Luckily, we have a backup! The steam train is still here!

The Steam Train (also known as The Slowest Train Ever and later The Fastest Train Ever) is a train that first appears in "Fashion For Your Face!". It consists of a tank locomotive and an open-air coach that originally lacked a roof.

The train operates on the railway, which connects Yellow Face & Taggy's warehouse to both the Pillary Ruins and the Grasslands. It is capable of traveling over 2,763 miles.

Appearance[]

The Steam Train is a piece of railway equipment painted in a red and gold livery. The engine has a brass dome and a stove pipe funnel with a copper cap. It has gold stripes and boiler bands and a black buffer beam and foot board. On the back of the engine is a small black coal bunker. The engine has a wheel arrangement of 0-6-0; no leading wheels, six driving wheels, and no trailing wheels. Behind the engine is a red open-air coach (some may say it's a gondola, which is an open freight car) that lacks stripes. It has two sets of bogies each with four wheels. Initially, it had no roof, but due to the passengers falling from the coach while travelling upside down through a loop, Leafy added a roof on it to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Coverage[]

In "Fashion For Your Face!", the Have Cots use the Steam Train to travel to Yellow Face's Warehouse after Firey sets the High-Speed Express Train on fire.

In "Chapter Complete", with Four taking the High-Speed Express Train, X and the others use the Steam Train to return to The Pillary Ruins.

In "Fishes and Dishes", Team8s ride the Steam Train to Yellow Face’s Warehouse, which is 2,762 miles away from The Beach. The train features a sign labeling it "The Slowest Train Ever," which Barf Bag changes to "The Fastest Train Ever," causing the train to accelerate dramatically. After arriving at their destination, Needle tells Coiny to activate the magnet and then throws him, sending him flying in front of the train. The train speeds up again on its return trip.

In "The Power of Four", Yellow Face and Price Tag board the train to reach their new warehouse after explaining to Winner how they plan to regain their lost money after the purchase of the FreeSmart SuperVan.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being 200 years old, the Steam Train appears more like a 100-year-old locomotive, as locomotives from 200 years ago had a much more primitive design.
  • The tank locomotive is based on several British side tank locomotives with a wheel arrangement of 0-6-0, such as the LMS Fowler 3F and LB&SCR E2.
    • The tank locomotive also seems to heavily resemble an LNER J65.
  • The Steam Train is a replacement for the High-Speed Express Train, which was destroyed between BFB 23 and BFB 30.
  • The sound of the tank locomotive's whistle originates from Polson Logging Company No. 2; it was initially mistaken for the whistle of Canadian Pacific No. 1238. Outside of BFB, this sound effect is notably used by Sam, an American engine from the popular TV show Thomas & Friends.
  • Despite its generally slow speed, the Steam Train is capable of moving fast enough to traverse the loop-de-loops along the track.
