This article covers the revival of Battle for Dream Island Again, a topic widely discussed within the community due to the sheer length of the hiatus prior to the revival.
History[]
After the release of "The Long-lost Yoyle City" on August 1, 2013, Battle for Dream Island Again and the series itself went on a three-year hiatus due to troubles with the creators' handling of the show alongside working on school. When IDFB's first and only episode, "Welcome Back" premiered on September 1, 2016, BFDIA was confirmed to be cancelled.

Shortly before the release of IDFB, jacknjellify released scenes of what would've been the sixth episode of BFDIA. The video was titled BFDIA 6 Deleted Scenes and showcased small scenes of characters interacting. Only one scene was properly animated; the rest are still images with the characters' dialogue over them.
Ironically, IDFB was confirmed to be on hiatus after Battle for BFDI began production in 2017. At this point, many believed that BFDIA's sixth episode would simply never be seen. Small references to BFDIA's cancellation would be implemented in videos, such as Firey demanding that Michael release BFDIA 6 (and give him Dream Island) in "The Secret Behind BFB's Split", a video explaining the reason why Battle for BFB split.

The teaser posted on jacknjellify's community tab.
The show continued until Battle for BFDI split in "The Escape from Four", introducing a new season, Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two. Still, there was no information on BFDIA. However, some time after the release of "The Great Goikian Bake-Off", a teaser was posted on jacknjellify's YouTube community posts confirming that an episode would release on September 1, 2023. Many people speculated that this could have been IDFB 2 due to it being the Seven year anniversary of the first episode, and some believed it was a red herring and that it would simply be the next episode of TPOT. To the surprise of many within the community, Battle for Dream Island Again saw an official revival with the release of "Well Rested" on September 1, 2023, after over a decade of very little news about BFDIA.
Currently, the season is still running, now on its 20th episode, with TPOT now on its 18th episode.
The revival[]
Ever since BFDIA saw a revival, several differences and other notable things have occurred within the series with regard to the hiatus:
References and continuity[]
Notably, since the series is essentially being worked backwards, any continuity gaps that have been left between episodes have been explained within the episodes of the revival so far.
- In "Intruder Alert", TV is flung to the Locker of Losers and brought along the key that unlocks the LOL with him, explaining why he is not free in IDFB and why future eliminated contestants would not be sent to the TLC/LOL.
- In "Catch These Hands", Yellow Face trapped Purple Face in the box. In BFB 27, Purple Face said he was trapped there for 8 years, when actually it was 6 years.
- In "Taste the Sweetness", Gelatin asks Puffball Speaker Box not to tell the Announcer that he was eliminated, explaining why he was unaware of his elimination in "SOS (Save Our Show)".
References to the hiatus have also appeared scattered throughout episodes after the revival:
- In "Well Rested", Fries references the hiatus by remarking that it felt like "just yesterday" that the previous episode had occurred. Out-of-universe, it has been over ten years.
- In "Balancing P.A.C.T.", Rocky's elimination in "Intruder Alert" is referenced, as Book remarks that it is his third time being eliminated, as well as it being "so long ago". In contrast to Fries' remark, it has only been less than a month in reality.
Other differences[]
Since it has been over a decade since Battle for Dream Island Again went on hiatus, notable differences between quality are seen in the episodes.
- Most character assets are updated to the ones introduced in 2016 with IDFB.
- Voice actors are replaced with their IDFB and BFB voice actors. Notably, Gelatin is voiced by Ian Woodside, Ice Cube and Needle are voiced by Kenzie Bryant, Bomby is voiced by Satomi Hinatsu.
- Post-revival episodes are viewable in 4K 2160p. Prior to the revival, episodes were only viewable in 1080p.
- Animation is now done by a team instead of just Cary and Michael. Several differences in animation are observed to fit the style of modern BFDI.
The compilation video for Battle for Dream Island Again has also been updated - since it is a compilation of episodes 1 - 5e, it has been dubbed Season 2a. Following the format of the compilation videos for Battle for BFB, it can be assumed that the episodes after the revival will be dubbed Season 2b.
Predictions/speculations[]
Over the course of the revival there has been many predictions of what else could come between the rest of BFDIA and IDFB.
- Woody could join the supporting cast or even debut into the competition, explaining his appearance in IDFB.
- Firey's punishment could be either due to his actions towards FreeSmart in "Intruder Alert" or him recovering Leafy in “Well, Look Who It Is!”
- It is more likely to be the latter, as Gelatin wasn't punished like he was.
- Firey's punishment could be either due to his actions towards FreeSmart in "Intruder Alert" or him recovering Leafy in “Well, Look Who It Is!”
- At the end of the season, the host could announce that BFDIA has been running rogue ever since their sponsor left them at the end of BFDIA 5, making the hiatus split make more sense and creating a conflict out of it.
- Fries could end up losing each of his fries over the course of BFDIA, leading to him having only one fry remaining in "Welcome Back". This is supported by the beginnings of his fry-losing journey in "Taste the Sweetness", when Gelatin eats one of them and he eats another one of them. However, in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4", Fries was recovered with all of his fries.
Potential issues that may rise due to the revival[]
- The contestants won't be able to address anything that happens in post-hiatus BFDIA in BFB, the issue with this is that, if anything significant and new happens in BFDIA, then it will have no effect on the future until TPOT.
- It is possible for things from BFB to be retroactively referenced in post-hiatus BFDIA. Purple Face was shown to be trapped in a box in "Fashion For Your Face!", and in "Catch These Hands", Yellow Face trapping him in said box was shown on-screen.
- Certain things in Welcome Back may be accidentally contradicted or retconned throughout the season.
- A plausible excuse for this may be the events of The Shift.
- If the episodes of IDFB also follow the same formula of canonically taking place a decade before its actual release date, the development of IDFB will only have a timeframe of a year and two months, since the original IDFB started in September 2016 and BFB started on November 2017. So unless this idea is dropped or they secretly worked on IDFB ahead of time, this may cause some issues with the team and episode quality. IDFB might end up becoming the shortest season because of this.

Remnants of the original BFDIA 6[]
- Main article: BFDIA 6 Deleted Scenes
Because "Well Rested" is a rewrite of the old episode, it is unknown what BFDIA 6 (or any future episodes) could have been had it released in 2013.
All that is currently known about the old episode was that there seemed to not be a challenge. The contestants would find a home in Yoyle City as they were now considered residents of Yoyleland.
It is unknown if the Cake at Stake ceremony would have been held in this episode, however, there are existing source files that show that a Cake at Stake scene was animated for this episode.[1]
In "Welcome Back", it is confirmed that Puffball was eliminated with 1,455 dislikes. She is shown in the TLC in the intro.
