"According to my research, Yoyleans does a lot more than that!" — Pillow, "Fortunate Ben"

The Yoyleans (sometimes referred to as Yoyleians) are a mysterious race in the Battle for Dream Island universe. Despite being mentioned multiple times, they have only been visually depicted in Book's pages. Although they have not appeared physically in the series, their influence on the world of BFDI is considerable.

The Yoyleans are credited with founding Yoyle City, inventing groundbreaking technologies such as the Wall Teleporter and the Enhancement L-Yoy-Ser, and possibly creating yoylecake and yoylestew. However, they mysteriously disappeared, leaving Yoyle City abandoned. It remains unclear whether the Yoyleans went extinct or simply relocated to another part of the world. It is suggested that they vanished long ago, as they are often referred to as the "ancient Yoyleans" by objects.

Appearance[]

Very little is known about the physical appearance of the Yoyleans. It is believed that, unlike modern Objects, their design was more detailed and elegant. Some Yoyleans may have exhibited blue bioluminescence due to their consumption of Noctiluca yoylean, a hazardous fungus.

Culture[]

Language[]

The Yoyleans were known for naming everything with the root word "Yoyle." According to Cary Huang, the term "Yoyle" originated from a misspelling of "you" in an obscure video he watched as a child.[citation needed] However, within the BFDI universe, "Yoyle" may hold an actual canonical meaning.

The Yoyleans also developed their own language, known as Yoylese. Despite this, the Latin alphabet appears on the buildings in Yoyle City, suggesting that either Yoylese fell out of use before these structures were built or that both writing systems coexisted. The Yoyleans also used a form of sign language known as Yoyle Dance, which is still seemingly taught in the present day, as Marker attended classes to learn it.

Technological advancement & science[]

The Yoyleans were highly intelligent and technologically advanced, far ahead of modern-day Objects. Their city contains thousands of buildings, a remarkable feat considering their status as an ancient civilization. Yoyle City also houses an Aerospace Manufacturing Plant, complete with several spaceships. Is it mentioned that they used arsenic in their wallpaper, suggesting they did not know the dangerous health effects associated with arsenic.

The Yoyleans also established a Science Museum to showcase their numerous inventions, including the Wall Teleporter and the Enhancement L-Yoy-Ser. They also appear to have discovered Yoylite, a slightly malleable mineral. This was shown in "Insectophobe's Nightmare 4" when Golf Ball shaped a straw from Yoylite, suggesting it was commonly used for tools or utensils.

Activities[]

The Yoyleans likely participated in several activities, two of which are well-known. Based on its name, Yoyle Chess was a form of chess played by the Yoyleans. They were also known to have played yoyleball with the yoyleball. A dedicated stadium for the sport, complete with bleachers, indicates that yoyleball held a similar level of importance to real-life sports such as basketball or football.

Diet[]

Though little is known about the Yoyleans' diet, certain details are known. They likely consumed yoyleberries and their various types, such as dream berries, and added them into foods like yoylecake and yoylestew. The Yoyleans also had Yoyle Oil, though it remains unclear whether this oil was used in cooking, as it is only seen in fountains. The existence of bakeries in Yoyle City suggests that pastries, such as yoylecake, baguettes, and cookies, were likely popular foods.

Additionally, the Yoyleans are believed to have discovered a type of fungus known as Noctiluca yoylean, named after their land, Yoyleland. This fungus spread to Southern Goiky through unknown means and causes flu-like symptoms, inflammation, cyan bioluminescence, mood swings, hunger, tooth decay, and even death. It is presumed that the Yoyleans abandoned this fungus as a food source after discovering its dangerous effects.
