The episode begins with the flying Locker of Losers. Basketballs start falling from the sky, causing it to shake, while Pen and Eraser are seen operating the LOL's crank. Balloony looks out the window, relieved that they managed to avoid the basketballs, and everyone cheers. Fanny expresses her hate for flying, and Eraser responds, noting that it’s easy for her to say since she wasn’t cranking. Fanny retorts that she wasn’t cranking because she doesn’t have arms. Snowball then attaches the crank to her face, causing it to turn automatically but also inflicting pain on her. Fanny screams in agony as everyone cheers, but Barf Bag, seeing the situation, tells Snowball not to hurt her and steps in to crank it herself.

Balloony spots a large spire outside and remarks on its size. Lollipop comments that it’s huge, much like Balloony’s own inflated noggin. Balloony then notices a bunk bed at the top and Lollipop advises him to steer clear of it. Barf Bag concurs with Lollipop’s advice. Outside, Golf Ball and Tennis Ball are observing a cloud. TB says it looks like a snowball, noting that he isn't blind, and GB thinks it resembles her enormous brain. Just then, the LOL flies through the cloud, causing it to vanish. Meanwhile, Coiny gets frightened by a group of bugs, but Bomby reassures him, explaining that the bugs are their hosts and they are saying it is time for Cake at Stake is about to begin.

Cake at Stake[]

After the new jingle, a memorial poster for Pan Flute is shown. The bugs start speaking in Bug-ese, which Nickel can’t understand, but Golf Ball uses her Yoyle-straw to translate them. As the bugs begin speaking in English, Nickel is impressed but is quickly silenced by a Poison Bottle, who comments that Nickel’s reaction was "so rude". Nickel, puzzled, asks what she means, pointing out that she and the other recommended character bought tickets to watch the Cake at Stake. Poison Bottle, realizing this, backs away.

The bugs prepare to reveal who got the most likes, and Bomby is very excited. However, Pin received the most at 35,773. Coiny congratulates her and takes her to the stand so she can spin the wheel. Fries gets impatient and insists she spins it already, but she can’t due to her lack of limbs. Since Pin won't spin the wheel, her default prize will be excruciating pain for 2,763 years, which amuses Fries, but Coiny stops him and expresses his frustration with Pin always being the target of people's jokes. He decides to spin the wheel himself and intentionally stops it at "Regain your face, size, and a State-of-the-Art Mech Suit."

Suddenly, Pin is levitated into the air and begins to shine beams of light. W.O.A.H. Bunch begin to chant: “Pin shall rise!” and "Return of the WOAH!" as she transforms back to her (almost) normal self. As this transformation occurs, Ruby (still being portrayed by her sisters) mentions feeling uneasy. Pin finally regains her face and size and is thrilled, though she briefly thinks she also has her limbs, before realizing she has wheels. She also guesses they put her face on the wrong side; Nickel sarcastically remarks that Pin could get her brain back too. Bomby then presses a button on Pin’s mech suit, turning her around to face the correct way. Pin thanks Bomby for fixing it, and the W.O.A.H. Bunchers lift her into the air, celebrating her return.

Coiny then asks what she wants to do now that she's back with Pin replying that she wants to take down Freesmart. The scene shifts to Freesmart quivering in fear. Book gulps and Pencil tells her team to run and try to escape through the door, but it turns out locked and a bug poisons Pencil for not obeying "Cake at Stake etiquette". Book shows the most concern while Needle turns out sarcastic about Pencil's death. So for revenge, Book decides to squash the bugs using Spongy so no one else gets poisoned. Ruby gets confused while Book gets a remote and clicks a button that reads "Eliminate Spongy".

The scene shifts to Spongy relaxing at the beach, then suddenly being flung into the auditorium. Meanwhile, the bugs begin to display the votes for dislikes. Coiny and Pin are the first safe, the former giving the latter a high-five. Pin is thrilled to have made it to the final 10. Tennis Ball is also declared safe, getting poisoned cello, and makes a joke about it that (somewhat) impresses Golf Ball who gives the joke a rank of C+.

The lead bug reveals that between the final four, the lead changed hands at least three times and they all received over 10,000 dislikes. They call them "repulsive dislike magnets," which Fries finds ironic, while Nickel disagrees with the description. Nickel is considered nice and declared safe, which makes him happy. Fries is referred to as mean but is also safe. Bomby realizes he’s in the bottom two with Golf Ball and reflects on how he’s used to winning prizes. Golf Ball asks Tennis Ball to calculate her chances of being safe, and Tennis Ball reports a 9.090909 repeating percent chance. He then asks if she’s nervous, noting that she used to enjoy doing the math herself. Golf Ball responds that she was just verifying.

As the votes are slowly revealed, Book and Ruby look for sugar in the kitchen and find dozens of gumdrops. Book tells Ruby to place them where Spongy will land, the latter placing the gumdrops in the desired and calculated spot, the middle of the stage. Some bugs group around them, and Book tells Ruby to keep going. Soon, all the bugs are gathered around a mountain of gumdrops, and FreeSmart backs up. Spongy eventually lands and crushes all of the bugs, causing the results to be postponed. FreeSmart is relieved, but Tennis Ball is worried. Golf Ball, saying they have been through this before, grabs the bugs' phone and tells the bugs' most recent contact to host. The phone lists the caller as "My next meal", which confuses Tennis Ball.

Meanwhile, in the LOL, it is revealed that Barf Bag answered the phone. She gets distracted and stops cranking, causing Bracelety to panic. She warns her to not forget about it and seconds later, the LOL suddenly begins plummeting. Spongy hears this, his face turning to his back, and finds he is about to be crushed by the LOL. He snatches the phone, annoying Golf Ball, and tells Barf Bag to start cranking, so she begins cranking again to keep the LOL airborne just in time. Fries, gossiping about this, calls Barf Bag, who is his "bestie", which and distracts her again. Coiny recognises the voice as Barf Bag's and is left confused, when suddenly, Spongy is crushed by the LOL.

Bomby, upset, tells everyone to stop dying and points out that they still don't know who's been eliminated. Tennis Ball suggests that Barf Bag should host since she picked up the phone. She pushes Lollipop and Match aside to get to the window, expressing her willingness to take on the role. The votes reveal that Golf Ball has been eliminated, Bomby narrowly surviving. Golf Ball is confused by her elimination, and Tennis Ball is upset. Match shoves Barf Bag aside and remarks that Golf Ball's elimination will be satisfying. Golf Ball tells Tennis Ball to keep inventing things and win this for both of them as a giant golf club descends from the ceiling, ready to launch poor Golf Ball to the Weak Trembling Fortress. Golf Ball is flung into space, falls through a golf hole, and eventually lands in the WTF. There, she is greeted by Gelatin, who is thrilled to see another Team No-Name member, much to her irritation.

Match instructs the contestants to spin the wheel for the next contest. Book and Ruby are delighted to see her, but Barf Bag pushes Match aside, insisting that she is the host, not Match. She protests, saying she needs to do this for FreeSmart and that she just wants to see Pencil. They argue over who should host until Coiny suggests that everyone in the LOL should host together, to which they all agree to. Pie redirects their focus back to spinning the contest wheel, and Ruby excitedly gives it a spin. Suddenly, Pan Flute appears from behind the curtains, and everyone is shocked to see him. He looks at his memorial and announces that he's not dead. Orange is surprised to see Pan Flute alive but remarks that the poster was expensive. They then tear Pan Flute apart, effectively killing him, before starting to throw his pipes at the cheering audience, one of whom begins to play it as Orange dances. An annoyed Pillow tells everyone to stop murdering each other, and insists she would never advocate for such behaviour.

After the intro[]

The wheel spins and lands on "Get to the Bunk Bed." Ruby is confused about what this means until Balloony points to the bunk bed at the top of the spiral. Bottle explains that due to the limited number of beds, they will need to split into pairs and work with their partner to win. Coiny quickly turns to Pin and asks if she wants to team up, to which Pin happily agrees. Ruby wants to stick with her entire team, but Eggy informs her that the rules specifically state they must be in pairs. Ruby is disappointed but eventually decides to partner with Book, as Pencil is dead and Needle is a rookie. Needle sarcastically thanks Ruby as she is given Pencil's dead body.

Meanwhile, Tennis Ball is uncertain about whom to team up with due to Golf Ball's absence. Nickel volunteers to be his partner, noting that he and Golf Ball share the same shape and limbs, and Tennis Ball reluctantly agrees. Nickel is appreciative of Tennis Ball's acceptance. Bomby realizes that since everyone else is already paired up, he is automatically teamed with Fries, whom he refers to as "the kidnapper" because of a recent event. Fries reminds him that Bomby literally tried to murder him, but they still get paired anyway. Snowball asks if everyone has formed teams, and they all confirm in unison, allowing the challenge to begin.

Contest[]

The contestants hop on top of the LOL and are flown to their destination. Puffball announces their arrival, and the BFDIA contestants disembark. Taco further explains the contest: the duos must complete mini-challenges across five floating islands before advancing to the bunk bed at the top of the spiral to win immunity. Bottle advises them not to slow down, as a certain someone doesn't like trespassers. When Book asks for clarification, Bottle dismisses it as a silly question before adding that the last team to reach the bunk beds will be sleep-deprived and up for elimination.

Nickel points out that this means only two people would be in danger, noting how few that is, and Tennis Ball wonders how they will reach the first island. Cloudy asks who posed the question, and Tennis Ball replies that he did, adding that he is the only ball with lines. Basketball, also a ball with lines, rudely tells him to figure it out himself before counting down the start of the contest. The LOL prisoners watch as the BFDIA contestants quickly make their way toward the spiral. During the race, Pin tells Coiny that she's glad to have wheels because they help them win. However, Coiny corrects her, pointing out that they are actually losing and that the others are far ahead of them.

Meanwhile, Fries tells Bomby to climb the spiral. Bomby responds that he isn't Fries' servant and insists that Fries should climb instead. Fries refuses, and they are quickly surpassed by Book and Ruby. Book instructs Ruby to go for the wires, and Ruby is delighted to have reached them first. At the same time, Needle struggles to carry Pencil alone, which frustrates Book. Ruby recalls the time when Pencil mentioned that if she ever died, she could be buried in the FreeSmart Super Coffin, which has a rocket engine attached. Book is confused by this idea, but Ruby presses a button, launching the coffin toward Needle and Pencil. Ruby instructs Needle to put Pencil inside, and when she does, Ruby presses another button, sending Needle and Pencil to the first island, making them the first to arrive. Donut comes to the window of the LOL and explains his island's challenge to them. Needle remarks she hasn't heard Donut since the days he said, "No!" and Donut says that's him all right.

Book and Ruby have also reached the first island, along with Fries and Bomby. Bomby faints, and Fries blames it on a sugar crash. Donut welcomes the second and third teams to his island, remarking that it's been a long time since they've last seen each other. Ruby agrees and takes a bite out of the island, calling it tasty. Needle explains the challenge to Book and Ruby, stating that they need to fill their jetpacks with fuel, but she can't find any. Book informs her that there's no fuel on Donut's island, only cherry filling, and Needle understands. They begin to fill their respective jetpacks with cherry filling while Ruby eats it. However, she digs too deep and eventually reaches the bottom of the island, causing her to fall off. As Ruby is about to fall and presumably shatter, Book extends her arm and pulls her back to the island.

Concurrently, Coiny and Pin are still climbing the vines, and Coiny is excited to be competing with her again. Pin expresses her desire for revenge, but Coiny quickly warns her about her power cable. The cable disconnects, causing Pin to freefall to the bottom and break her mech suit. Coiny pulls out his phone and orders 2,763 extension cables from Yellow Face's warehouse. However, in the process, Yellow Face appears on Coiny's phone and makes a "Wonderful" Noise, causing Coiny to lose his balance and fall to the ground.

Back on the island, Tennis Ball and Nickel arrive, and Tennis Ball quickly builds an oil rig to extract as much cherry filling as possible. The duo comedically high-fives, but Nickel is unsure how to contribute. Tennis Ball suggests he use the Yoyle straw to suck the pollution out of the air, and Nickel does so. As the oil rig finishes extracting the cherry filling, they quickly board the jetpack to advance. Ruby expresses her desire to use the oil rig as well and places it into her jetpack. Donut is surprised to see the only armless team rapidly advancing to first place. He congratulates them on their success, and Tennis Ball thanks him, noting that he hasn’t heard from Donut in a while and acknowledging that he’s not a bad host.

Fries is surprised to see that Tennis Ball and Nickel have already finished and urgently tries to wake Bomby. He feeds Bomby one of his fries, which excites him, and urges him to start digging. Bomby looks annoyed but, after being fed another fry, complies immediately. Ruby shows Book the now-filled jetpack, and Book remarks on how full it is as they prepare to advance to Island 2. Needle comments on how quickly Ruby and Book are progressing and wishes she had a living team member. Book assures Needle that she’ll discuss it with Pencil at the next Alliance meeting before departing with Ruby.

On the second island, Nickel and Tennis Ball arrive, and Nickel points out the large amount of anti-poison available. Tennis Ball asks who’s hosting the island, and suddenly the LOL shows up with Dora appearing. Dora greets them and instructs them to grab a pillow. Tennis Ball looks displeased to see her but reluctantly takes a pillow. Pillow, however, is excited to see another of her kind. Nickel questions how Dora could host the island when she eats them, but Tennis Ball quickly hushes him. Unfortunately, Dora overhears and becomes excited at the sight of the island. She starts bouncing around the LOL in excitement before landing and extending her jaw through the TLC. Nickel jokes she has "the munchies" before Dora bites a big chunk of the island. Tennis Ball finds her (jaw) as an unhinged host. Lightning reminds Dora that she can’t eat the island while she’s in the LOL, causing Dora to shed a tear. She sighs and announces that the challenge is to eat an island, and she will open the doors once they do. Nickel expresses his dislike for the challenge, and just then, Bomby and Fries arrive, and Bomby collapses onto the floor, the former blaming it on a sugar crash.

As Ruby and Book ascend to the next island, Book remarks on how they can see the view of the previous island from their elevated position. Suddenly, the jetpack starts malfunctioning, and Book asks Ruby if she's certain that the fuel she collected was pure jelly. Ruby replies that she thinks it was and mentions she got it from Tennis Ball's oil rig. Book explains that the oil rig was polluted. The jetpack then stops mid-air and they begin to fall.

On the first island, Needle has finished filling the jetpack and advances to the next island. On her way, she sees Book and Ruby plummeting and remembers she still needs to perform an act of sacrifice. She discards her jetpack, lands on the LOL, spins around it, and then takes off again. Meanwhile, Book and Ruby fall back to the first island and notice that Needle has left her jetpack behind. They try to catch it, but Pin and Coiny swoop in, seizing the opportunity to grab the jetpack and a towel before taking off. As they leave, Pin lends out a rude warning to them to think twice before shrinking her body. Book is bewildered at the event, and the duo decides to give up. They faint, and the sound of Evil Leafy approaching slowly can be heard.

On Dora's island, Fries tries to wake up Bomby, who eventually comes to and asks where he is. Fries instructs him to eat the island as Dora requested, but Bomby refuses, saying it sounds disgusting. Fries feeds Bomby a sugary fry, which makes Bomby immediately start munching on parts of the island, pleasing Dora. The gates to the next island open, but instead of using the waterfall to ascend, Bomby accidentally falls off the island instead and plummets to the ground, causing an explosion. Unhappy, Fries heads to the Pencil-Exclusionary Recovery Center to retrieve Bomby, and they use the waterfall to ascend.

Meanwhile, Nickel asks Tennis Ball if he wants to eat an island, but Tennis Ball can’t as he’s allergic to minerals, according to his doctor. Instead, Tennis Ball decides to season the island to make it more appetizing for Nickel. He hesitantly agrees and takes a bite, but spits it out due to the awful chemical aftertaste. Tennis Ball forces him to eat more, insisting that vegetables are good for him and that grass is basically a vegetable. Tennis Ball hears a noise and turns to see Duo 3 being flung through the air. They land on Dora's island, where Needle picks up a pillow and uses the anti-poison to help Pencil recover. Pencil asks where they are, and Needle explains that they’re on Dora’s island and that she is their team member. Due to the effects of the anti-poison, Pencil develops a strong craving to eat something and decides to eat a part of the island. Nickel explains this to Needle, who finds it weird. Dora opens gates to the next island. Pencil is surprised to see her still alive, but she angrily sends her away.

Bomby and Fries arrive at Teardrop's island and discover a pile of teddy bears. The LOL arrives shortly afterward, and Teardrop instructs them to get the chatterboxes to quiet down using sign language. Once they do, her cousins will give her a teddy bear as a thank you. Fries is initially confused by what Teardrop is saying, so Bomby explains it to him.

Back on Donut's island, Book is frustrated by their drop to dead last after having been so far ahead, and Ruby begins to lose hope. Suddenly, Evil Leafy arrives at the top of the island and starts chasing Book and Ruby around. They then notice a waterfall cascading from Teardrop's island and see that Pencil and Needle are using a pipe to help Book and Ruby advance toward Dora's island. Book is thrilled that they remembered them, and Pencil instructs them to swim up the stream. They follow the instructions, which helps them escape from Evil Leafy. As they climb, Ruby declares this as Freesmart's comeback of the century.

Pin and Coiny arrive at Dora's island, where Dora instructs them to eat an island. Coiny is taken aback by this and looks over at Tennis Ball and Nickel, who are struggling to eat their island. Nickel complains that it tastes bad, and Tennis Ball suggests it's probably because of all the gunk in his mouth. Tennis Ball then starts brushing his teeth. Back on Teardrop's island, Whistle is annoying Honeydrop, who is covering their ears. Bomby decides to cover Whistle's mouth with duct tape to silence them. Whistle rips off the tape and starts screaming.

Meanwhile, Ruby and Book reach the top of the waterfall and collect a pillow. They reunite with Pencil and Needle, and Ruby notices that FreeSmart isn't all back together. She pulls out a bubble blower, mentioning that they’re forgetting someone. Pencil gets what she means and blows into the bubble blower, bringing Bubble back to life, much to FreeSmart's excitement. Needle promises not to pop Bubble; the latter responds with gratitude but playfully calls the former "needy." Needle tries to slap Bubble, but the others hold her back, with Book reminding everyone that they need to stick together. They then use the waterfall to climb to the next island. However, Dora refuses to let Book and Ruby advance. Bubble asks Dora what she wants from them, and Dora explains that they first need to eat an island. Ruby claims she has already done that and shows a picture of "herself" (actually Sapphire) eating an island. Dora is skeptical, noting that the person in the photo is blue, so Ruby (actually Quartz) and Sapphire switch places in an attempt to trick Dora into letting them move on to the next island, which works.

Tennis Ball is still brushing Nickel's teeth, informing him that he’s only 2% of the way there. Meanwhile, Coiny is struggling to eat an island because it tastes like dirt. Pin decides to send it to the garbage disposal, which proves effective. Dora then opens the gates for them to proceed. Coiny carries Pin up the waterfall, but he gets electrocuted by Pin's mech suit. He swims the rest of the way to the top while holding Pin out of the water, surpassing Freesmart in the process. They arrive at Teardrop's island, where Coiny collects a teddy bear. Meanwhile, Whistle is still screaming until Fries submerges them in the water. Whistle then surfaces and throws Fries into the water in return.

Freesmart arrives next, and Bubble figures the island is Teardrop's. Needle and Book collect teddy bears, and Pencil expresses that she misses Teardrop. Ruby notices a Teardrop family reunion and suggests they check it out. At the reunion, Bubble refers to one of the family members as a "distinguished guest." Suddenly, Toilet Brush emerges from one of the cubicles and mentions that they've been cleaning toilets for years. The conversation continues until Ruby interrupts, telling them to be quiet and kicking them off the island. Teardrop's cousin then hugs her and presents her with a helium tank, while Needle receives a microphone. Bubble remarks that Teardrop’s cousin is glad to see the obnoxious brush gone. Needle is unsure what to do with the microphone, and Ruby is unsure about the helium tank. Pencil inhales some helium and starts imitating Ruby, saying she’s dumb and eats gumdrops. Ruby, annoyed by the antics, slaps Pencil. Bubble grabs the helium tank and starts blowing into it, inflating herself. The other Freesmart contestants cheer and grab Bubble's limbs as she floats up to the next island.

On Dora's island, Tennis Ball is still brushing Nickel's teeth, and Nickel notices Evil Leafy nearby. Tennis Ball reassures him that he’s almost done. Frustrated by the slow progress of the brush, Tennis Ball is relieved when Toilet Brush suddenly falls from above. Tennis Ball uses Toilet Brush to finish cleaning Nickel’s teeth, which results in cleaner teeth. Nickel then finally eats the island. Evil Leafy appears next to them, and they quickly flee. Dora comments on how long it’s taken them, but Tennis Ball and Nickel are too focused on escaping Evil Leafy to pay her much attention. They rush to the waterfall and swim up it, narrowly evading Evil Leafy.

On Teardrop's island, Fries and Whistle are slapping each other until Fries pins Whistle to the ground. Seeing Freesmart escaping, Fries becomes frustrated, and Whistle continues to ramble about random topics. At his breaking point, Fries kicks Whistle away, and Honeydrop rewards him with springy shoes. Bomby recognizes them as the shoes Bubble always wanted, and he uses them to jump to the next island. Just then, Pin steps out of the bathroom and Coiny spots a ship from the urban legend, where Teardrop was a pirate. Coiny asks Pin to take a photo of him with the ship, and Pin agrees. She pulls out a camera and starts to back up, but as she does, a recommended character appears, annoying Milkdrop. Pin accidentally runs over them, causing their demise, and then tells Coiny to say cheese. She takes the photo, but Milkdrop ruins it by hugging her, making Pin upset. Coiny asks to see the photo, but Pin passes it off for later and then mentions Milkdrop rewarded her with rockets they could use to reach the next island. Coiny presses a button on the rockets, and they are thrust upwards, surpassing the Freesmart teams and Duo 2 once again.

They arrive at the next island, and Coiny asks where they are. Match appears and explains that it’s her island, where they build matchsticks like herself. Coiny asks if that’s really true, and Match confirms. Pin repeats Match’s statement in a less enthusiastic tone. The Freesmart teams then arrive, and Match is thrilled to see them again. Coiny inquires about the challenge, and Match explains that they need to pick up a night cap. The challenge is to build a raft and use it to ride the volcano to the next island. She turns to Pencil, expressing that she hasn't seen her in ages and that they have so much to catch up on. Pencil, however, seems reluctant to interact and tells Match that she’s busy before walking away, much to Match’s disappointment.

Book and Needle acquire sleeping hats, while Coiny and Pin start building their raft. Their first attempt, made from matchsticks, burns down when placed on the lava. They rebuild it using metal but struggle with the construction. Bubble asks Match if they also have to build a raft, but since they are Match's best friends, Match decides to share a secret. She reveals that there is an extra raft in the shipwreck on Teardrop's island, which surprises Ruby.

Meanwhile, on Teardrop's island, Bomby and Fries are still trying to reach Match's island. Fries urges Bomby to jump higher. Back on Match's island, Pin insults the island, calling the smell rancid, which upsets Match. Coiny accidentally hurts his hand, and Pin tells him to be more careful. At the same time, Tennis Ball and Nickel arrive at Teardrop's island and collect a teddy bear. Suddenly, Bomby, using his bouncy shoes, jumps on Tennis Ball, squishing him. Nickel quickly returns to Dora's island to recover Tennis Ball, trying to avoid Evil Leafy. They swiftly leave and head back to Teardrop's island. Tennis Ball warns them not to kill him again, but they end up killing Nickel instead, forcing Tennis Ball to go back down and recover him. When Bomby and Fries land, Tennis Ball grabs Bomby and all three are launched to the next island.

However, Bomby pushes Tennis Ball and Nickel downward, causing them to plummet back to the beginning. However, Tennis Ball's bounciness helps them return to Teardrop's island. Nickel compliments Tennis Ball on his efforts, calling him "jiggleboy." Tennis Ball responds by telling Nickel not to call him that. Bomby and Fries successfully land on Match's island, and Bomby acquires a sleeping hat. Meanwhile, Pin approaches Match and insults her, calling her an "object with stupid ugly red hair." Match retorts that at least she isn’t a "pinhead." Coiny then informs Match that her friends are jumping off a cliff, but Match remains unbothered.

The LOL flies back to Teardrop's island, where Tennis Ball warmly greets Teardrop. Meanwhile, Freesmart is falling off a cliff. Tennis Ball asks Teardrop if she needs anything, and she points to Bob-Omb, who is bugging one of her cousins. Nickel realizes that Teardrop wants them to quiet Bob-Omb, and Teardrop confirms this with a nod. Tennis Ball and Nickel approach Bob-Omb, and Nickel flashes a bright smile, temporarily blinding Bob-Omb. Teardrop’s cousin then hugs Nickel and rewards him with angel wings. They use these wings to ascend to the next island, while Freesmart lands back on Teardrop’s island.

Upon arrival, Tennis Ball recognizes the island as Match's, and Pin and Coiny's raft is now complete. Before they can use it, Fries swoops in and steals the raft, leaving Pin upset. Fries dismisses her and departs with the raft. Bomby, determined to help, tears off a piece of the raft and throws it to Pin and Coiny, declaring that WOAH Bunchers must stick together. Coiny thanks Bomby, and he and Pin board the makeshift raft to continue their journey.

On Teardrop's island, Pencil gathers the group and asks for ideas. Book recalls that Match mentioned something about the shipwreck, so they decide to investigate the wreckage. They agree to search different parts of it. After searching for a while, they reconvene in the middle but have found nothing. Pencil then turns to Bubble for updates, who admits that she didn't search because she was too scared. The group look at each other, trying to figure out their next move.

On Match's island, Tennis Ball and Nickel are putting the finishing touches on their raft. Nickel asks Tennis Ball if he misses Golf Ball, and Tennis Ball acknowledges that it's sad but points out that the extra space has allowed him to improve his building skills. He proudly shows Nickel the finished raft. Nickel compliments Tennis Ball's efforts, and they head to the volcano with their completed raft. They join Pin, Coiny, Fries and Bomby, and all of them ride the volcano to the final island.

Fries and Bomby arrive at the 5th and final island and are greeted by Puffball, who informs them of their challenge: they need to sing a lullaby. Puffball also hands them a bedtime story, but both Bomby and Fries are taken aback when they realize their voices sound different due to the "Puffball Voice Effect." Fries toggles the setting off by pulling a lever to restore their normal voices. Fries is mad at Puffball and calls her a backstabber, but Puffball dismisses this, explaining the challenge further. If she enjoys the lullaby, the platform they’re standing on will rise to the bunk bed and they will win immunity. Bomby first sings a song about him exploding which does not amuse Puffball. Fries then sings about Puffball betraying Team No Name and him wanting to crush her, which Puffball also rejects. Here, Pin and Coiny arrive at the 5th island and collect a bedtime story. Pin criticizes Fries' song and takes over the mic. She then begins to sing an annoying song about her point being pointy.

Meanwhile, on the shipwreck island, Ruby urges the Freesmarters to explore the wreck despite their hesitation, asserting that they only live once. They discover a map on the wall indicating the raft is located underneath the ship. Pencil suggests leaving immediately, but their escape is thwarted when Evil Leafy appears and blocks the exit. The team frantically searches for another way out when Bubble notices a trap door. They try to open it, but the handle breaks off. Book uses Needle to force open the trap door while Evil Leafy gets closer to Pencil. Book quickly returns to save Pencil and they all escape through the trap door. As Book tries to get away, Evil Leafy blocks the trap door, trapping Book behind. Book spots a loose board and pulls on it, desperately trying to find a way out as Evil Leafy closes in. Outside, Pencil, Bubble, Ruby, and Needle make it out safely. Needle is relieved and happy to have escaped, but Ruby soon asks about Book. Pencil explains that Book made a noble sacrifice, but before they can move on, Needle spots Book emerging from the water. The group reunites with hugs, but Evil Leafy interrupts their moment, causing them to scream in fear. In response, Needle grabs the entire shipwreck and throws it onto Evil Leafy, effectively burying her under the debris.

With Evil Leafy dealt with, Needle notices the raft hidden under the shipwreck. The team retrieves it, ready to continue their journey. On Puffball's island, Pin continues singing, but Puffball finds the song atrocious. Nickel and Tennis Ball arrive, with Nickel picking up a bedtime story. Nickel starts the lullaby, and Tennis Ball joins in, but Nickel slaps him because the lullaby didn't sound soothing enough. Despite the mishap, the song somehow puts everyone to sleep, leading Puffball to let them pass. The platform rises to the bunk beds.

Nickel lets Tennis Ball go first, and they both climb into the bunk beds and fall asleep, making them the first team to be safe. After they fall asleep, Puffball declares them safe, and a speaker box below the bed briefly plays their lullaby from earlier. They then somehow fall off their beds all the way back down to the ground, possibly killing them. On Match's island, Freesmart return with the raft. Bubble informs Match that they’ve found it, and Match exclaims that Freesmart stays on top. Needle asks her what place they're in, and Match bluntly states that they are currently in last place. Pencil frustratedly replies with an "Oh." Ruby, Bubble, and Book begin to wail loudly before suddenly stopping. Ruby shows Match the raft, and just as they are about to prepare to say Bubble's catchphrase, Pencil lets Bubble say it herself. They all board the raft and proceed to the next island.

At the last island, Fries tries to write another diss track about Puffball. However, Bomby replaces all the negative words with positive ones to avoid rejection. Puffball listens to the revised track and declares that it has improved, allowing them to proceed. Bomby is pleased with their progress, and Fries suggests that maybe they don't need to kidnap or murder each other to succeed. Puffball instructs them to go to bed, and they comply, climbing into their bunks. The speaker box replays their lullaby, and Bomby and Fries are declared safe in second place. They then fall like Duo 1. This leaves the Pin/Coiny duo and the Freesmart teams in the bottom three.

Yellow Face makes a brief cameo before the scene shifts back to Puffball. Coiny turns to Pin, suggesting he should sing instead. Pin agrees, but just as Coiny is about to start his lullaby, Pin interrupts and begins singing her song from earlier, which Puffball promptly rejects. In the background, a hand can be seen holding a microphone towards Pin, trying to capture her voice, but nobody notices this unusual occurrence. Coiny insists it's his turn and starts singing about sheep, but Puffball rejects that as well. The platform flings them both away, and Puffball states that a team can't sing twice in a row if there are other teams are ready to perform their songs.

Pin is confused at this statement, as she thought there were no other teams left, but just then, Ruby appears. Pin is upset by this, but Ruby dismisses her before going on to perform her song. Book and Ruby, along with Pencil and Needle, collect their bedtime stories, and Pencil goes onstage to perform. Puffball eagerly anticipates the results, but Pencil has no idea what to sing. She turns to Needle, asking if she has any ideas, and Needle takes over, saying she has "something up her sleeve". As Needle sings, everyone is in awe of her voice, and Puffball even sheds a tear. Puffball calls the performance beautiful and allows them to pass, and the platform rises to the bunk beds. Pencil is happy to see that they won, and she hugs Needle, adding that she owes Needle a big one. They get into bed as Needle's lullaby plays, causing them to escape the bottom two.

After Pencil and Needle fall, Pin insists that it's their turn now and starts making her way toward the platform, but Book reminds her that her duo can't go until she and Ruby have performed their song, much to Pin's frustration. Book and Ruby get onstage, and Ruby tells Book that this is the perfect opportunity to remove their biggest rivals from the game, but Book is unsure what to sing. Bubble suggests singing "Spongycake" and starts playing it with Ruby, but the latter rejects the idea. Puffball starts to get impatient and tells them to hurry up because she doesn't have all day, and Ruby proposes she has a better idea.

She pulls out a microphone, which starts playing Pin's song from earlier, much to her horror. Puffball remarks that the song sounds familiar. Bubble tells Ruby that their plan isn't working, so Ruby switches the microphone to an autotune setting. Pin's anger grows as she calls the act unacceptable and says it ruins the game. Coiny attempts to calm her down, but the remix impresses Puffball enough to pass Ruby, Book, and Bubble. A furious Pin completely snaps and the enragement causes her mech suit to release a superpowerful electric charge that travels down the cord connected to all the previous islands, electrocuting them, and eventually reaching the spire's outlet. The charge travels up the spire, electrocuting the trio and, as a result, pops Bubble.

Towering over the still-electrocuted Ruby and Book, Pin declares that they’ve crossed too many lines—from removing her face, shrinking her body, not letting Ice Cube swing with her, and now having the gall to steal her song. She figures their name abbreviates to "FART" (FreeSmART) and declares that it’s time for them to feel her pain and gravity of the atrocities inflicted upon her. She shows no remorse in announcing that they are up for elimination. As soon as this is done, Ruby and Book freefall all the way to the beginning. Coiny appears confused by the situation, but before he can react, Pin sings a different lullaby which impresses Puffball this time. Coiny decides not to ask and the two of them hop into bed. Pin's lullaby briefly plays before they fall to the bottom as well. Puffball closes the episode as Duo 5 are up for voting.

After the credits, the scene shifts to the shipwreck on Teardrop's island. The camera slowly pans over the wreckage. As the focus narrows on a particular section, the shadows within the wreckage seem to shift, revealing Evil Leafy's eyes glowing ominously through a hole in the wall that was torn down earlier.

NickelTennisBallTeam
Tennis Ball uses his metal to fuzz glue to stick Nickel onto him. The two then take turns climbing up to Donut's island. Tennis Ball constructs an oil rig to quickly extract Jelly filling for their jetpack. Nickel then sucks in the smoke to make sure they can fly without any problems. Tennis Ball struggled to get Nickel to eat an island chunk, due to his dirty teeth. Tennis Ball then brushed it clean, and forced a chunk down Nickel's mouth. Nickel disintegrates Bob-Omb with his shiny teeth and gets rewarded with a pair of wings by Blooddrop. Tennis Ball crafts a raft that he and Nickel use to ride the volcano. Tennis Ball and Nickel sing a duet lullaby, that causes the other duos to fall asleep. 1st
BombyFriesTeam
Fries has Bomby eat one of his sugar fries to quickly scale up to Donut's island. Fries bribes Bomby with another of his sugar fries, causing the latter to dig up the jelly filling in a haste, and then take off. Fries uses another sugar fry on Bomby, allowing the latter to eat an island chunk. Fries had difficulty with silencing Whistle. In the end, he simply punts off the latter and becomes rewarded with the Springy Shoes by Honeydrop to leap to Match's island. Fries steal Coiny and Pin's raft to ride up the volcano. However, Bomby decides to tear off a chunk for the two to use. Fries sings a lullaby, lamenting his hatred for Puffball. However, Bomby substitutes lyrics that allows them to ascend to the bunk beds. 2nd
NeedlePencilTeam
Needle and Pencil used the FreeSmart Super Coffin, provided by Ruby, to blast off onto Donut's island. Needle collected enough jelly filling for her and Pencil's jetpack. However, when Needle finds that Book and Ruby's jetpack malfunction, she discards her own for them and propels herself and Pencil off of the LOL's propeller. Needle revives Pencil with a vat of Anti-Poison, causing her to eat the recommended character, Floating Island. Needle and Pencil don't actually do the challenge, instead joining the rest of FreeSmart in using Bubble to float to Match's island. Working with the rest of FreeSmart, Match tells them that she hid a raft on Teardrop's island. They eventually find it and use it to ride up the volcano. Needle sings a lullaby the amazes Puffball and the rest of the LOLers. 3rd
CoinyPinTeam
Coiny orders 2,763 extension cables for Pin, allowing them to climb up to Donut's island. However, this costs them a lot of time as the other teams have already advanced ahead of them. Coiny and Pin steal Book and Ruby's jetpack, that was provided by Needle, allowing them to bypass the difficulties of the island's challenge. Coiny shoves an island chunk through Pin's mech's garbage disposal. Pin unknowingly runs over and crushes Popcorn, then getting rewarded with rockets by Milkdrop. Coiny and Pin build a raft in which Fries steals after completing it. Fortunately, Bomby decides to help out his fellow team members by tearing off a chunk of the raft for them to use. Pin would sing a song about her point being pointy, annoying Puffball. When Ruby autotunes it and passes however, Pin electrocutes her and Book in retribution, and then sings Mary Had a Little Lamb. 4th
BookRubyTeam
Book and Ruby climb up Donut's island offscreen. Book and Ruby struggled with the island's challenge, as they used jelly filling from Tennis Ball's oil rig without removing the smoke, causing their jetpack to crash. Coiny and Pin then stole their provided jetpack from Needle. Needle and Pencil eventually use a waterfall from the following islands, for the two to swim up, before they get eaten by Evil Leafy. Ruby shows Dora a picture of her (actually Sapphire) eating a chunk of Dora's island. Dora becomes suspicious before Ruby changes her appearance, allowing her and Book to advance. Ruby shoves Toilet Brush off the island, and is rewarded a microphone and helium canister from Coffeedrop. FreeSmart then use the helium on Bubble to advance to Match's island. Working with the rest of FreeSmart, Match tells them that she hid a raft on Teardrop's island. They eventually find it and use it to ride up the volcano. Ruby used the microphone to record Pin's lullaby and eventually autotuned it. Although they passed and ascended to the bunk beds, Pin electrocuted them before they could get in, sending the duo plummeting all the way back down to the Evil Forest. 5th (UFE)

Trivia[]

General[]

  • This episode features the first chronological (coherent and distinct) speaking appearances of Cloudy, Lightning, and Pillow.
  • If you count the episode's meetup showing as the episode's premiere, this was the shortest wait time between two BFDI episodes ever, at only two days between BFDIA 13 and 14 premiering.
  • This is the first episode where a joint elimination occurs, with 3 teams up for the same Cake at Stake ceremony.
  • Bubble returns in this episode, 5 episodes later after "Catch These Hands,"
  • This is the first instance where the prize wheel has been manually stopped, as Coiny deliberately halts it on the result where Pin receives a mech suit.
  • The 14th word of this episode is “you”, so now the current secret message is “Don’t try that thing again, because it definitely won’t work this time. Instead, you…”
  • The GO Guys return in this episode when Basketball shouts "GO!", making their first appearance in terms of release date since the BFB episode "B.F.B. = Back From Beginning". Their last chronological appearance was "Insectophobe's Nightmare".
  • The teddy bear plushies return in this episode after their previous appearance in "Rescission".
  • With thirty-seven minutes of runtime, this is the longest episode of BFDIA to date, and the second longest episode overall, after Chapter Complete, running for forty-three minutes, a six minute difference.
  • However, if BFDIA 5 is considered to be a singular episode, it would beat out both this episode and Chapter Complete as the longest episode of BFDIA and the series respectively.
  • Pin is one the BFDI Characters to have an highly extreme outrage, the other one being Lightning from TPOT 7 where he got extremely upset at being eliminated and that His team was only focused on preventing death instead of winning challenges and then gets extremely enraged and zaps several places in Goiky. In chronological order Pin is the first one to have super powerful outrage and then Lightning.
  • This episode's runtime, 37:26, contains all the digits of the series' most recurring number, 2763; albeit in a completely different order. It's unknown whether or not this was intentional.
  • This is the first time Golf Ball gets eliminated by receiving the most votes. In "Lofty", she had the second most votes behind Rocky, who the Squishy Cherries chose over her.
  • This is the first BFDIA episode where Ice Cube only speaks via recycled lines since "The Long-lost Yoyle City".
  • When Balloony tells everyone that they have passed the falling basketballs and everyone else cheers, Barf Bag's animation is taken straight out of a Battle for BFB episode, style and all.
  • The order in which FreeSmart says which part of the ship they'll check to find the raft abbreviates to BFDIA. (Bow, Foremast, Deck, Inside, Afterpeak)
  • This is the second episode of the series to have the name of the episode change after release. The original title was “You’re a Filthy Friend”, which was changed to the current title shortly after being uploaded. The first was "Getting Puffball to Think About Rollercoasters", although this episode's change was simply a typo.
    • According to Cary in his reaction video, the title was changed due to him and Michael believing Pin's song would've been more memorable.
    • In the aforementioned reaction video, Cary states that another considered name was "Jiggleboy."
    • This is also canonically the first episode of the series to have a symbol (♫) in the title.
  • This episode is Michael Huang's first animation credit since said episode, about a year and a half prior.
  • The total dislikes has 4 fewer votes than the total of BFB 24’s votes.
  • This is Donut’s second time (chronologically first) being a host since Four Goes Too Far.
  • This is the first time Pin has been in a thumbnail of an episode since BFDIA 1, meaning she hasn't been in one for over 12 years.
  • This is one of many episodes that shows objects being capable of using the bathroom (when Pin was shown exiting the porta-potty on Teardrop's island, including a flush sound).
  • The order of the islands is based on the order in which their respective contestants were eliminated, starting with Donut and ending with Puffball.
  • As of this episode, Remote, Black Hole, and Firey Jr. are the only BFB contestants not to speak before the season itself starts (chronologically). However, this will most likely change in future episodes, as BFDIA will have 24, if a rejoin happens, 25, and IDFB will most likely have 40.
  • This is the second episode by release date and in-universe chronology where Golf Ball is eliminated.
  • During the time FreeSmart is inside the ship, Ruby does not shift into any of her sisters.

Continuity references[]

  • As the LOL is flying through the Evil Forest it gets hit by a storm of basketballs that appeared earlier in the beginning of "No More Snow!".
  • Snowball attaching the crank to Fanny at the start of this episode is a reference to Iance doing the same thing in "Why Would You Do This on a Swingset".
  • The pose Barf Bag makes when she and the other LOL's inhabitants cheer is the same pose she made in the BFB episode "Don't Dig Straight Down".
  • Lollipop is now heard speaking in her current voice used in BFB.
  • The entire section of the episode during the elimination and before the challenge is a repeat of the previous two episodes "Lots of Mud" and "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4". In the former, Spongy is flung by the Sender Scoop Thrower as an attempt to be sent to the Weak Trembling Fortress. However, due to his weight, he lands on Puffball Speaker Box, squashing and malfunctioning her. Later, Golf Ball contacts Flower and forces her to host. In this episode, it's all the same, except it's the bugs and Host Bug who get squashed by Spongy before Spongy too gets crushed by the Locker of Losers, and it's all of the LOL's inhabitants who are contacted by Golf Ball to be hosts.
  • This episode’s challenge and premise is similar to "Power of Three". In both episodes, small groups of contestants traverse across islands to win the challenge
    • Both episodes have the last team safe clearing by interfering with a team that met the intended conditions (Snowball's team pushing in front of Coiny's in Power of Three, Pin shocking Book's in this episode) so the latter would be up for elimination instead.
  • The bunk bed's resembles most speaker boxes, such as the Announcer, albeit colored orange-brown and being square instead of rectangular.
  • Golf Ball and Tennis Ball looking at a circular cloud, as well as Golf Ball saying "What do you think that cloud looks like?" is a clear reference to the beginning of "Lofty".
  • The scene with the voting graph is a reference to "Get in the Van".
  • During this episode's Cake at Stake, Book gulps the same way Woody did in "The Tweested Temple".
    • Golf Ball also calculates her chances of winning decreasing to 0.000%, like in "Lofty".
  • This marks the first time in the series in which the show's hosts get killed before it is announced who is eliminated.
  • Golf Ball gets launched by a golf club like in the BFDI Scholastic book announcement trailer and "Enter the Exit".
  • In addition, after the golf club launches Golf Ball, she makes the same screaming sound she did in "Take the Plunge".
  • When Nickel says "That was impressive!", a recommended character says "SHH! So rude!", as they did in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4".
  • Pencil commanding her team to run alludes to Gelatin doing the same thing in "Fashion For Your Face!".
  • Pillow calling for a halt to deaths after Orange kills Pan Flute would somewhat foreshadow Pillow's behavior in TPOT.
  • Tennis Ball calling himself the "only ball with lines" references Basketball's audition in "The Reveal".
  • Fries saying "Spin it already, Pin! We don't got all day." is a reference to when he told Teardrop to spin the wheel in "Zeeky Boogy Doog". Neither of them could spin it, due to Teardrop being poisoned and Pin lacking size, face, and limbs.
    • Additionally, Nickel's facial expression when sardonically asking if Pin could get her brain back is the same one he had in the same episode when he said he couldn't climb the Eiffel Tower.
    • Nickel also acknowledges his experience with the side effects of anti-poison after witnessing Pencil eat Floating Island, referencing how Teardrop ate him after being revived by Gelatin's anti-poison in that episode.
  • The ship that FreeSmart escapes Evil Leafy in is visually near-identical to the one that appeared inside Four in "Out Of The Blue".
    • It is possible Four has interacted with it sometime after this episode's events.
    • The waterfall from Teardrop's island references the same episode, as just like the Inverted Waterfall, objects are able to swim upwards in it.
  • When Tennis Ball builds an oil rig, the same sound effect from "Catch These Hands" when he builds a laser pointer is heard.
    • Additionally, the TPOT recovery sound is heard when the oil rig is done extracting jelly filling for the jetpack.
  • Fries continues his "get digging" trend with Bomby from the episode of the same name and "Taste the Sweetness".
    • Puffball saying "we're here" when the TLC/LOL is flown to the Evil Forest is a reference to the former episode as well as "Get Digging", when she, along with Gelatin and Needle, arrive in Yoyleland.
  • Needle and Tennis Ball use one of Donut's voice clips, "No!" (from “Get Digging”) when they describe how long it has been since they last heard from him.
  • Pencil yells "Run!" just like Ruby does in "Lots of Mud". Incidentally, both scenes involve FreeSmart running away from someone.
  • Bomby excitedly yelling "Prize! Prize! Prize!" alludes to his prize-winning streak from "Intruder Alert" and "Catch These Hands", as does his complaint about him being used to winning prizes when he is announced to be in the bottom two along with Golf Ball.
  • Ruby repeats her "We're flying! We're flying!" line from "Chapter Complete".
  • Bomby covering Whistle's mouth with duct tape possibly references "Take the Tower".
  • Pin tells Coiny to "be more careful" after he hits his hand while hammering the raft, much like she did to Firey in "Take the Plunge: Part 2". The audio of Golf Ball's scream when she is flung to the WTF by the giant golf club is also taken from that episode.
  • Pin and Match’s conversation where they say words like “Yeah.” and “Hey!” a lot is a reference to the Squishy Cherries Cake at Stake ceremony in “Sweet Tooth”, where they had a similar conversation.
  • One of the slices on the prize wheel is "Teardrop's vocal cords," a reference to the BFB episode "Getting Teardrop to Talk". The challenge wheel slice that says "Get Teardrop to talk" is another reference to that episode.
  • Needle's line "That rule doesn't apply to everyone" is a likely reference to a similar line she uttered in the BFB episode "The Liar Ball You Don't Want".
  • Tennis Ball calls Teardrop his “former Squashy Grape”, referencing their time as teammates from Season 1 (however, it was only from Take the Plunge Part 2 to Insectophobe’s Nightmare).
  • Toilet Brush stating that he has been scrubbing Yoyle toilets for years is a reference to "Catch These Hands", where Ruby mentions that she unclogs Yoyle toilets using similar movements to Pencil's rowing during that episode's challenge.
  • Pin's dialogue against FreeSmart consistently alludes to Get in the Van, Lots of Mud, Insectophobes Nightmare 4 and this episode as a reflection of the traumas she has endured.
  • Coiny's line "Now our raft is done" is a reference to a similar line he used in "Sweet Tooth".
  • The beach where Spongy is first shown in this episode had previously appeared in a summer-themed post on Jacknjellify's Twitter and Instagram accounts before making its onscreen debut in this episode.
  • Tennis Ball calls himself "the only ball with lines," which Basketball mocks him for. This is a reference to her audition from "The Reveal".
  • The FreeSmart Super Coffin is revealed by Ruby and is the fourth FreeSmart vehicle, with the first three being the FreeSmart Van, the SuperVan and the FreeSmart Rocket.
  • When Match tells FreeSmart about the hidden raft near the shipwreck on Teardrop's island, Ammolite makes the same surprised expression that Ruby made in "Lots of Mud" and "Welcome Back".
  • When Pencil, Needle, and Book start to say "Yoylecake" before Pencil interrupts and lets Bubble say the line, their body and mouth movements are the same as the latter's from "Gardening Hero" and "Return of the Hang Glider", which are also recycled for Bubble herself.
  • After Bomby throws half of his and Fries' raft towards Coiny and Pin, Fries shouts "Lame!", just like Tennis Ball did in "Intruder Alert".
  • Tennis Ball's glue is just his spit, referencing how saliva is adhesive in "The Reveal" and "The Liar Ball You Don't Want".
  • A low-pitched "snatch" sound effect plays when Coiny and Pin snag Book and Ruby's jetpack in slow-motion. The sound is also played in its normal pitch when Tennis Ball and Nickel grab onto Bomby before he and Fries resume bouncing onto Match's island.
  • Nickel barfs on Tennis Ball in the background, making him the fifth character to vomit, with the rest being: Rocky, Pin, Ruby and Pillow.
  • Bomby stating that W.O.A.H. Bunchers have to stick together is a reference to "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4", where Coiny says the same thing after Bomby tells him to throw Pin at Fries' fumigation backpack to prevent him from escaping.
  • Nickel's drool when attempting to eat an island is the same color as Leafy's when she ate an onion in "Get in the Van".
  • Coiny saying that he doesn't like eating an island because it is 90% dirt is ironic, since a characteristic he is well known for is his dirt cakes.
    • Pillow claiming that she would never advocate for killing is also ironic, given her personality in post-BFB, where she often expresses interest in killing others and causing death, usually for the sake of winning challenges or good luck.
  • One of the prize wheel slices says "An invite to Match's dance party," which is a reference to "Get in the Van".
  • There is an urban legend about Teardrop being a pirate, and this is supported in Teardrop's typewritten comic in "Who Stole Donut's Diary?".
  • Tennis Ball bouncing off the ground after falling from a great height references "Lofty" and "Get to the Top in 500 Steps"; He even assumes the same pose as in both episodes while rebounding.
  • Bomby repeatedly saying "Oh my gosh" extremely fast during his sugar rushes is a reference to "Lofty" and "Outbreak At Stake".
  • The lyrics in Needle's song "You dreamed a dream where no one called you Puffy" reference how, similarly to Needle getting upset when she is called Needy, Puffball also gets slightly miffed when she is addressed as "Puffy," as seen in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 3".
  • Match being satisfied to see Golf Ball eliminated is a reference to how they were in the bottom two together in "Get in the Van", but Match was eliminated over Golf Ball.
  • Bomby refers to the Springy Shoes he receives from Honeydrop as "These are the Spingy Shoes Bubble's always wanted", which is a reference to "The Reveal".
  • The contestants running in the Evil Forest with Movement Proposition playing may be a reference to the intro of "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know". They are also running away from Evil Leafy, which could be considered to be the reverse of chasing Leafy.
  • A picture frame in the concert hall during this episode's Cake at Stake ceremony features stylized shapes representing Waffle, Lego Brick, and Tune, all of whom appeared as NPCs in BFDIA 5b.
  • Pin reacting angrily to Ruby and Book stealing her song is similar to how Golf Ball reacted to TV stealing a YouTube video for his second Cake at Stake song in "Intruder Alert".
  • Pencil inhales helium to sound like Ruby, which might be a reference to how Michael Huang used to voice Ruby but then got replaced by Cary Huang.
  • Coiny exclaiming "Now my raft is done!" references a similar line in "Sweet Tooth".
  • The part of Pin's revenge is a secret reference that is also a reference to Four's revenge in "Chapter Complete".

Cultural references[]

  • The teaser announcing this episode and Inanimate Insanity S2E15's same-day release references the "Barbenheimer" phenomenon (Barbie and Oppenheimer), calling the event "BFDIIIenheimer".
  • The dance that the Davids do in the new Cake at Stake song looks similar to the dance from Badgers, an old internet meme.
  • The Piano note that plays when Pan Flute’s memorial poster is shown is also used in asdfmovie2 and 4.
  • At 1:40, one of the reccommended characters, Nugget, is seen holding a sign reading "HELP ME". This is a reference to MaxDesignPro's Nugget videos.
  • The object show Animatic Battle, has multiple references made to it:
    • One slice on the prize wheel reads "A delicious gourmet meal", a recurring phrase from the show.
    • Bob-Omb (a contestant from Animatic Battle) appears as one of the chatterboxes on Teardrop's island, with Xander Archibald even reprising his role as the character. What's more, another recommended character, Yoshi Egg, looks nearly identical to the one from Animatic Battle, albeit armless.
      • The characters Bob-Omb and Yoshi Egg, from Animatic Battle, both stem from the Super Mario franchise.
  • Pin's triangular robotic wheels could resemble those of WALL•E from the eponymous Disney/Pixar film.
  • The golf hole floating in space may be a reference to the Strong Bad Email "mini-golf", which features a scene with a golf hole that's simply a levitating piece of ground in space.
  • When Ruby spins the wheel (7:30) a poster can be seen resembling an old flash game Cary made, “Get To The Top Although There Is No Top”.
  • Several challenges on the wheel have references:
    • "Jump off the Crappy Cliff and get to the water below" is an obvious reference to the very first episode of Inanimate Insanity.
    • "Turn into a marketable plushie" is a reference to a meme trope where a character protests being turned into a marketable plushie, but gets transformed into one against their will.
    • As stated above, "A delicious gourmet meal" is a recurring line from Animatic Battle.
    • "Survive the Natural Disasters" may be a reference to the Roblox experience "Natural Disaster Survival".
  • Another Roblox reference may be the overall appearance of the challenge where a colorful tower has to be climbed and the top has to be reached to win, which is also the entire point of tower-type obstacle courses, or "obbies".
  • Bomby, Fries, and Book all make the iconic "death pose" popularized by Family Guy in this episode: Bomby after experiencing a sugar crash, Fries when he falls from Dora's island, and Book after giving up.
  • When Dora notices her island, a gold move sound effect from Just Dance is heard.
  • The way Nickel and Coiny hesitate to eat an island chunk somewhat resembles the scene from the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Just One Bite", in which Squidward hesitates to take a bite out of a Krabby Patty.
  • On Teardrop's island, the teddy bears have a brown, panda, and white color scheme, a reference to the three main characters in Cartoon Network show We Bare Bears. Although the episode takes place in 2014, meaning that We Bare Bears wasn't released until next year.
  • Match's island contains a sign saying "[...] Icarus's wings do not function in this musty factory air.", referencing the Greek myth of Icarus and Daedalus.
  • The scene where Pin, Coiny, and the FreeSmarters say each other's names until Ruby butts in and says her own name is a reference to a scene from Shrek 2, as well as the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Enemy-in-Law".
  • The lyrics of Coiny's "lullaby" are a reference to the Dr. Seuss book "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish."
  • Needle's lullaby is likely a reference to the song "I Dreamed a Dream" from the 1980 musical Les Misérables.

Differences between the meetup version and the release version[]

  • There are more LOL characters inside the LOL in shots.
  • Fries tells Pin to spin the wheel in his seat in the meetup and on the stage in the final.
    • As a result, the gasping scene has different characters in different positions.
  • As Pin regains her size and face, the effects are different.
  • Book's line "Oh, if the bug are gonna kill us, then we gotta kill the bugs! With Spongy!" was originally "We gotta show the bugs who's boss! And I have just the tool for that!" in the meetup version.
  • There are Bubbly Pop sodas around Spongy.
  • The bugs do not carry the voting chart between the final 4 up for elimination.
  • There is no split screen when the host bug says, "You repulsive dislike magnets."
  • There is a white line in the meetup version, but a black one in the final.
  • As Book gathers sugary stuff, her line was originally "We need to get every bug on EARTH in the same spot! Grab as much sugar as you can!", and was changed to "For Spongy to kill the bugs, we need them ALL in one place! I heard they like sugar." in the final.
  • Ruby calculates where the bugs will fall in the meetup, but not in the final.
    • However, the last few frames of the animation are in the final.
  • The bugs are more active towards the gumdrops in the final.
  • When Barf Bag says, "Let's reveal the votes!," the camera now zooms out.
  • When Golf Ball is revealed to be eliminated, Bomby does not leave the camera in the meetup version and he does not sweat.
  • In the same moment, the camera switches to Barf Bag sooner in the meetup.
  • The last shot of Spongy falling has a different angle in the final version, where his face is more visible.
  • There is a 3D shot of the contest wheel spinning.
  • The icons at the top left during the challenge only show their positions in the challenge relative to each other, instead of their actual progress throughout the islands.
  • The icon at the top left during the challenge is different, where in the final it shows the islands and the teams progress to each other instead of the ranks in the meetup version.
  • There is a new shot that pans from the blankets to Teardrop's Island.
  • There is a new shot of Donut greeting Duos 2 and 5 in the final.
  • Tennis Ball revealing his oil rig is in a different angle.
  • FreeSmart is in the background more often in the final.
  • Donut saying Duo 1 soars to first place has a much wider shot and Duo 1 are seen flying in the final.
  • TB talking to Donut also has a wider shot.
  • Evil Leafy does not move as often, and there is fewer darkness and effects.
  • Pillow leaves the window after saying "Fascinating!" in the final.
  • Nickel wondering how Dora can host an island is in a different angle.
  • The shot of Dora's eyes glowing has a different angle.
  • Dora moves far quicker and blurrier in the meetup version.
  • There are different shots in the TLC as this is happening.
  • Book and Ruby now loop-de-loop when their jetpack begins to malfunction.
  • The scene where Needle sacrifices her jetpack is reanimated.
  • There is a new shot of Evil Leafy.
  • The camera now zooms out and pans when Duo 4 rapidly climbs in the final instead of having another shot.
  • There is a wider shot of Book and Ruby trying to catch Needle's jetpack.
  • When Coiny and Pin snatch the jetpack, it instead attaches to Pin's back and Coiny grabs a blanket from the same shot, whereas in the meetup, her point goes through one of the holes in a different angle and closeup shot and Coiny grabs the blanket from a separate shot.
  • As Pin says "Next time, think twice before shrinking my bodyyy!", the current of cherry filling following her jetpack has different effects.
  • Fries trying to wake Bomby up on Island 2 has a wider shot in the final.
  • Dora goes in front of Bomby to pass Duo 2 in the meetup instead of staying put in the final.
  • As Duo 2 goes to the waterfall, Duo 1 is seen running in circles in the final.
  • Needle and Pencil arriving at Island 2 has a different angle.
  • Needle talking to Pencil on Island 2 has a longer zoom out in the final.
  • The door opens to Duo 3 quicker in the final.
  • There are 2 extra shots in between Teardrop giving a thumbs up and Fries saying "So, you want us to..." in the meetup version.
  • Ruby does not keep running after pointing in the meetup version.
  • Needle and Pencil giving thumbs up was originally in a text bubble.
  • Duo 5 swimming up is longer in the final.
  • Duos 3 and 5 hug in the final.
  • There are more background characters in the shot where Ruby gives the bubble wand to Pencil.
  • Needle is absent from the shot where Bubble returns.
  • Tennis Ball saying "Only 2% of the way there!" has a different angle.
  • There is a longer shot of the Teardrop family reunion.
    • Pencil and Ruby are switched in the shot between the two versions.
  • The shots of Toilet Brush and TD's cousin are conjoined.
  • When FreeSmart check different areas of the ship, there are circle boxes with each member in the final.
  • Tennis Ball and Nickel's ship changed color from black to green (possibly confirmed by DanDaMiniFig's storyboard video)
  • Duos 1, 2, and 3's cloud rising has a wider shot.
  • Pin talking to Fries on Island 5 has a different angle.
  • There are more new mouth assets.
  • Needle's lullaby is longer with music, and her voice is autotuned.
    • The original version can still be heard after she and Pencil climb into bed.
    • There is also different music in some scenes throughout the episode.
  • The scene of Pencil hugging Needle is reanimated, her line was also changed from "I knew you were worth it, Needle!" to "I owe you a big one, Needle!"
  • In the meetup version, after Duo 5 wins, only Ruby says, "Yay!" In the final, Book and Bubble also say, "Yay!"
  • Book's line "The scary Pin thing is gone!" is replaced by Bubble's "Yoylecake!"
  • The shot where Pin electrocutes the islands in the final is a far longer scene in 3D where only the cord and pole gets electrocuted instead of the islands in the meetup version.
  • Michael announcing the GB, TB, and Evil Leafy plush is added to the final's credits.

Goofs[]

  • At 0:08, the only TLC/LOLers shown are Pen and Eraser. Others disappeared.
  • At 0:27, Fanny's blades are dislocated from where they should be on her body.
  • At 0:50, Tennis Ball's lines are misaligned from his body.
  • At 1:04, when Coiny says "BUGS!!!", his mouth is not open for a split second.
  • At 2:27, when the screen zooms in on the prize wheel, the curtain behind it turns a slightly lighter shade of red.
  • At 2:52, Pin says her face is on the wrong side, when it was clearly on the right side in the last shot.
    • Furthermore, it looks like Pin has simply turned around.
    • And in the next shot with Pin, her cord is on the other side of her where her face is before Bomby turns her around.
  • At 4:39, the bar over the 9 should also be over the 0, since the fraction repeats both 0 and 9.
  • At 6:17, Barf Bag's phone has Fries' phone's text instead.
  • At 6:25, the LOL is in the center of the stage. In every other shot, it is to the left.
  • At 7:25, Pie and Match can be seen outside of the glass window of the LOL instead of behind it.
  • At 9:50, just before Ruby pans into view, she can be seen as her usual red for a frame before turning into Gold.
  • At 11:46, Fries regains his fries while climbing up Donut's island with Bomby despite taking out two of them in the previous scene; however, this is corrected once he and Bomby get onto Donut's island.
  • At 12:00, two of Fries' fries disappear for one frame right before the shot changes to the next one.
  • At 15:40, a pillow is given to Fries without anyone actually touching it.
    • Same at 18:12 with Needle.
  • At 17:27, the "Pencil-Exclusionary Recovery Center" text goes outside of the Recovery Center itself.
  • At 18:59, a second Teardrop is shown in the scene where Bomby explains the challenge to Fries.
    Fake teardrop

Youtube talking to the second Teardrop

  • At 21:32, Bubble is absent from FreeSmart swimming up the stream.
  • During Needle's lullaby at 33:03, her voice is incorrectly autotuned on the word calling, playing the 2nd syllable a note lower than the music (A# instead of B).
    • Also during the lullaby, the LOL's side window is centered instead of being on the bottom left.
  • Anachronism: This episode chronologically takes place in 2014, Animatic Battle wasn't released until 2024.

Deaths[]

  • Pencil was poisoned by a bug, but was revived by anti-poison when her and Needle reach Dora’s island.
  • The bug hosts were crushed by Spongy.
  • Spongy was crushed by the LOL.
