs to be fully melted to be recovered. This doesn't seem to be true ever again since she has died and been recovered many times without having herself completely melt (e.g., shattering, which is even shown later in the same episode multiple times). However, this could only be a requirement in the case that Ice Cube dies from melting.
- "Lofty
- Snowball pops Pencil's balloon due to the balloons being pink, however in Battle for BFB he doesn't mind his team's logo, paper airplane and room being pink.
- It may be possible that Snowball might have gotten over this as time passed.
- Snowball pops Pencil's balloon due to the balloons being pink, however in Battle for BFB he doesn't mind his team's logo, paper airplane and room being pink.
- "Return of the Hang Glider"
- Tennis Ball says that Woody died from a heart attack because of his fear of the color gray despite Woody being completely fine in the TLC for 2 years.
- However, it is possible that Woody developed this fear because of the TLC.
- Tennis Ball says that Woody died from a heart attack because of his fear of the color gray despite Woody being completely fine in the TLC for 2 years.
Battle for Dream Island Again[]
- "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know"
- While removing the people that weren't present, Nonexisty is shown being removed. Despite this, he appears inside the LOL in the IDFB intro and has tape covering his "mouth" in "Respect to the Wicked"[1]
- In one scene, Coiny and Nickel are seen right next to each other, but no money portal or even minor distortion is seen forming.
- This is because this takes place before Get in the Van, which is when that fact was first established.
"Dream Island? That sounds like a disease!"
- This is because this takes place before Get in the Van, which is when that fact was first established.
- "Get Digging"
- The Locker of Losers appears to be much bigger than the Tiny Loser Chamber, despite being the same size of it in "Reveal Novum".
- However, it is possible that the Announcer enlarged it.
- The Locker of Losers appears to be much bigger than the Tiny Loser Chamber, despite being the same size of it in "Reveal Novum".
- "Zeeky Boogy Doog"
- Book doesn't know what Dream Island is at the start of the episode, even though she does back in "Reveal Novum".
- Bomby's explosion killed everyone in Golf Ball's Underground Factory and destroyed the new Dream Island. In many other episodes though (such as "Don't Dig Straight Down"), Bomby's explosions aren't enough to kill others even when they are extremely close to him. In this episode, no one was as nearly as close to Bomby during the explosion, meaning no one should have died from it.
- Gelatin and Yellow Face were seen in the stinger even though they already died in the Incinerator and Bomby's explosion respectively
- They may have been recovered off-screen and died again later, though it is unlikely that W.O.A.H Bunch would recover Gelatin, considering he's on the other team.
- "Get in the Van"
- Flower was shown being possessed by Evil Leafy in "Zeeky Boogy Doog", however after everyone is recovered, she is shown perfectly normal, until she vomits up Evil Leafy. This is not the case when someone is possessed, as shown in "Start the Shift".
- "The Long-lost Yoyle City"
- Firey doesn't get extinguished after being unfrozen, unlike in "Zeeky Boogy Doog".
- Needle is the only member of W.O.A.H. Bunch seen being affected by the FreeSmart SuperVan's magnet, despite future episodes showing otherwise (specifically "Intruder Alert" and "Lick Your Way to Freedom").
- "Well Rested"
- Firey is shown to be intangible to the spike ball thrown at him by Gelatin's headphones but in other instances of collision with objects, he acts as a solid.
- "Intruder Alert"
- Book is upset with Firey for calling her well-read, and is seemingly happy with Gelatin joining the team because they're both green. However, Gelatin also referred to Book as well-read, even if not explicitly.
- However, this may happen because Book's liking of the color green may be stronger than her dislike to being called well-read.
- Book is upset with Firey for calling her well-read, and is seemingly happy with Gelatin joining the team because they're both green. However, Gelatin also referred to Book as well-read, even if not explicitly.
- "Meaty"
- In the sped-up footage of FreeSmart and Firey Speaker Box running across the Goiky Canal, they were all able to hold their breath despite not being able to in "It's a Monster".
- Firey Speaker Box is seen running underwater with FreeSmart even though he is "an electronic device," which have been shown to not survive in water.
- It could have been possible that he's waterproof.
- Fries was seen in the stinger even though he already died in a car crash.
- "Catch These Hands"
- Even though Golf Ball was hard enough to destroy the Announcer Crusher in "Barriers and Pitfalls" she is crushed easily by the trash compactor here.
- However, the Announcer Crusher didn't have spikes when Golf Ball destroyed it, unlike the trash compactor.
- Tennis Ball carved the structural formula of Acetylsalicylic acid on the Moon, but we never see it again in later episodes.
- In the stinger, Ruby asked where Pencil was, even though she was there when Pencil was crushed by the trash compactor.
- However, it's possible that she just forgot.
- Even though Golf Ball was hard enough to destroy the Announcer Crusher in "Barriers and Pitfalls" she is crushed easily by the trash compactor here.
- "Lots of Mud"
- Pencil refers to Ruby as Bubble's replacement. However, Ruby was a full member even with Bubble present as shown in Insectophobe's Nightmare 3, Zeeky Boogy Doog, BFDIA 5 and Catch These Hands.
- Book and Nickel don't know who Flower is, even though Nickel does in "Intruder Alert" and Flower is shown inside of Book's covers in "Reveal Novum".
- It is possible that they may have forgotten about her.
- Several characters (Ice Cube, Pin) who died before or during this episode were somehow brought back to life without the HPRC or the remaining contestants' help.
- The HPRC BIF BOTET disintegrated in "Catch These Hands". They could simply go to Yoyleland and use the HPRC. However, since Puffball got eliminated, the FreeSmart SuperVan is still in Yoyleland since "Well Rested", Lewis and Fries' respective cars broke, and Gelatin went to the WTF with his grappling hook, the only option was to simply walk there, which would have taken too long. Since walking down the Yoyle highway is impossible without the super-stick shoes, they would have had to walk underwater.
- They may have modified the Tennis Ball Recovery Center, which would be used for this same purpose in the next episode. This doesn't explain how Ice Cube got recovered from her death in this episode though.
- "Well, Look Who It Is!"
- When Firey is at the Science Museum, he breaks an advanced Yoyle tech, and puts a bakery cookie in its place. However, in "Well Rested", the bakery cookie was already there.
- Additionally, in "Welcome Back", the Yoylese sign reads 'biscuit' even though the items were there before they got into the Science Museum.
- Coiny and Nickel are right on top of each other when putting Yellow Face in the WTF, but no money portal or even minor distortion is seen forming.
- Needle makes a claim of her act of sacrifice and Pencil expresses skepticism. She asks Book about it, but she says she was dead at the time. The confusing part is that Pencil never asks Ruby, who unofficially promoted Needle the previous episode.
- Additionally, Book was formerly an alternate while Ruby has always been a full member during her time with the alliance. This calls into question why Pencil asked Book first instead of Ruby, and why Needle never mentioned Ruby promoting her.
- When Firey is at the Science Museum, he breaks an advanced Yoyle tech, and puts a bakery cookie in its place. However, in "Well Rested", the bakery cookie was already there.
- "PointyPointyPointy ♫"
- Coiny saying that he doesn't like eating an island because it is 90% dirt is ironic, since a characteristic he is well known for is his dirt cakes.
- It is possible that the dirt is uncooked, hence why he doesn't like eating it.
- It is also possible that Coiny meant that he only eats dirt if it is 100% dirt.
- The contestants are able to understand what Dora says when she is hosting. However, it is implied in "Getting Teardrop to Talk" and "The Four is Lava" that they're unable to.
- It is possible that the contestants have broken the fourth wall by reading the subtitles when she speaks. However, they never actually look down at the subtitles, and in future seasons, they don't seem to do so either. It's likely the inconsistent understanding of her language is a joke in and of itself.
- Ruby pushes Toilet Brush off of Teardrop's island, and as expected, she and Book's duo gets a reward for doing so. Except Pencil and Needle also get a reward, even though they didn't do the island's challenge as instructed.
- Coiny saying that he doesn't like eating an island because it is 90% dirt is ironic, since a characteristic he is well known for is his dirt cakes.
- "Spore Day"
- The contestants are able to breathe inside of the water droplet despite the fact that these same contestants have been shown to drown underwater upon staying inside of it for too long.
- When Needle searches Tennis Ball's fuzz for Golf Ball's shrink ray, it is not seen on Tennis Ball's head despite never being shrunken down.
- "Respect to the Wicked"
- Balloony is seen at the window of the flying LOL, meaning he is not cranking and we see the other LOLers tied up leading to no reason for it to be flying
- Cary had apparently claimed before, that the TLC's residents can't be killed and recovered, because the HPRC can't detect their DNA due to the walls being too thick[2]. However, the remaining 9 contestants were in a golden water droplet in Balloony's eye. Balloony is also inside the TLC. Realistically speaking, it should have been impossible for the contestants to be recovered.
- Golf Ball's shrink-a-tron also got squished, and yet it appears in "The Great Goikian Bake-Off" (although, it was more than likely fixed or rebuilt in the span of 9 years).
- Similar to the last episode, when everyone gets recovered they retain their size, including Pin despite never retaining her size when shrunken in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4"
- This may be because physical changes from the wheel are more permanent, as shown by Bomby still being purple after dying and being recovered multiple times
- Despite Nickel being directly on top of the FreeSmart SuperVan, he doesn’t even attempt to tag it.
- He may have thought it was a different van. However, it would be very unlikely, because the Supervan is very distinguishable due to its colors and general design, along with its name written on the side. It would be very difficult to for him to climb on top of the Supervan without noticing what vehicle it is.
- The voices of Pencil, Book, and Needle would also make it obvious what van it is, though he may have missed them due to the sounds of the engine.
- It could be because there was a picnic blanket on top of the van, which doesn’t mean he directly tagged the van.
- He may have thought it was a different van. However, it would be very unlikely, because the Supervan is very distinguishable due to its colors and general design, along with its name written on the side. It would be very difficult to for him to climb on top of the Supervan without noticing what vehicle it is.
- Tennis Ball is unable to reach Nickel's shard taped to his back with his legs, yet previous episodes such as "Well Rested" and "Taste the Sweetness" show that he can extend his legs several times longer than his body's length without any issue.
- "Start the Shift"
- Nickel says he found the Yoylite straw in the Auditorium, even though it was actually last seen on Donut Island in "PointyPointyPointy ♫".
- It is possible that the Yoylite straw may have been moved back to the Auditorium off-screen.
- Fries reacts with pain when Tennis Ball removes part of one of his fries to combine with the Yoylite, despite the fact that he has never expressed pain whenever someone takes a fry and takes a bite out of it. He's even fed Bomby his fries before, and showed no visible signs of discomfort.
- Though that could be a side effect of the Noctiluca yoylean he ingested.
- Nickel says he found the Yoylite straw in the Auditorium, even though it was actually last seen on Donut Island in "PointyPointyPointy ♫".
- "🥚"
- When Gelatin goes into the water to follow Fries he does not go soggy
- When Pin goes into the water to follow the WTFers, she doesn't seem to have been electrocuted by the water making contact with her mech suit, which is established as being electric. This contradicts when it happens in "Spore Day".
- However, it is possible that her mech suit is water-resistant but not fully water-proof, as she wasn't electrocuted that often when being in a water molecule.
- When Tennis Ball is killing the WTFers for the challenge, he is unable to squish Yellow Face, who has to find a way to die, even though it was shown in "The Long-lost Yoyle City" that he is able to die on command.
- It's possible that he may have just forgot.
IDFB[]
- "Welcome Back"
- FreeSmart says that it's the 1,127th day of recording video diaries, which doesn't make sense as that would mean they started on August 1, 2013, but they actually are shown to begin in "Well Rested" which canonically takes place a month after that date on September 1, 2013.
- However, it is very unlikely that it takes an entire month to fall off Yoyle Mountain, so "Well Rested" could canonically take place directly after "The Long-lost Yoyle City".
- It is also possible that "Welcome Back" takes place on October 1st, 2016
- Fries mentions that he can't survive without his fries, most of which rotted away, got burned by Firey, or eaten by Gelatin. However, upon death and recovery, he regains his fries. So in theory, he could just die and have someone recover him, giving him his fries back.
- Fries is semi-stubborn, so it isn't impossible that he would rather grow his own rather than be killed and recovered, or he is bored and doesn't have much to do so he just does this to pass the time.
- Pencil mentioned viewers didn’t know who would be eliminated in "Well Rested" despite the episode releasing.
- However, she refers to her "diary followers", which may not be necessarily BFDI viewers but instead, the FreeSmart's video diary viewers.
- But if it was mentioned in one of the diaries, they most certainly would have heard about it.
- Not to mention, the diaries didn't start until after Puffball was eliminated.
- However, she refers to her "diary followers", which may not be necessarily BFDI viewers but instead, the FreeSmart's video diary viewers.
- FreeSmart says that it's the 1,127th day of recording video diaries, which doesn't make sense as that would mean they started on August 1, 2013, but they actually are shown to begin in "Well Rested" which canonically takes place a month after that date on September 1, 2013.
Battle for BFDI[]

"No one here can get up there!"
- "Getting Teardrop to Talk"
- Bell said that no one could reach the baskets when forgetting about Puffball even though Bell herself is shown with the ability to change her height many times after this episode. Either she may have forgot to do this, or there may be a certain height limit to her ability (although, her ability appears to extend far above X's stairs in "What's Up Bell's String?").
- "Lick Your Way to Freedom"
- Four claims that Pencil's 4,595 votes is the highest ever, despite Post-Revival BFDIA episodes having higher vote counts.
- This makes even less sense as Four was obsessed with BFDI and has an archive of every BFDI episode.
- It is possible that Four did not have an archive of every Battle for Dream Island Again episode and have not viewed it.
- Another possibility is BFDIA votes not being accounted for due to each voter being able to cast up to 18 votes.
- Though most episodes have had very few contestants up for elimination, which makes this a moot point.
- This makes even less sense as Four was obsessed with BFDI and has an archive of every BFDI episode.
- Four claims that Pencil's 4,595 votes is the highest ever, despite Post-Revival BFDIA episodes having higher vote counts.
- "Four Goes Too Far"
- David is turned orange when declared safe, but Four had already been multiplied by zero before that happened, and X ran away as well, so it leads to the question of how he turned orange with both Four and X gone.
- While his team is hiding under a basket, Coiny cheers up Pin by reminding her of her great experience with him in Battle for Dream Island Again. Coiny tells Pin there is nothing to be afraid of, which she believes. However, this completely contradicts the fact that Pin received so much trauma from that season, due to her losing her limbs, face and size. Plus, in "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life", Pin asks Coiny why he believes the season was fun when it wasn't. This may be more of a continuity error on the part of "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life" than this episode, however.
- However, Coiny might have enjoyed Battle for Dream Island Again after Pin got her face and size back in "PointyPointyPointy ♫".
- Coiny mentions how he and Pin were co-captains of W.O.A.H. Bunch for one year, despite Battle for Dream Island Again having shown that they have been that for longer.
- It is possible that Coiny thinks of Wheel Ooze A Hole Bunch and Water's Open Aperature Hater Bunch as different teams which would make the amount of days they were captians 610 which means 1 year, 7 months and 27 days.
- He does not specify this, however. Additionally, he refers to both as W.O.A.H. Bunch.
- "What Do You Think of Roleplay?"
- Golf Ball claims that Nickel is aware of the Wall Teleporter, despite him not being at the scene it was revealed.
- Nickel may be made aware of its existence in a future IDFB episode when it inevitably continues.#
- However Nickel was also present in the garden, the area where the other mentioned characters were
- Golf Ball claims that Nickel is aware of the Wall Teleporter, despite him not being at the scene it was revealed.
- "Return of the Rocket Ship"
- Saw claims to have told Taco that she was leaving. However, Saw herself said Taco died in "The Liar Ball You Don't Want", and she was not recovered until "Enter the Exit". Saw left before the events of "This Episode Is About Basketball", so she could not have told Taco anything.
- This may be for comedic effect.
- Despite witnessing Four swallowing Pillow, and believing she was dead, Tree does not attempt to recover her when recovering Bottle.
- Basketball was woken up by Grassy shouting. However, Four screeched really loudly minutes before that, so she should have woken up then.
- Bottle claims to have heard rumors of X's emeralds being lodged in the spikes of Evil Canyon and her team believes her, even though everyone heard from Grassy that the emeralds were underground, and the Evil Canyon is above ground.
- She may have interpreted Grassy as only referring to only some of the emeralds, but that does not explain why her team believed her, as they knew X was hurdling toward Earth's center to find his treasure.
- Rocky is still orange despite returning to his original color in "What Do You Think of Roleplay?".
- Jacknjellify said the reason for this would be explained in "The Escape from Four" or later on Patreon. Although the showrunning crew has changed since then, meaning this may have been forgotten about.
- Blocky rotating the rocket's satellite dish should not have affected Remote, as Robot Flower was required to start the connection in "The Liar Ball You Don't Want".
- Robot Flower is depicted with a pink panel covering her back center in this episode, which is contradicted in various TPOT episodes as her not having one is an important part of her design since it's where her reset switch is located.
- Ironically enough, the intro for that season depicts this error as well.
- It may have been physically removed by Basketball in "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life" when she was inspecting Robot Flower's malfunction and never put it back on.
- Strangely, it reappears in "I SAID CAREFUL!!!" after being absent for most of the season. Although, Basketball may have put it back on deliberately due to Robot Flower's personality finally being fixed since then, meaning it may not be necessary for the switch to be exposed anymore.
- Saw claims to have told Taco that she was leaving. However, Saw herself said Taco died in "The Liar Ball You Don't Want", and she was not recovered until "Enter the Exit". Saw left before the events of "This Episode Is About Basketball", so she could not have told Taco anything.
- "The Four is Lava"
- Even if Coiny and Naily are heat resistant enough to withstand lava, contestants have still been shown to die from suffocation or drowning, so staying under lava for four months should have killed them anyway.
- By extension, Ruby should have survived the lava, since the melting point of copper is way lower than that of ruby. Similarly, Lightning should've been entirely capable of surviving in the lava, as the air around lightning bolts heats up way above the temperature of lava, which appears to be of no issue to him.
- Gaty instantly dies from a small burst of lava coming out of Four's eye, but in "Getting Teardrop to Talk" she was able to swim in lava for a while before dying.
- Even though, throughout the episode, Ice Cube, who was also small and more eligible to melting, was dangerously close to lava, she didn't have any issue.
- Needle is fireproof here, even though she was killed by Yellow Face's flamethrower in "No More Snow!".
- It is possibly a side effect or a new ability gained after eating the Photo Cake.
- In BFDIA, it is possible that the spikes were what killed her, rather than the flames.
- This is not possible, as Needle reacted with fear to the flamethrower being thrown at her. Additionally, she died after burning for a while.
- Even if Coiny and Naily are heat resistant enough to withstand lava, contestants have still been shown to die from suffocation or drowning, so staying under lava for four months should have killed them anyway.
Battle for BFB[]
- "Take the Tower"
- Four claims there are no more empty seats in the EXIT, despite Spongy not going into the EXIT and Loser leaving the EXIT and thus creating empty seats. Also, the EXITors left before the events of "Take the Tower", and Four was aware of this, as they chased them when they left. Only Roboty remained in the EXIT, so the EXIT could not have been full.
- However, this may have been an excuse, because the EXIT was trashed and the door was opened.
- Taco pushes Flower off her team's tower, mistaking her for Dora, believing TPOT contestants weren't allowed. However, Dora wasn't a TPOT contestant, as she was eliminated in "The Four is Lava", which Taco witnessed.
- It is possible that Taco could have forgotten. Although at the time, it had only been five months or so since it happened, as well as Dora being on her team.
- The EXITors are officially regarded as TPOT characters, as "Out Of The Blue" entirely focused on them, and they appear in TPOT stingers. However, the former happened 4 years later, and Taco could not have known the latter.
- "How Loe Can You Grow?"
- Taco gets angry at Spongy due to him missing the friendship bracelet she made for him, but she was there and was watching Loser when he removed and cut the bracelet in the previous episode.
- This could be considered an animation error instead of a plot hole depending on if the script for the previous episode specified that Taco was watching Loser do that.
- Taco gets angry at Spongy due to him missing the friendship bracelet she made for him, but she was there and was watching Loser when he removed and cut the bracelet in the previous episode.
- "A Taste of Space"
- The Have Cots struggle to breathe in space, despite characters being able to breathe in space both before and after this episode.
- Announcer explained back in Battle for Dream Island that this was due to budget cuts. However, this doesn't explain the contestants being just fine in other instances, such as how it was possible for A Better Name Than That and
to do so for the time period of "Four Goes Too Far" through "Questions Answered".
- Announcer explained back in Battle for Dream Island that this was due to budget cuts. However, this doesn't explain the contestants being just fine in other instances, such as how it was possible for A Better Name Than That and
- X is in great pain from being on fire, but he seemed to have no reaction to being submerged in lava in "Return of the Rocket Ship".
- The Have Cots struggle to breathe in space, despite characters being able to breathe in space both before and after this episode.
- "Who Stole Donut's Diary?"
- Leafy obviously objected to Firey's falsified story about her stealing the diary. But Flower also could have pointed out that he was lying, since she was included in the story and would know what was said. However, her objecting to the story would result in her team's loss.
- "The Tweested Temple"
- Lollipop said Purple Face was trapped in the Beryllium Fortress, Destruction Impossible for 8 years, when it was actually 6 years.
- However, it's possible that she estimated, given how long he was in there for.
- Purple Face says that the Archaic Temple was built in the year 2763, but that's not possible due to that year being in the future, and it's established that episodes take place on the same day they're released.
- However, he may have meant the year 2,763 BC, or he could've lied about the year to pretend that he knows about the temple.
- If the temple was made back in 2,763 BC, that would mean the temple was made around 4,783 years before the episode takes place.
- However, he may have meant the year 2,763 BC, or he could've lied about the year to pretend that he knows about the temple.
- Lollipop said Purple Face was trapped in the Beryllium Fortress, Destruction Impossible for 8 years, when it was actually 6 years.
- "The Hidden Contestant"
- Gelatin shows X the voting results for this episode that shows Profily supposedly received 0 votes, and should be eliminated. However, there are two problems with this:
- Profily grabbed the other blessed totem in the previous episode, and thus technically won immunity. So even if they were actually a contestant, they would not have been up for elimination to begin with.
- If Profily got the least votes and should be eliminated, that would mean Woody should still be in the game, since he, in that instance, would not have gotten the fewest votes.
- Gelatin shows X the voting results for this episode that shows Profily supposedly received 0 votes, and should be eliminated. However, there are two problems with this:
- "B.F.B. = Back From Beginning"
- After the Announcer brings the eliminated contestants back, Loser wonders who the Announcer is even though he and Winner worked for the Announcer back in "Puzzling Mysteries".
- However, it is possible that Loser just forgot about it. Winner remembering may be due to not having a celebrity life to remember everything about unlike Loser.
- However, it is possible that Loser just forgot about it. Winner remembering may be due to not having a celebrity life to remember everything about unlike Loser.
- After the Announcer brings the eliminated contestants back, Loser wonders who the Announcer is even though he and Winner worked for the Announcer back in "Puzzling Mysteries".
- "Chapter Complete"
- In the stinger, the moon is shown to be in space despite how it was relocated to being in contact with the Earth's surface in "Questions Answered", which had stayed there since.
Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two[]

"I guess there really WASN'T enough room up there..." or is there?
- "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?"
- Two does not react to Fries saying he cannot hear them, despite Two stating they can hear Fanny from anywhere in "The Seven Wonders of Goiky".
- It is possible that they did not know they had a super-hearing power at the time, or that they didn't think to start using it until "The Seven Wonders of Goiky".
- Puffball was unable to hear Two on the hotel roof from the ground despite how she could hear the Firey Speaker Box and Tennis Ball from space during the elimination ceremony in "Well Rested".
- It is possible that she lost her hearing powers from the Enhancement L-Yoy-Ser in "Well, Look Who It Is!".
- Cloudy can only carry Rocky slowly even though he was able to carry Balloony, Nickel, Woody, Rocky, and Naily while moving fast in "Don't Dig Straight Down". This may be because he had to balance Rocky on his head.
- This raises the question of why Cloudy didn't carry The S! up in a similar manner to the group in "Don't Dig Straight Down".
- It is possible that Cloudy isn't able to carry stuff on top of him, only when things are holding on to him as shown in "Don't Dig Straight Down".
- Fries is alive and perfectly fine without his fries, despite claiming that he needs them to live in "Welcome Back". However, the death may take place over a period of time instead of instantly, or that he was exaggerating.
- Death P.A.C.T. Again is shown to struggle climbing up the flight of green stairs, despite being heard climbing past the yellow stairs just fine. Not only that, but the floors are also right on top of each other.
- A flowerpot thrown from the 4th floor of the Hotel by Remote was not able to escape Black Hole's gravity, but in "The Four is Lava", Remote, Pen, and Bottle jumped from below Black Hole and were still able to escape his gravity.
- It is possible that Black Hole can only fling people up if he knows they're trying to do so, as he isn't known for his sense of hearing. In this case, the team would have to use Tree's megaphone to get Black Hole's attention before jumping out.
- Puffball couldn't use her size-changing ability to carry her team up the building in this episode for an unknown reason. This ability works just fine in later episodes of the season.
- The possible reason might be that she didn't want her team to end up like in "The Long-lost Yoyle City".
- Killing her team in that episode was voluntary, so this explanation is moot.
- Another possible explanation is that she forgot that she could do so, similar to how Lightning sometimes forgets that he can fly.
- The possible reason might be that she didn't want her team to end up like in "The Long-lost Yoyle City".
- The stinger shows that Stapy hit the ground at the end of "X Marks the Spot", however he started falling in "The Escape from Four". These episodes take place nearly a month apart, meaning Stapy fell for almost a month.
- Two does not react to Fries saying he cannot hear them, despite Two stating they can hear Fanny from anywhere in "The Seven Wonders of Goiky".
- "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life"
- It is implied that Robot Flower was malfunctioning due to Death P.A.C.T. Again ordering too many batteries. However, Death P.A.C.T. Again was clearly placing their battery orders one at a time in the beginning of the episode, so Robot Flower should have delivered their first order correctly.
- It's revealed in "Get to the Top in 500 Steps" that Black Hole can grab items and people with his gravity. But in this episode, he is unable to do so with blocks for an unknown reason.
- He may have learned to control this ability better.
- Gaty says she chose her periwinkle color herself, even though it was actually Saw.
- She could have told Saw to get the periwinkle paint bucket.
- "Gardening Zero"
- Gaty barely has a reaction to being up for elimination here, even though she has been shown to have a great fear of being up for elimination in various episodes (specifically "What Do You Think of Roleplay?", "The Four is Lava", "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?", and "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters"). She may have calmed down after becoming friendly with Two, however, although this fear does return in "I SAID CAREFUL!!!".
- Two uses teleporting bracelets to teleport the contestants to different biomes, when they are shown to already have a teleporting ability in "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters" and "The Seven Wonders of Goiky".
- Barf Bag was excited to be in Yoyleland, and Donut mentioned that it's his first time there despite already being there in IDFB.
- It is possible that he meant he never got to actually explore Yoyleland itself, or that they regard Yoyleland as a different place from the inside of the LOL.
- If Donut meant that, he likely would have specified, and being inside of a structure inside of a location is still considered being in that location. Like how you say you're in a city despite technically not being in the city itself, just in a house.
- It is possible that he meant he never got to actually explore Yoyleland itself, or that they regard Yoyleland as a different place from the inside of the LOL.
- The funny plant got zapped when Lightning touched it, yet most other things he touches don't get zapped, such as when he safely catches Flower in "Get to the Top in 500 Steps".
- Clock tells Ice Cube she would "sublimate in a vacuum" if she went to space, but she was unharmed in episodes such as "Gardening Hero" and "Four Goes Too Far".
- Even though contestants have the ability to go back home by taking their bracelets off, no one on The Strongest Team on Earth. does this to help Bell get hers back on once it falls off accidentally. It also couldn't have possibly fallen off.
- Even if Ice Cube was stuck inside of the soil, if she lost enough water, she would eventually become small enough to be taken out with ease. Remote could've also picked up the soil underneath the funny plant and repositioned it so it would stop taking water from Ice Cube.
- "Fishes and Dishes"
- Two thinks that the hotel is crowded with both Death P.A.C.T. Again and Just Not on the roof, despite there clearly being enough roof for all the TPOT contestants and TPOT debuters in "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?".
- It is possible that the contestants were just too close to Two at that moment.
- Pillow is seen to be able to write perfectly fine when writing a new definition of gravity in Book despite the fact that the Official Character Guide states that she doesn't know how to.
- However, she may have been learning how to write between the time the character guide was written and the episode's release. Additionally, in "The Seven Wonders of Goiky" she is seen writing again but many of the words are misspelled.
- This is subverted by the fact that it's shown that she can't read a map in "The Power of Four".

- Winner's first death depicted them dying in lava, but it's later established that they are actually fire/lavaproof.
- However this could be because in other instances so far the fire/volcano lava had outside airflow to cool it whilst the Goikian lava did not.
- It is also possible that they were somehow prepared for later contact with fire/lava, perhaps because they were expecting to fall in lava while on the volcano in "I SAID CAREFUL!!!" and because they were burnt by Pillow only an episode prior to the aforementioned one.
- This is the only time Ice Cube is seen melting when submerged in the water of the Goiky Canal, which doesn't happen at all in other episodes such as "It's a Monster" and "Balancing P.A.C.T.".
- This can be written off as a one-time gag for the episode.
- "The Great Goikian Bake-Off"
- Just Not are able to walk to the Evil Forest even though it was confirmed that in the next episode that the grasslands are separate from the plains.
- Despite Team8s' stack being destroyed in "Getting Puffball To Think About Rollercoasters" by Eraser, Needle somehow uses it here to attempt to crush Two.
- "Balancing P.A.C.T."
- Despite how Teardrop fell into the water while inside Barf Bag, Two did not eliminate her, despite how the rules stated that they would get out if they fell into the water. It's possible, however, that Teardrop never directly touched the water while being inside Barf Bag.
- Despite Two declaring that flying contestants are disqualified from the contest, Bell is still able to compete while Puffball and Black Hole aren't.
- It is possible that the reason why may be because Bell has a string as she was later deattached from her string after Yellow Face threw Ice Cube at her.
- "Outbreak At Stake"
- The Gelatin's Steakhouse in this episode is seemingly shown to be the same one from "Meaty", complete with a section of glasses, mirrors, and even Barbecue Sauce's body.
- It is possible that the grasslands steakhouse from "What Do You Think of Roleplay?" also used to be a shadeshouse and Barbecue Sauce's body just happened to be there. It may also be that the steakhouse in the plains was just moved to the grasslands, similar to Golf Ball's Underground Factory.
- The Gelatin's Steakhouse in this episode is seemingly shown to be the same one from "Meaty", complete with a section of glasses, mirrors, and even Barbecue Sauce's body.
- "Oneirophobe's Nightmare"
- Yellow Face was able to hear Two on the hotel roof from the ground despite how he couldn't hear them from the same distance in "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?".
- It is possible that Two learned to project their voice after being beaten up by the contestants in "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?".
- That leads to the question of why Two would project their voice loudly enough for Yellow Face to hear it.
- Yellow Face was also able to run up the stairs very quickly, despite it taking Death P.A.C.T. Again half the length of "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?" to do so.
- This may be because he has different physiology from the Objects, or because he had learned to climb the stairs faster due to living near the hotel.
- It is possible that Two learned to project their voice after being beaten up by the contestants in "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?".
- Yellow Face was able to hear Two on the hotel roof from the ground despite how he couldn't hear them from the same distance in "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?".
- "Out Of The Blue"
- In one of Four's rooms, Robot Flower is seen in the Underworld due to being dead since "Oneirophobe's Nightmare". However, this scene is shown during the January 2021-March 2022 portion of the EXITor montage, which was actually two to three years before the events of "Oneirophobe's Nightmare".
- It is possible that either the door can lead to the future or Robot Flower has died offscreen before in 2021. However, the latter is unlikely because there were no ways for her to get recovered until "The Worst Day of Black Hole's Life", where Two orders a recovery center.
- Additionally, one has to be crushed by a trash compactor to enter the Underworld, whereas Robot Flower was crushed by the members of Team8s.
- Robot Flower being seen in the underworld is only a visual gag, and thus, is not as major of an issue as other plot holes.
- Match is shown to be unable to breathe underwater, despite being just fine underwater in BFDIA 5b.

- "Category One"
- Somehow, Firey Jr. was able to survive in a heavy rainstorm completely unharmed.
- This might've happened because he was small enough to avoid getting hit by any of the drops. He would have to either be extremely lucky, or very good at dodging, however.
- Somehow, Firey Jr. was able to survive in a heavy rainstorm completely unharmed.
- "I SAID CAREFUL!!!"
- Donut overheating caused him to cook and explode, but when he was in even closer proximity with the lava from "Don't Dig Straight Down" he didn't die until actually touching the lava itself.
- Although, the fact that he was inside Golf Ball's drill, a small, metal space that was only getting hotter the entire time, may have been what contributed to his cooking this episode.
- Donut overheating caused him to cook and explode, but when he was in even closer proximity with the lava from "Don't Dig Straight Down" he didn't die until actually touching the lava itself.
- "Seasonal Shift"
- Blocky in "Who Stole Donut's Diary?" doesn't seem to recognize any member of CloudYAY despite having competed against (in Golf Ball's case, alongside) them in BFB.
- However, he said this when he saw Winner, so probably just meant them since he doesn’t know them. Characters with limb changes such as Donut and Yellow Face may also have been less recognizable to past Blocky.
- Blocky specifically says "who are you people?", so the first point is impossible. Also, Donut and Yellow Face's faces have not changed, so Blocky should have been easily able to recognize them.
- However, he said this when he saw Winner, so probably just meant them since he doesn’t know them. Characters with limb changes such as Donut and Yellow Face may also have been less recognizable to past Blocky.
- Pencil says she doesn't like the 9:16 screen ratio but back in Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know, she said it was her favorite screen shape.
- Although, her opinion may have changed due to being trapped in the EXIT for almost 7 years.
- Taco seems to know about Death P.A.C.T. Yet Again, despite that team not being formed for another 4 years.
- However, she may be referring to the presence of Tree, the only member in the scene from the original Death P.A.C.T. team.
- Four doesn't react to Pencil not being in the EXIT. Despite at this point knowing that she had escaped the classroom.
- Blocky in "Who Stole Donut's Diary?" doesn't seem to recognize any member of CloudYAY despite having competed against (in Golf Ball's case, alongside) them in BFB.
- "The Power of Four"
- "Bottle For Dream Island"
- Pencil panicked when she received the most votes during Cake at Stake, thinking that it was vote to eliminate. However, in "The Power of Four", she was present during Death P.A.C.T. Yet Again's Cake at Stake ceremony, therefore she should have known about it.
- Snowball melts when Bottle shines a flashlight on him. However, he doesn't melt when close to a burning Grassy in "Gardening Zero" or when the sun gets transported in the Tiny Loser Chamber in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 2".
- When Price Tag watches a past clip from "The Liar Ball You Don't Want", Marker is green due to the timeline changes in "Seasonal Shift", but this is not present in the original episode, which is contradictory to the fact that changes involving the past are always seen in the actual older episodes themselves (such as Donut and Bottle's conversation in "Getting Teardrop to Talk" and Ruby's accidental appearance in "A Taste of Space").
- "BFB 31"
- At 23:01, While Blocky is running back towards Four, Yellow Face's Warehouse is shown with the original sign even though Yellow Face and Price Tag changed the sign back in "The Power of Four".
- At 25:00, when Loser's going through Four's memories to see Winner again, he sees the challenge in "Bottle For Dream Island" where Winner is eating the Loser-O's. This wouldn't make sense because Loser is looking through Four's memories, yet Four wasn't there during the challenge.
- However, it could be that it works just like time travel, where one could be sent to the time period when the memory happened, but still see things that weren't remembered by the person whose memories are being explored. This would explain how characters are free to explore wherever they want instead of being forced to stay near the memory holder.
BFDI Mini[]
As seen in "Seasonal Shift", BFDI Mini is canon to the timeline.
Deluxe[]
- Black Hole sucks in Mocha for their elimination despite his death prevention.
- This could be a different black hole.
Seriously![]
- The moon is shown to be in space despite how it was relocated to being in contact with the Earth's surface in "Questions Answered", which had stayed there since.
Replicas[]
- All of the contestants in BFDI Mini Replicas have the BFDIA limbs in 2024, while the rest of the TPOT contestants have hand-drawn limbs. This even happens to the actual versions of Blocky and Tennis Ball, who appear in the finale, despite being in the BFB/TPOT style in all other canon present-day appearances.
- This will likely have an explanation later, as "Start the Shift" showed Tennis Ball and Golf Ball researching on the change in art style.
Natural[]
- Evil Leafy appears in a few episodes of this series despite BFB-onwards suggesting that she does not exist anymore.
- The Evil Canyon's bridge is shown repaired at the start of "Balance Off the Evil Canyon", despite having been broken in "Get Digging".
General plot holes[]
- There are cases throughout the series where Snowball, Ice Cube, and other frozen characters haven't melted in cases where they would have in other episodes.
- Firey's tangibility seems to vary by episode. Sometimes he can be physically touched, such as the numerous times Coiny has slapped him, but on other occasions, things pass through him since he is made of air, such as spike balls from the Revolutionary Headphones harmlessly passing through him in Well Rested.
- A few times in BFDI, before the Master Recovery Center was revealed, contestants without personal recovery centers would die and be back instantly (as in the opening sequence of "Don't Lose Your Marbles" and bonus points challenge in "Half a Loaf Is Better Than None"). However, "Reveal Novum" implies that the MRC was not created offscreen, as the TLC contestants worry about drowning as if it is permanent (and the recovery issues for trapped contestants in IDFB were not established yet).
- It was once mentioned by Cary Huang that recovery centers may not be able to revive contestants trapped in the TLC, however this itself was contradicted once in BFDIA. It's also likely that the characters are just scared of death in general due to it being a painful experience.
- Character changes sometimes persist when being recovered, such as Bomby being purple, and Pin being limbless, faceless, small, or with a Mech-Suit. This could be explained by Cake at Stake prizes persisting while changes caused by other means do not. This does not, however, explain why Woody hasn't been recovered with his missing chunk.
- Even outside of prize changes, character changes via paint are also inconsistent. Gaty keeps her periwinkle paint job every time but Tennis Ball loses his pink color in BFDIA 9.
- This might depend on the character's intentions.
- In BFDIA, Black Hole does not simply float out of the TLC, even though there is nothing stopping him.
- It is possible he does not because it would give him a criminal record much like Ice Cube.
- It's also possible that trying to destroy it from the inside could risk killing the others. He may or may not have been concerned about preventing death at this point, but still.
- In BFDIA, Pin is simultaneously portrayed as being unable to catch things due to being limbless, and being perfectly capable of carrying items despite being limbless.
- In IDFB, if TV's key to the Locker Of Losers is extracted from the TLC, everybody in there would be freed instantly, instead of having to wait. However, none of the remaining characters consider this.
- Something that should be taken into consideration, however, is that IDFB was produced prior to BFDIA in real life meaning the key hasn't been thought up by the producers at the time. It's also to note that IDFB currently only has one episode, meaning the key will likely brought up in future episodes.
"We are all the way in Southern Goiky. We’re miles from the hotel!"
- Something that should be taken into consideration, however, is that IDFB was produced prior to BFDIA in real life meaning the key hasn't been thought up by the producers at the time. It's also to note that IDFB currently only has one episode, meaning the key will likely brought up in future episodes.
- The location of the Grasslands is very inconsistent throughout the series. Pen says it's NOT in South Goiky in "The Seven Wonders of Goiky" and this is further proven by the Yoyle Mountain, also from North Goiky, being seen very close to it (and officially confirmed in "The Power of Four" when all the contestants' maps show the grasslands on the same piece of land as Yoyleland). However, in "The Great Goikian Bake-Off" and "What's Up Bell's String?", the contestants are easily able to walk over to the Evil Forest from the grasslands, despite that being in South Goiky, and the two regions are separated by an entire canal. Additionally, in episodes such as "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset" and "Enter the Exit" there's proof that the Grasslands are in a specific continent due to the way the Earth appears in relation to the contestants' location. However, in "Catch These Hands" that same continent is shown to represent the Plains instead with Yoyleland being put somewhere else entirely. "Gardening Zero" also shows Yoyleland being put on a different continent despite previous evidence that the biome is meant to be very close to the Grasslands.
- In BFDI:TPOT, Yoyleberries make appearances despite BFB suggesting that they do not exist anymore.
- This idea was likely scrapped due to former showrunner Satomi Hinatsu leaving the show in 2022 and BFDIA continuing as well.
- It has been established multiple times that the characters can stretch their limbs to absurdly immense lengths, but they rarely use this to their advantage when that ability could prove useful in a challenge.
