“ But in this next contest, teams temporarily will temporarily be temporarily formed (temporarily) within the teams, temporarily. That's why it's teams in teams. ”
 

Temporary teams (being Teams in Teams in BFDI 6) are teams that appeared in "Power of Three", "The Reveal", "PointyPointyPointy ♫", and "Spore Day". Those temporary teams were made due to the contest. The host splits up the teams into duos or trios.

Coverage[]

In "Power of Three", Announcer temporarily divides the contestants into 5 teams after noticing the Squashy Grapes have 9 members and the Squishy Cherries only have 6 members, calling it "teams in teams". The Squishy Cherries are split into two trios and the Squashy Grapes are split into three trios, with a total of five trios. He asks if everyone gets it, and Leafy replies "Yeah, I guess". The teams are chosen randomly by the TV.

The 5 teams must go over three islands in a sequence where they have to go across and do the challenges. Pen asks if one of them is Dream Island, but the Announcer cuts him off with a no. He states that all the team members that win first place will get Win Tokens, and the last team to arrive will be up for elimination through voting. To start, all team members have to cross a balance beam to get to the first island.

In "The Reveal", the final 8 has to divide itself into 4 pairs, which are Bubble and Pencil, Ice Cube and Leafy, Rocky and Spongy and Firey and Tennis Ball.

In "PointyPointyPointy ♫", the contestants divide themselves into 5 duos, which consist of Nickel and Tennis Ball, Bomby and Fries, Needle and Pencil, Coiny and Pin and Book and Ruby.

In “Spore Day”, the contestants divide themselves into 3 trios, which consisted of Coiny, Pin, and Bomby; Pencil, Book, and Needle; and Fries, Nickel, and Tennis Ball. Except as a twist, the teams were actually divided by the shape on their team mats, making the real trios Coiny, Pencil, and Fries; Pin, Book, and Nickel; and Bomby, Needle, and Tennis Ball.

Coverage[]

As there are 6 members on the Squishy Cherries and Bubble, Match and Pencil had already been paired up, Pen, Eraser and Firey are automatically paired up by the Announcer. The trio has a rough start when Firey falls into the water and his recovery center takes a while to warm up. Firey is eventually recovered. On Island 1, they find a safe with a raft on the first try and they manage to catch up to the other teams. On Island 2, Firey kicks down Snowball's stack and volunteers to climb up the pole to get a key. Firey manages to get to the top of the pole and takes the key. The trio gets to Island 3 and their key unlocks the building door, placing them first in the challenge. They all get Win Tokens.

Coverage[]

Leafy, Tennis Ball and Teardrop are paired up. They are the first team to arrive at Island 1. It takes them several tries to find a raft in the safes. They end up finding one, though all their attempts made them fall to third place. On Island 2, they stack several blocks and Teardrop is able to grab a key. Their key ends up being unable to open the door on Island 3, and they go back to Island 2. Leafy takes another key. The key works this time, and the trio places second.

Coverage[]

Bubble is paired with both Match and Pencil, exciting Match as they are all in an alliance. The trio is in first until Snowball pushes them off the balance beam into the water. They swim to Island 1 and are in second place. After looking through several safes to find a raft, Match accidentally locks Pencil in one of the safes. They find a raft and start rowing, but they turn around after Match realizes they forgot Pencil. They find Pencil and go to Island 2, where Pencil gets a key. The key unlocks the door on Island 3, placing the trio third.

Snowball's trio[]

This Temporary Team was made for the same reason as Leafy's trio.

Coverage[]

Snowball is paired up with Rocky and Golf Ball, angering Snowball. He argues with Golf Ball and takes Rocky with him, leaving Golf Ball. Snowball pushes Pencil, Bubble, Match and Ice Cube off the balance beam. He is then stopped by the Announcer, who tells him that he has to go back and get Golf Ball or he will be eliminated. Snowball swims back and throws Golf Ball and Rocky all the way to Island 1. They get to Island 2 and Snowball starts stacking while Golf Ball bosses him around. Snowball's stack falls over thrice, once due to Firey. The team is about to be in last, but Snowball shoves Coiny, Needle and Ice Cube away as soon as they are about to get in Island 3's building. The trio places fourth.

Coiny, Ice Cube and Needle are paired up. Ice Cube gets pushed off the balance beam by Snowball. Coiny and Needle wait for her on Island 1 and Coiny chastises her once she gets there. They immediately find a raft and swim to Island 2. Coiny gets a key, however it is unable to open the door on Island 3. They go back and grab another key, though the second key does not open the door as well. Coiny eventually grabs a third key, which ends up opening the door on Island 3. However, as soon as they are about to go in the building, Snowball shoves them out of the way and steals fourth place. Coiny, Needle and Ice Cube's trio is placed fifth and last. They are up for elimination.

Bubble and Pencil pair up, leaving Ice Cube without a partner. Bubble and Pencil throw the frisbees at each other successfully and finish first out of all of the pairs, they are awarded 200 points each for finishing first.

Rocky barfs on Spongy which is interpreted as them teaming up. Despite having no hands, Rocky is able to barf out the frisbee at Spongy and he can catch them by having them stick to his face, they end up finishing second. They are awarded 100 points each.

Since everyone else has already teamed up, Firey and Tennis Ball are forced to team up again. They do well at first but after Firey catches the frisbee with his tongue, the frisbee covered in his saliva gets stuck on Tennis Ball's foot which makes him not be able to throw it back. After Rocky and Spongy finish, Firey runs to the frisbee stash and throws a different one to Tennis Ball getting them third place. As a reward, they only get 15 points each. Out of the two, only Tennis Ball is up for elimination due to his previous score.

Coverage[]

After Bubble and Pencil team up, Leafy gets Ice Cube to team up with her. When Leafy throws a frisbee at Ice Cube, she gets shattered. Leafy then goes through the lengthy process of recovering Ice Cube for the same accident to happen again, this time right before sunset meaning they are getting a punishment. As a punishment for not finishing, they get 1000 points subtracted each, which makes them both automatically up for elimination.

Nickel asks Tennis Ball to team up, which he reluctantly does. They can't climb the vines because they're both armless, but Tennis Ball spits on a jar and uses it to glue them together and climb using their legs. In Donut's Island Tennis Ball build an oil rig to extract cherry filling to power their jetpack, then are stuck in Dora's Island for a while since Nickel doesn't want to eat the islands. Tennis Ball tries brushing Nickel's teeth until Toilet Brush falls from Teardrop's Island and is used by Tennis Ball to brush Nickel's teeth, they both then climb the waterfall to Teardrop's Island and try to hang on to Bomby and Fries to advance to the next island, but they're kicked off. Nickel uses his radiant teeth to burn Bob-Bomb to death and Blooddrop gives them angel wings to fly to Match's Island. In there they build a raft and go up to Puffball's Island, where they sing a lullaby that makes Bomby, Fries, Coiny and Pin all fall asleep, so they're able to go sleep on the bunk bed and are granted immunity.

As they were the last to left out of any teams, they're forced to work together. Fries tells Bomby to climb the vines but he refuses to, until Fries feeds him one of his sweetened fries and it turns him hyperactive, in Donut's Island Fries tries the same strategy and Bomby rapidly fills their jetpack with cherry filling. In Dora's Island Bomby is once again fed one of Fries' fries and eats multiple islands which allows them to climb the waterfall to Teardrop's Island. In Teardrop's Island they find Whistle annoying Honeydrop with all his talking so they tape their mouth, but Whistle untapes their mouth and screams to the top of their lungs, they are later kicked of the island by Fries and the duo is given some Springy Shoes, that they use to jump to Match's Island, Tennis Ball and Nickel try to go with them but Bomby kicks them off. On Match's Island they steal Coiny and Pin's boat and Bomby rips some of it and give it to them, they then advance to Puffball's Island where Bomby tries to sing about him exploding and Fries about how Puffball is a traitor but both tries fail. Fries sings the same song about Puffball but Bomby sings on top replacing all the insults with compliments and Puffball let's them pass, Bomby and Fries set their differences aside and sleep in the bunk bed and win immunity.

  • This, along with Ruby and Book, is are only duos to have failed debuters, both from BFDI.
  • This is also the first BFDIA 14 Duo to lose all of it's members
    • Bomby is the lowest raking member of this duo and is also the only member of the duo to not reach the Merge, Fries is the highest ranking member of the duo after his elimination in "🥚"

Needle is forced to team up with Pencil since she got poisoned and she's the "rookie" as claimed by Ruby. At first she struggles to advance as she has to carry the dead body of her teammate, but Ruby gives her the FreeSmart Super Coffin to put Pencil inside and with the coffin they fly and land in Donut's Island. Book, Ruby and the duo figure out that they have to fill their jetpacks with cherry filling. After they fly upwards, Needle notices that Book and Ruby are still on island one and throws her jetpack at them and uses the propeller from the LOL to land on Dora's Island. In Dora's Island Needle recovers Pencil using the anti-poison which makes Pencil eat the recommended character "Floating Island", which means they've already done the challenge.

They use a pipe to redirect the waterfall from Teardrop's Island and Book and Ruby swim up to reunite with them, Ruby suggests bringing back Bubble and Pencil blows her out of the Bubble Blower and both pairs swim up the waterfall. On Teardrop's Island, Ruby kicks out Tooth Brush to help Coffeedrop, who gives them a helium tank. Bubble fills herself with helium which makes her able to carry both pairs up to Match's Island, then on the island Match approaches Pencil to talk but she shuts her down as she's busy. Both pairs see Coiny and Pin building a raft and ask Match for help, who tells them there's a hidden raft on Teardrop's Island. After going down to Teardrop's Island, they explore the sunken ship until Evil Leafy attacks them and block their exit, Bubble notices a trap door and all except Book are able to escape. Book then comes out of the water and Evil Leafy appears near them. Needle crushes Evil Leafy with the Pirate Ship and they all find the hidden raft below the boat. They all go up to Puffball's Island and Needle and Pencil go on stage to perform, Needle starts singing about a world where nobody would call her or Puffball by their nicknames and it moves Puffball. They are both allowed to sleep on the bunk bed and Pencil thanks Needle and tells her she owes her one, they're both granted immunity.

Coiny and Pin are the first ones to team up. At first they're in last as Pin's wheels aren't fast enough, Pin is able to climb the vines with her wheels until the cable she's connected to is disconnected due to it not being long enough, Coiny calls Yellow Face's Warehouse to buy extension cables. When they arrive to Donut's Island they immediately snatch Needle's jetpack from Book and Ruby and fly to Dora's Island, where Coiny shoves an island inside Pin's garbage disposal and are able to advance to Teardrop's Island. There they find a sunken pirate ship, Coiny asks Pin to take a photo and she accidentally runs over Popcorn, unintentionally doing the challenge and are given rockets by Milkdrop to fly to Match's Island.

Coiny and Pin build a failed match-based raft that burns in the lava and then make another one that is stolen by Fries. Fortunately for them, Bomby gives them a chunk of the raft and are able to advance to Puffball's Island. Pin sings a song about her point that Puffball considers awful, they try that and another song unsuccessfully until the FreeSmarters take turns before them. When Ruby plays a remixed version of Pin's song, she goes berserk and electrocutes her cable that is connected to the pole next to the bunk bed, and shocks both Book and Ruby, additionally killing Bubble. She then starts monologuing and insulting Book and Ruby, after they both fall to the ground, she just sings "Mary had a little lamb" and are allowed to sleep on the bunk bed. They are the last team safe.

  • This, along with Needle and Pencil, are the only duos to have a Cherry and a Grape.
  • This is the only cross-gender team (team with 1 male and 1 female).
  • Either way if one of them gets eliminated in BFDIA 21, then they will be the highest ranking member.

Ruby pairs with Book as Pencil is dead. Dora notices how they look different and Ruby (as Quartz) makes herself look like Lapis Lazuli and Dora let's them pass.

On Teardrop's Island, Ruby kicks out Tooth Brush to help Coffeedrop, who gives them a microphone. Bubble uses the Needle and Pencil's helium talk to fill herself with helium to carry both pairs up to Match's Island. Both pairs see Coiny and Pin building a raft and ask Match for help, who tells them there's a hidden raft on Teardrop's Island. After going down to Teardrop's Island, they explore the sunken ship until Evil Leafy attacks them and block their exit, Bubble notices a trap door and all except Book are able to escape, Book is left breaking the Ship's wall until she's presumably captured by Evil Leafy. Book then comes out of the water and Evil Leafy appears near them. Needle crushes Evil Leafy with the Pirate Ship and they all find the hidden raft below the boat. They all go up to Puffball's Island and Ruby records Pin's song. After Needle and Pencil are finished, Book and Ruby along with Bubble all go on stage, Bubble suggests playing Spongy Cake, but Ruby decides to use the recording of a remixed version of Pin's song and Puffball let's them pass. Pin, enraged, electrocutes the pole connected to the bunk bed and shocks Book, Bubble and Ruby, killing Bubble in the process. Pin then insults Book and Ruby and declares them up for elimination, Book and Ruby fall off and hit the ground. They both lose and are, indeed, up for elimination.

The team was formed when all three members stood on mats with heart symbols. Pencil is immediately disgusted with her team members. The rules for the challenge are announced: the first team to have all three members enter the birdhouse would be safe from elimination, and the other six contestants would be put up for voting. Fries attempts to shove himself into the birdhouse, but after failure, Coiny attempts to crush him down to a smaller size. Bomby accuses Needle of disloyalty to W.O.A.H. Bunch, so she worriedly promises she's loyal to W.O.A.H. Bunch, and goes to talk to Freesmart for a moment. Needle asks if they will be teamed up later, and Pencil ensures her they will be. Pencil brings up the fact that Needle has yet to show Pencil an act of sacrifice, but Needle tells her about the jetpack she gave to Book and Ruby. Unfortunately, Book was taken back to her team by Nickel to continue competing, so Pencil doesn't buy Needle's story. Needle goes back to Tennis Ball and asks if they can fit, but he assures her that they can't. Pencil mentions that "Stacy" said you shrink when nobody is thinking about you.

Pencil encourages Coiny as he's crushing Fries into a ball. Coiny then says that it's Pencil's turn now. Pencil recommends stealing The Quasi-Rhombi's shrink ray, which Fries agrees to. Fries runs up and grabs it as Bomby get's partially shrunken. Fries then uses the ray on Pencil too many times, making her really small, so Fries puts her with his fries. The Stars decide they need to steal the Heart's shrink ray, but Book feels bad stealing from Pencil. Book and Pin then get in an argument about whether Pencil or Coiny is more chaotic and rude.

Meanwhile, Pencil is taste-testing Fries' fries. The argument ends with Book not wanting to steal from Pencil and Pin not wanting to steal from Coiny, so Nickel suggests stealing from Fries, which they agree to. Nickel walks off-screen to Fries and returns a few seconds later with a square hole in the middle of his face. The Stars decide to ambush the Hearts, so Book throws Pin at Fries. Pin bites and throws him, and he ends up stuck in Pin's garbage disposal. The shrink ray landed in Coiny's possession, which Book tries to take. After dodging some bullets, Book uses the personified shield in her pages to get up close and trap Coiny. Coiny calls for Pencil's help, so she jumps onto Pin and enters her mechanical wheels. Pencil messes with some wires, causing the garbage disposal to shoot out Fries. Fries falls back and the 6 contestants fight over the shrink ray, causing it to accidentally shoot the birdhouse they need to enter. Firey Jr. remarks how the contestants will have to get even smaller, but Pencil mentions how she's already small enough.

Trivia[]

  • As of 🥚, Coiny is the only member of the hearts still competing.
  • If Coiny does get eliminated in BFDIA 21 then he will be the highest ranking member of the hearts and there will be no more hearts competing.

Coverage

The team was formed when Pin, Nickel, and Book all stood on the star pads. When formed, Pin seemed slightly outraged, being unexpectedly split from her friends in WOAH Bunch. Pin was also angry she was in a team with a Freesmarter, Book. Nickel shows no care towards them and immediately loves the team he's in, saying it rules. Book doesn't know what she has done to Pin, but still offers help in the challenge.

  • As of Launch Party, Book and Pin are the only members still competing (this might change with Pin if she's eliminated in BFDIA 21)
  • If pin does get eliminated then Book would be the only member of the stars still competing.

  • Every time there were temporary teams introduced in an episode, there was at least one team that consisted entirely of members of Pencil's alliance.
  • All temporary team that got last place had at least one FreeSmart Alternate.
  • In "Power of Three" and "PointyPointyPointy ♫", the second to last teams to finish (Golf Ball, Rocky and Snowball and Coiny and Pin), were both going to lose but snatched the victory from the losing team. Snowball pushed through Coiny's trio in BFDI 6 and Pin electrocuted Book and Ruby before getting on the bunk bed in BFDIA 14. (as punishment for stealing her song)
  • The only trios from BFDI 6 to consist entirely of members of the same gender are both Squishy Cherries trios, while all Squashy Grapes trios consisted of two people of the same gender and one of the opposite gender.
  • The losing trio from BFDI 6 consists of contestants that have participated in every season of the show.
  • The only duo from BFDIA 14 to consist of members of two different genders are Coiny and Pin.
    • Additionally, because Coiny and Pin's duo consists of two different genders, the ratio of female to male characters across the other duos is balanced at 2:2.
    • This duo was also the only duo that had plushies made out of both members.
  • Tennis Ball and Nickel are the only duo to consist of a veteran and a newbie.

  • A quasi-rhombicosidodecahedrons, also known as a nonconvex great rhombicosidodecahedrons is an actual three-dimensional polyhedron with self-intersecting faces. It has 62 faces, 120 edges and 60 vertices, and is vertex transitive.
